Hrm...I mean the thing is there's no way that I can have them play an official role given that they were gag characters. (Yes I know they're technically canon now but I'm assuming we're talking about the original comedic comics.)

That being said I'd hardly be against them appearing in omakes.

Hint, hint.

Abyss Watchers Psych Eval: Grievous (Canon)
Not quite as happy with this one as I was with my previous omakes, but it should work out well enough I think. Let me know if you guys spot any errors.

Notes and Observations of General Grievous by Doctor Ruundal Kool

Meeting 1:

"...While I most certainly had definite impressions as to the character of Qymaen jai Sheelal -or Grievous as he prefers to be called- I can easily say that even a single meeting with him has most assuredly shattered those preconceptions. I, like many others most likely, was expecting a vengeful, bloodthirsty monster of a being. And while he certainly possesses a lust for battle, Grievous is far and away from simply being some primitive war lord. Oh he certainly holds some values that the wider 'civilized' Galaxy would look at in shock, Grievous is much, much more than that. Even after only a single meeting, I can plainly see the cunning intelligence he possesses..."

Meeting 3:

"...I can only stand by my previous assertion of the depth to Grievous' mind. Grievous is -quite frankly given everyone else in Lady Ciaran's organization that I see- refreshingly straightforward in our interactions. But assuming that his blunt... honesty is the entirety of his character is a trap far too many fall into I believe. His answers and the few questions he asks in return are as perceptive and cunning as any of Mitth'raw'nuruodo's. A being like Grievous would never have risen to such prominence on his home world, much less in the Abyss Watchers, had he been unable to formulate proper tactics and strategies. While I am learning a great deal as to his character, I do not doubt -not even for a moment- that Grievous is playing the long game in our sessions in much the same way I Thrawn does. What his end goal is, I do not know, but he has one, of that I am certain given how little actual information Grievous has shared about himself. Oh he's told me a great deal about his homeworld and its culture, but there has been little substance about the being himself..."

Meeting 7:

"...Things are progressing well enough with Grievous so far. As of the session before this one, Grievous has decided to share with me the stories behind some of his hunts and battles. Even as he shares the information behind each battle, each hunt, I admit that I can scarcely comprehend his strategies beyond some of the simpler tactics until after the fact when he explains everything that happens in minute detail. Hearing his recollections of these hunts and fights, I can easily see how he has managed to beat Thrawn in several of their simulated battles. He isn't victorious every time, but it is often enough if the rumor mill is anything to go by and I can certainly see why..."

Meeting 8:

"...While I was well aware that I would learn an enormous amount about the inner workings of the Abyss Walkers when I accepted this position, the things I learn still manage to surprise me. While I'd known about the operation we undertook against the Black Sun, I had not know any more that the rumor mill knew. That has been changed now that Grievous has informed me of just what occurred to a reasonable level of detail. And yet again I'm reminded of his intelligence and cunning which, when partnered with his own ruthlessness, make Grievous one of the most skilled and feared combatants in the galaxy..."

Meeting 14:

"...While I expected to learn a great deal from Grievous, I had not expected it to take the form of combat lessons. Oh I certainly knew I would learn more about tactics and strategy simply by proximity, but I did not expect that Grievous would show up at this most recent session with the blunt desire to understand just what my role was in the Abyss Watchers beyond the obvious. Once he had ascertained my duties, and then learned I had never been trained in any form of combat, he immediately dragged me to one of the on-site practice rooms and commandeered it for use. What followed was three hours of basic hand-to-hand combat instruction and basic blaster safety and usage training. Even now, several hours, a large meal, and a hot shower later, I still feel sore and bruised all over and just writing these notes is exhausting. Before we separated for the day, Grievous did inorm me as to just why he was doing this. He said plainly, and in no uncertain manner, that someone who deals so much with so many important figures, their secrets, and their base natures should be able to defend themselves. If I could not protect myself, then I presented a significant risk to the organization and -more importantly to Grievous- to Lady Ciaran. He has informed me that he expects me to practice what I've learned today in preparation for our next session, something I am not looking forward too.

But disappointing Grievous would be foolish beyond all reason, especially on this subject. I can see that his loyalty to Lady Ciaran is ironclad. So long as she does not betray him first, Grievous will most likely never betray her. Indeed, I strongly suspect that the Heat death of the universe will occur before that happens in fact..."

Meeting 15:

"...Looking back on the previous session, and now this one as well -from which I am still sore and bruised- I can easily tell what Grievous' goal was from the start. Just as I was evaluating him for mental stability and reliability, he was evaluating me. Only he was judging for himself my loyalty to Lady Ciaran and her organization by extension. In hindsight, I do not doubt for even a moment that had Grievous judges me to be a threat to Lady Ciaran he would have killed me on the spot and without regret. Knowing that has solidified my informed opinion as to Grievous' role in the Abyss Watchers and the wider galaxy.

He is no threat to Lady Ciaran or any of her subordinates. He most likely never will be either because Grievous gives himself fully to whatever task he undertakes and does not take half-measures. And the task he has dedicated himself to is aiding Lady Ciaran..."

While his loyalty to Ciaran is "ironclad" and one of the greatest motivators for his actions, remember that the honour, and glory of Kaleesh is a part of that, though otherwise your analysis of Grievous is quite thorough, well done!

Interlude - Hard Lessons
"Hello Obi-Wan~"

"...How did you get this comlink frequency, Lady Ciaran?"

"Not important. I want you to train me in Soresu."

"...Why."

"Reasons. Come onnnn, it'll be grea-"

"No."

-----------

"Hey. Hey Obi. Train me."

"The answer is still no. I am quite busy as you're well aware."

"Don't be such a killjoy. I'm sure you can find enough downtime to train me, or I could just follow you around for a bit-"

"No."

-----------

"Obi-Wan Kenobi, I hereby wish to train under you so that I may learn Form III."

"Would you stop calling me!"

"Heeeey, I had to spend a whole minute composing that formal request in my head."

"...You're not going to let this go are you."

"Nope~ ...But I am serious about this. I do want to learn Form III and you're the best practitioner of it I know."

"...And if I refused again...?"

"Look, Obi, I'm of the mind that you really need to relax and take a vacation. I have resort tickets with your and Satine's names on it! ...Or was it yours and Siri's? I forget which one it was...Ah well it's not that important, right?~"

"...That is a low blow, Lady Ciaran."

"Well, you know me, I don't like playing fair~"

"...Right. I'm likely going to regret this, but very well, I'll train you when I have the time."

"Excellent! Maybe you can bring Siri along and-"

"That is - hmm...actually not a bad idea all things considered."

----------

Taris, Jedi Tower Museum

Most days the Jedi Tower Museum would be hosting various curious tourists and the odd historian who wanted to see the restored building for themselves and learn more about the time when it was still an active Academy. However among the crowds wandering the Tower today were a pair of Jedi; one Obi-Wan Kenobi looking around with mild interest and one Siri Tachi calmly walking alongside him, though she was noticeably less enthused about the Museum as a whole.

"Honestly, from what you told me I'm surprised we didn't have to pay to get in here for the meeting, wherever it is," Siri said to Obi-Wan as he turned to face her with a resigned expression. "...So am I. And that worries me."

"Because you think she's plotting something."

"Yes. Still, on a much more pleasant topic I have to admit this is quite fascinating all things considered," Obi-Wan said as he gestured vaguely around him. "I can't help but be impressed at the lengths gone through to restore the Tower and provide accurate information on the period it was first built in."

"I take it you were expecting a tourist trap?"

"You were as well I'm sure."

"Heh, that's fair," Siri said lightly. "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself at least."

The two of them continued to wander around aimlessly until a Rodian in a sharp uniform approached the two. "Lady Ciaran is waiting in the Council Chamber. If you would please follow me?"

"The...Council Chamber?" Obi-Wan said incredulously as he and Siri followed the Rodian to the turbolift at the back of the building, only stopping as their guide entered a passcode into a keypad before the three stepped into the lift. "Did she say why there of all places?"

"I do not know. I simply work here," he flatly replied. "I assume it is because it is a private location."

"Or it could be so she has a suitably dramatic place to talk to you, Obi-Wan," Siri said as she rolled her eyes slightly. "That sounds very much like her. I can imagine it now, her sitting on one of the chairs in flowing robes - do I need to go on?"

"...No, no you really don't. You do not."

The Rodian leaned forward slightly. "Er...is she really like that?"

"Yes."

As Obi-Wan said that, the lift stopped at the top floor. "Well then...er...do enjoy your...meeting," the Rodian guide said before the two Jedi stepped out onto the walkway leading to the Council Chamber. Making an effort to look properly dignified the two entered to see...

A surprisingly spartan room. There was a holder for what appeared to be lightsabers off to one side of the entryway, and the room itself was barely decorated. The only things within it were five chairs, scattered equipment with Mandalorian markings and various notes about how they were meant to represent the brief occupation of the Tower attached to them, and Ciaran listlessly staring at one of the walls in thought before noticing the arriving duo. "Ah, there you two are!" she said lightly to the surprise of Obi-Wan. "So nice to see you again, Siri, how long has it been?"

"Not that long...didn't I see you back on Caamas?" she said after thinking to herself for a moment. "That's besides the point though...was something on your mind?"

"Just something that occurred to me; I've never been in here that long before and I noticed that this chamber is closed in unlike the chamber in the Temple on Courscant. Couldn't help but wonder why the Jedi that built this place wanted to seal themselves away from the world..." She shook her head. "Not the point. Obi," she said, turning to a genuinely confused Obi-Wan, "glad you could make it. When do we start? I can get us a place at any training facility on the planet and-"

"That's fine," he said as he gently held up a hand. "I already decided on a location before I even got here."

"Oh good, so is it-"

-----------

"A junkyard!? Are you serious!?" Ciaran shouted as she followed Obi-Wan and Siri into a junkyard littered with broken steel, abandoned crates, rusting equipment, and various other signs that indicated that no sentient being had visited the area in a long time.

"Quite so," Obi-Wan calmly responded, though his attention was focused on the area around him, his eyes darting around and taking in the environment he would be setting up the first lessons in. "Since the both of us are too busy to have a consistent training regimen going I need to teach you the basics as best I can over the coming days, and this junkyard would be the perfect place to do it," he said before he stopped and turned to face Ciaran. "Now then, I need to know that-"

"I'll be fine with possibly getting myself roughed up a bit and so on right?" Ciaran interrupted. "I'm perfectly fine with that. I can take a lot more punishment than you might think."

"Very well then," he said, calmly taking out his lightsaber and igniting it, Siri stepping back as he did so. "Knowing you I'm sure you'd appreciate a practical demonstration of Form III, so we'll start with a practice match so you can see the Form in action." he said as he settled into a fighting stance, a finger pointed at Ciaran.

Ciaran respectfully nodded towards him, calmly taking out and igniting her lightfoil. She looked over Obi-Wan for a brief moment before charging forward, laying into him with a series of rapid strikes. Obi-Wan began to backpedal and continuously block Ciaran's strikes as she continued to fish for an opening in Obi-Wan's defenses, trying to strike him at multiple different angles only to be repeatedly blocked by him even as he continued to backpedal. Beginning to get frustrated, Ciaran began to try more unorthodox tactics though they too were countered by Obi-Wan. When she would try to trip him with a leg sweep he would leap backwards to dodge it, forcing Ciaran to close the distance between them again. When she tried to grab one of his arms he would quickly move it out of the way and launch a counterattack that would force Ciaran to go on the defensive briefly.

Continuing to push Obi-Wan back but getting the increasing feeling that he was deliberately allowing her to do so Ciaran quickly glanced around the area, noticing that she was pushing him towards a large container that she could use to get the upper hand on him. She increased the intensity of her attacks, pushing Obi-Wan further and further back and preparing to sweep around behind him. Unfortunately for her just as she was about to make her move he quickly glanced behind him and promptly leapt up onto it, giving him the high ground.

"We may as well end the fight here," Obi-Wan said in an almost disarmingly casual tone. "I have-"

Ciaran's response was to punch the container he was standing on, causing it to noticeably shake and throw Obi-Wan off balance slightly. Taking advantage of the opening she leapt up to Obi-Wan's place, locking blades with the surprised Jedi Master. From the sidelines, Siri tilted her head in slight confusion.

"Since when could you do that?" Obi-Wan said to Ciaran.

"Picked up that little trick a few months ago. Ever heard of the Matukai? They've got some amazing things to say about using the Force to make yourself stronger and faster."

Disengaging, Ciaran darted back slightly only to charge at Obi-Wan with increased speed and ferocity, though to Ciaran's frustration he continued to block her attacks albeit with considerably more effort on his part. Once she managed to push him to the edge of the container they were on, he leapt to another one only for Ciaran to jump after him, leading to a running battle where the two would leap across the various containers scattered throughout the junkyard, Obi-Wan using it to set up some distance and Ciaran quickly following after him.

Eventually after a few moments, Obi-Wan jumped down onto the ground, calmly deactivating his lightsaber. "Right then, I think that's enough for now," he shouted up to Ciaran.

"Hey, we're still fighting, I could win! In...an hour or so," she shouted back in a huff.

"In all sincerity Lady Ciaran, had I been fighting seriously it would be right around now that I would be preparing to finish you off," he said as she jumped down. "So do you have a better idea of what Form III is?"

Ciaran nodded affirmatively. "Much as I hate to admit it you had a counter for everything I did. Normal attacks, me trying to fight dirty with leg sweeps and grapples, you saw through my attempt to get the high ground..." She thought to herself for a second. "It seemed like you were letting me go on the offensive, leading me to think that I was setting the pace at first."

"That's right. I'm...honestly surprised at how much you were paying attention," Obi-Wan said.

"It may not seem like it but I do take these things seriously," Ciaran replied. "So...now what?"

"Now is where Siri comes in," he said as the woman in question stepped forward with a slight smirk on her face. "Since Form III is a defensive form by nature, it would help to have a sparring partner with a more aggressive style."

"I'm looking forward to it," she said. "From what Obi-Wan's been telling me you're the kind of woman who doesn't like backing down, so this should be a good experience for you."

Ciaran tilted her head slightly. "...Wow. That wasn't half bad."

"Right then," Obi-Wan said after loudly clearing his throat, "let's begin shall we? First off I'll walk you through the basic stances with Siri's help..."

-----------

Over the next couple of hours Ciaran was finding herself pushed hard in her training. The physical nature of it was hardly an issue thanks to the benefits of her Matukai training, but she was finding that she was constantly struggling with the intricacies of Form III. It was hardly Obi-Wan's fault; she'd be the first to admit that he was an excellent teacher when he was walking her through the various stances of the form or how to best read the environment around her during a fight. It was more that she was having issues ceding the initiative and fighting defensively as Form III dictated.

Sparring with Siri did help with that though; true to Obi-Wan's assessment she was an aggressive fighter as she would constantly be going on the offensive, whether it be through simply trading blows or constantly leaping around her or off of the sides of containers or using them to get the drop on her. As it turned out Obi-Wan was right in that Siri would be a good sparring partner as once Ciaran ceded the initiative Siri would be relentlessly attacking her, and she was having issues with staying mostly defensive.

"I mean no offense when I say this, but I can't say I'm surprised that you're having difficulties," Obi-Wan commented to Ciaran at one point. "I can tell that you're the type of fighter who wants to take the first strike and go on the offensive. Given that, in all sincerity this training will probably save your life in a duel. There's something to be said for being able to be defensive and wait for the right time to strike."

"And I can tell you now that's not how I usually do things," Ciaran replied. "I would never have gotten as far as I did if I waited for something; I've had to take every chance I could get and leap on every opportunity given to me to get to where I am now."

"I won't deny that, but at the same time you need to learn what it means to use Soresu. Learning the form itself is one thing, but what is truly important is mastering the mentality behind the form - how to acknowledge that the flow of battle won't always be decided by you, how to adapt to your opponent and the environment around you, and so on. At any rate it looks like between our busy schedules and the rate of progress you're at I can't say that you're going to become adept at this form without a lot more training."

"But you'll still be around?"

"Intermittently but yes. I promised you that I'd teach you Form III, and I plan on seeing it through."

"Good. I'm going to become adept at this no matter what."

That statement caused Obi-Wan to pause briefly. "I still can't believe how serious you are about this..." he muttered to himself.

"Now then if you don't mind I'm going to try and get more rounds in with Siri," Ciaran said, either not noticing or acknowledging Obi-Wan's comment before moving back towards the woman in question and reigniting her lightfoil, preparing for another practice round.

"All that talent, that constant drive to improve and to succeed..." Obi-Wan said to himself as he watched Ciaran and Siri spar. "...Why is it that the Force kept us from finding her?" He sighed to himself. "Then again given her personality I don't know if things would have worked out with the Jedi..."

Reward: Soresu training initiated

AN: Yes it's been a while. Hopefully the wait will be worth it, I had some fun writing this up.

Yeah its back! And nice to see Ciaran actually pressed by a Jedi (instead of stunning them like she did Ventress). And a good reason why she is having trouble with it. Plus Obi-Wan getting a headache thinking about what Ciaran would have been like if the Jedi had picked her up. I could see him letting that slip to Master Yoda or someone else that has experience with the frustration that is Ciaran.

Edit: Just the Foundry Mini turn and the Dinner with Dooku to go, plus the results pt 2 (which includes the annoy Padme)

Now I want an Jedi Master Ciaran omake or an alternate reality crossover!
I wonder if Jedi version of Ciaran can unleash the full potential the Jedi order and its impact on the galaxy.
Oh sure its easy for her to go SIth or become a Death Raven but seeing her navigate and change the Jedi Order from within as her is far more interesting using due to rules and tradition.
What she would do as the Grandmaster of the Jedi heh:rofl:

It's better for Ciaran for the Jedi to remain as passive and relatively ineffectual as they are. The better and more active they become the more they'll impede her actions post-Palpatine.

I mean it as a What if thing, with Ciaran got picked up by the Jedi as a child in another timeline and how things could go from there.

Seeing Ciaran's reaction to learning Form III, reminds me that Form V was made by Form III masters who wanted to be less passive, and create their own openings to exploit. They combined the techniques of Form III, with the philosophy and tactics of Form II, to create Form V...

Looking back I think the Jedi missed Ciaran on account of how weak she started out in the Force. As a Miraluka she appeared to be a little below baseline in Force Presence. Her abilities come from unorthodox studies and techniques along with a lot of determination.

Ha! Impressive isn't it? Ciaran usually acts (takes initiative) on something not react (like the Jedi as a whole do), and it reflects in their lifestyles: -Ciara actively finds the problem, and tries to mitigate it's effect; -Jedi (mostly)acts on the surface, not the core of the problem.

Now I know that's not fair and there are some things I don't know and Jedi actually doing their job, but this difference in their lifestyle does affect how ther deal with big and small problems. Hope fully they learn something from one another.

That would be surprising, though there WOULD be considerable differences, personally I think she would be a, Jedi Investigator, Jedi Shadow or a member of Council of First Knowledge or something... you know seeing the pattern fallowing a lead and informing others/taking preemptive actions... Still it be awesome.

"...Why is it that the Force kept us from finding her?"

"Because the Jedi rolled badly during the pregame and Ciaran rolled nat 100s. That's why."

Alternatively...

"To Ciaran - to steal away something or someone so preemptively that it is only many years later, if ever, that people even begin to wonder how they missed the chance to acquire that thing or person."

The joke being that Ciaran Ciaran'd herself from the Jedi and the Sith before anyone (even her) realized how amazing Ciaran is.

And that's before I even touch a hypothetical rumors of Siri being redeemed by Ciaren from a... darker background, or Ciaren playing mediator in that whole Force family being clash, that it might lead to Master Yoda drawing wrong conclusions of interest on Ciaren.

Like, the more wise Jedi Master's discovering for all intents and purposes; the Anti-Palpatine.

Honestly, it's for the best they didn't. Ignoring all else, the constant drive to be improve, to be more? It's the easiest and quickest way to fall to the insane side of the Dark side.

And an insane Ciaran who just wants to see the galaxy burn? That'd be terrifying.

Always a dedicated student isn't she?

Obi-Wan still expects her to be a superficial and flighty socialite, fair enough given that until recently that was the only setting he saw her in.

With the war on he's seeing that there's a whole other side to her.

It's nice to see their relationship and understanding of one another develop over time.
