It is foolish and wasteful, no other fighter in Star Wars has felt the need to create a Greatsword lightsaber. It seems wholly out of character for Ciaran to create especially with her main style being Makashi: the graceful dueling style.
I doubt it's a literal great saber, more likely it is that color and has some effect or crystal that references either the sweeping arcs of light that we can then use Blazing Chains on or how MlGsw scales on Intelligence or in this case Lore rather than strictly Martial.

Or Maybe it can alternate between the two and we get to use the second larger form to surprise the fuck out of people when we switch to it and Makutai all over their pitiful defenses.

But why does Ciaran blade need to be a lightsaber instead of being a true blade? Honestly, an actual sword might actually be more useful to us than a lightsaber due to the fact that lightsabers cauterize any wound that is inflicted while a blade would allow for minor cuts to bleed thereby slowing the opponents reaction time and opening them to the possibility of death via Exsanguination.
Err, it is still going to be an energy blade no matter what so that is not a thing that will happen.

no one would know how to fight against something like that though
Ciaran would also have to relearn how to fight and it is overly ostentatious which Ciaran is not when she fights.

This. I don't even think "greatsabers" are a thing, and if they were they'd be stupidly impractical and probably be prone to falling apart any second.

we need to install a giant metal arm on our flagship so it can wield a ship sized lightsaber/club *completely serious face*

Well Corran Horn did kinda with his duel-phase lightsaber. It could switch between being the standard 1.3m, a bit longer then a normal longsword, to an immense three meters at which point it's less a lightsaber and more a lightpike.

@Dr Snark given we're going to Rakata prime is a force saber a possibility?

While this is probably not how you intend to do it, having the inspiration/first type of light saber weapon to create an entirely new style of saber off of would be interesting at least.

@Publicola idea for archeology Tython not only has cool artefacts (like the first saber) and holocrons, but also has Rajivari's archive (font).

The main problem with a Force Saber is that it is powered primarily by Dark Side energy.
I did say inspiration not use.

Seeing what gave the Je'daii masters the idea could lead to some interesting thoughts of our own especially since it channels force energy directly as opposed to just energy from a power cell.

The Force Saber was also more powerful than the lightsaber in someway... or at least I remember that from somewhere.

We also have the Dark Saber, so I'd like to figure out how it works too as there's no other Saber like it to my knowledge.

The thing it does with emotions as well as its unique elegant shape make it seem more fitting for our lady too especially if we can make it a rapier design.

And? We are gray, so use of dark as well as light is permitted. I don't see any reason to isolate ourselves to one side of the force or the other.
This as well, though I'd warn that as a Rakattan force artefact it might trend more towards the stupid side of the dark.

We are still trying to be subtle, just because we are willing to use the dark does not mean we should announce it so blatantly to the galaxy.

Fair enough on the inspiration I suppose.

The Dark Saber is just the lightsaber of the first Mandalorian Jedi.

Yes, but it looks like this

Sounds like this.

Significantly higher pitch and constant distracting whiring sound compared to normal saber.

And when there are strong emotions it shoots decorative lightning.

Hell its the only "lightsaber" to look anything close to a real saber as well as being the only black one.

What ever that mandalorian put it, it sure as hell wasn't normal.

They would sense a dark side object on our person, at least I would assume. Unless we can hide it under our presence. But, even so it is just not worth it.
Eh, no more suspicious than having a lightsaber at all and I'm pretty sure we could hide it.

Yes I have seen both the shows you do not have to show me things I have seen. It is probably just a black crystal. Nobody else in the Star Wars universe seems to care how it was made. They probably rightly assume the guy just changed how the energy blade is shaped.

Yea, I would like for our blade to actually look like a sword, both to distinguish itself, and look more similar to the source from which we are basing it upon, because if it is just a regular lightsaber with the color changed to match the moonlight, said reference would be so slim that it would be nonexistent. Seeing as we already have the Dark Saber itself, maybe us using the structural design as the basis for our own blade isn't that far out there.

o_O

I assumed that's because they can't disassemble it and seeing how complex sabers are turning the round blades of a normal saber into an actual blade sounds like a nightmarishly complex task.

In addition a "black" crystal. Black is the absence of light so this mando jedi just happened to be the first jedi who picked up one and decided to use it to create a saber, that was also a practical weapon?

That seems like an incredibly long series of things to pass of *CAUSE MANDALOR.*

There's also the fact that as an actual weapon it just seems more practical to me and more effective as a weapon, smaller/slimmer hilt lighter in the hand so better for someone used to a small light foil ect.

Also that disturbing higher pitched shriek and hum.

the moonlight saber would emit a gastly hum, some people say they can hear voice's in the sound
