Interdictors create gravity wells comparable to major stellar bodies (that's why they interrupt FTL) - correct? So, the comparison is invalid.
Logic says that the field produced by interdictors are probably considerably smaller than that of a planet, and we don't actually know how much is needed to make a ship leave hyperspace. It may be that while interdictors produce enough gravity to force ships to drop out of hyperspace they actually produce a lot less gravity than something like a planet.

Interdictors create gravity wells comparable to major stellar bodies (that's why they interrupt FTL) - correct?
No, they simulate the effects of one on hyperspace, which prevents FTL travel in that area. No realspace effects as far as been shown. And since they're semi-regularly used in planetary orbits for blockades, it would be fairly obvious if they were actually generating that much gravity in realspace. Apocalyptically obvious in fact.

I propose a compromise. A middle ground between the two sides, or at least whatever I figure the various sides to be.

Imperial Leviathan image - Yuuzhan Vong at War mod for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption

Something like this. Big, capital ship sized, capable of supporting a fleet on the move with its forges and large hangers, able to take an enormous beating, and with a large and powerful mining laser for use on small planetoids and the like. In time of war the laser can be used on the enemy, and its forges can be used to refit its defensive weapons from the light, "anti-pirate" it would have pre-war into something more fitting of such a monster.

Which could, incidentally, be how we arm the CNS. Civilian stuff that could be refitted relatively quickly into something more suitable for war. Similar to Corellian freighters. Also incidentally (I like that word) giving us more reason to recruit Corellia.

I'm more in favor of offering him an out. A way to marry Padme openly, best possible protection and care for her and their children and for him a chance to do good for teh Galaxy without the restraints of the Jedi.
Offer him a place in the CNS, let him protect those he wants to protect and remove him from Sheevs area of influence.
We've already given him a way out by way of the conversation we had with him, he's just decided not to use it. Currently he's in the Jedi Order because he chooses to stay in the Jedi Order. Because of us, he has reaffirmed that even though he and the Order might have their differences, he is still a Jedi.

I was too lazy to dig this up when I originally posted them, but I stumbled across the post that inspired the Padawans and Miscommunication omakes. So I figured I'd offer credit where credit is due.

Man the rumors the Abyss Watchers are stirring up especially the abyss agents. With their knowledge of the techniques of the blazing chains the survivors of those who encounter them are going to tell tales about them.

Unrequested Aid (Canon)
Unrequested Aid

Grievous ran through the battlefield like none could stop him. Most fled before him in justifiable terror, but a select few who were either incredibly brave or incredibly idiotic stood their ground and futilely fought back. Given that they had aligned themselves with a criminal group foolish enough to use the name of the Black Sun, Grievous could only assume they were idiots. Or had been idiots at any rate, as Grievous slaughtered them to a man.

Those who had run were more irritating, but ultimately dead men walking. The entrances to the base had been sealed shut, save for the one with Grievous between it and them, and the Abyss Watchers had established a perimeter to eliminate any that actually made it out of the base. It was only a matter of time, but Grievous disliked wasting his time on these fools.

Then something appeared to save him some time. In front of the retreating 'Black Sun' members, two Jedi appeared, twirling around their golden lightsabers and slicing down the pirates. The criminals panicked as Grievous rushed in from the other side, more intent on reaching the Jedi to demand answers than actually crush the 'Black Sun' group. The poor fools didn't even have time to decide whether to meet their end at the hands of the Kaleesh general or the two Jedi before the decision was made for them.

Once the last of them fell, the two Jedi relaxed, lowering their lightsabers if not extinguishing them. Grievous stood just outside comfortable reach of the energy blades, his height still allowing him to glare down at the two intruders of his personal quest to maintain his legacy. Still, Lady Ciaran would be cross with him if he slaughtered them outright. "What business do the Jedi have here?" Grievous spat the words from between clenched teeth.

"This has no connection to the Jedi Order as a whole." said one of the Jedi, either not noticing or simply ignoring the antagonistic tone Grievous had addressed them with. "The Jedi Sentinels have been neglecting our duties to reciprocate Lady Ciaran for the information she has shared with us in the past. While we cannot condone many of her more… illicit activities, we can turn a blind eye and aid her endeavors that more closely align with the Jedi Code."

"Indeed." agreed the other one. "Our mission as Jedi is to bring peace to the galaxy, and ending these sorts of criminals early is a noble, if violent way to accomplish that goal."

"I do not recall request assistance in this matter." spat Grievous, making no effort to hide his displeasure at the Jedi arriving to interfere with his mission.

"The Jedi Sentinels will never respond to requested aid from anyone but the Jedi High Council. To do otherwise would be blatant corruption, counter to every moral principle of not just the Sentinels, but the Jedi Order as a whole." explained one of the Jedi Sentinels. "However, if our goals happen to align, there is no moral conflict attached to our help."

Grievous glared angrily, considering his response. On one hand, he despised the idea of the Jedi helping him, when they and their precious Order had been responsible for much of his people's suffering. On the other hand, Lady Ciaran would no doubt wish to foster this relationship into yet another tool for her to use, and would be irritated if he unilaterally decided to terminate a business arrangement of hers based on a personal vendetta.

In the end, he settled for a compromise. "Do as you will, but I will not allow any outside interference on my missions. You Jedi will have to stick your noses elsewhere."

The Jedi looked at Grievous with annoyance. "Very well, if you insist." With that, the two Jedi Sentinels extinguished their lightsabers and moved past Grievous. When he turned to eye them with suspicion, they had vanished. Frustrated, Grievous punched the wall of the base, denting it slightly.

AN: The phrase "unrequested aid" struck me as odd. Random Jedi appearing unbidden, helping out and then vanishing into the shadows once more. By the by, we should totally be able to exploit our connection with the Sentinels as a potential weapon against Sidious. Doesn't have to be directly, but they'd no doubt be willing to eliminate some of Sheev's infrastructure if we inform them that it's owned by a Sith Lord.

Also, this was going to be longer, but a shiny on the Jedi Sentinel wiki page led me to something way juicier. Best part is, we might already have it.

This might be an effective way to deny Palpatine the use of Hego Damask's fortune -- even if we can't loot it ourselves, letting the Jedi take credit for tracking it down might be a good way to ensure Palpatine doesn't realize we're on to him....

Mechu-deru? Force Immunity?

Also, it wasn't threadmarked, but I just wanted to remind everyone that there was an honest-to-goodness rap battle omake posted in the last thread!
Palpatine and Ciaran. Rap battle for the Chancellorship of the Republic. Will totally do this when I have time.

That guy Echo 101 guy sure does know how to drop those rhymes! He totally got those two complex characters right :)

*No shame what so ever :p*

Mechu-deru is part of what I'm referring to. It's an awesome set of Force techniques that would be really useful for general tech knowledge as well as upgrading our two droid hero units. More specifically, I was referring to Darth Maul's use of mechu-deru to turn his protocol droid, C-3PX , into an assassin droid. An assassin droid that was confiscated by the Republic in canon, alongside the Scimitar. Meaning we have C-3PO's badass lookalike somewhere on our stolen stealth ship and never noticed.

Also: @Dr. Snark I'd like to point out it took people more than 8 minutes and one post to guess my obscure lore reference.

"The Force completes me, and so do you."

How far their suave nature has fallen. "I don't like sand."

I've been wondering about this for awhile now.
Just how rich are we?
Equivalent to a billionaire in RL?

I know we're rich enough to be considered nobility/upper class, but how rich are we talking here?
Richer then Dooku before the war?
More money than Plageius had at his max?

So what you're saying is that we have HK-47's lesser known cousin lurking about? In the same general area as HK-47 himself?

Do you have any idea of what you've just unleashed!?! :o

We own several planets.

For all practical purposes, we own Taris. We took a ruined ecumenopolis, and built it up from scratch, to the point where pretty much everyone is employed by us or one of our facilities we jointly run with Incom or Seiner, etc.

According to earlier calculations, we own/receive income from at least a third of the business that goes through Castell. Considering it's the capital/headquarters of the mega-conglomerate Commerce Guild (of which the galaxy-spanning SoroSuub Corporation is only one member...) that alone makes us really really rich.

We're basically the 'last man standing' in the Coruscant Undercity, which means our organization basically owns & operates the black market on the galactic Capital. We also have considerable investments in the Financial District and the area around the Senate, besides running security and surveillance on pretty much the entire area.

We are heavily invested in Muunilist -- we arrived immediately after the invasion, and provided enough investment and loans to the Banking Clans and others that the entire planet recovered in short order.

We also poured a lot of money into Naboo immediately after it was invaded. Between our tradeports and our stake in Borvo's black markets, we're probably responsible for about 10% of the total planetary economy at this point.

Likewise, we snatched up a bunch of factories and other investments as the Trade Federation was divesting themselves after the invasion, so we probably own a similar percent on Cato Neimoidia.

We're a major player -- probably the biggest off-world trading partner -- for the Wookie economy, with numerous assets and holdings on Kashyyyk and Alaris Prime. We own a considerable amount of property on Nar Shaddaa, surface and undercity. We have an exclusive contract to buy & sell to Pantora despite the Trade Federation blockade. We're stealing a massive number of credits from former Black Sun holdings around the galaxy. We're the single biggest employer on Kalee. And besides our two secret asteroid bases, we also own a private planet no one else knows about.

We are a favored trading partner of the Trade Federation and of the Hutt Council. We have intergalactic shipping contracts that give our agents access to business assets and black ops operations pretty much everywhere in the galaxy. We run the largest humanitarian organization in the galaxy, responsible for relocating refugees, and have invested so much in those refugee camps that they're basically functioning cities with large self-standing economies administered entirely by us. We run security for the Senate, and contract out as mercenaries for both the Republic and CIS. We're important enough for Raith Sienar to drop everything and come running when he thought he might have offended us.

Translation: we're rich. To be precise, we're filthy stinkin'. I don't know how to quantify it except for that, but yes, if the Star Wars galaxy were the size of the real-world economy, we'd certainly be billionaires. Probably not in the top 5, maybe not in the top 10, but definitely on the list.

Anomalous Martial overview.

this is document is intend for internal use only, and should be considered clearance level green.

SUBJECT: Overview of Known Anomalous Martials and background information about Anomalous Material in general.

ABSTRACT: This report is providing a broad, but shallow look at Anomalous Materials currently under investigation, as well as provide general background understanding for nontechnical personnel. This is by no means an exhaustive report in either scope or depth, it is a brief overview of what is already known about AM that are currently targeted for feasibly studies.

Background information: This report will be using the Term Anomalous Materials and it's abbreviation (AM) as a technical term. The term AM is a technical term used to identify martials with unique and unexplainable properties, almost always with a direct and obvious military application. By definition an AMs properties are not fully understood, and should it's properties ever be fully understood it will cease to be classified as an AM. While near all AM are extraordinarily useful, most suffer from 2 major limitations that prevent wide scales use of AM. First, most AM are extraordinarily rare, with many existing on only one world and few existing on more than a handful. Thus even though there exist a large variety of AM, any given type of AM will usually remain far too rare for large scale use. The second is that by definition the exact mechanisms they operate on are poorly understood, and therefore somewhat risky to employ. While most can be used with an acceptable degree of safely if precautions are taken, using more than one type of AM within the same project is immensely dangerous and requires exhaustive testing to eliminate the risk of a catastrophic interaction.

Anomalous Materials of interest.

Agrocite- A particularly well known and unusually common form of AM, in recent times control over known Agrocite caches has become a strategic goal of both sides of the war. It's physical structure is a great mass of near atomic scale nodules containing and stabilizing pockets of extremely energetic exotic matter. Once a nodule is breached the exotic matter immediately evaporates, leaving behind a micro anomaly that then releases energy at a steady and controllable rate, with a given nodule lasting from 1 to 10 microsecond. A properly tuned energy pulse can also be fired through a mass of Agrocite, inducing the exotic matter to react while contained and somehow add it's energy payload to the energy pulse, in the exact same form. Controlling the rate of burn is as easy as choosing how finely to grind it, and choosing the magnitude of the boost for an energy pulse is as simple as inserting the correct volume of Agrocite. The exotic matter itself is poorly understood, as no attempts at stabilizing it outside of the Agrocite nodules have yet succeeded, and most forms of sensor that can get readings though the crystal nodules will simply react with it consuming it for an energy boost. Care should be taken as a mistuned energy pulse can cause agrocite to detonate with considerable force, which can lead to entire stockpiles going up at once if insufficient precautions are taken.

Beskar- colloquially known as Mandalorian iron, this is not actually a distinct AM. nor as the name would imply, does it contain much Iron. It is in actuality a family of extremely advanced Cortosis alloys. Through as yet unknown means other materials are fully incorporated into Cortosis's distinctive honeycomb lattice, to the point that the resulting material contains very little actual Cortosis. The resulting reinforced lattice is all but unrecognizable, retaining only trace amounts of Cortosis and showing none of Cortosis's weakness to physical impact. While much of its ability to conduct and distribute electrical energy is lost, it is still capable of disrupting plasma envelopes in a manner similar to other Cortosis alloys enabling it to retain it's resistance to lightsabers. While reverse engineering it would likely be a years or decades long affair, it may provide useful hints for how to work with Cortosis. While Beskar's use as armor in all forms well documented, its uses in machinery and industrial process appear to be largely unexplored. Though given that the Mandalorian smiths who craft this material have been running a successful misinformation campaign about Beskar's very nature since it's creation, that does not mean no such uses have been found.

Cortosis- Well known primarily for its ability to disrupt lightsabers, Cortosis's special properties mostly revolve around redirecting and redistributing energy. Its ability to disrupt the magnetic containment field of lightsabers is well known, as is it's fragility. What is less well known is its ability to near perfectly conduct heat and electromagnetic energy. It is quite possibly one of the best conductors for energy in the known galaxy. When alloyed it will typical form a distinctive honeycomb lattice within the alloying material. While the lataice can be locally damaged by even moderate kinetic force, while it is intact it provides extreme protection against thermal energy and non-trivial disruption of lightsaber derived weapons, resulting in an alloy capable of resisting lightsabers, and more importantly one with a far greater thermal conductivity. While initial mixes remain effectively specialized protection against force users, the existence of Beskar proves that this particular AM has a lot of untapped potential.

Hiridiu- When academics wish to argue that AM are synthetic rather than natural, Hiridiu is a common example. In even it's raw form proximity can greatly boost communication signals. In effect, someone broadcasting next to a deposit will find there signal greatly boosted, with absolutely no distortion. what that means is that every crystal in the deposit is broadcasting in a coordinated manner. Indeed, attempts at arranging Hiridiu crystals to create interference have failed even under laboratory conditions, as the crystals intelligently adjust their rebroadcasts on the fly. In-depth analysis of the crystal atomic structure have revealed complex structures vaguely reminiscent of logic gates, though seemingly lacking anything to flow through them. Where the power to boost the signal, and how the crystal coordinate such efforts remain a total mystery. When employed purposefully certain shapes and arrangements of Hiridiu can be used to increase its efficiency, or shape it into a directed broadcast.

Ionite - recently discovered AM, Originally brought to our attention as a minor source of income by selling Ionite minters mechanical timers. While it has been described as having a naturally alternating current, that is both wildly inaccurate and somewhat misleading. what it actually does is project a field that reacts with current by condensing around it in a perfect opposite of that current. The upper limit of how much energy the field can cancel, as well as it's radius increases in a linear fashion with the mass of Ionite . It should be noted there is at all levels a lower limit of what would trigger this, thus most life forms have no need to worry about neurological disruption. Study of Ionite and its nullification field have been proceeding extremely slowly, as it tends to destroy any equipment that is used to try and study it. Even it's atomic structure remains a mystery at this time. What is known is that it is capable of projecting its field though all known forms of energy barriers, and can attain at least some penetration through all known forms of matter. It has also been observed beginning to cancel other forms of electromagnetic energy near dense masses of Ionite . It is theorized that a sufficiently dense mass of Ionite could begin canceling broad sections of the electromagnetic spectrum, possibly including heat. Experiments to test this have tended to result is a significant loss of life and propriety, Most famously when Someone attempted to use an Agrocite powered apparatus. Exactly what when wrong is unknown, but the resulting anomaly was centered on the Agrocite storage rather than the apparatus itself. It has been theorized that creating a strong pulse of this nullification field over a large area would be possible by running the right kind of energy though a prepared Ionite sample, however, this remains largely theoretical.

Lightsaber crystals- While the jedi have successfully suppressed most research into the inner workings of lightsabers, enough has been done to confirm that almost universally they employ some form of AM. Given the only part of a lightsaber that cannot be sourced from normal parts is the focusing crystal, it can be deduced that the crystal at the heart of a saber is the AM. Strangely, many sabers use crystals that are not otherwise unusual, and yet when analyzed in a lightsaber they do display anomalous properties. Frustratingly, they do not display consistent anomalous properties. With each individual saber designed to take advantage of the crystals new properties to produce the signature blade. While many jedi will speak at length about the subtle differences of their sabers, and there deep and personal meaning, the difference tend to be near impossible to notice. In practice, any given saber can piece any given material that lacks the ability to disrupt it's containment envelope and will fail to pierce any material that can disrupt said envelope. If there is any practical difference, it is masked by the shee amount of variance in Jedi fighting styles. What is of far greater interest is the implications that jedi can apparently transmute mostly mundane crystals into unique forms of AM. Tellingly, many jedi consider the construction of their lightsaber as a sign of force mastery, and many craft it while in a trancelike state. The obvious implication that they are somehow using the force to imbue the crystal with unique properties are intriguing, and may shed some light on why most forms of AM are crystalline in nature.

Phrik- Only recently discovered, Phriks is fascinating form of AM. in its pure form it's near indestructible, taking over a full order of magnitude more energy to damage or deform than even belkar, intriguingly It seems to resist all forms of energy equally. More interesting still is how it seems to assimilate properties of materials is mixed with. Famously blending near perfectly with local bedrock until discovered when a seemingly mundane layer of sandstone shattered a high-performance drill assembly. Possibly applications of this ability beggar belief, and may make feasible some near ludicrous feats of engineering. managment again reminds all employees that experiments involving phrik and other forms of Anomalous Materials have been put on hold indefinitely, pending construction of a purpose-built deep space research station. Management would like to further remind you that all other forms of AM are banned from facilities containing Phrik, and all Phirk samples are to be confined to designated faculties. violation of these regulations is punishable by immediate dismissal without compensation and possible legal action.

Stygium- also known as stealth crystals. Mostly used in the construction of high end cloaking devices. at the lower end they muffle and distort emissions and sensor returns greatly reducing the sensor profile of a ship. High end Stygium clocking devices work by actually moving the ship slightly out of phase. This renders the affected ship both totally blind and completely undetectable, as energy and matter in insufficient concentration to disrupt the filed will simply pass though the vessel without interacting with it. should the displacement field fail, the preceding gravity pulse is usually enough to displace any matter that would otherwise occupy the same space as the previously clocked vessel. Research for using Stygium displacement fields for industrial purposes by holding matter in place while dephased matter rephrases around it are ongoing.

conclusion: AM remain a great untapped source of power and potential in the galaxy. While most remain content to use them only for the most basic and obvious purpose, it is our belief that a closer look would revel far more rewarding uses and applications. The way forward is difficult and expensive, but the rewards would allow for the creation of breathtaking feats of engineering. By more fully utilizing AM we would not only be achieving great profits, but we would be doing our part to make the galaxy a better place. It should be noted we are uniquely well positioned to lead the charge on this, we have a prod history of working closely with lady Ciaran whose reputation and extensive network of charities would enable her to easily gather large amounts of AM for peaceful purposes. After all, who else would be trusted with martials that could do such horrifying damage should they fall into the wrong hands?

Brilliant.
Anomalous Martial overview.
As before, can I edit & reformat it into a 'classified document' structure?
By definition an AMs properties are not fully understood, and should it's properties ever be fully understood it will cease to be classified as an AM.
Also, considering I previously used 'Exotic Materials' as the name of the research division, could I rename 'Anomalous Materials' to be 'Exotic Materials' instead?
