Well shit, looks like all that unconscious Shatterpointing really got a workout.

I like to think that Ciaran had a lot of 'bad feelings ' and hunches this turn.

Some A frankly absurd number of suggestions for @Dr. Snark, looking forward to our results this turn:

Onderon Flashpoint: 60% Rolled 57+23+20=100
I'm really really hoping a '100 Crit' is good enough to canonize Panory's 'Overextension' omake -- where Thrawn destroys Sev'rance Tann's entire droid army and steals her Heart of Csilla flagship. If the ship's origin does become public, it should be easy enough to hand-wave as "the Onderon resistance seized a Separatist vessel and offered it as a gift to Lady Ciaran in exchange for being allowed entry into the CNS." Whether Ciaran uses it for the Abyss Watchers (could we hire some of the Onderon refugees & resistance fighters to crew the thing?) or gives it to the CNS would be a separate matter. My instinct would be to 'loan' it to the CNS Navy, letting them use it as the centerpiece of their fleet (and letting them pay to maintain it), while retaining formal ownership. Preferably with the option of regaining full control at a later date if needed for a major military operation -- like, say, the fight against Palpatine...

Hunter of Mandalorians: 50% Rolled 58+25+20=103
Considering that the possible rewards were 'stalled' vs. 'possibly eliminated', I'm hoping that an 'Over 100 Crit' is good enough to end Durge once and for all. Or -- even better! -- perhaps @Dr. Snark could merge this crit with our 'Virus Library' one -- one of our researchers sees something useful, points it out to Grievous, Grievous uses it to incapacitate Durge and capture him for future medical research & experimentation. Because Durge is Gen'Dai, and Gen'Dai are "seemingly immortal" creatures of regenerating nerve & muscle tissue, and frankly regenerative anything would make for an amazing specimen to research & potentially replicate.

I can't find the link, but back when I was researching Clan Skirata I saw a mention of Gen'Dai tissue being used for clone commando research -- that the geneticists working with/for Kal Skirata were fascinated by its regenerative abilities, and believed that it held the key to fixing the clones' accelerated aging issue.

...Please?

Shadow Meeting: 80% Rolled 25+5+20=50
Well, it wasn't a failure. We meet the key figures of the anti-Palpatine party, and they meet us. This would almost certainly include:
  • Garm Bel Iblis (Corellia)
  • Mon Motha (Cahndrila)
  • Bail Organa (Alderaan)
  • Onaconda Farr (Rodia)
  • Lexi Dio (Uyter)
You might also consult the Wookiepedia pages for Loyalist Committee, the Delegation of 2000, and the Republic Group for other names. Or, if you'd prefer, I can comb over these and write up a dossier on the key anti-Palpatine figures we should know about, like I did for Clan Skirata.]

Let me know what you'd prefer.

Mission to Qiilura: 70% Nat 1 Rerolled to 66+10+20=96
Well, that natural 1 almost killed us, but the critical reroll was a godsend. Hopefully it's a big enough success to make this omake canon as well, and persuade Etain Tur-Mukan to leave the Jedi Order, join the group at Kyrimorut, and possibly help us out with Force training as well. If we do persuade her to become a 'part-time Lore advisor' (or if that's a possible action for next turn), I had another idea for a potential reward.

One problem with our Lore actions is that we have a bottleneck. We spend 1 action on Archaeology, and 1 action for everything else -- mostly 'researching alternate schools' and their techniques, so Ciaran can learn them the following turn. However, if this keeps up it would mean that we would not be able to spend an action teaching those new techniques to our Abyss Agents.

So, a reward for gaining Etain as a 'part time advisor' this turn might be "slight chance that agents gain a new technique."

If it requires a separate action next turn to bring her (or another Jedi/Force User) on board as a quasi-advisor, that reward might be "+1 Lore Action" that can solely be used to train & develop Abyss Agents. Basically this would make the process more streamlined, so we'd learn new techniques, teach them to our agents, and have Ciaran learn them on her own (and/or with Asajj) as well.

Meetings with SoroSuub: 80% Rolled 66+10+20=96
Oh this makes me happy. A critical success for our first meeting with SoroSuub, and a big leap forward in our plan to oust Shu Mai from the Commerce Guild (I told you it was our theme song). A few things to consider, as far as concrete benefits:
  • The SoroSuub headquarters is on Sullust, a volcanic planet that is a major industrial center in the far southern Outer Rim. Could we get a discount on building a base there next turn? Sullust is basically controlled by SoroSuub, so there'd be plenty of investment opportunities.
  • One item of interest on Sullust, though it may date from the later Imperial era: SoroSuub has extensive psychological screening for its employees, and those who 'fail' (for being too independent or free-thinking or crazy) are rejected/reassigned and moved to a quasi-sanctuary city called Fulluusub. Perhaps SoroSuub would encourage us to take these 'troublesome elements' off their hands and hire them for the Abyss Watchers
  • More generally: the native 'Sullastan' race are considered the best pilots and navigators in the galaxy (their reputation with starships is basically equal to the Ithorians' reputation with agriculture). Perhaps we could hire them to crew our new Heart of Csilla flagship and/or our Chu'unthor praxeum-ship and/or the other ships of the CNS Navy? Sullustans are also widely considered to be above-average engineers -- not as spectacular as their reputation for starship piloting, but still solid, so they should be useful as mechanics etc.
  • Back to SoroSuub: they deal in pretty much everything from energy mining to food processing. They have interests on a bunch of other planets in the region (with a major presence in the just-plain-weird Cularin system), and have ties to pretty much everyone of importance, including Incom Corp. (through their president Beolar Bribbs), Metatheran Cartel (Trade Federation wannabes), and the Commerce Guild itself.
  • Because the most notable manufactured product in the Star Wars canon is starships, we know a few of the ones SoroSuub produces, including a reverse-engineered Headhunter clone called the G-59 Cannibalizer and (later) the Dauntless-class heavy cruisers used by the Rebellion to flee Hoth in Empire Strikes Back. They also build landspeeders, including the one used by Luke in the original Star Wars. They also produce the two most-recognizable handheld comlinks used in the movies.
  • Basically, SoroSuub is the go-to manufacturer for pretty much any generic product used in the Star Wars Extended Universe. Seriously. Just check out that list.

Exploiting the Eclipse: 70% Rolled 65+10+20=95
Excellent. Another critical success, on another income-generating action. Hopefully this means you'll give us a foothold on Ord Mantell and Af'El -- those are the two ones I'd most like to see. Even if you don't give us a base directly, then perhaps 'business investments' that would give a discount on purchasing a base in that system next turn?

Resignation Programs: 50% Rolled 36+28+20=84
Solid success, though 6 away from being a crit. I'd love to see an interlude for this, with the interactions between Asajj and Ordo (or the other Null ARCs that work with her). Not to mention Walon Vau, that a cliched 'gruff drill sergeant hard-ass' who loves his soldiers and shows it by keeping them alive, their feelings be damned. Perhaps that'd be more of a @Panory omake, though.

Fry's Fried Codebreaker: 60% Rolled 11+20+20=51
'Solid' success, though 1 or 2 away from being 'Bare'. Yeesh. While we can't expect much from this, hopefully it's enough to get the winning bid on the codebreaker (and/or reveal the CIS mole in Taly's company). More broadly, can we at least 1) keep Siri alive and 2) open the door for future actions with Taly?

The Enigma Of Scipio: 50% Rolled 46+26+20=86
Another solid success. I'm not sure if this roll warrants Grievous finding out about San Hill's assassination attempt on him, but it's certainly enough to figure out what Rush Clovis's play here is. Next turn should be fun.

Research Alternative Force Schools (Makutai): 70% Rolled 20+5+20=45
Good enough.

Archaeological Expeditions (Dathomir): 80% Rolled 37+5+20=62
I really desperately want the Chu'unthor, but I'm not sure this roll warrants it. Two possibilities. 1) We discover & recover it, but it takes more upfront effort & money to refurbish and restore than it otherwise would have. Or, 2) we discover it along with some other Dathomir oddities, but it'd take another action to recover it successfully and use as a Force-research base. @Dr. Snark: thoughts?

Develop Virus Library: 80% Rolled 80+20+20=120
Ooh la la. That rarest of creatures: a 'Super Critical Success'. May I remind you of a few suggestions I had posted earlier?
My plan lets us acquire a Virus Library, which should help with "vaccines and bioweapons" -- both of which we'll be dealing with extensively when we start trying to fix the clone commandos (of inhibitor chips & accelerated aging). Also, I would point out that ysalamiri, senflax, and taozin could all technically be described as anti-Force bioweapons, so the Wesker data might help us out with those as well....
As mentioned above, this could also be paired with the 'Durge' results to give us a living Gen'Dai specimen to study for regenerative tissue... (Please?)

Have You Tried Turning It Off And On Again?: 60% Rolled 11+25+20=56
Solid success, nothing to write home about. We reactivate HK-47, though he's not entirely persuaded to help us out. Time to break out the big guns: The Silencer demonstrates "communication through combat" (and trounces HK-47 in hand-to-hand), while Lady Ciaran causally mentions that she met Kreia and was selected to inherit the Darth Traya mantle...

Force Training (Blazing Chains): 70% Rolled 10+5+20=35
Panory's omake is pretty much perfect. I would love a chance to follow this up with further training actions.

Force Training (Shatterpoint): 70% Rolled 56+5+20=81
Much better. As above, I wonder if we could continue to develop this into something like Mace Windu's 'metaphysical' shatterpoint, where we begin to see the shatterpoint of events and people just as well as we see the shatterpoint of objects...

PR-1: Upgrades Required: 70% Rolled 42+26+20=86
Good things happen to those who wait.

Silas Cata: The Pantoran Blockade: 60% Rolled 8+27+20=55
And Silas gains another grandchild. I'd be interested to see what income we gain from 'smuggling' goods past the Trade Federation 'blockade'....

Okay, it is becoming genuinely difficult to find the actual posts to this in a sea of non-canon posts, is there any way I can filter them out?

Hopefully it's a big enough success to make this omake canon

I have no idea why it wouldn't be. The omake makes pretty much no mention of how the meeting went, or the extent of the effect Tyro's conversation had on Etain.

Panory's omake is pretty much perfect.

Why thank you.

Okay, it is becoming genuinely difficult to find the actual posts to this in a sea of non-canon posts, is there any way I can filter them out?

The threadmarks have it all in order for you. Turns first, with relevant interludes and canon omakes sprinkled in where appropriate, followed by canon omakes not tied to turns, followed by non-canon but maybe someday omakes, followed by fully non-canon omakes. Literally starting at page one and hitting the arrows at the end of each post would let you see only canon content until you run out.

I've seen two suggested solution for some of the threadmark confusion:

1) Dr. Snark condenses to links to all "Non-Canon" omakes, all "Currently Non-Canon" omakes, and/or any non-story "Canon" omakes into three individual posts with links. Those 'index' posts would then be threadmarked, while the individual omake posts would have their threadmarks removed.

Alternately:

2) Dr. Snark creates three posts for the three categories above (with or without linked lists), threadmarks them, then nests all of the non-story omakes under them to move them out of the way.

Or some combination of the two (index post for non-canon, nested list for canon & "current non-canon"?) Ideally, these omake categories would be moved closer to the top of the threadmark list, so the most recent threadmark would always be the most recent story posts.

Ultimately, though, it's up to @Dr. Snark. (Though if he'd like my help making the 'index' post of links, he only needs to ask).

... He's a droid. He obeys whoever he recognises as his owner. And he's perfectly happy to accept "Has physical possession of him, turned him on, and is willing to let him kill people" as his only criteria for ownership. More likely he's just needs some repair work to be back to one hundred percent.

I'm sure we can appeal to HK-47's base instincts. I mean Palpatine is an interesting target, sure the greatest assassin droid in history has fought Sith Lords and gunned down politicians, but he's never had to fight a Sith Lord who was also the Supreme Chancellor. Not to mention Palpatine is far stronger than the average Sith and would probably have given Revan a run for his money.

....I would like to think that even Shinji Ikari has more dignity than Kylo Ren.

At least he just suffers from a lack of self worth and motivation.

Kylo Ren, on the other hand, was a Darth Vader wannabe.

True, but I wouldn't mind incorporating his 'stop blaster bolts with mind' trick.

Darth Vader has a lot of fans out-of-universe. Kylo Ren is an example of a Darth Vader fan in-universe.

We could handwave it as "for the duration of the conflict" and then bring in the captain or the high command of the CNS (they will have to be let known about this whole Sidious business) so if it comes down to it we can repeat Grievous's raid on Coruscant however politically damaging. Such a thing would be good paired with say a civil war in the clone ranks as it would be an absolutely chaotic few months if Palpy is able to initiate order 66.

Also this investigation into whatever's happening on the moon wouldn't that be the Spaarti Cloning process which allows for clones to be made over a year. (Have people already come up with this? I dont want to insult peoples intelligence but I also cant go back over a good few pages of discussion as I'm heading off to a lecture in a bit).

Also wouldn't the whole President of Taris be a "big goddamned deal" like that should give us at least several additional actions even if they're only ones that can be focused on Taris (like +1 Diplo, +1 Stewardship, +1 Intrigue (maybe even more)). We'd be given access to the Tarisian Civil Service which is a massive deal as yes I can definitely see automation being used . If you were to use numbers from the European Union Commission (and executive with the ability to propose legislation ) of about 33,000 civil servants who focus on legislation (not like other civil servants whom deliver post for example) for about 508 million people. If we were to reduce that to around 25,000 civil servants for an arbitrary introduction of automation of some jobs (I'd argue its close to impossible to automate politics unless you went with benevolent ai's to run the state) that'd be a civil service of around 4,921,260 civil servants at our disposal.

And thats purely the "non" spy side of the civil service. I cant find any explicit numbers on behalf of intelligence agencies but that seems to make sense but estimates for the UK should be around a total of 50,000 people in all the TLA's in the UK + GCHQ ( it might actually be bigger but I'm being too lazy to find actual numbers).

Also an intrigue action which I want to suggest @Dr. Snark which is more applicable to the CIS at the moment but as we identify players on the side of Palpatine we can turn around on them is this. During the Cold War due to the Soviets penchant for killing their own people out of paranoia that we were infiltrating load of officials the United Kingdom used that against them. Using "Black Information" (both a reference to the financial terms as well as Black Propaganda) where we basically falsified an individuals allegiance to the west (whom we wanted dead) and had it "stolen", "leaked" or other such "verbed's" and the person was in old Russian tradition "disappeared" and we sat pretty. As such we can use the sith's penchant for disappearing people to our advantage.

This is the first time i'm proposing an action for inclusion next turn under the intrigue bar so bear with me.

[] Black Information. They're better off dead anyway: An intriguing if perfidious and devious opportunity has come up, due to the CIS and Sith penchant for paranoia and killing those they perceive as working against them with very little judicial process. What better way than to remove your enemies by getting your enemies to do it for you. By falsifying evidence to an extent that it can be considered irrefutable we can see to it that troublesome individuals in the CIS are not so troublesome. Chance of success ??%. Rewards: CIS war effort hampered, Quality of CIS leadership weakened. Extra stuff i guess to make it a more attractive pick??

...Yeah this makes sense. Canon, +10.

Okay, it is becoming genuinely difficult to find the actual posts to this in a sea of non-canon posts, is there any way I can filter them out?

*groans*

Real-talk, the reason I haven't actually gotten around to that is because it'd be a massively tedious thing to actually get the omakes organized like that since that kind of system should be implemented before you get like 50 of the things.

I hoped that organizing threadmarks like I had would help with this but it looks like that was more of a triage solution.

Please do.

As a general heads-up due to finally becoming a more productive member of society again my update schedule is going to be slowing down quite a bit and I'll be less responsive than I was before. Just to let you know.

To be honest, I think it would make a lot of sense if Ciaran just didn't have the time to actually run for the Taris election, due to other obligations, thusly her name wasn't even actually on the ballot.

I mean, with what she's done for the people there, if her name was on the ballot, she'd get an enormous amount of support.. and would some people even be willing to run against the one that arguably saved them and has done so much for the hordes of refugees? Never mind if she actually campaigned at all.. I mean, it'd be an upset the likes of Churchill and the Conservatives losing in 1945.. just without all the underlying factors that led to Churchill and co losing the general election.

That was some pretty Tsun dice.

Honestly, the current omake situation seems needlessly complicated. Most quest have the omakes either in whatever place they have been written chronologically, or have them put where they fit into the chronologically of the story. As far as I can see @Dr. Snark did this with most canon omakes, but putting all the others at the end seems like an unnecessary effort and also makes a big mess of them, to the point that I make sure to read the thread because I would certainly miss new omake in the threadmarks.

I'm not sure whether removing all the threadmarks of non-canon omake and listing them in a threadmarked post would be clearer than moving them all to whatever time they were written or not, though.

I can imagine that she wasn't technically on the ballot, so the winning guy's Mother voting for him, and his own vote, were technically the only valid ones, while the billions of write-ins aren't :V

Also, people versed in SW lore, any other superships around we could dig up?

Pall's Darths & Pool

Being one with the Force meant very little to those not sensitive to it in life: though their existance continued after a fashion, it wouldn't be incorrect to describe them as "resting in peace". For those that had been born with the gift to manipulate the Force in life, instead, becoming one with it was a much more interesting affair, comparable to being in a warm bath made of life along with your departed loved ones, various ancient sages and an almost unending well knowledge about the Force to explore.

The problem was the "almost" part. To cut a long story short, even the most devoted researcher at some point reached the end of what there was to know about the Force, the most emotional reunions turned into routine visits and after a few centuries or millennia everybody knew everybody else and there was nothing more to do than watch the new generations fumble around with your legacy or generally snap at them as old people are wont to do. Every new face was almost overwhelmed by their welcome, until they understood it didn't come so much from enlightment as from unfathomable boredom.

So it went for millennias until a certain Dark Lord of the Sith (the first!) upgraded from Earth-bound ghost to Heaven-bound ghost and decided to do something about it.

Thus it was that the first and most successful afterlife Cantina was born as an alternative to endlessly watch the Living mess up everything you ever stood for and/or continue on the path to self destruction you had walked yourself. It was a true revolution, with new establishments and services springing up like mushrooms giving birth to a rudimentary economic service based on debt... it was the best anyone could do, considering nobody actually needed anything and all currencies and services were actually a delusion everybody was determined to keep up. The economists were convinced that it would work just fine and, even if it didn't, it wouldn't be their fault.

Anyhow, Pall's Darths & Pool had now kept afloat for a few millennia, surviving the recurring economic collapses and standing like a light in the endless dark to those who really, really, needed a beer.

It was such a soul that entered the establishment late one evening (the Standard Dead Time has long since been considered the greatest achievement of the United Ghosts Organisation). It wasn't a new face, or a liked one, but her particular circumstances put her in the small number of spirits welcomed more or less by everyone in the afterlife. Spotting one of the few people living or dead she actually liked sitting at the bar nursing a smoking blue cocktail, she slumped in the empty stool at their right and ordered the strongest drink on the list. Considering it was a beverage extracted from the very concept of "alcohol" as experienced from all life in the Galaxy since its beginning, it was pretty strong stuff.

"Ugh, going down below is nice and all, but damn if the stairs back up don't make my old bones creak." She broke the ice, nursing her congealed drunkness.

"Not a minute in here and already boasting, Kreia?" The barkeep interjected taking the empty drink from the person besides her and putting a new one on the counter.

"If you got it, flaunt it, Pall. It's not my fault only a handful of us ever thought about coming back before we died." The insinuating remarks were one of the many reasons people avoided the old woman.

"Yeah, yeah, you're smarter than everyone else forever, we know. Now, rumors are you went down to speak to that young little thing keeping everyone on their toes, d'you want to add anything?" The bartender leaned forward eager for new gossip to spread and the person next to her stopped pretending he hadn't noticed her.

"Mmmh let's see, I spoke with her a bit, gave her the classic ordeal to test her mettle... like we hadn't all spent the last few years amusing ourselves watching her lead everyone else by the nose." The blind woman's tone was wry as she calmly sipped from her glass. "Oh and I made her my heir."

A half polished glass slipped from Ajunta Pall's nerveless fingers and shattered on the ground as the man at her side choked on his drink and tried to speak through his coughing fit.

"W-what?"

"Oh yeah, after I cleared up some misunderstandings she held about the Force I gave her my old title and she seemed interested in its mantle." The cackle that followed imprinted on the Force and formed the archetype of evil old witch for innumerable young species to come.

"So there's a new Darth Traya roaming the Galaxy now, uh?" The first Dark Lord of the Sith tried to sound less anxious than he felt. He failed. Meanwhile the other man stood up and stretched a little.

"Aand that's my call... seems like I need to go down and fix this. Ugh." The younger man sounded completely apathetic.

"That's awfully energetic of you, Revan. Used to be we had to get Bastila or your kids to make you do anything." Pall sounded aggravated by the mere memory.

"Yeah, but if I do something before she starts bothering me, she's so proud of me I can get away with doing less overall. Well, I'll be on my way." The man yawned.

"Not to rain on your parade, child, but you never bothered learning to come back from the Force while alive so you can't actually return now, not even with your wonky Grey Jedi powers."

"First: the Grey Jedi thing was just a phase I outgrew, mum. Second: I mastered the Light side, then the Dark one, then the Light again and after I recovered my memories the Dark a second time, too. Unless somebody here has done the same, I'm pretty confident saying I know what I'm doing."

"You also got put under ice for three centuries like leftovers from dinner." Never say Pall had lost his taste for bursting bubbles.

"It never happened, but that reminds me-" the Reformed Sith/Jedi (depending on who you asked) turned towards the rest of the pub- "Hey, Vitiate!"

"What?" Answered a figure in the back.

"Blow me!" The other patrons laughed at the common exchange and Revan disappeared.

"Well damn, he actually did it." Ajunta wandered towards a new patron shaking his head.

Kreia smiled, both because it was nice to hear Revan call him mother and because it was even better to see she hadn't lost her touch and could still manipulate her old students without their knowledge.

"Oh, I know, I just like to indulge you, granny." Revan reappeared for a second and was gone the next.

Kreia just slowly finished her drink.

EDIT: Revan is inspired by Sarah1281's excellent "So Not My Problem", obviously.

....There's quite a few, but....

Some of them are better left alone or very, very difficult to find.

Like the Katana Fleet.
We have Incom for fighters, Kuat for capitals, SoroSuub for everything in-between, and Sienar to tune top-shelf ships into something else.

Maybe we should focus on building up our fleet next turn?

From what I've read, a proper Lucrehulk battleship takes a flotilla of Star Destroyers just to bring down its shields. And we can have Sienar upgrade it from that baseline.

I had thought we needed a custom Flagship, but the Oracle might just do. I didn't know it had a diameter equally to two Star Destroyers lined up.

Maybe give Thrawn carte blanché to write down his ideal fleet composition, and commission it from said companies? The bulk of it from SoroSuub, the capitals from Kuat, more fighters for said capital's compliment from Incom, hand it all over to Sienar to tune up?
