Some A frankly absurd number of suggestions for
@Dr. Snark, looking forward to our results this turn:
Onderon Flashpoint: 60% Rolled 57+23+20=100
I'm really
really hoping a '
100 Crit' is good enough to canonize Panory's 'Overextension' omake -- where Thrawn destroys Sev'rance Tann's entire droid army and steals her
Heart of Csilla flagship. If the ship's origin does become public, it should be easy enough to hand-wave as "the Onderon resistance seized a Separatist vessel and offered it as a gift to Lady Ciaran in exchange for being allowed entry into the CNS." Whether Ciaran uses it for the Abyss Watchers (could we hire some of the Onderon refugees & resistance fighters to crew the thing?) or gives it to the CNS would be a separate matter. My instinct would be to 'loan' it to the CNS Navy, letting them use it as the centerpiece of their fleet (and letting them pay to maintain it), while retaining formal ownership. Preferably with the option of regaining full control at a later date if needed for a major military operation -- like, say, the fight against Palpatine...
Hunter of Mandalorians: 50% Rolled 58+25+20=103
Considering that the possible rewards were 'stalled' vs. 'possibly eliminated', I'm hoping that an '
Over 100 Crit' is good enough to end Durge once and for all. Or -- even better! -- perhaps
@Dr. Snark could merge this crit with our 'Virus Library' one -- one of our researchers sees something useful, points it out to Grievous, Grievous uses it to
incapacitate Durge and capture him for future medical research & experimentation. Because Durge is Gen'Dai, and
Gen'Dai are "seemingly immortal" creatures of regenerating nerve & muscle tissue, and frankly regenerative
anything would make for an amazing specimen to research & potentially replicate.
I can't find the link, but back when I was researching Clan Skirata I saw a mention of Gen'Dai tissue being used for clone commando research -- that the geneticists working with/for Kal Skirata were fascinated by its regenerative abilities, and believed that it held the key to fixing the clones' accelerated aging issue.
...Please?
Shadow Meeting: 80% Rolled 25+5+20=50
Well, it wasn't a failure. We meet the key figures of the anti-Palpatine party, and they meet us. This would almost certainly include:
- Garm Bel Iblis (Corellia)
- Mon Motha (Cahndrila)
- Bail Organa (Alderaan)
- Onaconda Farr (Rodia)
- Lexi Dio (Uyter)
You might also consult the Wookiepedia pages for
Loyalist Committee, the
Delegation of 2000, and the
Republic Group for other names. Or, if you'd prefer, I can comb over these and write up a dossier on the key anti-Palpatine figures we should know about, like I did for Clan Skirata.]
Let me know what you'd prefer.
Mission to Qiilura: 70% Nat 1 Rerolled to 66+10+20=96
Well, that natural 1 almost killed us, but the critical reroll was a godsend. Hopefully it's a big enough success to make
this omake canon as well, and persuade Etain Tur-Mukan to leave the Jedi Order, join the group at Kyrimorut, and possibly help us out with Force training as well. If we do persuade her to become a 'part-time Lore advisor' (or if that's a possible action for next turn), I had another idea for a potential reward.
One problem with our Lore actions is that we have a bottleneck. We spend 1 action on Archaeology, and 1 action for everything else -- mostly 'researching alternate schools' and their techniques, so Ciaran can learn them the following turn. However, if this keeps up it would mean that we would
not be able to spend an action teaching those new techniques to our Abyss Agents.
So, a reward for gaining Etain as a 'part time advisor' this turn might be "slight chance that agents gain a new technique."
If it requires a separate action next turn to bring her (or another Jedi/Force User) on board as a quasi-advisor, that reward might be "+1 Lore Action" that can solely be used to train & develop Abyss Agents. Basically this would make the process more streamlined, so we'd learn new techniques, teach them to our agents, and have Ciaran learn them on her own (and/or with Asajj) as well.
Meetings with SoroSuub: 80% Rolled 66+10+20=96
Oh this makes me
happy. A critical success for our first meeting with SoroSuub, and a
big leap forward in our plan to oust Shu Mai from the Commerce Guild (I told you it was
our theme song). A few things to consider, as far as concrete benefits:
- The SoroSuub headquarters is on Sullust, a volcanic planet that is a major industrial center in the far southern Outer Rim. Could we get a discount on building a base there next turn? Sullust is basically controlled by SoroSuub, so there'd be plenty of investment opportunities.
- One item of interest on Sullust, though it may date from the later Imperial era: SoroSuub has extensive psychological screening for its employees, and those who 'fail' (for being too independent or free-thinking or crazy) are rejected/reassigned and moved to a quasi-sanctuary city called Fulluusub. Perhaps SoroSuub would encourage us to take these 'troublesome elements' off their hands and hire them for the Abyss Watchers
- More generally: the native 'Sullastan' race are considered the best pilots and navigators in the galaxy (their reputation with starships is basically equal to the Ithorians' reputation with agriculture). Perhaps we could hire them to crew our new Heart of Csilla flagship and/or our Chu'unthor praxeum-ship and/or the other ships of the CNS Navy? Sullustans are also widely considered to be above-average engineers -- not as spectacular as their reputation for starship piloting, but still solid, so they should be useful as mechanics etc.
- Back to SoroSuub: they deal in pretty much everything from energy mining to food processing. They have interests on a bunch of other planets in the region (with a major presence in the just-plain-weird Cularin system), and have ties to pretty much everyone of importance, including Incom Corp. (through their president Beolar Bribbs), Metatheran Cartel (Trade Federation wannabes), and the Commerce Guild itself.
- Because the most notable manufactured product in the Star Wars canon is starships, we know a few of the ones SoroSuub produces, including a reverse-engineered Headhunter clone called the G-59 Cannibalizer and (later) the Dauntless-class heavy cruisers used by the Rebellion to flee Hoth in Empire Strikes Back. They also build landspeeders, including the one used by Luke in the original Star Wars. They also produce the two most-recognizable handheld comlinks used in the movies.
- Basically, SoroSuub is the go-to manufacturer for pretty much any generic product used in the Star Wars Extended Universe. Seriously. Just check out that list.
Exploiting the Eclipse: 70% Rolled 65+10+20=95
Excellent. Another critical success, on another income-generating action. Hopefully this means you'll give us a foothold on Ord Mantell and Af'El -- those are the two ones I'd most like to see. Even if you don't give us a base directly, then perhaps 'business investments' that would give a discount on purchasing a base in that system next turn?
Resignation Programs: 50% Rolled 36+28+20=84
Solid success, though 6 away from being a crit. I'd love to see an interlude for this, with the interactions between Asajj and Ordo (or the other Null ARCs that work with her). Not to mention Walon Vau, that a cliched 'gruff drill sergeant hard-ass' who loves his soldiers and shows it by keeping them alive, their feelings be damned. Perhaps that'd be more of a
@Panory omake, though.
Fry's Fried Codebreaker: 60% Rolled 11+20+20=51
'Solid' success, though 1 or 2 away from being 'Bare'. Yeesh. While we can't expect much from this, hopefully it's enough to get the winning bid on the codebreaker (and/or reveal the CIS mole in Taly's company). More broadly, can we at least 1) keep Siri alive and 2) open the door for future actions with Taly?
The Enigma Of Scipio: 50% Rolled 46+26+20=86
Another solid success. I'm not sure if this roll warrants Grievous finding out about San Hill's assassination attempt on him, but it's certainly enough to figure out what Rush Clovis's play here is. Next turn should be fun.
Research Alternative Force Schools (Makutai): 70% Rolled 20+5+20=45
Good enough.
Archaeological Expeditions (Dathomir): 80% Rolled 37+5+20=62
I really desperately want the
Chu'unthor, but I'm not sure this roll warrants it. Two possibilities. 1) We discover & recover it, but it takes more upfront effort & money to refurbish and restore than it otherwise would have. Or, 2) we discover it along with some other Dathomir oddities, but it'd take another action to recover it successfully and use as a Force-research base.
@Dr. Snark: thoughts?
Develop Virus Library: 80% Rolled 80+20+20=120
Ooh la la. That rarest of creatures: a '
Super Critical Success'. May I remind you of a few suggestions I had posted earlier?
My plan lets us acquire a Virus Library, which should help with "vaccines and bioweapons" -- both of which we'll be dealing with extensively when we start trying to fix the clone commandos (of inhibitor chips & accelerated aging). Also, I would point out that ysalamiri, senflax, and taozin could all technically be described as anti-Force bioweapons, so the Wesker data might help us out with those as well....
As mentioned above, this could also be paired with the 'Durge' results to give us a living Gen'Dai specimen to study for regenerative tissue... (Please?)
Have You Tried Turning It Off And On Again?: 60% Rolled 11+25+20=56
Solid success, nothing to write home about. We reactivate HK-47, though he's not entirely persuaded to help us out. Time to break out the big guns: The Silencer demonstrates "communication through combat" (and trounces HK-47 in hand-to-hand), while Lady Ciaran causally mentions that she met Kreia and was selected to inherit the Darth Traya mantle...
Force Training (Blazing Chains): 70% Rolled 10+5+20=35
Panory's omake is pretty much perfect. I would
love a chance to follow this up with further training actions.
Force Training (Shatterpoint): 70% Rolled 56+5+20=81
Much better. As above, I wonder if we could continue to develop this into something like Mace Windu's 'metaphysical' shatterpoint, where we begin to see the shatterpoint of
events and
people just as well as we see the shatterpoint of
objects...
PR-1: Upgrades Required: 70% Rolled 42+26+20=86
Good things happen to those who wait.
Silas Cata: The Pantoran Blockade: 60% Rolled 8+27+20=55
And Silas gains another grandchild. I'd be interested to see what income we gain from 'smuggling' goods past the Trade Federation 'blockade'....
