[X] Plan Twisted Hydra

[X] Onderon Flashpoint
-[X] Grievous
[X] Hunter of Mandalorians
-[X] Thrawn

Removing Tann and Durge from play is a necessity. One weakens Palpatine while the other strengthens Jango's position.

[X] Shadow Meeting
[X] Mission to Qiilura (CNS)
[X] President Ciaran - Free Action

We need to create an organised opposition to Palpatine and warn them of the danger he possesses. Qiilura lets us bring spaceshifting spies into the CNS. As for President Ciaran, we have a official stronghold to disguise the fact that we have a backup one. We could also use this to establish ourselves as a politician, not to mention we could annoy Padme. Depending on how things go with Palpatine we could be able to put our name down on the ballot paper. I mean Supreme Chancellor Ciaran has such a nice ring to it.

[X] Cord of Three Strands
[X] Bank of Ciaran

Strengthening ties with the IGBC to take them over. And credits.

[X] The Hunt For Ko Sai
-[X] The Silencer
[X] Fry's Fried Codebreaker
-[X] Silas Cata

Ko Sai is an expert scientist in the field of genetics and knows that Palpatine seeks to make himself immortal through cloning. She is responsible for curing the rapid ageing gene in the Clones and she might be useful to our research. Not to mention Kal might do us a favour with the Treasury.

As for Fry... I think other people have sung his praises, but I don't trust an advanced code breaking machine in the right hands... or the wrong hands that aren't our hands.

[X] Incorporate Luka Sene Techniques
[X] Archaeological Expeditions
-[X] Korriban
--[X] Ventress

Training the agents to become more lethal. As for Korriban... well if you want to kill a Sith Lord you need to ask the experts in the field. The Force Phantoms of Sith Lords.

[X] Analyze recovered research data and samples
[X] Have You Tried Turning It Off And On Again?

Checking over Wesker's data is a must... and I don't need to argue HK-47.

[X] Force Training
-[X] Blazing Chains
-[X] Shatterpoint

... nothing needs to be said.

[X] PR-1: Upgrades Required
[X] Cheriss Sair: Continued Frame Development

PR-1 needs an upgrade and the last time we let Cheriss design something we got force boosting cybernetics.

[X] Skirata Safehouse

Building relationships with Skirata.

[X] Beskar Iron Mine Lease

Improving the effectiveness of our elites for any straight up fight.

[X] Economic Planning Office
[X] Muun Banker Programs

Drawing in the IGBC and a 5% increase on all investments is oh so useful.

[X] Business Investments
[X] Warrior Recruitment Center

Credits and Wookiees is any better combination?

[X] Economic Planning Office
[X] Incom Branch
[X] Kelp Farms
[X] Salvage Teams

If this is to become the place we rule, then we must Make Taris Great Again! #MTGA

Cost: 1400

You know Asajj can become our double. Everyone thinks she is dead so she could use some appearance modification.

I can only imagine what happens when Ventress reveals that reports of her death were greatly exaggerated:

Ashoka: Ventress, she's alive?
Obi-Wan: She's on our side?
Anakin: She has hair?

Anakin respond is the correct one here, never assume a force user is dead until you sever his head personally and cast his spirit to the force and never assume that aligments in the force are eternal. But having hair when she was bald before, now thats a suprise.

After much debating with myself, I'm going to vote for

[X] Plan For The Love Of Money

While I'm not 100% sold on the actions not pertaining to the martial/intruige category, I do feel a lot of the other options in One for the Money aren't as immediately important. Additionally, I feel the hero support is more appropriately spread out for Publicola's plan.
Stealthy's plan was right-out not going to be voted for by me. It did not include Shatterpoint, my personal hill to die on. Not that anyone cares about the non-omake-factory-person :V

I'm going to be afk for the rest of this Sunday -- due to family & Superbowl things -- so I won't have a chance to respond to feedback or questions until much later. A few main points:

  • After feedback from Stealthy and Panory, I'm strongly considering swapping out the 'Exploiting the Eclipse' stewardship action with 'Bank of Ciaran'. For reasons why I should or shouldn't, see below. If you feel strongly about this -- one way or the other -- please let me know and I'll check the responses tonight when I return.
As for the Bank of Ciaran, I'm hoping that we can seal up the IGBC plan this turn. We'll deal with the Scipio holdout as well, but this is the coup de grace. Success here will formally bring the IGBC into Ciaran's fold, and out of Palpatine's. In canon, towards the end of the war Palpatine absorbed the banks under his Chancellorship/eventual Empire using a complex scheme to increase his personal power. However, we called dibs.
...That is a very good point, and made me seriously reconsider my Stewardship choice. At the same time, I'm pretty sure we won't be finishing off the IGBC this turn -- we're only 'investigating' Rush Clovis this round, and unless we score a major crit, we'll probably need to use that info in a separate action next turn. I'd prefer to hold off on our IGBC plans until we can do it in one fell swoop.

Also, Ord Mantell gives us a site to start recruiting Gurlanin, in case we don't score a major crit for the Qiilura action. The Gurlanin don't like offworlders owning land on their planet. Unless they're very pleased with us, chances are we'll need to base the 'recruitment center' out of its closest neighbor. Which happens to be a major trade hub formerly controlled by the Black Sun... :D

I'd back that up actually. The main draw seems to be a base to get the Gurlanin in case we don't super duper impress them this turn. But we might. For that reason, I'd say we hold off on consolidating what we have until we know if that big draw would be redundant anyways. If we solve the Gurlanin problem and don't have a way to recruit them, then we could look into it. But it would be a waste to get this fancy base for them, only for them to decide we're cool enough to hang with them on their own planet while Palpatine steals all the money.
Also a good point. My reasons for 'Eclipse':
  1. Money. Did I mention I like money? Ord Mantell is the trade hub & banking center for the northern Mid Rim. It lies directly between Coruscant and Muunilist, which means it's also a major meeting point for both parties. And at the top of the pyramid is a vacuum. Because we utterly eradicated the Black Sun. We don't have any business assets on the system, but this would definitely be a major source of ROI and a major center for extending our economic influence into the Mid Rim.
  2. Gurlanin. Yeah, I know, there's a chance they might let us settle on the planet if we roll a crit. However, that's only a chance, and Gurlanin agents are so absurdly useful that I'd prefer to get started on recruiting them ASAP. I found it oddly ironic when Killerflood talked about his 'financial conservatism', as though I weren't the same way. I like having back-ups, and making sure all our bases are covered. That's why I made sure no action had less than a 95% chance of success -- I could have doubled-down on hero support to make a single crit more likely (as @Stealthy is suggesting), but I'd prefer to make sure we don't miss anything.
  3. Money, pt. 2. Did I mention Af'El yet? Because that was also a Black Sun system, that has a natural monopoly on one critical component for making durasteel. AKA, the thing that everything is made out of. You know what else? The native population are such rubes, they're selling that precious meleenium in exchange for fish! I wish I were joking. As far as massive unexploited markets go, this one's a doozy.
  4. Defel. ...I can't believe I hadn't noticed this before. That native population? They're officially called 'Defel', though they're better known as 'wraiths'. Their distinctive trait? The ability to absorb all light, making them appear to be living, moving shadows. Yeah, creepy. Also terrifyingly effective assassins, for sneaking around in the middle of the night....
I want one.

So yeah, I can see why 'Exploiting the Eclipse' is considered a less urgent option. And it is one I'm willing to change. All the same -- that's a lot of goodies to be giving up.

  • I'm also considering -- though much less inclined -- to go with Stealthy's suggestion: swap out 'Shatterpoint' training for 'Personal Attention', apply it to "Resignation Programs', and move Ventress to help out with the Dathomir expedition instead. This would set the stage for an Intrigue mega-crit (77% odds of a critical success) while working with Kal Skirata, and might accelerate a lot of plans and/or gain us access to those Treasury records. OTOH, Dr. Snark made it seem very unlikely that he'd give us that Treasury access, and we'd be giving up a very powerful Lore ability. As before, if you have strong feelings one way or another, let me know. This probably won't happen unless there's an overwhelming desire to see it done.

Finally, reasons you should vote for me instead of Killerflood:
  • Killerflood's plan would have us teach Luka Sene techniques to our Abyss Agents -- which sounds fine, except it'd leave Ciaran with nothing to learn next turn once we finish with Blazing Chains and Shatterpoint. My plan lets us learn Matukai, so Ciaran can keep up the frenetic training pace and prepare for Palpatine.
  • Killerflood's plan starts us researching ysalamiri. Which would be amazing. However, in order to do this, he had to not chose something else. Specifically, he had to decide against following up on our Wesker mission, and the multiple critical successes we scored there for recovering research data. My plan lets us acquire a Virus Library, which should help with "vaccines and bioweapons" -- both of which we'll be dealing with extensively when we start trying to fix the clone commandos (of inhibitor chips & accelerated aging). Also, I would point out that ysalamiri, senflax, and taozin could all technically be described as anti-Force bioweapons, so the Wesker data might help us out with those as well....
  • Killerflood's plan buys safehouses on Coruscant and Mandalore, rather than takes the action that'd let us do it for free across the whole galaxy.
  • Killerflood's plan doesn't generate as much income as possible, even when that income is free (he skips two Taris base upgrades that would pay for themselves this turn). His plan doesn't purchase the economic planning office on Muunilist -- more worrisome, it doesn't purchase the base defenses either.
  • Killerflood's plan doesn't recruit Wookies! :o! It invests in Kashyyyk businesses, but doesn't touch the 'Warrior Recruitment Center'. Nor does it build up 'Local Defenses' in case the local Trandoshan slavers decide to raid the planet again.
Finally, one big reason you should vote for my Plan 'For The Love Of Money' (besides the awesome theme song):
  • I tailored the Hero Support specifically to ensure that various "Currently Non-Canon" omakes become canon. Partly this was for fun, but it also opens the door to a bunch of potential rewards -- assigning Thrawn to Onderon, for instance, makes it possible that this omake becomes canon, and Thrawn manages to steal Tann's flagship and bring it back for our own use (either in the CNS Navy or as part of our own Abyss Watcher fleet). Which would be ridiculously fun.

As mentioned, I'm going to be afk for the rest of the day, but I hope people will offer feedback by the time I get back. The vote is still close -- by my count, 'For The Love of Money' (Publicola's plan) currently has 13 votes, while 'One For The Money' (Killerflood's) has 7. Thanks, and I hope you all enjoy the Superbowl!

As Long as Brady/Belichek don't win, I'll enjoy the Superb Owl :V

That being said, I think that keeping the Eclipse option is more viable IMO if only for the durasteel monopoly potential. And as I said before, I will fucking die on Shatterpoint. The 'possibility' of a super crit netting us the I WIN button of the Treasury is NO MATCH FOR THE POWER OF THE FORCE! THE SHATTERFORCE!

Why, that seems like a perfectly reasonable and convincing set of argumen--

*sees the possibility of Shatterpoint being replaced*

OVER MY DEAD BODY.
This plan is terrible and you should feel terrible.
Also, there's a bomb under your bed and an assassin in your closet.

I'm alright with replacing eclipse with bank of ciaran.

On the other hand, I'm NOT okay with dropping the force training, we need it and we should keep it.

Why you should vote for me instead of @Publicola:

1. While the Safehouses across the galaxy might sound nice, they don't do anything for us right now. Getting with Sorosuub will likely add new income options next turn and also open up the plan to rip the commerce guild out from under Shu Mai. I've added a safehouse in Coruscant but as for galaxy wide, that can wait. I'm wanting to take control of galactic commerce as soon as possible and safehouses don't help that.
2. As for the Ysalamiri versus bio-weapons, it's simply a matter of what is needed first. We've already dealt with the only one dealing in bioweapons and that information from the critical isn't going anywhere. Palpatine however, should be our priority. Simply put, either of these could help. Publicola is focusing on the Clones as a weapon against Palpatine first, I am focusing on the Ysalamiri first. It's a simple preference choice.
3. Learning Luka Sene right now means we have another technique right now. What Publicola doesn't mention is that researching the Matukai doesn't actually teach us it, it only opens up the possibility for teaching. Learn Luka Sene and then research new material. Why waste time researching something else this turn when you could actually get that martial bonus?
4. As for my base upgrades, economic planning on muunilist doesn't pay for itself and my Balance is already at 378. Publicola's is all the way down at 246. Wookiee warriors sound nice and next turn we should get them but right now they wouldn't help us all that much and Publicola's scare tactics (;)) doesn't actually mean Kashyyyk is going to be attacked.
5. Publicola has chosen to rob the remnants of the Eclipse again whereas I have chosen to create a CNS bank. Stabilize the CNS more and provide incentive to join or rifle through nearly empty pockets for a small income boost? You decide.

EDIT:

As for my hero choices:
1. Grevious is already known to the Onderon rebels while Thrawn isn't. That Thrawn omake about him stealing Tann's ship sounds nice but it would rely on a critical. It would also show Thrawn to be a true threat and might see him come under fire when he doesn't need to be.
2. Ventress has been moved back to Dathomir increasing the chance there to 124% while Myrkr is still 90% certain.
3. Thrawn would be useful getting the Codebreaker as he can outmaneuver any arguments the Republic and CIS might make.

The others aren't as contentious so I don't feel the need to explain them.

Don't think there's a hard/fast rule. Depends on discussion and how far Publicola's plans are running away with the vote.
