Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Is this something that is going to harm our family? Because if so we will fucking destroy them, even if we have to take them down with us.

Is this something that will affect our company? If so we can take a couple of steps back in order to deliver a stronger punch later on.

Because either way, Sony will get hurt after their acts, it just depends on how much.
Well for one thing...

And this one thing is very important.

They did not give up on CD's. And are going to be pushing for lots of it to work.

Wait...last turn they were reeling from a bad lawsuit, are still dumping millions of dollars yearly on their Film ventures (and not getting the results desired all the time, their startegy is a costly one that focuses more on prestige than returns), and last time we heard from them they were nearly on the verge of losing their control on electronics.

How the heck do they then decide to focus on CD's when it's supposed to stilll be a technology that's still in its infancy, and would take an even greater investment than what they're putting in films for it to give results?

Are they a Privately owned company like us? Because otherwise this would make their shareholders more than nervous, and more like mutinous as their previous disasters would have made them lose money.

All I will say is that mother fuckers rolled a nat 100 and they see that they have the potential to win.

...

There are moments where I question the potency of a Nat 100...

Then I remember all the times it worked for us, and I can only think "That's fair".

It still makes it so infuriating when our opponent can benefit from it as well though.

We're still ahead in technological prowess though, so we might stil get to benefit, or make our own CD's when the time comes.

We just need to be faster.

Look on the bright side it can't get worse for us unless something incredibly bad happens…

And right now there shouldn't be anything like that

At least with the metric ton of evidence we bring in any victory they get should be tainted by bad pr,coruption or stuff like that no ?

@Magoose Does Mary have preferences or a Christmas wish list?
She does but it's hidden because Bruce dosent know it.

I will say this: she wants books. Lots of them
She does like math and wants to go to space, so perhaps we can support that and five her some advanced calculus books or something like that? Perhaps some of the Cam Jensen books as well, and there should be some fantasy that she could enjoy, right?

Movie Pitch: Thirteen Ghosts
When I first saw this movie I found it an interesting piece, but not something that would be that enthralling. It was only after I saw it for the third time that I realized that, yeah, I actually liked the film. Not that I was unaware of its bad spots, or how in many ways it seemed some times to be flat when it came to the actors or the story, but at the end I recognized the potential of it, how with some small changes, or alterations, it could have actually made it a pretty decent film overall.

Nowadays, this movie has become a "Cult Classic" (and with good reason in my opinion), but perhaps putting in a better story would not be out of hand. I've added a few changes down in order to make it flow better, and also to make the characters more likeable, because if I'm going to be honest, I felt more of the character of Dennis than for the father and children. Not to mention that the latter barely had any type of personalities at all.

Thus, I give you:

Movie Pitch:
Thirteen Ghosts

GENRE: Supernatural/Horror/Thriller

SUBGENRE: Action/Mystery/Suspense

FORMAT: Movie

Set Up: A remake of the 1960s film of the same name by William Castle. Arthur and his two children, Kathy and Bobby, inherit his Uncle Cyrus's estate: a glass house that serves as a prison to 12 ghosts. When the family, accompanied by Bobby's Nanny and an attorney, enter the house they find themselves trapped inside an evil machine "designed by the devil and powered by the dead" to open the Eye of Hell. Aided by Dennis, a ghost hunter, and his rival Kalina, a ghost rights activist out to set the ghosts free, the group must do what they can to get out of the house alive.

Director: Tobe Hooper
Composer: Alan Howarth

- The "Spirit Reclamation Business" is instead the "Spirit Containment Society". They do not protest against Cyrus Kriticos, but instead actively work to prevent him from hunting and capturing ghosts, well aware of what he's trying to do. Cyrus has more people working for him to counter them as well.

- The Spirit Containment Society's job is to find ghosts and contain them in specific areas where no one will go in order to reduce the amount of people who may die at their hands. That's what Kalina tells Arthur and the rest at the house.

- After the death of Jane, Arthur became obsessed with the Occult and the spiritual, having found his uncle's old books and trying to find a path to see her again. This caused their finances to take a hit, and is why they are living in a cramped apartment.

- Maggie is a hired Nanny, but is also their neighbor who helps take care of the children since she formed a bond with Bobby. She snaps at Arthur when during the search at the mansion he seems to care more in finding his wife's ghost than finding his children. This serves as a turning point as Arthur re-evaluates his priorities and helps in giving him the courage to jump to protect them at the end.

- The initial Scene where Kalina and Daimon are introduced is longer, making people think they may be the heroes. Daimon's death is hidden and heroic, right until it's revealed later on that Kalina planned it all to obtain the secrets of the "Ocularis Infernum" from the Spirit Containment Society, and gave it to Cyrus, which allowed him to build the House.

- There is no scene of Maggie screaming she's quitting, but there is a new scene at the end where the family packs their belongings on a truck as they plan to move, and she arrives to say goodbye.

- Both Bobby and Kathy have more personality than shown in the movie; Kathy being an angry teen, while Bobby being more somber and introverted.

- The Thirteen Ghosts will have their own Mini-Stories showing their background and lives, which will be available as "Additional Content" in the VHS at the end of the film.
Arthur Kriticos: He is a math teacher as well as the loving and caring husband of Jean and father of Bobby and Kathy Kriticos. However, one night, Jean was horribly burnt by a fire caused by a stray log from the fireplace alighting the Christmas tree, and later died in a hospital. Arthur was deeply heartbroken by this, and he and his family were forced to move into a cramped apartment, and hire Maggie Bess as a nanny for Bobby. He inherited a House after his uncle Cyrus "died" unaware of it being a trap.

Played By: John Kapelos
Alternate: David Naughton

Cyrus Kriticos: He is a ghost hunter who recreated Basileus's Machine (a house like machine "Designed by the devil, and powered by the dead") and gathered the ghosts of The Black Zodiac, all in an attempt to open and gain control over the Ocularis Infernum ("Eye of Hell") and become the most powerful man on Earth. He was not very popular due to having wasted the family fortune on his pursuit of power, but he was a consummate manipulator who makes use of anyone around him to achieve his ends, be they friend, family or lover.

Played By: Ed Harris
Alternate: Robert Davi

Dennis Rafkin: He is a powerful-yet-neurotic psychic who helped Cyrus Kriticos capture the first twelve ghosts in The Black Zodiac. He was ostracized by everyone because of his abilities. Cyrus Kriticos accepted him however, and offered to pay him to use his psychic abilities to help him capture the ghosts bound to the Earth. However, Cyrus ended up stringing Dennis along, never paying him the money he owed him. Despite his mercenary behavior, Dennis does care for others, willing to go and warn Arthur to leave the house, as well as sacrifice himself to save others.

Played By: Christopher Malcolm
Alternate: Tom Hanks
Maggie Bess: She is the nanny hired by Arthur for both Bobby and Kathy, getting along well with both of them. She makes sure that the children are safe when moving into the mansion, though she loses them as it starts moving its parts around forming a maze. She ends up joining with Arthur and Dennis to find them again, though not before setting Arthur straight about how his children need him now, as he was becoming obsessed with finding the ghost of his late wife.

Played By: Jackée Harry
Alternate: Telma Hopkins

Kalina Oretzia: She is Cyrus Kriticos' secret lover and servant. As a member of the "Spirit Containment Society" who opposed any and all attempts to bargain or capture ghosts and spirits, she funneled information to Cyrus while working on his behalf. She also pretended to be on Arthur's side when they met at the House, while making sure Cyrus' plan went as intended. She had a soft spot for kids, and was killed by Cyrus for balking at his orders to put Bobby and Kathy in jeopardy in order to manipulate Arthur.

Played By: Helen Slater
Alternate: Roxanne Hart

Ben Moss: He is the estate lawyer of Cyrus Kriticos. Well aware of what Cyrus was doing with the home, he tries to have Arthur sign the property papers so that it becomes his problem and he may take his payment that is hidden below it. However, when he does, he accidentally activates the mechanism that releases the ghosts and puts the house in motion, which has him be killed as he tries to escape the now freed specters, cut in half by one of the moving doors.

Played By: Paul Gleason
Alternate: John Amplas

Damon Quinteros: Kalina's Fiancé, and member of the "Spirit Containment Society". He and Kalina went to the Junkyard in order to stop Cyrus from capturing "The Juggernaut", but were captured by Cyrus instead, attempting to run during the chaos of the ghost attack, he was betrayed and killed by Kalina after she gained the information she needed about the Ocularis Infernum from him, though no one knows it.

Played By: Griffin Dunne
Alternate:
Kathy Kriticos: She is the oldest child of Arthur Kriticos. A teen who is usually mocked at school because of her father's turn towards spiritual research. She has a bit of an attitude because of it, being the more combative and exasperated at the move.

Played By: Geena Davis

Bobby Kriticos: He is the youngest child of Arthur Kriticos. A kid that is quiet and does not speak much due to the death of his mother. Usually somber, he tends to spend his time drawing, opening up more to Maggie than to others.

Played By: David Faustino
The First-Born Son: Billy Michaels was a young boy who loved pretending to be a cowboy. One day, another little kid challenged Billy to a duel, but Billy's cap gun was no match for the boy's real steel-tipped arrow that Billy's ghost still carries. Unlike most of the ghosts, this one is a mild threat, never attacking anyone and just saying "I want to play."

The Torso: Jimmy 'The Gambler' Gambino was a gambler in the early 1900s, who caught the attention of the Mafia. After he lost a boxing bet and didn't have the money to pay up, the Mafia cut him into pieces and wrapped him in cellophane, dumping the remains in the ocean. His ghost appears as a torso with a severed head nearby, and is more a neutral spirit than actively hostile.

The Bound Woman: Susan LeGrow was the richest girl in town and was very popular in school. Her one flaw was the way she flirted and toyed with boys and men, leaving a long trail of broken hearts. During her senior prom night, Chet Walters, a star quarterback, caught Susan cheating on him with another boy. The next day, the boy was found beaten to death and Susan had gone missing. Susan was found dead two weeks later buried beneath the fifty-yard line of the high school's football field. Her ghost lures Bobby into the dangerous basement and still shows in her prom attire, bound ropes holding her arms.

The Withered Lover: Jean Kriticos was a happy and devoted wife and mother. She died as a result of fire injuries at St Luke's Hospital half a year before the events of the film begin. Unlike most of the ghosts, she is not dangerous; she is benevolent.

The Torn Prince: Royce Clayton was a gifted and famous teenage baseball player in the 1950s who caught the eye of colleges around the USA. He died in a drag race, thanks to his challenger, a greaser who cut his brake lines. His remains are still buried in a plot overlooking a baseball diamond, and his ghost carries his baseball bat.

The Angry Princess: Dana Newman was a beautiful but abused lady who lived in the late 20th century. She had plastic surgeries to alter her perceived flaws, and after a botched experiment that mutilated her eye, she brutally killed herself in a bathtub at the clinic. Her ghost is bloody, naked, and carries the same knife she used to commit suicide.

The Pilgrimess: Isabella Smith came to North America as a colonist in order to find a new life after being an orphan in England. The tight-knit community ostracized and ignored her and used her as a scapegoat, being accused of witchcraft when crops and animals mysteriously died. She denied such accusations, but she was trapped in a burning barn but managed to escape unharmed. That sealed her fate, and she died of starvation after being condemned to the pillory that she carries with her as a ghost; her skin is badly damaged.

The Great Child: Harold Shelburne was a mentally disabled man who never outgrew diapers and had to be spoon fed even as a fully grown adult; he often made baby sounds. After being mocked, teased and tormented relentlessly all his life, he caused a massacre at the old freak show where he and his mother, Margaret Shelburne, lived. Some of the freaks had kidnapped his mother as a joke one night, accidentally killing her in the process. The circus owner, Jimbo, had Harold mutilated beyond recognition. His ghost appears as Harold did in life, with a small patch of hair, a bib covered in vomit, and cloth diapers; he still holds the ax that he used to kill his enemies.

The Dire Mother: Margaret Shelburne, Harold's mother, was a shy little lady, standing three feet tall. She never could stand up for herself. At the freak show where she lived, she was raped by the Tall Man, another circus freak, and gave birth to her illegitimate son Harold, whom she loved more than life itself. She smothered and spoiled him from infancy and never stopped as he grew; this is the main reason for Harold's mental handicap. The two were abused to the point where Harold killed almost the entire circus after Margaret accidentally died during a prank orchestrated by the other circus freaks. As ghosts, they remain together, with Harold being protective. Like the Torso, she is not aggressive, and is more of a neutral spirit.

The Hammer: A happy and honest family man and blacksmith in the early 1890s, George Markeley was falsely accused of stealing by a higher up named Nathan, and threatened with exile from their old Western town. Knowing he was innocent, George stood up to Nathan and refused to leave. One day, when George's family was walking home from the market, Nathan and his gang of thugs attacked and killed them brutally. Enraged, George took his blacksmith's hammer, tracked down Nathan and his friends, and beat them to death but the townsfolk chained him to a tree outside his blacksmith shop and drove railroad spikes into his body. His left hand was cut off and his hammer was crudely attached to it. His ghost is one of the more angry spirits.

The Jackal: Born to a prostitute in 1887, Ryan Khun developed a sick appetite for women, attacking and raping prostitutes in the night. Seeking to be cured of his insatiable appetite, Ryan voluntarily committed himself to Borehamwood Asylum for treatment. But after years of solitary confinement, Ryan went completely insane, scratching on the walls so violently his fingernails were torn completely off. In response, the doctors kept him permanently bound in a straitjacket, tying it tighter whenever he acted out, contorting his limbs. After gnawing through his straitjacket to get free, the doctors locked his head in a cage and sealed him away in a cell in the basement. while there, he developed a hatred of humanity, screaming madly and cowering whenever approached by people. When the asylum burst into flames, he chose to stay behind and perish in the fire while everyone else escaped. His ghost carries his torn straitjacket with the torn cubic head cage; it is called a sign of Hell's Winter. He is one of the most aggressive and violent ghosts.

The Juggernaut: Horace 'Breaker' Mahoney was born very disfigured and was an outcast his entire life. His mother abandoned him at a tender age, and his dad put him to work in the junkyard, using his unusual strength to crush cars. After his dad died, Horace went insane: he would take motorists and hitchhikers, tear them apart with his bare hands and feed the remains to his dogs. After several of these murders, he was arrested. A SWAT team shot and killed him when he broke free of his hand cuffs. As a ghost, he remained at the junkyard with his body riddled with bullet holes, killing intruders. Both Dennis and Cyrus remark that his kill count numbered in the 40s, making his ghost one of the most evil and dangerous of the twelve.

A.N.: Hopefully, we can begin doing this film before 85'. Hopefully the changes added can be more than enough to make the audience take the entire thing more seriously. Because, as much as I love this movie, even I can't get over how Kalina and Daimon's excuse of freeing the ghosts because "Slavery" fits with their freaking character. These ghosts could and have killed people! It would have been better if they were more against Cyrus because of what may happen to humanity rather than what happens to ghosts.

[X] Plan Star Wars Christmas Turn
-[X]Star Wars Preproduction Extravaganza: George came to you with a big old binder with Dave and Lawrence. "I need your help, Bruce." He said. And that was a big binder. "Oh that, that's just part one.". Then you saw the slave outfit. "GEORGE I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!" DC: 0 (Begins a Preproduction Miniturn)
-[X]Tron: You honestly don't want this film to flop, but you planned for it, and by god, you have to hope that it won't die to Napoleon. DC: 50.
-[X]The Mike Eisner Action Plan of 1981: Mike called a war council again, though this time, he practically put his foot down. "Bruce, I have a plan, and it's a goddamn good one. So hear me out." DC: 0
-[X]The Christmas Party of 1981: So it seems that everyone, finally, remembered that the Christmas party is supposed to be fun. And look what you know, it is. However, there is one problem. Some people from reputable ad agencies were trying to stalk them, and that would not do. "George, get the Cameras!" DC: 30
-[X]The O'Brian Tradition: You are going to start a new tradition. Best make it a good one. DC:???
--[X] Build a Nativity set in your front yard.
--[X] Have a Christmas dinner with Sarah's family, and invite Gavin and Susan and your parents if you can.
-[X]All I want for Christmas: Mary is having her first real Christmas, and you want to give her something that she will enjoy.
--[X] Mary keeps non-subtly hinting that she wants books, so get her a personal library. Get her a bookcase for her filled with books, both non-fiction books in her favorite subjects and fiction books of her favorite series and stories, try to get as many as Mary hasn't read along with her favorites.
-[X]The Sound of fighting: You smile and realize one thing that was rather… uncomfortable. Ginger the cat is fighting one of the neighbors cats again that keeps sneaking into your house. Time to assist her. DC:???
-[X]Best Friends: So Mary has lots of friends, and she wants them to come over. You need to prepare for that. Carrie, get the cookies.
--[X] Hold a Birthday party for Mary on December 30th where she can invite her friends and have fun. For her birthday, gift her a tricycle.
-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids!
--[X] You've been focusing on Mary a lot lately and don't want Sarah and Joseph to feel left out. Spend some time with the twins and just have some nice Christmas fun.
-[X]Hanging out with the Friends: It's been far to long since you, John, and Robin hung out, so you will go out for some drinks and have some fun. DC: 45
-[X]A Charitable Heart: You want to invest your newfound wealth. Maybe even save some lives while you are at it. (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to donate in)
--[X] $200 million, split the money to donate $100 million each to FEAST and the O'Reilly Foundation to make sure many families have a Merry Christmas.
-[X]Pray: It had been a long time since you went to Mass. You wish for the Lord to give you strength. DC: ???
--[X] Attend Christmas mass and give thanks for a good year and your family being healthy and safe.

Okay so we deal with the Star Wars stuff and I guess most importantly for Bruce, Slave Leia. Honestly, just let Carrie decide as it's her right and I think she can swing either way. Also do the Christmas party and Mike Eisner action plan. Hopefully Tron is a success here.

For O'Brian Christmas tradition, I figured build a nativity set. Something my family does and just a nice little Christmas thing that fits with Bruce's devout character. Also, do a family meal with our extended family, no reason to not celebrate with the cousins and hopefully catch up with Gavin and the parents.

Magoose said that Mary wants lots of books so we get her, her own personal book case where she can read to her heart's content with lots of new books. Help Ginger deal with the cat. Mary's birthday is on the 29th, so it makes sense to hold a party on the 30th and in case she doesn't like the books, get her a tricycle as she's around that age to start riding a bike. For family time, almost all the fluff is focused on Mary so I just want Bruce to spend some time with the twins and see how they're developing. Also hang out with friends if we can.

Do some charity, spread around the Christmas cheer. And give thanks in Church and hopefully there will be good things to come or we'll be shielded from bad stuff.

[X] Plan Star Wars Christmas Turn

This is essentially, one for one, the plan I had put together, just with actual ideas for the Christmas actions, so I'm all for it.
