Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

The Napoleon of Crime: The Life and Times of Adam Worth
The Napoleon of Crime:
The Life and Times of Adam Worth

Genre: Crime/Historical Drama
Medium: TV Miniseries

Producer: Felix Graves
Writer: Felix Graves

Summary: A one season show, Napoleon of Crime follows the life of Adam Worth, the criminal mastermind who inspired Sherlock Holmes's nemesis Moriarty. But with a bit of a twist. The show is told from the perspective of an Adam who has grown old and grey and who recounts his story to William Pinkerton; the greatest American detective of the era and, without exaggeration, the Sherlock Holmes to Worth's Moriarty.

Adam Worth: The infamous criminal mastermind who robbed his way through Europe, he was the Napoleon of Crime in both brilliance and stature. Genteel, surprisingly pacifistic, bold, ans strict with his moral code, Worth skyrocketed into infamy when he stole the portrait of the Duchess of Devonshire.

William Pinkerton: The son of the famous Allan Pinkerton and a detective of the Pinkerton Agency, he is widely feared by criminals across the world for his dogged determination to get his man. Pinkerton, however, feels more at home with these scoundrels and rapscallions than he ever did with "respectable" society.

Kitty Flynn: An Irish barmaid with ambitions for a more glamorous and expensive life, she stole the master thief's heart with her unparalleled beauty, forceful personality, and ambitious mind. Eventually, though, the never-satisfied Kitty grew a mind of her own and left Worth for America.

Author's Notes:

This is based off of Ben Macintyre's great book on Adam Worth, which is the same title as the pitch. Adam Worth truly was the real-life Moriarty, and his life is a fascinating thing to read. I highly recommend the book to anyone who has an interest in history–heck, anyone in general! Macintyre's writing style is a blast and equal parts hystreical and insightful, and he does more justice to Worth's story than I ever could.

The most fascinating thing, by far, is the friendship between Worth and Pinkerton, two polar opposites and adversaries for so long. If this were made into a show today, I would bet money that they'd become a popular enemies-to-lovers ship.

Frankly, I'm not sure if we should try to make this film using puppetry with the Henson company, or if we should try and use our advanced CGI technology to try and make the turtles more like the 2010's films. I mean, they were not that bad right? And it would allow for more fluid fight scenes. But then again, I keep remembering the 90s movies and how they managed to make such amazing costumes and stories, to the point I'm conflicted about it.
Porque no los dos? We can do the costumes and touch them up with CGI.

Wooo! Just got here.

Who's up for to counter sue Sony and remind the world YET AGAIN that you DO NOT FUCK WITH THE GOOSE.

Honestly at this point when south park comes out Mickey won't be the only one nobody fucks with.

Also am legit curious how south park would depict Bruce O'Brian. Like would he be like the ultimate manly man which makes every other guy in south park feel inadequate while the women are all super jealous of his wife?

Would the kids see Mary O'Brian and start fighting over her while she makes Wendy feel inferior by sheer accident with her brains?

Honestly I am legit curious how south park would show the O'Brian family and Star wars in general in this verse

Bruce: I am the bodyguard to the lord, I just act and do fun stuff in my spare time.
Oh another funny idea would be that Bruce was basically genetically engineered to be the ultimate man.

Complete with a secret genetics lab under the Whale that the kids stumble onto....

Dumb idea but Cartman gets infused with O'Brian power and becomes buff and charismatic AF for a bit before he picks a fight with Bruce, gets his butt kicked, and his newfound power drained.

Cartman: "YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME! I HAVE A BUFF BOD, I KNOW THE RIGHT THINGS TO SAY-"
Bruce: "But you cannot handle this power and you have used it poorly! I REVOKE THEE!"
Cartman: NOOOOOOO!

Also alternative thing for the Jesus vs Satan boxing match.... Jesus calls up Bruce O'Brian to fight in his place as the champion of the Lord... And Satan immediately tries to back off when he sees he's up against Bruce before getting his butt kicked.

It's South Park. Realistically, they probably wouldn't be this generous to Bruce without some additional satirization and knocking him down a few pegs to balance it out.

truthfully, unless they were huge fans of Bruce, they probably would take the piss out of Bruce.
I keep on thinking on making Bruce appear, acting all holier than thou, being a huge asshole, perhaps being best friends with Cartman...until Kyle and Stan reveal that he was an impostor and the true Bruce O'Brian arrives...and he's a literal Goose who proceeds to beat the crap out of the fake Bruce O'Brian.

I freaking love this idea

Lawsuit Mini-turn

The Soundabout. Such a glorious concept. A simple idea but surprisingly tricky to actually create. It was an idea worth millions... no BILLIONS.

It should have been yours. It WILL be yours.

Damn George Lucas Damn Bruce O'Brian and Damn Lucas Films!

Parralel Design Your Ass! They Stole it and everyone knows it.

Information Gathering: It is a possibility however unlikely that Lucasfilms has an trick up there sleeve to stop you from getting control of your rightful property and restitutions. A few discreet payment shall ensure that there are no surprises in the courtroom. Reward Lucasfilm Collecting the facts roll revealed. DC:??? Payment Write in: $500,00 USD Roll:4
Those fucking gaijin took your money! The so called spies never reported in, the private investigators couldn't get past the front door and to top it all off your "man on the inside" turned out to be part of Lucasfilms security team.
Result: Failure. Funded Lucasfilm security's "Pizza and Donut Extravaganza".

Collecting the facts: To reclaim your rightful property you need every scrap of information about the Soundabout at your disposal to fight this.
Roll: 75.

As expected of your workers every bit of information you have about the Soundabout is gathered and prepared diligently.
Result: Everything you know about the Soundabout/Walkman is ready for trial.

Assemble the lawyers: To go against a large company such as Lucasfilm requires a large and well prepared legal team. Gather the best you have.
DC: variable Roll: 48.
Sony's legal team in ready to go and believe you have a winning case. You also hired a number of other lawyers outside of the company for good measure. You weren't able to get everyone you wanted. Some had prior commitments and some were unwilling to deal with Lucasfilms overinflated reputation. But you are confident it will be enough.

Results: A decent legal team assembled.

The only question now is are you willing to go the next step and commit to the lawsuit?
[]Yes
[]No

►Inhabitant
Not good on the security roll but the others not bad.

Still

Lucasfilm Soundabout ? Unthinkable. Also weird sounding.
Giving up without a fight?

Shamefur Dispray

So

FOR THE HONOUR OF SONY

Voting yes.
►FuddQueen

TO WAR!!!

But seriously can someone tell me how big a deal a walkman is? Besides the money of course.

►Inhabitant

The international Japanese image as the high tech futuristic foreign land was significantly helped by the widespread distribution of the sound about. Here was a piece of future tech you could hold In your hand and see it was real. the future was now and here it was. What else were you going to buy from those SONY guys?

That level of marketing cannot be understated. Like a potential plus 50 to marketing when we launch new product understated.
Also there's the huge pile of money to be made for owning the rights for the 80's IPOD

►Thanmarcue
Guys I can't shake the feeling that going to court over the walkman is a bad idea. What if Yaduck dice try to screw us again? Remember when we tried to buy out Lucasfilms originally?

►Yaduck
Hey my dice aren't that bad.

►Cyberjensen
Remember Death Eater quest?

►Yaduck
…Point taken.

►Tassadar
Yaduck has a point. His dice have mostly behaved themselves on this quest. And the flub when we tried to buy out LucasFilms last time wasn't that bad. Just getting chewed out with no mechanical downsides besides having take an action to buy United Artists the next turn. Besides It's a clear cut case of theft.

►Inhabitant
The basics of the case are solid. George and Marcia Lucas marriage is on schedule to be on the rocks so they are likely to be distracted. Not sure what Bruce's skills are but he's an actor not a tech savant.

So unless a film company with no tech development arm spent an ungodly amount of money on a legal department, and has solid evidence they invented it first?

The rewards for winning should be good.

►Vimes
Hey if we loose the Walkman we could always try to compensate by making the RAWMAN-3000-Portable-Vinyl-Players,vinyl records have been the norm for decade so people could be interested in it since they wouldn't need to buy any tape, just using their good old beloved vinyl record.

►Dietrich Knickerbocker.
I've heard worse ideas lol

After the vote
►Herzog Wilhelm von
Ok so I've been away for a while but as the original author of this quest I've got to ask. Who the hell is Bruce O'Brian and how did he steal the walkman design for LucasFilms?!

►Yaduck
Do you remember that bunch of OC's I was rolling for when I was helping with the quest? The ones who were just meant to appear as minor characters from time to time? While most of them have been doing okish (except that poor bastard in the soviet union) Bruce however has been rolling like crazy.

As for stealing the Walkman you'll learn the truth of that soon.

►Tassadar

Dammit Yaduck dice.

►Herzog Wilhelm von

Sigh…Indeed

►Cyberjensen
This is that OC Hogwarts Teacher all over again!

►Thanmarcue
I Fucking told you!

►Dietrich Knickerbocker.
So Vimes, tell me more about that Vinal player idea.

Ok just got done with the Negaverse chat. Let me know if you have a problem with your Negaverse selves.

Ngl, I'm kinda surprised we haven't made our own Publishing company in Japan to rival Shonen Jump or Shueisha.

It'd be great for Lucasfilms to have an independent foreign publishing company to rival their domestic companies akin to what Sony is doing to the US.

We don't really need to when we're doing manga through Marvel already, and novelizations can always be outsourced/counted in merch. Although, I suppose an explicit Japanese branch of Marvel wouldn't necessarily be out of the cards.

We're not doing Manga yet, but we could try and get some publications from some promising Mangakas if they want to. The American Market is huge and untapped for that kind of comics after all.

Now, if only we could get Toriyama-Sensei to work for us...

We are actually, I've already started with the Amerimanga through the Peni Parker pitch and I'm pretty sure at least one other person did a manga pitch. I agree though, it would be good to set something up to more explicitly take advantage and compete.

Yet it was definitely something that you could work with.

One scene, one measly scene, and you think you stole the goddamn show.

And frankly, you deserve to, because you had to leave immediately to get back to Carrie.

Reward: You did your scene, and did it perfectly, so you boiled on Francis and left for home.

He can deal with the bullshit of a desert shoot, you had your fill in Tunisia!

And that infuriated you.

It was a little touch-and-go, but it all worked out in the end. Turns out the Irish Government was flabbergasted when it came to your sudden investment into the studio, and became rather worried it was going to get, as was the fear from Britian…

Lucasized… focused on only the making of money, merchandising and… well not the art.

Dead Man actually changed their opinions, and the respect that you had for Ireland made it much more… receptive…

And there was also the fact that in the United Kingdom, you heard that the Queen was reportedly a fan of the move, hoping that her government would, do more for funding not only the British film industry but also to boost the quality of it.

But she is actually being faced down by a rival who ran the BBC…or something like that, you didn't pay attention to that.

Reward: Ardmore Studios is under the Lucasfilm banner. Shooting in Ireland is nowfree, and provides no roll maluses for production rolls.

D100 + 20 => 29

You still think that doing anything more in the Indiana Jones run was stupid, but you owed the old man a favor… The world needed more revolutionary filmmakers from the East.

(Continued in Accident)
---------------------------------------

-[X]Mary's First Day of School (Private): You are going to send Mary to a Private Preschool where she can be with other kids, but also so that she can be closer to home. Rolled:
D100 => 88

Mary was a brilliant little girl who honestly had moments where she frightened you with how intelligent she was.

See when you thought about sending her to public school, your mind immediately went to a sudden and frightening urge of her playing DnD all day with her classmates, leading an uprising to stop it, and making things… well far stranger than things have to be.

And there was also a fun little thing where, in your mind, she could probably graduate on the first week and just stay there for fun, which might not do well for her social life. Or the school's.

So you took matters into your own hands and sent her to a private institution that was reputable, safe, secluded, had it's own, heavily armed private security forces, and able to be a place where Mary would have peers of her own intellect.

But honestly, you didn't know what she was going to do, or be like in school, and you prayed for the best, but prepared for the worst.

That however changed when she came home from school and she smiled. "I made a friend! Susan is really good at making atomic models."

Sweet heavens it's perfect.

Reward: Mary is now going to a Private school for gifted children, and she is making friends with peers of her own intellect. Now hopefully the teachers will be accommodating to their needs.
-------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids! Rolled:
D100 => 18

Honestly, you think that just having dinner and Mary going to bed excited to go to school tomorrow was more than enough.

More than enough.

Reward: The family is happy.

-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)

Lucille, in one of her last acts as Head of CBS, as she said she would retire next year, actually took that show away, and knew what she saw…

Actually, she decided to freaking make her stand and make CBS an incredible juggernaut of Television and managed to bring everyone whom you wanted to have…

And with shows like that in the pipeline, Paramount slowly losing steam with the end of Star Trek, and ABC's struggles since the Disney Channel started.

You didn't blame her.

Failure: Lucille is pulling up a masterstroke, and keeping CBS on the up and up for the rest of the decade.
----------------------------------------------

--[X] Robert Butler. An Emmy award winning director who is the must have man for creating legendary series pilots, he's come up with a new police series called "Remington Steele", a show about a female private eye who creates a fictional male boss so people will take her agency more seriously, only to come into contact with a conman who assumes the fake identity and becomes the face of the agnecy. D100 => 95

But Robert Butler had been refused by most of the major networks. Sure it was a simple, dare you say strange request, but he was told off by everyone for the show being too wacky, and contrived… when it was a mystery.

A detective show…

So when he came into Lucasfilms looking to get a pilot, he got far more than what he bargained for.

Brandon Tartikoff loved the series, and after being foiled by Lucille Ball… he was looking to come back with a vengeance.

Reward: Remington Steele has begun production.
