Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Quick question, which omake or update(I forget which it was) had Tomino clashing with the Star Wars artist guy over the design for Cloud City and then arguing about stuff like making the ATATs and ATSTs too much like Mobile Suits and whatnot? I need to know to reference it for my omake.
That was an update back during the star wars preparation and production turns. It should be under empire production.

A Turn that Is Coming Turn 75 (March 1980)
A Turn that Is Coming Turn 75 (March 1980)

You look at the newspaper and took a breath. "So, are we doing anything exciting today?" You asked as Carrie snoozed, trying her best to sleep as Debbie had taken the kids out on a nice walk to give both of you a break.

"No." She said as she hugged you. "I'm just hoping for some nice quiet."

"That's not going to happen till the kids are in school." You said as you held her hand. "And with you liking everything so much."

"Oh don't be a tease." She whispered, understanding what you meant. "You know what I mean. Just a night alone."

"Well George is in town, maybe we can have the kids over there for a night, while we deal with whatever emergency Mike needs to have both of us down here." You said. "I'll leave the meeting early."

"You better, I want to just be with me, you, and whatever your cooking me for dinner." She whispered as she let go and turned away.

"Promise."
-----------------------

It was going to be a long meeting. Brandon Tartikoff was not happy. "I can't work with nothing George, Mike is giving me nothing, and I can't-"

"Hey, I gave you 20 million to get to work and I see were pilots that were unable to pass muster on any TV station!" Mike shot back.

Never mind, it was going to be a very long one. "Mike please tell me we have something for the TV people?" George asked.

"We don't. I need shows and a budget, and we don't have one."

"I can get you pilots and I can get you a show, I need more money to get that? I'm not asking for Star Wars or something!"

George and you both looked at each other. This was boiling over beneath the surface for a while. "Gentlemen, I swear to the Lord Almighty, that both will shut up and let us deal with it!" You raised your voice and it shut them both down.

"Okay, what are we doing here?"

Brandon sighed. "Serialized TV. That is what I wanted to do, Mike is chasing trends on Episodic Television, which is not the future of TV! It will for maybe a decade, but with long form episodic television, it can revolutionize the industry."

"And yet people don't want that. They want an escape from reality, not a gripping tale. Movies already do that." Mike shot back.

Oh boy. "Let me handle this george." You said.

I think one of the TV Shows should definitely be Andor, in order to capitalize on the Star Wars hype that's going to explode with Empire and to help keep people tied over for Return. It also takes place before New Hope, so we aren't messing with the movie events in any way.

I want us to try "Cupid" since it seems like it can be done, and perhaps "Director's Cut". The former is an episodic TV show that nonetheless has a long story format which could be called serialized, and the latter is more towards the episodic trend.

Then again, I might have ot check the list and see which TV show might suit us better.

qm sorry if this has already been answered but regarding the action "propose a law to pass in California "that has been discused would it be possible to propose several laws per action or to create/Improve a legal team which would turn it into a bonus action?
It's just that our actions are so valuable and focusing on films is so fun that I'm a little afraid that without that we are likely to never or almost never use this mechanism which looks very fun.
Likewise for charity, would it be possible to create a charity and investment management group to which at the start of each round we would entrust a sum of money and say for example: "that much dollar to rebuild Romania, that much to improve the native American economy, that much for the Cuban refugee crisis, that much to save this animal species, that much to research a cure for this disease, etc"?,without having to use an action for each one ?

Thanks for you time.
ps poor arnold i'm almost sorry for him, also the redactor of the tabloids where he got his informations may have to run away, fast
i would realy like an answer to this please, because if i make a plan it's gonna realydepand of said answer, sorry vto bother you qm

Unfortunatly, for the charity, that requres Bruce to spend an action. Same for the Law one. bruce has to spend an action to do that.

Because it would not be fair for other plans that had posted them, to get them automatically done per turn.

Plus I cannot be bothered to keep track of that every turn.

So obviously we're going to take(most if not all) these actions. As well as a couple of investment and lobbying actions for the California law and victims of communism monument, but what else are we thinking we're gonna do this turn?

----[X] Tomb of the Lost: The Memorial of Remembrance Honoring Victims of Soviet Atrocities [ $10 Million ]: A visionary project that aims to pay tribute to the victims of various Soviet atrocities while fostering a sense of historical awareness and remembrance. By honoring the memory of those affected by these tragic events, we not only reaffirm our commitment to anti-communist values but also extend our solidarity to other communities impacted by similar experiences. The memorial will serve as a powerful testament to the human toll of Soviet atrocities and promote a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving freedom, human rights, and dignity. The Memorial of Remembrance is a powerful testament to the victims of Soviet atrocities, while fostering historical consciousness and promoting universal values of freedom, human rights, and dignity. By embracing a sectional approach and actively involving affected communities in the memorial's design and development, we ensure that the diverse stories and experiences of victims are properly honored and remembered. This memorial will stand as a symbol of resilience, remembrance, and a commitment to preventing the recurrence of such atrocities in the future. | Sectional Approach: The Memorial of Remembrance will be thoughtfully divided into distinct sections, each dedicated to memorializing victims of specific Soviet atrocities. ---[X] California Lobbying:
----[X] The Fair Housing Equity Act [ $5,000,000 ]: While you'd always been faintly been aware of such practices in the abstract, it wasn't until you'd been approached by some many of the affected after the John Henry premiere that you realized the full scale of the problem and it just caused your Irish blood to burn. While there had been actions to solve the issue [most notably 1975's Home Mortgage Disclosure Act and 1977's Community Reinvestment Act], it was still highly prevalent in the private industry, bypassing the protections that had already been placed on the banks. In that manner, the Fair Housing Equity Act was a groundbreaking piece of legislation aimed at eradicating the harmful practice of redlining in the United States, seeking to make all forms of redlining illegal, ensuring that every individual, regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic background, had equal access to housing opportunities and fair treatment in the real estate market. By addressing the systemic discrimination embedded in housing policies, the Fair Housing Equity Act aiming to promote the fostering vibrant and equitable communities across the nation.

Due to how things have panned out, here's a small list of alternate investments I had prepped for this turn.
-[] Investing in the Future: You want to Spend some of that money you made into the company and make the whole thing better DC: ??? (Linetail what you want to invest in, and how much money you want to invest in it)
--[1] Lucasfilm Europe: Emerald Campus [ $75 Million ]: Lucasfilm plans to expand its presence into Europe, with the best place to start in your mind is in the home country, Ireland. The Lucasfilm Europe Campus is set to be established in Galway [which, given Dublin's current urban congestion, gives the company room for expansion], serving as an office space, for production and legal, and feature state-of-the-art facilities for film production, post-production, and visual effects. By leveraging Ireland's talent pool and utilizing the country's favorable tax environment [read: tax haven], Lucasfilm aims to acquire and distribute European films and television while contributing to Ireland's entertainment industry and economic growth. The campus will foster collaboration, host industry events, and provide opportunities for local talent, positioning Ireland as a thriving hub for creative industries...hey Mike, why is everyone already calling it Eurowood?
---[] Given the current state of affairs with Carrie and the twins, instead of traveling to these owners in Ireland, invite them and their representatives to negotiate these sales in LA on your dime; you also plan on having Mike and your dad there to help with negotiations.
--[2] Kodak [ $40 Million ]: Lucasfilm aims to disrupt the film industry by developing a compact high-quality camera in response to Fujifilm's entry into the US market with a cheaper product. With George's vision to capture any shot imaginable [made abundantly clear before, during and following the making of the Battle for Hoth], this smaller camera will drive innovation and push creative boundaries. Once established, Lucasfilm plans to tap into the consumer market by not only finally offering a personal digital camera, leveraging their brand reputation and potential for significant profit to get a return on their investment. In addition to photography, a number of other products, such as their photocopiers, ink jets, and chemical analyzers, would not only provide an additional source of income, but also reduced prices for Lucasfilm Unlimited offices for these same products.
---[] You're also heavily inclined to blacklist the paparazzi from purchasing your products, but calmer heads [read: Mike] have convinced you to instead upcharge their organizations.
--[3] Marvel Comics [ $20 Million ]: We propose the acquisition of Marvel Comics by Lucasfilm, driven by the vision of synergistic growth and creative expansion. By bringing together the extraordinary worlds of Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm, we will create unparalleled opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and storytelling excellence. This strategic move will allow us to leverage the iconic characters, vast comic book universe, and dedicated fan base of Marvel Comics, complementing our existing franchises and extending our reach across multiple mediums. Together, Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics will redefine the landscape of entertainment, captivating audiences globally with immersive narratives and unforgettable experiences that transcend traditional boundaries. Through this acquisition, we aim to unleash the full potential of both companies, shaping the future of popular culture and solidifying our position as industry leaders.

Budget on shows based on Walking Dead, which was $3.5 Million per episode. Using the inflation calculator (2010-1980), the number became $ 1.3 Million.

We create a branch of lucasfilm which like lucasart and its special effects would provide its services to all those who pay and serve in our films, we hire a bunch of veterans with a maximum of different skills and just like that we avoid all the gross errors that coming from the film crew not knowing what it's war, army, combat, etc like in real life or the extras not having a good idea of what they should do, which again with 80s films should be useful, and maybe it could be expanded to include other professions (imagine, realistic medical series), i choosed a number that sounded about right i have no idea if it'senough

do a distribution raid on Irish cinema, it has more or less been ignored by the world since you distributed "home is the hero" but it has plenty of gems and given your Irish origins, the curent irish economy and your previous success it should not be too difficult to convince Irish studios to let you distribute their films, your main targets include among others:
-Flight of the Doves 1971
-Odd Man Out 1947
-The Rocky Road to Dublin 1967
-Mise Éire 1959
-The Quiet Man 1952
-Darby O'Gill And The Little People 1959

----[X] The Fair Housing Equity Act [ $20,000,000 ]: While you'd always been faintly been aware of such practices in the abstract, it wasn't until you'd been approached by some many of the affected after the John Henry premiere that you realized the full scale of the problem and it just caused your Irish blood to burn.

----[X] The California Bill: Prohibition of Harassing Pursuit in a Moving Vehicle Act [ $20,000,000 ]: This seeks to establish a law that treats pursuing someone in a moving vehicle in a harassing manner, such as for taking photography, as a felony offense due to the endangerment it poses to the public. This bill draws parallels between this behavior and drunk driving, as it forces the targeted individual to drive recklessly and at high speeds to escape, putting everyone at risk. The proposed legislation includes clear definitions, severe penalties, and provisions for aggravating factors. It also emphasizes public awareness and education about the dangers of such pursuits and establishes reporting mechanisms. By passing this bill, California aims to deter this form of harassment, promote public safety, and hold offenders accountable.

How much would my No Reservations pitch cost? It'd require some effects work for the ghosts but it should be mitigated a bit by the fact that the show mostly takes place in a single building.

I'd really like my Mystery Men pitch being picked. It'd probably work better as a serialized show.

Honestly I would hold off from any Star Wars TV shows untill atleast we start our own TV-station. Because other wise we need to share our Star Wars mega profits with our competitor.
