Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

But the earlier parts of the quest definitely show how things could've been so much worse, though I do wish failures were a bit harsher now we've got a much larger safety net, overall the escalation of the quest and it's drama has purely been due to the dice and that has been handled really well so far.
I've tried to make failures a lot less bad and failure to be less serious actually.

Mostly for charecter purposes.

But if you want failure to be worse, I can do that. :V

I wonder if we can get a job as a stuntman on a Sentai show? No wait, we're still like three years off from the first one. But we could totally find work on Kamen Rider.

Right now I'm just focusing on one where Carrie reaches out to Bruce for help with the weed in explaining why this occcured as well as Bruce's response so Magoose can just focus on the aftermath. Any bonuses to the dates would be welcome.
Make sure to keep in mind that we haven't even had our first official date so her reaching out to us like this for something so serious is generally considered to be kind of weird and would certainly be awkward for her to do.

All I am going to say, is that... She's desperate for help. Plus she's heard stories that... Well we're a hero, professional, and while not trained in this, is someone who has a spotless... personal reputation.

And also she thinks her family isn't going to help her.

Video Games!
"Bruce..What is that?" Carrie asks in wonder as you were finishing setting up a new piece of machinery that you agreed to buy from some salesman from the company Magnavox.

"Some machinery called.." You look at the front part of the instructions manual to see the machinery's name. "Odyssey."

"Homer's story Odyssey?" She asks as she slowly walks in after closing the door, looking at the machine in awe and scepticism. "You know as well as I do that buying machines from wandering salesmen is quite sketchy."

"And that Carrie." You grinned at her as you looked back to the almost set up machinery after plugging it into the TV. "Is why I looked through it all! Don't want you to say 'I told you so' after our game a few days ago." You retorted as she snorted in amusement.

"Still not over that?" She smirks.

"Yeah yeah.." You scoff at the statement while waving your hand in a casual manner. "Would you like to join me in testing this thing?" You ask her as you screw back the cover of the Odyssey to the machine base. "Or you'd like to do homework?"

"Interested to see how it'll work out..besides any smoke coming out of it." She retorted as she placed her homework on the table with some distance from the screen.

"Won't explode..I think." You started out with full confidence before ending with an honest and blunt statement with half of the feelings you were imbuing into your speech.

"You think?" She raised an eyebrow.

"I think." You nodded back as silence permeated the area before the both of you bursted out in laughter.

"Anyway..here we go." You speak out as you pick up a card and place it into the slot of the console while walking up to the tv to turn it on. "Says we have to change it to a third channel.." You muttered to yourself as you turned the knob of the television until arriving at channel three, expecting for the frizzy screen of lights to appear.

"Wow.." Carrie breathes out in awe as you nodded with her, instead of the static noises that would've been heard from going to this specific channel, instead there are three glowing lights in the shape of squares, the one at the middle being smaller in size than the other two that are at the sides of it.

"That explains about these." You said out loud while taking out a green but slightly transparent overlay that was noted in the instruction manual. "It'll be easier on the eyes now thinkin' about it."

"Now I'm interested." She said softly while sitting beside you, looking at what seems to be two rectangles with knobs at the sides with the labels on the top saying 'Horizontal', 'Vertical', 'Reset', and 'English'.

"Told you there's no need to doubt my technical ingenuity!" You smirked at her while placing the tennis-based overlay on the screen..

Only to see the right glowing block to hit the smaller square that bounces from the left block, having the ball ricochet to the right side background.

"Hey!" You jumped and looked back to see an innocent-looking Carrie who was whistling while looking at the instruction manual for the console.

"What's wrong, Bruce?" She looks at you before she failed to subtly press the reset button to have what can only be assumed as the game's tennis ball return back to the middle, having you quickly go to the free controller to have the left block quickly hit the returning small square back at the right, which Carrie counters by hitting it back at your side..

(Rolling who wins the second round..

1: Bruce
2: Carrie

Rolled: 1)

"Ha!" You smiled with good fun as you managed to get another point..which you are scoring mentally as the game didn't have its own score system. "Finally won at something!"
"That's great!" Your opponent replied with her own smile that spoke of the fun she had playing with you on this new machinery. "I never expected something like this to be fun."

"Me neither." You said back to her with a look of wonder at the screen. "I think I should pick up one of those magazines based on technology, never know you have another thing like this to appear on your door."

"So, want to go for another round?" She asks you with a competitive smirk, her hands already at the controller knobs.

"Got nothing better to do than hanging out with you, so I'll say yes." You smile back at her with a genuine feeling, missing her slightly flustered state before they shifted back to their usual complexion.

N/A: And when I said "might forgot", I meant video games :D Carrie and Bruce is now introduced to Odyssey, A video game console with 12 games and cards (old way of saying cartridges) that was released two months before Pong.

We did not... they just aren't wide spread enough that without being a geek... which both our Viewpoints aren't it would be hard to see them.

But since it is highly possible for such a bit of tech to be in LA at the time... lets give a reward!

[]Gaming is Awesome (Hobby of video gaming can now autopass)
[]Carrie's having fun, so am I (+10 to Carrie Date Roll)
[]So wait... Your Brother Did what? (Your Brother has quit Hollywood and is now working for... A Company you've never heard of, with computers?)

These two choices are hard..

On one hand more date bonuses..the other being Bruce's brother joining a computer-based company..

@Magoose (Below)

[X]So wait... Your Brother Did what? (Your Brother has quit Hollywood and is now working for... A Company you've never heard of, with computers?)

While I'd like to add more date bonuses (I believe we have +20 currently)..I have a feeling I know what company this is, (especially one created in 1972).

Considering that the story about Bruce saving the lives of ten extras on the set of MASH during that fire probably came up during the lawsuit against CBS, I can see why Bruce would be seen as a real-life hero. Also we should use details of that incident when we negotiate with CBS for another season of MASH - safety issues on the set need to be addressed as much as pay and working conditions.

Magoose, has Bruce come out about that incident where he was just starting out in Hollywood and that director sexually harassed him? Or is that still secret?

Considering how well-regarded Bruce is by Vietnam veterans who are MASH fans, could he get drawn into the veterans rights lobby? Considering most of the plans are voting for him helping Carrie with her drug addiction and how rife drug addiction and abuse were among Vietnam veterans, I think that could lead to some very interesting ideas.

No.

Mostly because if he did, he would be immediately Blacklisted. There are somethings the Hollywood Elite are willing to stomach.

Not one of their own being outed as a sexual deviant and a possible pedophile.

We aren't that powerful yet.

Nor do we have enough evidence to really make a case.

You could. But not right now

that entirely depends on how Bruce sees the issues, and the omake you all could possibly make.

And if you remain on MASH, and do not do other projects.

Or rather if CBS dosen't try to force you out.
