Holy crap, Superman makes history as both the most expensive movie and the second movie to make a billion dollars. Superman was already an icon, but here he is transformed into a definitive hero of the modern world and perhaps becomes the symbol of hope that he always is shown to be in the comics, only to be shown to be as powerful in real life as well. Reminds me of the ending of All-Star Superman where it shows in the mini-universe how even without Superman, he always shows up to inspire hope and change with the comic being created. I think something similar will be shown here. Superman itself isn't going to change global history like Dracula and the Romanian Revolution, but the idea of him and his story is going to inspire a lot of people to spread hope and kindness, which will slowly but surely lead to the world being a better place. Hey, at least we definitely silenced those "Superman is Boring" people.
Domestic Box Office:635,164,740
International Gross: 385,465,772
DC Comics Comic Roll: 5,091,315,151
Yeah this is definitely going to change things for sure. If it wasn't for Napoleon then Superman would likely be an Oscar sweep alongside Dracula, Oscars are going to be a very interesting event for sure. Really hoping that Christopher can get an Oscar for Superman because not only does he deserve it, but a superhero lead getting Best Actor would do wonders in solidifying the genre.
A billion dollars in movie box office and 5 billion in comics sales, and with current prices meaning billions upon billions of comics, Alan Hirschfield has definitely proved himself with his gamble paying off and likely paying off all of his debt and still giving the company a massive cash boost. Columbia is definitely going to go hard on superheroes and likely every one of the A-listers will have their own 80s movie. Really hope Linda gets a Wonder Woman movie. Of Course Columbia also now has the assets, both liquid and physical with the Warner lot to make other big franchises and make blockbuster hits equal to anything Lucasfilms does. Seems like we got a new rival and the Entente has proven itself to be a trio of superpowers.
Really interested to see how this affects Napoleon's bottom line. Because with Superman making a billion dollars and being a family friendly superhero film, theaters are far more likely to display it over Napoleon unless Napoleon gives off the same effect that Star Wars did as a viewing experience that changes lives. Napoleon will likely make way more than 500 million, though the real question is if it's able to beat a billion, and more importantly beat Star Wars.
There's also how this is going to change comics. Superman is more dominant than ever before and from the knock on effects of Superman sales, people will want to read other DC comics which means the company is about to be in its golden age and be rolling in tens of billions in comics revenue. Such a huge popularity spike has got to hurt Marvel's line and their recent streak of good fortune may be reversed. Hopefully it will cause Marvel to be more receptive to being bought out by Lucasfilms because if a damn good Superman film can do that for DC Comics, then how about a Spider-Man film made by Lucasfilms? I can't see why they wouldn't try to rush for the deal after Batman comes out and they know that Bruce can do the same for their film. Hope we can do it soon.
"I saw a first cut, it's really charming and perfect. It's a wonderful fairy tale." You said. "And also she chose it when I put out the poster and let her choose."
It still amazes you that Mary saw two bright colorful posters, one with her daddy and mommy on it, and one with a complete stranger, and chose the Superman one.
You honestly were a bit upset that she didn't choose Star Wars… but she would soon be part of the family trade, and see it.
Maybe she would like it.
Huh, seems like Mary still has her weird hangup of seeing Lying Things and her mom and dad stuck in Kermit Boxes, lol. Hopefully she has just as much of a good time seeing Star Wars as she did with Superman, would be super sweet if she shares her first time watching with Wallie.
So does this mean that the Director's Cut of Star Wars is going to be released next year Magoose? Well at least if Napoleon beats out Star Wars' box office we can reclaim our top spot with the Director's Cut.
Every one of those blasted photographers was trying to sneak a shot at your daughter, but you instead walked forward and blocked their view, and Debbie did the same on the other side, with many of the reporters getting the message, as you met Chris, who was standing by Robin who was wearing an Adam West Batman costume.
SMH, ashamed that Robin chose to dress as Batman and not Robin, the joke's right there! lol.
Everything happened quickly, but one thing you noticed, was in Carrie's lap, Mary was in awe, as if she was latched onto everything.
In the end, she was tired, but she looked at Christopher and said. "Superman."
And it melted his heart before he pinched her cheeks as she fell asleep.
AWWW!!! So sweet and wholesome. Well I guess we know both who Mary's favorite superhero is and what her favorite movie is. Would be really cool if Superman is what inspires her to go into following her parents footsteps.
Kathleen Called later that night.
Said that she had an idea.
AN: I couldn't resist.
DC Universe here we go! If the public loves Superman from this, then the post credits of Batman is really going to make them go insane.
See you guys, DC would have been an awesome investment!!!
We should have at least tried to bid for it... But No... Everybody was obsessed with Marvel and we lost our chance...
Sorry for resisting your idea Fanhunter. Although, with Columbia's insane roll it's unlikely that we would have gotten it anyway. For most of the Quest, I like to think that the story stuff happens along certain paths for a reason and I think it's the same with Columbia. Perhaps we might have been able to do similar awesomeness with Lucasfilms DC, but it's clearly doing its best here and Superman has become the film you dreamed of and for the near future at least it'll do wonders.
Honestly I don't mind at all if other companies have massive wins like this, War of the Worlds or Napoleon. Because while we don't share in those Ws and profits in the short term, for this timeline's audience, everyone wins and the world is a little more colorful because of it.
I've already made my arguments about why I think your position is incorrect, so I'm not going to rehash it. Regardless, I'm mostly just memeing at this point. I know everyone is too obsessed over Marvel for me to win that fight.
Once we buy Marvel I wouldn't mind buying Charlton. One interesting side effect would be Blue Bettle, or at least Ted Kord's version becoming the Batman of Marvel.
