Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Didn't know a decent enough reward for the show to give so instead gave sp, which is my go to reward when not having the enrgy to come up with rewards
Ok, thanks for the info. I tend to be overly self-critical when it comes to my writing and was concerned that there was something wrong with my pitch.

[X] The Oners!: you are going to get as much of the film done in one take as possible. It is considered a highly difficult shooting process. But the results are breathtaking once done.

Return of the Irishman
Return of the Irishman

Kicking back in his recliner with a bottle of beer and some popcorn at his side while the Knicks trounced the Lakers on his television, Joseph O'Brian took the time to simply lie back, relax, and enjoy one of what seemed to be many repeating days of leisure after over thirty years of busting his ass off in the Army and home front. Life was good for Joseph, the Irishman having achieved the American dream that many of his kin worked their entire lives for, all thanks to his son Bruce.

Before Bruce became a huge star, the O'Brians after years of blood, sweat and tears had achieved a reasonable rate of respectability. While they were far from the upper crust of New York, they were good middle class Americans as decently successful entreprenuers, although they could never take breaks besides federal holidays to stay middle class. Then one day his genius son makes the most insane gamble of graduating at high school at 14 and instead of getting a free Ivy league ride, he went to Hollywood and tried his shot at acting. Joseph had been so scared for Bruce, fearful he would go through the same pain and heartbreak as he did, only allowing him to go due to Clint's promise of support and his desire to be a fair father after allowing Gavin and Cat the same chance. Five years later, Bruce was a household name and star of one of the greatest shows on TV, along with being co-owner of a studio and living in Beverly Hills with an equally famous and talented wife.

From the first episodes of MASH, Bruce's success would lead to success for his parents with the neighborhood starting to make more frequent visits to the Jumping Whale to celebrate Bruce's performance on MASH and sticking it to Hollywood corporate. Then came the first fans from the other Boroughs, then from outside the city, and then from outside the state, and after American Graffiti the Whale started getting international visitors with half of New York's foreign tourists seemingly making a pilgrimage to the Whale to see where Bruce supposedly grew up and worked part time. Now with the rennovations complete and full ownership of the building, all at Bruce's expense, Joseph had been able to transform the Jumping Whale into a truly premier establishment that was rated by critics as being equal to the city's best and oldest. It was always packed, and whenever Bruce popped up on the news or had an appearence on-screen, lines would form that would stretch a couple of blocks.

All in all, business was booming and with it meant good times for the O'Brians. Joseph now had a bank account with more money than he had ever seen in his life, he was treated as an oustanding member of the community and one of Hell's Kitchen's leaders, and with it came new opportunities such as restoring Coney Island. But perhaps what was most important, with the money that they now had Joseph could greatly expand his staff and finally hand off daily management of the restaraunt to a couple of trusted managers. Along with an influx of experienced and high quality local chefs, both Joseph and Sarah could easily take most of the week off and run the restaraunt in a hands-off approach. They never abandoned the Whale completely and would usually run it half a week, but now with so much freedom they could finally relax and enjoy life instead of surviving by the day. Joseph had both the time and the money to treat Sarah as the Queen she was and deserved to be treated, most days being new adventures that they had not experienced since their exile to Ireland.

While it was a good time to be an O'Brian, what was more important to Joseph was that Bruce was successful and happy in life. He would gladly trade his newfound wealth and locale fame if it meant Bruce was doing good, and while his son seemed to be unfairly persecuted by the fat cats of Hollywood, he gave them a good ol Emerald Splash in each fight and came out on top, making great works of art and still being a great friend and husband. Not only was Bruce doing well, but thankfully his elder siblings seemed to be landing on their feet with Gavin finding his calling with computers and Cat being a bestselling fantasy author. Joseph O'Brian was far from perfect, and he would be the first to admit he screwed up more times than he could count, but at the end of the day he along with his wonderful wife Sarah managed to raise three outstanding kids and that was all that counted.

Speak of the devil, the phone rang as the game was winding down with Joseph having a sneaking suspicion based off the hour that it was either Bruce or his daughter-in-law.

"O'Brian residence, Joseph speaking."

"Hey Dad, how's it going?" Bruce greeted.

"Pretty good. Your mom's out getting some groceries and I'm watching the Knicks slaughter the Lakers."

"Thanks for the heads up, now I got ammunition for Todd next time I see him." Bruce joked with Joseph laughing.

"Hey Bruce, if you don't mind me asking, what's your next movie or show gonna be besides that Star Wars thing? Everyone's been hounding me and your mom for details after the documentary." Joseph asked.

It was one thing for Bruce to be a very talented actor in Hollywood, but for Bruce to also be an extremely talented Director and Olympian boxer who could literally go toe to toe with heavyweights simply astounded Joseph with near disbelief everytime he was reminded of how rennaisance his youngest was. There had previously been tales of O'Brians achieving greatness and having extreme bouts of luck, but it seemed that for 100 years it was very muted and then suddenly dumped into Bruce in one great syringe of Irish fortune.

"Oh, well for the first half of the year I'm gonna focus on the Olympics, probably won't do more than a couple of tv appearences. But...Carrie and I are in the process of getting a movie production up and running, one of her scripts actually." Bruce informed, with a surprising tone of nervousness and hesitation that was very rare for his son.

Before Bruce could explain further, Joseph heard the sound of a click and entry into the conversation. "Hi Dad!" Carrie greeted cheerfully.

"Hi Carrie, how's my favorite daughter-in-law?" Joseph asked sweetly, with Carrie giggling at the title that she was the only one eligible for.

Every day Joseph thanked the Lord for not only blessing his children with great careers but with amazing spouses as well. William treated his little girl with all the love and respect that Joseph had with Sarah, sticking by her and their daughter through hell and back and even willing to immigrate to Ireland to support Cat without having a single drop of Irish blood. While Susan and Gavin weren't close to tying the not, Joseph had a strong feeling that they would reach the aisle some day with all the telltale signs of a deep love there at Bruce and Carrie's wedding while Gavin had admitted in private that Susan had played a major part in making his days brighter during a rough time.

Then there was Carrie, a young woman who shined radiantly like a princess from a fairy tale and seemed to compliment Bruce in just about every perfect way possible. Bruce went to Hollywood with dreams of being a star, and he just so happened to marry the most talented actress in cinematic history. Even leaving aside their careers, Joseph would be forever thankful to Carrie for helping Bruce during his worst hours in Hollywood and making his youngest so happy. Just looking at the love Bruce held for Carrie was like staring at a mirror of a young him and Sarah.

"Good, Bruce and I are working on producing one of my scripts. Five Dates." Carrie informed. Having usually kept to calling her in-laws on a near daily basis, both Joseph and Sarah were usually in the loop on the two's business and creative lives with Carrie always happy to share details on her scripts, thus Joseph did not need any context for what she was talking about.

"The romance movie about Walter and Jasmine?"

"Yeah." Carrie said wistfully.

"Well that's good to hear, Hollywood just hasn't made good romance in years, most of the crap they put nowadays is just bad or depressing, nice to know that the girl who revived the musical is going to give romance the same shot." Joseph praised.

"And Carrie wonders where I get my skills in flattery from." Bruce quipped, producing a laugh from the trio.

"So you and Bruce going to star in it?"

"That's the plan." Carrie said with excitement.

"It's going to be nice having both a starring role and Carrie as my first love interest." Bruce said.

"I thought you two were love interests in Star Wars?" Joseph asked in confusion. Indeed some parts of the trailer had fun with a potential Han and Leia romance with the end being a joke about Han asking if he and Leia could be a couple to which Luke responded with a strong no, one that had Joseph and Sarah along with the whole theater laughing their asses off at the meta humor.

"Well we kind of are, but it's a bit of a love triangle with Luke thrown into the mix, could go either way."

"Oh it's going to be Han and Leia." Carrie said firmly. Being full aware of the legendary O'Brian temper and spirit that belonged to the fairer half of the family which brides like Carrie tended to adopt easily, Joseph had a feeling that George Lucas would pair the two whether he wanted to or not.

"So anyways, back in regards to Five Nights, right now we're doing casting and since it's a low budget and simple film we're mostly trying to focus on friends and family just to have a fun time. Mom's gonna be cast in it."

"Sarah?" Joseph asked in confusion.

"Ah no, Debbie. Actually she is going to play my Mom funnily enough." Bruce said, bringing a smile to Joseph. Over the past three years, Joseph and Sarah had become close friends with their in-law with Sarah regarding Debbie as a sister of sorts. Joseph couldn't have asked for a better mother-in-law to watch over Bruce and keep him set on the right path in the land of vipers.

"That's good to hear, Hollywood is shooting itself in the foot by denying their Queen a chance to return to their throne. Is she gonna play a protective Mama Bear who thinks Carrie isn't good enough for her boy?" Joseph asked in amusement.

Both Bruce and Carrie laughed at the irony, "No, she's going to kind of be like Mom, constantly pairing us and nagging me to put a ring on her after she first meets Carrie. Speaking of Dad...uh, uhm, well we were thinking..."

"Yes?" Joseph asked, caught off guard by the indecisive tone that was usually completely foreign to Bruce.

"Well, we were just wondering if you could maybe, I don't know-"

"We were hoping that we could cast you as my father in the movie." Carrie requested in a chipper tone.

At the offer, Joseph's grip on the phone shook as his breath was stolen in shock, heartbeat climbing in fear of old wounds opening, "Hahaha, that's a pretty funny joke Carrie." Joseph said, hoping desperately that she was just kidding.

"We're not joking Dad. We want you to cast you in Five Date's as Jasmine Tate's father." Bruce stated sincerely. Joseph knew his son could be a bit mischievous at times, but one thing that Bruce never joked or made fun of after being drilled into when he was young was Joseph's former acting career, and Carrie was too sweet to be pulling a prank on her own.

For a couple of seconds Joseph was no longer at his home in New York, but in Los Angeles in the 50's, painfully reliving the journey of broken dreams and heartache of the twilight of his youth. Of the hundreds of auditions and rejections, of the disapproval of his presence from those on set who looked down upon him as an intruder, of the bigoted jackass executives who thought he was a filthy leprechaun in a town and industry only for pure white Americans, of the shame in returning each day to his wife and kids as a failure while Sarah busted her ass off working and being a mother so he could pursue his dream.

It was funny in a dark comedic sort of way. He had served in Korea, seen some of the most bitter fighting in 1950, got shot and lost friends; but rarely did the pain of the war ever really haunt Joseph. Korea was like an old friend who gave you some of the best and worst memories but one whose bond you could never be without. Hollywood was like a broken heart and lost love, one which had been so passionate and dream-like in the beginning only to turn into a bitter nightmare where every day that Joseph was committed was self-inflicted torture. He could share war stories of Korea any day, but Hollywood tales were a chapter of his history Joseph wished he could erase, only for the wound to reopen thanks to his kids.

And just when he thought he could finally close that chapter of his life for good, Bruce and Carrie bring him back.

"Dad...Dad are you still there?" Bruce asked in concern, yanking him back to the present.

"Yeah, I'm still here, one of the neighbors just popped by and asked for something." Joseph lied, something that might fly by Carrie but Bruce could probably tell was a fib. "So....you want me to star in the movie?" Joseph asked nervously, wanting to smash the telephone and run away from a conversation with his own two kids, self-discipline just barely winning out.

"Yeah...you're going to be Jasmine's Dad as well as the father of her brother whose played by Mark Hamill, the guy who played Luke. You're meant to play the role of a retired musician whose trying to help Jasmine with her career and at first is really cautious and untrusting to Walter but opens up to him and helps Walter through his troubles with Jasmine." Bruce explained.

"Bruce, I can't leave your mother and the bar for months on end just to be in a movie." Joseph protested, trying to find any and all excuses to get out of this venture.

"We'd be willing to pay you a hundred thousand dollars and it's not going to be too time consuming. It's all going to be shot in LA and is just focused on character relationships and dynamics. We're looking to get it done in a month, probably by early March." Bruce said.

Joseph's jaw slacked open at the great price tag, both bewildered by how Bruce was so wealthy he treated six figures so casually and that the pair considered him worth so much when Joseph didn't think he was worth a hundred dollars.

"Bruce, I'm rusty at acting at Coney Island. I am NOT worth a hundred thousand. You should spend that money with some established actor like Clint, not someone whose only experience with movies in the past 15 years was going to the theaters."

"It's not like you're going to be starring in The Godfather. It's a simple story and all you have to do is play off of Carrie's brilliance, and the way she's written your character it's like it was tailor made for you. You've got an Oscar worthy script, and Clint always tells me that you had the potential to be an A-lister if the 50's didn't have Hollywood run by assholes that make the current leadership look like saints." Bruce protested.

While Joseph wanted to say that Clint was being nice and talking out of his ass, he knew that the old cowboy was always a very honest, no nonsense man and told you like how it was, but what Clint saw in him Joseph couldn't possibly fathom.

"That was back then, and I never did anything higher than Cowboy number three or Irish drunk. I don't want to ruin yours and Carrie's movie together!" Joseph said strongly.

After saying silent for the past minute, Carrie re-entered the conversation, "Dad, I'm sorry if I opened old wounds." Carrie said sorrowfully.

"Don't worry about that Carrie, I know you two only mean well." Joseph said sincerely. While he wished more than anything that he wasn't having this conversation, he knew above all else that Bruce and Carrie were trying to push him into it out of love.

"I can't say I know exactly how you feel or what you went through, but for the past decade I saw Mom get betrayed by the town she loved and left behind in New Hollywood because they thought she was a relic in a new world and that all she was good for was singing and looking pretty. Then the shooting happened, and now everyone's convinced she has nothing of offer and just kicked her to the curb like she was nothing, all while they praised me as the next great starlet." Carrie said in a tone of frustration and sadness.

"They're idiots and they're damn wrong Carrie." Joseph said firmly

"I know, and that's part of why I have her in the movie, and why I'm going to give her the greatest comeback ever with Killer Queen. However for all the shit they give Mom, she at least had her time in the spotlight while you never got close to the stage. Sarah always told me how happy you were after a day on set, how you had so much talent and greatness to share with the world and how Bruce is so great when performing because he acts just like you." Carrie said.

Joseph was left speechless at the comparison, as part of what helped him to nearly bury the past away for good was seeing Bruce and knowing that he could never come close to such talent, but Sarah believed he and his son were one and the same?

"All that aside, I just really hope you say yes because I wrote the part specifically for you." Carrie stated, stunning Joseph.

"Why me?"

"Because I don't trust anyone else to play my father, especially in the story I wrote as the testament of my love with Bruce. I figured the only one who should is the one man who treated me like his daughter and welcomed me into his home when I was just his son's California girlfriend who he didn't owe anything to." Carrie said with a slight shake in her voice.

It didn't take much to understand the subtext in Carrie's explanation, Debbie having explained the Reynolds family history shortly after they met. If it was just Bruce requesting then Joseph could easily put his foot down and deny a return to Hollywood. Bruce and Carrie asking made such a task a highly difficult affair. Bruce and Carrie asking with Carrie placing such trust in Joseph made it almost impossible.

"Dad, whatever you decide to do, we'll be more than understanding and accepting." Bruce added, and despite the heartfelt plea, Joseph knew that Carrie was likely nodding her head in agreement. "However, you deserve something more than just an exile in disgrace, a grand finale to show the world that you're Joseph O'Brian and you're the greatest opportunity that Hollywood ever missed. Why not return to the camera in a role that was made for you, to end things on your terms and your best performance?" Bruce inquired.

Not feeling in any mood or capacity to oppose his youngest and daughter-in-law, and fearful of the side of him that was slowly growing in agreement; Joseph sought to end the conversation for now. "I'll....let me think about it. Just give me time to think, look at the schedule and talk it over with your mom. I'll call you back tomorrow with an answer." Joseph said.

"Sure, take all the time you need." Bruce said.

"Love you both." Joseph said with a tired sigh.

"Love you too." Both Bruce and Carrie said, with Joseph hanging up before he lost his composure on the phone.

Feeling the walls of his home to be suffocating, Joseph resolved to find some answer by taking a walk through Hell's Kitchen as it usually aided him in the past when it came to decisions of great importance. However, instead of his usual clarification and peace of mind; Joseph just wandered around the neighborhood aimlessly, feeling like a stranger in his own skin and as lost and aimless as that taxi guy from that violent movie that Lucasfilms' just released. Joseph then went to Sacred Heart, hoping to find answers from the Lord. All his prayers were met with were feelings that both choices were right in their own ways and Joseph would not be wrong in either path, though he did not want to disappoint Bruce and Carrie.

Having not settled the issue at all, Joseph retreated back to his home, hoping to find a solution through the usual last resort of his life's greatest struggles who almost always had the right answer, his beloved wife Sarah.

Fortunately he would not have to wait long as Joseph smelled his wife's famous potato soup as he entered through the door of their apartment.

"There you are, I was starting to get worried after the Bar said you were absent. Did the Knicks win?" Sarah greeted happily.

Joseph wondered what she was talking about and then remembered the game he had been watching earlier which seemed like a distant memory after the phone call. "No, they won, I think." Joseph said, hanging up his coat and heading to the kitchen where he held onto Sarah as a protective anchor, with the unknowing Sarah cooing at the presence and melting into his arms in what she misinterpreted to be a display of affection.

"Bruce and Carrie called while you were gone."

"Oh? Is Carrie pregnant?" Sarah asked in a teasing tone. Many nights of long phone calls with Carrie helped Sarah accept and respect the couple's decision to hold off on parenthood now, but it didn't mean she hadn't lost her desire for more grandchildren, working with their Irish cousins to push Cat and William to give little Sarah a sibling and conspiring with Susan's folks to get them to tie the knot soon.

"They....they asked me if I could star in a movie they're making soon." Joseph said blankly.

"That's nice. When are you leaving?" Sarah responded in a chipper tone.

Joseph let go of his wife and took a few steps back in shock. "You knew?"

"Well. I don't know what movie they're making right now, but last year Bruce told me that he was close to getting you a part on Star Wars but didn't want to ask that of George when he and Carrie were already cast as the leads and make it seem like he was hijacking the movie. So I had a good feeling like something like this was going to come soon." Sarah informed.

"And you knew and didn't give me any warning?" Joseph asked with a hint of betrayal.

Sarah sighed and set the stove onto low, then turned to her husband with a look of sympathy. "I didn't want you to freak out when nothing was happening and just let the two approach you when they wanted to."

"And after all we went through, after all the crap that town piled on me and how they prevented Cat and Gavin from chasing their dreams, you still want me to go and act in a movie?!" Joseph questioned in hurt, voice rising which was met by a stern gaze and crossed arms from Sarah.

"Sorry." Joseph apologized. "I know you just want what's best for me, but I just, after all of that-"

"Joseph, it's not like you're being asked to take part in a Warner Bros film. Which movie do they want you to be in?" Sarah questioned.

"Five Dates, that romance movie Carrie wrote." Joseph explained.

"Well there you go. You're going to star in a movie written by your daughter, directed by your son under a company he and his best friend own. It's not going to be like the old days, you're going to be on a set surrounded by people who either love you or respect you."

"That's part of what I'm scared of." Joseph said, surprising his wife. "What if everything goes great, by some miracle I give a decent performance and everything's all happy and good while I'm there. What if I want to go back, right after our bar finally became a great success, right after we finally planted our roots for the rest of our lives, right after everything has gone right in our lives for once and our future was just us in blissful retirement? I don't want to go back, to relive that dream after finally putting it to rest, and then just get hurt again. You saw how they treated Clint and Debbie and they're the stars of stars. Why should I go back?" Joseph almost yelled, tears forming in his eyes for old wounds reopening after trying to build a dam for the past couple of hours.

At that, Sarah moved to embrace her husband, giving him a great comforting hug to calm him and depositing loving kisses on his cheeks to simmer the fires of heartache. "No one is asking you to drop everything and make a commitment for the rest of your life, no one is asking you to deal with all that town's garbage. Bruce and Carrie just want you to be in a movie you always wanted to be in, one you deserved to be in. You may be content now, but it took years of swimming in regret to get to this point and you still haven't dried from that desire. Cat and Gavin may have made their peace, but I know you still have those moments, especially whenever Bruce is on screen."

"I am not jealous of our son." Joseph sternly protested. He knew plenty of fathers who tried to live through their kids, and one thing Joseph never wanted was to use his son as some sort of tool when Bruce was living his best life.

"Not of him, but of what he's experiencing." Sarah clarified, something Joseph knew likely to be true in some ways.

"I don't regret the life I've lived since then, of everything we've built." Joseph said. There were so many great and wonderful things that came as a result of his decision to quit. Would his kids have ever found their vocations if they were the son of a famous actor? Would Bruce have achieved nearly as much success if his role in Hollywood was inherited than earned? Would he and Carrie have fallen in love if they were peers of royalty instead of two devoted souls who found each other outside of the mess of Hollywood.

"I know you don't, and I'm happy with everything we've gone through. But you deserve to write that the final chapter of that part of your life, or see if there's potential for a sequel. Whatever Clint and Debbie go through in their careers, they do so having experienced their time behind the camera and having no regrets. At least say the same thing for yourself, and if you don't care about any of that truly, at least do it for Bruce and Carrie. They would not have asked you if they didn't believe in you." Sarah said, reminding Joseph of Carrie's heartfelt plea.

Knowing he could never truly win against his wife and her joining Bruce and Carrie for an unbeatable trio who he couldn't break the hearts of, Joseph relented and decided to at least give it a try, so no matter what this would be at least one part of his life he could truly say he experienced without any regrets. "Fine, at least if I'm mediocre Debbie will be there to steal the spotlight."

Sarah smiled and tiptoed to give a deep kiss of gratitude towards her husband, "You're going to do great, just as you always were."

The statement of belief reminded Joseph of another thing Carrie said, "You truly think that Bruce acts just like I did? I was lucky whenever I was able to get more than a page of lines."

Sarah smiled. "Bruce had to get his acting talent from somewhere. We spent so many nights together practicing scripts for auditions. Hollywood may have been blind, but I always knew I was married to a star just waiting to shine."

Return of the Irishman
That is incredible!

Are you sure you haven't read my update with Bruce and Joseph, cause you read my mind!

Here are the rewards:
[]Dads got some fire in him (Auto pass Joseph's action)
[]Im giving you all I have (Significantly increase chemistry and SP with all who act with him)
[]I might give it another shot (Joseph might be able to bury his fear of Hollywood and try to come back)

Five Dates: Finale (Production)
Five Dates: Finale (Production):

-[X]One Camera: You want to use one camera to work through the film, taking multiple takes, to get it once. You always found it easier to control, but time-consuming.

You only had one camera, and frankly, if you had tried any more, you might be doing something.

Thank god, because at least it was going to be simple, and if you need to adjust, sure the scene would need to be redone.

Yet it was how you worked on TV, and this just meant that you were more familiar with it… mostly. This time you were in control of everything.

Oh boy, you needed to focus.
----------------------------------------

-[X]Michaels's First Job: Mike is not entirely sure of himself before… and you instead took it upon yourself to coach him a little, and make things just a little bit better for him. Get him more comfortable with being in front of the camera. Rolled: D100 => 71

Michael was just feeling a little bit down when you came into his trailer and he was just looking down, watching TV. He was reading the script, but also focusing on an Episode of MASH that was playing.

The door was open, but you instead knocked, causing the young man to turn back and reach for the remote to turn it off. "Sorry Bruce I'm…"

You recognized the episode. It was the season two episode, that was entirely from Radar's perspective.

Your very first episode directed. Honestly, you thought it was your best work on TV from a technical standpoint. "Doing research?" You asked as you gave a small laugh.

"No, I just like the show." He said as he turned the TV off. "It was the only show that was on after the shows we performed."

You nodded. "Well, I'm flattered." You replied. "But what's got you worried?"

"Just that I might flub and fib on the lines." He replied.

"That happens, and honestly, there is nothing wrong with that. Besides, it's not like you are going to do anything different than a concert. It's only instead of singing, you are just talking from a script."

Michael seemed to flinch at that before you shook your head. "What's wrong?"

"Oh, nothing." He said as he put on a smile. Something was wrong, but he didn't want to talk about it. "Um, when are we going to start today?"

"In one hour, get to hair and makeup. Hope you like the frow going down for this."

He smiled at that. "Thanks."

Reward: While there are lingering issues with Michael, he is clearly giving it his all for his favorite character and person in Hollywood.

+20 to SP and Chemistry
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]Dad's Destiny: You and Dad are going to talk about his issues. Rather… his issues with being on film again. Rolled: D100 => 1 (Autopass)

It was at the end of the shooting day, before you finally had a chance to talk to your dad, and you could tell that he was waiting for this. "Well, you didn't-"

"Dad I know you were not into it, talk to me, what's wrong?"

Your father was stretching out his hands. "When I first became an Actor, I worked hard to keep myself, as myself, and not be like those young men and women who will do anything for a job. I had my principles. And after Rawhide… I couldn't keep them any longer. I needed to choose my love of acting or the love of my family. And you knew what I chose. Almost 20 years since I made that choice, and I have never regretted it for one second. I just can't see myself in front of the camera anymore."

"Well, you did good, you raised me well. And you're doing great."

You then paused but felt a need to finally say what you needed. "Dad, why are you not doing as well as you can… Cause I know you're better, you taught me to be better."

Your father sighed before he looked at the camera, then at everyone else. "I'm an old man, who doesn't have dreams like you. I've accepted my lot in life."

"No, you haven't." You replied as you stood up. "Otherwise you wouldn't be here with your son. And you wouldn't want anything to do with this."

You smiled. "You wanted this as much as I did."

Reward: You and your father realize that he still wants to be back in the Game.

Just not in the way he expected.

+20 to SP and chemistry roll.

-[X]A Few Problems Less: Gary needs you to help him with some issues with the City of LA… turns out you need to appear for another thing. Rolled:D100 => 85

The county supervisor was just too much for you, but Gary seemed to be playing it cool. "We've already come through with the necessary paperwork to film in this location, written permission from not only the owner of the building but also everyone on the block." He slides over a folder with all the contracts and the signatures.

If you didn't know any better, you were sure that the supervisor was looking for any reason to shut down the shoot. But instead, he grumbled. "There is a form that needs Mister O'Brians signature." He slid over the form, and you signed it.

"Are we done here?" You asked.

"Yes." He replied.

You sighed and you and Gary walked away. "You take a look at the campaign donations for the supervisor?" He asked.

"No, not really my thing." You replied.

"Just want to let you know, I did some digging, and we need to be careful. Universal helped fund this guy's campaign."

Oh for the love of- "Seriously? Are they trying to screw everyone else over?"

"Just the people they consider a threat." He then smiled. "Don't worry about it, I already covered our asses, so if they try to stop production, we can sue the city, and that's something no one wants after the strike."

You nodded. "You make it sound like everyone's against us?"

"Everyone is, one way or another," Gary stated with a smile. "Everyone wants us to fail. So I'm not letting them get the satisfaction of seeing that."

Reward: You and Gary deal with some paperwork.

You have learned from Gary that Universal is playing politics to slow down productions of independent filmmakers to try and dominate the theaters.

While what they are doing is technically not illegal, as most of the film productions don't aren't required by the county and city of LA to fill out all the forms that were needed until after shooting has wrapped, some do, but most were ignored to prevent a huge amount of paperwork…

With this new supervisor, you are seeing a lot more paperwork needing to be done before filming can begin.

Unknown Effect in the Future.

-[X]Five nights and five Dates on Set: George came in with Marcia, and there was something that just made you feel fuzzy. And Carrie knew it. Rolled:D100 => 48

It was actually a quick thing, something that was really funny.

George was coming in to check on your progress for… well it was just because he was nearly finished with editing the film and the battles within it.

And just wanted to finally relax.

To think that George hadn't had a break in almost a month and he decided to spend time with you, on a movie set.

Well, it worked, because he and Marcia helped out with products that last two days, so you wrapped up under budget and ahead of schedule.

Reward: Thank goodness that George came, otherwise you might have been a day late.

But seriously, you are happy that George and Marcia helped out and got away from Star Wars. It reminded them that there were other things here.

Also unknown positive effect next turn.

Production:D100 => 58

Despite the possibility of the shoot getting a bit hectic, you managed to get it done on schedule.

Now you just need to edit the damn thing.

Hopefully, someone in Hollywood not named Marcia could edit it. You didn't want her workload to kill her.

AN: Well the Autopass looks like you needed that.

Also, enjoy. I'll get the production notes either tomorrow or tonight.

-[X]Dad's Destiny: You and Dad are going to talk about his issues. Rather… his issues with being on film again. Rolled: D100 => 1 (Autopass)

"If I had a nickel for everytime I wrote an Omake that saved an important career moment for a major male figure in Bruce's life that also prevented a major disaster in his relationships thanks to a nat 1 I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice right?"

This meme was brought to you by the Omake gang.

You are all truly wonderful.
Holy shit, Kaiser fucking clutched it.
Again... pisses me off that I didn't get to use the "I'm done" speech I planned...

But that doesn't seem very good.

Five Dates: Finale (Production):
Daym. Rollercoaster of emotions.
If it's alright with you, mind if in the Bros script, we add a dedication to Bruce's dad? With what you've written, I kinda want to imply our version of Red Foreman was heavily inspired by Joseph.
