Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I have had an either awesome or terrible brainwave...

What if we take the place of Jean Claude Van Dam in the Street Fighter movie, and, besides putting some actual decently choreographed fights in the movie, we match the Aweso Hamniness of Raul Julia, making the movie a in truly unintentionally comedy masterpiece...

Hell, if Bruce did it for cheap, they might even have a budget.
Infamously, JCVD and Julia ate almost the entirety of the casting budget, and while Julia gave a masterfully hammy performance of a lifetime, as we all know Van Dam couldn't act out of cardboard box.
The man has talents, I don't deny that. It is just that acting is not one of them.
...
...
Also, if it does happen, if no one else does it, I'm writing an omake where Bruce fights tooth and nail for Guile haircut.

Pitch: Kung Fu Kid- Part II
SNIP

Pretty great and solid sequel. Seems like it's going to be a really good breakout role for Jackie Chan, lots of great character development, and it's nice to see James still involved and Sue still be committed to Bobby instead of brushed to the side. I wonder what a third film would be, focused on James or maybe it's Bobby going back to America and he starts his own dojo and trains a teenage girl student like in Karate Kid 4? Feel bad for Pat Morita, though at least he'll have Happy Days.

Although one issue I do have question on, in a 1980s PRC, would rural life really feature gangs controlling the town? I guess it's nothing too major for the CCP to give a shit, though just wanted to be clear. Unfortunately China didn't officially allow national releases of US films until 1994, but there were some small film festivals in the 80s with foreign films so maybe we can cash in through that. If nothing else it'd definitely be a hit in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

So I guess the plan is that right after Star Wars is done filming we begin pre-production on Kung Fu Kid? Sometime this year or early next year while we're filming MASH, we should network with Sylvester Stallone so that way he comes to us first with Rocky. It may sound weird and gamey on Bruce networking with a dude whose done nothing but Extra work, but since my reward pushed Stallone to do boxing as a side gig, maybe Bruce heard about him from local boxers and wants to scout Stallone as a potential Lucasfilms hire.

Thanks! Jackie does know about us, so as soon as I saw him save Eisner I wrote a script that would let him do his famous physical comedy, which he initially wasn't allowed to do as people were pushing him to be Bruce Lee's 'successor'. (Fun fact Tai Hou, the characters name, should loosely translate into Monkey of the Sacred Mountain, which is appropriate)

As for a third movie? I kinda think Bruce would purely wrote and produce with only a cameo. I have a vague idea of James having to confront his old abusive martial arts teacher Kyle, kinda fight his own trauma and overcome his past.

And yeah, when we finish Star Wars we should definitely jump on Rocky and Kung Fu Kid.

Rocky should be reasonable to obtain? Stallone apparently was inspired by Goose's championship match here, and while the company isn't exactly making too many waves right now, Stallone got desperate enough to go into pornography and temporarily sold his dog to get the movie made, so it's reasonable to assume he might come and sign a deal for Lucasfilm.

Hopefully it's as big a bit as OTL, and we can sign Stallone up to a longer term contract. I'd love to have Rambo and the Rocky movies all be made by Lucasfilm, that would carry the studio well into the 80's.

We also should absolutely reach out to Robert Zemeckis once we get closer to 1980 in order to snatch up Back to the Future away from Universal.

It's a very rural and traditional way of life there, very isolated in areas. There were rebel groups and even bandits into the late 20th century in some areas. So a gang taking control of a village with plans to extort more isn't too out there.

Damn I love this:

[]I finally got some skill (+5 to Screen writing skills)
[]And So there Would be A Turn (Linda came to you, and read what you had in the script. She loved it)
[]One More Struggle (Next Development of the Kungfu kid will leave it with a 70 script quality)

The Casting Call For Heroes
The Casting Call For Heroes:

When you looked at the names and audition tapes for Luke and Leia, you were impressed by how many young actors and actresses in Hollywood came to buckle down and handle the part or at least audition.

Apparently, the symbols and rumors of failure and going over budget ring hollow to Hollywood and the actors and actresses, for two simple reasons.

One George Lucas was his own man, and did things at the beat of his own tune, which was honestly refreshing with the whole… Corporate Hollywood is seemingly and certainly sucking the joy out of movie-making. There is also the fact he was the new head honcho, besides yours truly, of a new movie and production studio.

And he was working on a science fiction story. That set off all sorts of bells and whistles all over Hollywood.

Because no one goes all in on a space story if he doesn't have plans to back it all up.

The second, and less obvious, was that you had quietly advertised that whoever got the part would get a very high sighing bonus, a hundred thousand dollars in cash. It was partially to lure out all the greedy actors and actresses looking for a payday than dipping away, sullying their reputations for a quick buck…

But it also provided a fair few incentives for people to give their all, even for an audition.

You wanted to see who was going to be your hero's. And you were not going to do a damn thing more, save for choosing the people that you wanted to have.
-----------------------------------

You were goddamn lucky that Harrison was willing to come in to read the other actors. Though for a pretty penny to be sure, it was worth it.

Because you knew immediately that he could smell blood in the water, and was pushing them to their absolute limits.

Who do you want to Audition for Luke Skywalker?
(Choose 3)
[]Kurt Russell
[]Richard Dreyfuss
[]Ron Howard
[]Pierce Brosnan
[]Mark Hamill
[]William Katt
[]Write in

Who do you Cast as Princess Leia
(Choose 3)
[]Carrie Fisher
[]Jodie Foster
[]Amy Irving
[]Linda Carter
[]Karen Allen
[]Write in

AN: enjoy and vote in plan format please.

Why are all the written choices just a bunch of white people?

In J.W. Rinzler's behind the scenes look of Star Wars, The Making of Star Wars: The Definitive Story Behind the Original Film he mentioned that if George had been successful with casting Mifune as Obi-Wan, and I know none of you folks are gonna pass that opportunity, while also partially because Star Wars was Lucas letting out his inner weeb, he'd have made the cast so much more diverse.

Princess Leia would've been Japanese, Han Solo would've been black, Luke? Well, that's never stated, but diversity is nice, and if we are really gonna be a bunch of outlaw maverick movie makers, getting a bunch of minorities in our movies, in defiance of the norms of the time, could emphasize our reputation.

I honestly wouldn't mind any of the others as alternatives if we couldn't get Hamill or Carrie, but these are as good as any.

For those two roles? I'd be more surprised if they weren't, all things considered. A combination of available talent and all the ways doing otherwise would potentially backfire (plus, you know, people the players would recognize). Especially if the two being siblings is decided on ahead of time (rather than later or abandoned).

Now, more diversity in the Rest of the cast? Very reasonable and believable, I'd say.

Because most of them are the ones I scoured when I did my Wiki dive and watching the entire audition tape were white?

I just chose some of the ones from the 1975 Audition tapes, and people Bruce would choose because they were his friends.

You have full control over what you want to cast with the write-in, so if you want to do something different use it!

I was just being lazy to be honests and am wishing to get an update out before going to bed.

I do think that Mark Hamill is perfect as Luke, and I honestly can't see anyone else in the role. As for Leia, I don't think we need to make it Carrie as we can make more female roles rather than the meme-able "two women in the whole galaxy" OTL was. For Leia, I kind of want to go with some actresses who haven't had a chance in mainstream. I kind of want to see Carrie as a contact for Han Solo in the Hutt Clans that gave him info or another smuggler that joined the Resistance themselves. Something that has a little grit to it and challenges norms.

[X]Plan: Greater Casting Decisions
-[X]Mark Hamill
-[X]Kurt Russell

[X] Plan The Skywalker Saga

So I'm dearly hoping for Mark and Carrie to get the W and I'll probably pull an all-nighter developing an Omake to increase their chances. As for the other choices, here's my thoughts:

Ron is a pretty decent actor and outside of the alternatives, to me he definitely looks the most like Luke in terms of personality and character appearence. He could probably do pretty well as a bright-eyed farmboy turned Jedi and it would be awesome for Ron to have a huge A-list role beyond Happy Days. He's already worked great with us before on Graffiti, and in the future he can be a HUGE asset to Lucasfilms as a Director and Producer, not to mention his daughter with Bryce directing some of the best Star Wars tv episodes.

Pierce Brosnan cause he's a badass and James motherfucking Bond. Also Pierce is Irish so Irish unity is always a plus. While Ron would probably be strong at emotional stuff, Pierce could kill lightsaber duels. Linda cause she's a good friend of Bruce and would do great in action scenes. Don't know anyone who could make for a strong third pick for Leia but I'm gonna go with Karen cause I liked her in Raiders and while Jodie would be perfectly talented, with her being so young the twins plotline could not possibly work.

@Magoose So how does this work? Everyone gets rolls and whoever gets the highest wins?

Well Yes and no.

I want to say that as long as the actors and actresses pass 20 for their rolls... Then they will be available, and the highest will win.

However, if the Magoose dice decides to be bastards and make them all roll lower then 20...

We have to go again and vote for others, because the ones that rolled lower then 20 are out.

If you guys don't include the - in front of the name it doesn't register as a plan properly.
I've combined the plans into one Franken-Plan. While adding my own contribution.

Well that certainly brings up new considerations.
