Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Hey folks don't worry, we can always release a Director's Cut of the movie at some point, edited by someone whose not out to get Carrie/cursed by Mongoose Dice.

Wait was Carrie's movie the 1st cut version or the theatrical release version, like it's currently out in theaters?

No it's a test screening with a studio audience to get a feel for the movie and gauge a sample size of public reaction before it gets released to general audiences. At this point the film is a rough draft but usually it shouldn't be too divergent from the final product, usually. An example is in Turn 22 where George kind of arranged an impromptu screening at Universal, he almost got arrested but all the Universal employees loved the film and afterwards word spread around that it was a classic in the making.

The general public probably isn't aware of what it's like, but word is probably spreading around Hollywood of how atroctious Some Nights apparently is and this might make critics biased against the film and pull a 180 on the establishment's support of the film. The good news is that with some proper editing it can still be salvaged and a hit with general audiences. For example, when Star Wars had its test screenings most people hated it or were confused, but then Marcia did her miracle work in the editing and it turned into the massive cultural sensation we know and love today. So Carrie can still save it, but her and Hollywood are probably at poor relations to say the least.

Is there any way we could save Carrie's film? Do we have an editor we could spare?

Marcia Lucas is one of the best editors in film history and aside from probably doing some administrative work in Lucasfilms she is definitely free right now. She saved Graffiti in the Quest and OTL and was a critical component in making the Original Trilogy so great. If anyone can save Some Nights it's her.

@Magoose Which studio is making Some Nights and who the hell is the Director and Producer? It seems the O'Brian shit list has a couple more names.

Maybe Bruce could buy Some Nights? From their perspective, it's a money losing movie that they could recoup some or all of the investment while Bruce would be saddled with a terrible movie that would hurt Lucasfilm if they distributed it.

For Bruce's perspective, Some Nights has a great movie in there somewhere. If he could edit it to become one, he could make a ton of money while saving Carrie's vision.

BTW with Reagan being way more popular is there a chance he might get the 1976 Republican nominations? OTL it was a really close contest against sitting president Ford that he barely lost.

I don't think we should be able to influence who is elected president/gets the nomination, as well as politics in general apart from some very limited areas. For example if Reagan wins in 1976, would he have done a better job than Carter? Would someone like George H. W. Bush governed differently if he wins in 1980 (in case Reagan gets the nomination in 1976 but looses to Carter in the general election)? This will get way to political very fast, because your opinion on any of those questions is linked to your views on current politics.

Honestly just leave mainstream politics alone, especially if it doesn't make sense for things to change.

I still remember the 'Henson at Disney' timeline where for some reason Yugoslavia didn't collapse and the Soviet Union became the 'Sovereign Union' while MeToo occurred more then 25 years earlier without social media to help it.

Basically, what I'm saying is, don't inject your wish fulfilment into politics. Keep it in the background and only bring it up if absolutely necessary or the players want to push hard for it.

Okay so we speak Japanese.

Now is the time to strike and get some deals going for distributing Toho films.

Specifically, I wanna' see if we can do a dub of Monkey Sun.

Director was the guy who taught Akira Kurosawa, and it's one of those early Tokusatsu films. It's also, to this day, never had an American release or even sub'd in english.

Warhammer Fantasy doesn't exist yet, but I think we're seeing the establishment of an early Book of Grudges...
I'm actually planning to try and get Bruce into 40K in the 90's. Robin Williams was an Ork player after all.

I'm thinking Dark Angels or Space Wolves, since he likes fantasy, medieval literature and Conan the Barbarian esc stuff.

Salamanders are the coolest Chapter. Big scary guys with flamethrowers but they're actually pretty cool underneath all that armor and roasted Ork flesh.

Plus they green.

I know, but as I said, one of Bruce's favourite book series is Conan the Barbarian and he likes medieval history. Both of which factor into Dark Angels and Space Wolves a lot more

He's also played a military character, runs a charity for veterans, and has campaigned on their behalf. Could go with the Imperial Guard with all that.

Universal is the distribution company.

The director is Gene Kelly. He wasn't happy with what the editors did either.

The Producers are... really not producers but Universal middlemen looking for a promotion, so I'm not going to give them the satisfaction of saying their names.

And Alan Ladd Jr who is Carries only ally in the producer room.

Which is why, I'm keeping it out unless you all directly... get involved. The only reason Ronnie Raygun got involved or even mentioned, was because or protests and lobbying really... well, took off and he harnessed it for his own political purposes.

Plus he's the governor of the state we're in.
Don't say the m word or else they will notice us.
but my name starts with an M? :V
@Magoose can we audition in Monty Python and the Holy Grail?
no.

Or... hear me out... Everyone tries to make him a guardsmen due to that.

"But..."

"No, Robin."

"What if..."

"I ain't gonna be help responsible for my actions if you finish that sentence."

"...how about being GM?"

"You had me buy over a $1000 dollars in miniatures, and you want me to be GM?"

"Well, you don't want to be a Guardsman, so what else am I supposed to do?"

"...alright, I'll do it."

"Yes!"

"I don't know why you're celebrating, I've still got the falling rocks in my back pocket from last time."

I'm more imagining that South Park episodes featuring Bruce would have him as an absolute force of nature as a Chuck Norris level badass who just demolishes everything in his path and through the power of Guinness becomes a titan in whatever he chooses to do...only for Bruce to do a 180 and turn into a complete cinnamon roll whenever he's with his family or friends. Like just imagine him beating Cartman to near death and then Carrie comes with his granddaughter and Bruce just drops everything to go have a tea party.
I haven't really read the omakes, is it actually public knowledge how we act in private with family and friends? Besides, parodies like South Park usually go with the worst possible interpretation of any rumors going around for comedic effect, so it might be more along the lines of beating someone to near death then suing them for damages; getting offended at something someone did and then starting a business that is in direct competition to theirs out of pettiness; and going out of their way trying to prove that he is a badass, like getting into a dangerous situation (or causing it since there were rumors we had started the MASH fire to look heroic) then going "I trained all my life for this moment!" or walking into a veteran's bar and saying something like "Hello my fellow badasses, how is it going?". It isn't South Park if it isn't at least a bit cringe worthy and they do like casting celebrities as villains.
