Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Well for starters, combat arts work with your weapons. They do things like raise the DV of your weapons AND add successes to any attack that hits AND ignores the targets armor. And attacking with a Zephyr's Breath dagger attack also interrupts FVM, so that's not actually even a consideration since it goes both ways.

So basically the entire logic you built here is wrong.

In which way? I mentioned all of that. And from what I gather Arm arts are "Blast the enemy with energy thingy". Some Combat Arts work with Weapons, some don't. From what I have seen most people are planning on going to the direct energy attacks, which not only loses us our Throwing Daggers mastery, but also loses weapons and Zephyr Breath bonuses.

I mentioned that both daggers and Arm Arts interrupt FVM. Still not worth it in terms of combat dice and actions spent.

Well, arms arts like Gu Xiulan's don't as long as we can kick moonbeams.

Anyway, mmh. Forgot EPC in my plan, so I have to switch out something. I guess it's either one of the two physical or hunting. What are people's thought?

So Ling Qi is a mom now. I wasn't expecting that, but I am very excited for our potential turtle/mystery child.

Art wise, I want us to finish off Argent Soul and start on EPC. If we do the Moon Fill next week it'll help.

Social Link wise, I'm thinking Suyin, Su Ling, and Han Jian. Though subbing out Su Ling for Guangli might. E a good idea. It thanks the guy who saved our bacon and gives USB a potential in with Lady Cai.

I would vote for one of the two physcial's being removed. I really think that we need to start working on sect quests. For example if we did the hard gathering quest we would get 8 sect points. We would explore the mountain. We would get combat experience. We would get more beast cores from the things that attack us. We would get their hides to sell for even more red spirit stones. Other sect quests give other things similar to this list. Sect quests seem really really good.

Obviously not physical; all of our pills proc physical or use it to boost something else, so dropping it would be horrendously inefficient.

Assuming you change this, I think that leaves our plans functionally identical; I'd be willing to just vote for yours at that point.

I may be missing something but how do you intend to get EPC in one week. We only have 23 (Talent 6, AS4 6, Spirit stones 10 Suyin 2)dice for it and we need 25 successes?

I wouldn't get rid of the mission. We need a spirit stone income with our drug use and it's good practice for next week. Get rid of a physical, we don't need it to get AS5.

Also I just noticed you were doing two physicals where I was doing 1 physical 1 spiritual.

This update was super fluffy. I loved the tortoise's dry commentary on the drama and general cynicism, and Meizhen's cute and bewildered responses to Ling Qi's ... Ling Qi-ness. I guess from the outside, it must seem baffling that Ling Qi blunders into things and then comes back out with an egg or Art or something completely by accident. Meizhen's probably the most unflappable person we've met and even she ends up just going "bwuh?"

Although we all thought Meizhen would get an Art too but she only got, granted, very potent, medicine. Strange. So, an Art wasn't guaranteed? Or the Sect just didn't want to give it to Meizhen?

Arm arts are attack arts - blast with energy is an arm art, but so is wreath a weapon with energy, or hit with a weapon really really hard. If attacking is a major goal of the art, it's an arm art. We don't know what weapons will play nicely with the art we grab, but daggers are a low DV weapon - yrsillar has stated if we turn a non-weapon into a weapon as part of a talisman he'll use daggers for the model. They're that bad. They're a backup weapon, and while I'm not in a rush to drop them, they will always be a stop-gap.

It took us twenty turns to beat the worm, and that could only happen at all because it was an artificial fight against in a closed room. We couldn't have fought the Bats at all without help - our contribution was making things easier for Cui and Meizhen. That's fine when we're backing up a team stronger then us, but as we climb the ranks our own contributions will have to be more front and center. Like, at the inner sect test, we will very much need a powerful attack art. Our baby Dragon-Tortoise isn't going to take all comers.

And the idea that we should never drop FVM is just wrong. There's a reason it last four turns after we stop playing. It's so that the technique is useful, rather then a trap.

So here it is, the promised plan. We'll see how many actually want it, rather then just wanting to complain I suppose.

[x] For Fuck's Sake, Let's Just Get One Bloody Attack Art
-[x] 3 red stones, Channel Cleansing Pill, Argent Elixir
-[x] Major Actions
--[x] Cultivate Argent Mirror with Bai Meizhen
---[x] Mention your theory that it's part of a set of four, and ask if she thinks it might be right, and if so, it's worthwhile to try and search for the others.
---[X] Unslot the art afterwords to get ready for learning a new art from the library.
--[x] Train at the vent with Suyin and Su Ling
---[x] Meridian (Arm)
--[x] Visit the Archive
---[x] Search for a technique
----[x] Arm-Head-Spine
---[X] Research the egg. What does it need to hatch?
--[X] Take a Job
---[X] Hard Gathering Mission
-[x] Minor Actions
--[x] Go out with Xiulan in your downtime, perhaps she can help you do something with your hair
---[x] Ask about inviting Bai Meizhen
--[x] Spend some time with Su Ling, perhaps you can learn a little bit of hunting tactics and harvesting from her
---[x] We promised Cui that rabbit, and we're good for it.
--[x] Spend some time with Han Jian outside of training, what do they do for fun?

She might have just straight up failed that second test, and thus, gotten a lesser reward--a transitory bonus rather than a permanent one.

I'd swap out hunting simply to avoid the unlikely possibility not finishing AS. Although the number of spirit stones usable is based upon our lowest physical/spiritual cultivation so pushing toward middle physical won't allow it by itself, but it provides benefit toward combat so I won't object given we cannot afford to slack on it.

[X] Plan Moongernized
-[X] Resources: Starlight Elixir, Argent Elixir, 3 red stones, Steady Growth Pill, bear marrow elixir
-[X]Major Actions:
--[X] Starlight Elixir
--[X] Train with Han Jian and his group
---[X] SCS
--[X] Train at the vent with Suyin and Su Ling
---[X] Physical
---[X] You are still worried about Suyin, perhaps the two of you could study formations together? It might get her mind off things
--[X] Visit the Archive
---[X] Research the egg. What does it need to hatch?
--[X] Cultivate Argent Mirror with Bai Meizhen
--[X] Cultivate on your own
---[X] EPC
-[X]Minor actions:
--[X] Spend some time with Han Jian outside of training, what do they do for fun?
---[X] Tell him about the tokens
--[X] Go out with Xiulan in your downtime, perhaps she can help you do something with your hair
---[X] Ask about inviting Bai Meizhen
--[X] Try to puzzle out the tokens left from the test
-[X] Overflow to Physical.

Not doing a job hurts me, but I really want to begin EPC and begin research egg as fast as possible. Two full physical and two combat art rolls more than assure AS5, to the point we are actually probably going to get 15 or so spiritual successes here. People have talked about sharing a Qi card with Meizhen, but I don't know what art there she would like. Honestly, if we are talking about lending Qi cards, it feels like it would help Su Ling or Li Suyin much more.

As for why double physical instead of hunting, beside the delicious overflow it's also simply because it means we can get to mid Silver next week, and that means that instead of using 3 red stone/1yellow we'll be using 2red/2yellow, which gives +8 dice to everything.

I'm also thinking of giving Li Suyin our extra Qi Foundation Pill, but.... not yet put it in the plan.

I may be missing something but how do you intend to get EPC in one week. We only have 23 (Talent 6, AS4 6, Spirit stones 10 Suyin 2)dice for it and we need 25 successes?

I'm not planning to get EPC in one week, I meant I forgot to begin cultivating it at all.

Double Physical is necessary for a very, very sharp increase in our dice pool at the end of next week.

EDIT: OK, made a major edit, edited out SCS to put back hunting in.
Re-Edit: EPC in, SCS in, Hunting out. SCS and EPC are simply too good this turn, and we can do double quest next turn.

I think the point isn't that we intend to finish it, but that we intend to start it - which means we start getting benefits from it sooner.

Honest, I'm not categorically against doing something else with that slot - but I'm not sure that a gathering mission or whatnot is worth more it. I don't think we were planning to use the sect points in the near future, and the other benefits are nice but not overwhelming.

If we do get an attack art soon, I'm hoping for a Death/Wind archery art.
Practical? Who knows.
And we'd need the hands-free music options for best effect.

Maybe some eyebeams/blasts would be better.

But we need to up our damage so yrsillar doesn't have to roll out 20+ turns of Qi-efficient plink damage.
Even another heart art with some damage options would work in that regard.

Although we all thought Meizhen would get an Art too but she only got, granted, very potent, medicine. Strange. So, an Art wasn't guaranteed? Or the Sect just didn't want to give it to Meizhen?
Possible it's a medicine that goes very well with the Art the other person picks up. So best effect comes with both sides sharing their gains. Might not be though. Either the medicine is a valid prize, or it's the consolation prize for not seeing through the deception.

@Arkeus If you want to keep the physical training, you could swap out the SCS training with Han Jian, move the physical training to that and place EPC with the Argent Vent. We lose the SCS training, but AMA will take up the spine slot anyway and so we would need to train another meridian for the spine before we can use SCS and that way we can still do a sect mission

I'm happy to support this plan; lets do this thing!

Only thing is that we might want to swap the token action for a Su Ling action to prepare for the moon gathering thing next week.

[X] For Fuck's Sake, Let's Just Get One Bloody Attack Art

FINALLY! An arm Art

She might have just straight up failed that second test, and thus, gotten a lesser reward--a transitory bonus rather than a permanent one.
Or she just didn't pick the right route/Mimic Worm after-battle reward for an Art.

This advances our cultivation in both Spiritual and Physical, and starts working on the EPC. We should finish Argent Soul this week due to +5 due to vent and bonus successes due to Argent Elixir and 2 Physical rolls and Argent Mirror roll. By cultivating Argent Mirror, we equip it, and we can leave it alone while it will train itself every week. I also get us started on learning about the egg and fixing the relationship prbolems we have with Suying and Han Jian. Last minor action is for learning about the tokens so we get more resources to cultivate.

Should also point out that with this plan, we have a good chance to break trough to Middle Silver, which gives us both combat potential and faster cultivation speed.

Honestly, I want to take at least one mission, and I consider that to be a hard stop, we're hemmoraging resources rapidly and there's no sign of this ever stopping.

The egg and a mission are the two things we absolutely have to do this turn IMO, we can get two Physical Cultivation actions though by training SCS and Argent Mirror however if we use a Starlight Elixir, and this'll also give us enough Argent Soul buffs that we'll have a high chance of mastering it if we use Argent Elixirs as well.

So, Mission, Egg, Argent Mirror, Sable Crescent Step, and Eight Phase Ceremony. Boom, all major actions done. We get two physical cultivation throws leaking from the Starlight Elixir thanks to training SCS and AM, and SCS and AM both contribute to our Argent Soul progress.

EDIT: In fact, I'll make a plan with this in mind. One moment.

Might consider asking Su Ling about what exactly we are supposed to do with Beast Cores; IIRC, she manages her cultivation mostly through using those.

Asking Bai about the egg and spirit-bonding - since she clearly recognized it, and seems to know stuff about it - would be cool, too, but I guess it can wait.

Yeah, switch SCS for the hunting mission, which means I am also switching out tokens. Gimme a second.
