Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

I've a few questions that have probably been long since been addressed but aren't on the information tabs.

About how physically superhuman are those in early/mid bronze? Not mechanics wise, but description wise. 10x peak human? Is there a way to measure it by that view with dots and health boxes?

How many stages does each level of cultivation have? I'm aware of it for red through green, but am ignorant otherwise.

How long until someone who's, say, stuck at early indigo have until they die of old age? Is there a scale for that?

When has yrsillar hinted our first chance to increase our talent will probably be?

Is there any notable difference between RL China's yearly and seasonal calendar and this one's?

Most of those we're probably going to have to wait for Yrs to tell, but for the strength I'll give it an attempt, probably a bad one but still an attempt:

Remember that Su Ling just recently described her strength as being able to shatter boulders, and even if she used a sword the strength means she could probably do the same via fists. Although her hands are a lot bigger than a bullet, I would imagine a 'bullet' of that size would be about equal to that amount of damage... if fired at equivalent speed to a 50cal rifle.

Eyeballing it based on this:

A normal 50 cal bullet, which I believe is about finger sized maybe, does not win against boulders.

Completely inaccuracte method, but it should give you an idea of how strong Su Ling is. She can probably take a hit as hard as she can dish as well as a normal human can take a punch equivalent to what they can dish: she would bruise badly but otherwise would take a good amount to put her down, unless she gets kidney punched or uppercut or something. A real life 50cal would probably give her a slight bruise, but without a headshot or unfortunate hit on joints be completely useless. Lesser arms won't even do that.

Su Ling is mid silver, we are bronze.

I don't think were quite at superman level yet, but to normal humans, even with guns, it doesn't really make much difference. You would need at least anti-tank weapons, and remember to go with the strength and durability we would have an equivalent speed. If punches are moving at bullet speeds for them to hold so much kinetic energy then we must have quite literal bullet time reaction speeds, and straight running I can't even begin to guess, but if we couldn't at least keep up with cars on highway speeds for a short time I would be surprised.

This is mostly guesswork, but I think for now this is as close as we can reasonably get to an answer. As things get crazier with typical Xianxia fashion (I'm looking at you, ending a chapter with 'And all this passed in the blink of an eye') then even this vague of an answer won't work.

Edit: erm can I link stuff like this? As its come up automatically formatted I assume so but if not I'll take it down.

4. Talent increase potential? We don't know when talent increase will occur, or if it will ever occur. We should be on the lookout for it though!
Yrs has said before that most violets and prisms are Talent 8 or 9 so increasing your talent should be possible at some point, although it's likely to be far in the future for us/extremely difficult to achieve.

If you assume Reds cap out around 100 years, and that the age limit increases linearly then a rough increase of 125 years per realm would make sense (capping out at 975 years for White), though it's unlikely to be that rigid a limit.
Red - 100
Yellow - 225
Green - 350
Cyan - 475
Indigo - 600
Violet - 725
Prism - 850
White - 975

I don't think that is a safe assumption.

Actually, as I read it, the 1000 age cap is NOT the life expectancy of a White Cultivator. It is the age at which a the soul of any unascended human starts going wonky. So if anything, I expect a White to be able to physically live longer, and indeed for lower level cultivators to be able to make it to 1000 as well.

Basically, by my read the 1000 limit is how old your soul is allowed to get, which is separate from how old your body can get.

Whites can physically coast along for awhile after that point, though their bodies begin to break down as well, but the ones who are getting to that age typically make certain arrangements when reaching it. Because no one benefits from ultra powerful elders descending into magic soul dementia, least of all the white themselves.

Is this a totally intractable problem so far or have any cultivators successfully pursued means similar to lichdom or strengthening the soul somehow to buy more time?

Since we are asking questions right now, I want to know how superhuman Ling Qi looks right now. Is she super-humanly beautiful with unnaturally graceful movements? I seem to recall her having stars in her hair now, like a night sky.

I really hope the meeting with her mother takes place as an interlude, told from the mothers point of view. I would love to see Ling Qi from the point of view of a mortal.

Since all her peers are getting stronger as well it's hard to judge how far she has come.

It occurs to me now that with the increased level of formality of Ling Qi's gown, it feels a bit inappropriate for her to bum around in it literally all the time.

This could be Cai's secret plot to get Ling Qi to get some more clothes dammit :p

huh, right. There's this vote thing going on. I wonder what the tally's like?

@yrsillar, we need some clarification about Flying Sword combat. You say that Flying swords have durability, like armor. Armor loses one point of durability when it gets hit, regardless of the amount of damage, but you say that domain weapons halve all damage from non-domain weapon sources. Do flying swords have durability like armor, or is it actually health boxes?

Do flying swords only take damage when someone targets them, or do they take damage when they get blocked by something, including other flying swords? How do flying swords work defensively? If our opponent is defending themselves with their flying sword do we clash against their flying sword dice pool, their defense dice pool, both? Does the defending, or both, flying swords take damage when they conflict, and what determines it? Does the attacking sword (or the sword that rolls more successes) take damage from the other weapon's bonus damage, even if it wouldn't otherwise take damage because the other sword isn't attacking (or rolled fewer successes which would normally mean dealing no damage)?

Alternatively it could of course be the case that barely anyone who isn't an Elder remains in a sect beyond 100 years and all those extra people are indeed employees or some equivalent.

Also, recall that all of the Inner Sect members are ranked and fight over spots. It seems a bit odd to me that employees would be included in such a ranking system.

Perhaps the policy is once an Inner Sect member, forever an Inner Sect member? They can faff off to work for a noble family, serve in the military or other branch of government etc. for a few decades but are still welcomed back to the sect whenever they want. It would be more reasonable than someone staying in the sect for 50 to 100 years right off the bat.

I wonder how many sect points you would earn if you wander off, found a unique art and added it to the sect archive?

It's been, what, two days? How did you get that done in two days? That is amazing.
Art's pretty quick as long as you're willing to accept simplifications and shortcuts, and it's definitely not as detailed as it could have been (for example, there's no real pattern to the vine motif). Erebeal's definitely been improving over the past ~1.5 years that I remember seeing them around, though, even if there are a few more of those simplifications than I personally would prefer.

@tricholysis has the right of it. Like, I started sketching it out yesterday afternoon, and one can save a lot of time by using a more impressionistic style rather than doing fine deal really precisely. A lot of my time actually goes into research and fiddling with important bits of detail like faces and hands.

Even so, I still wish I could do it faster :p

Obviously you need more practice, hey well would you look at that.... GG doesnt have any recent fanart.... if only we knew some artist with time on their hands. Hnmmmm if only
