Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Shouldn't it be 670?

Anyway, there is no use to taking more than 1 blind Fate Charms I think, and there is also not much point in Void Stone Stud considering it's barely better than Slippers (and we would be good enough against remote viewing thanks to other stuff), and our weak point is larceny dice, not stealth.

If we are worried about the heists, we need a larceny talisman rather than another stealth one.
It's less about failing the heists themselves

And more about avoiding any possibility of being fingered with responsibility for the deed

TehChron beat me to it, but yeah, basically. "Failure isn't the issue here, it's getting caught that is."

To be fair though, these guys aren't on Renshu's level. Nor are we going into a secret underground lair to execute our heists here. We're not going to need that many Larceny checks, and our natural bonuses are going to carry us hard too. Plus, commissioning a Larceny Talisman will generally only mean one thing.

Better to avoid getting caught (Like, say, Renshu seeing where we're going and tipping off the owner that we're intruding) than anything else.

Our stealth is good enough that that part is only an issue insofar that fingers will be pointed at us anyway, or if there are larceny tests that knock us out if we fail.

???

It's a mountain of the siren, obviously

An alluring song that draws people in to the peak of the world where the wind does howl and caress and carry death with its promises of beauty and cold rest. The wind cuts through you, showering in sleet and bullets of rain as you wander helplessly through the stubborn and unyielding forests which makes those high places their home. You proceed ever further, desperately seeking the source of that unearthly sound and endure hardship and pain, lost in the melody and surroundings both, too enraptured to pay attention as the world around you takes a grim roll for your being enamored.

Only two destinies await those who brave those howling winds and cruel mists:

To die alone within the fog, proving little more than sustenance for those who dwell within it.

Or to find that cruel beauty, who steals heart and fortune alike with a cunning and mysterious smile

Like if you gotta work out a concept, then it's gotta be one that evokes a strong imagery and theme. And the Alluring/Tempting/Taking Melody/Siren/Breeze certainly could fit that paradigm very well imo.
Btw @yrsillar is this kind of Narrative -As-Concept something viable for a Cultivator to spec into? Because the reference to having the wind carry environmental hazards is more or less how I'd imagine Ling Qis archery or allies or other offensive options manifesting within it.

On a purely unrelated note.

Fleeting Zephyr's capstone Technique is so wonderful.

Gravity-kun has returned to be our friend once more! We once more have the strongest force of nature as our keen ally, desirous of the blood and bone of those too foolish to watch where they step!

Right now if something gets stolen I would think that most people would blame us even if they can't prove it was us. Which is why I am so concerned about the favor we will be doing.

And if Ling Qi is the first place theyll look, that's where any such divination or Captain Hindsight arrays would be turned towards. So rather than betting on the idea of being unnoticed, I'd rather bank on the idea of being Unseeable when it turns out some chucklefuck randomly made an array that fingers would be thieves after the fact for retaliation.

Because that's what would fuck us over here. We can rely on Ling Qis stealth to get in, but it's better to throw sand into the eyes of any one trying to apply more esoteric methods of investigation if we can afford it imo.

Escape Talismans
As consumables, the following items do not take up an accessory slot.

Soaring Charm: A woven bracelet with the shape of a bird picked out among its threads in jade. Upon being broken, transports the user up to half a kilometer in any direction. Landing accuracy improved by knowledge of destination, injury may occur if user is unfamiliar with target location. 300 Red Stones

Black-White Orb: A clay sphere that fits in the palm of one's hand painted half black and half white. Upon being crushed, transports the user up to one kilometer in any direction. User buffered from harmful landings. 500 Red Stones

Scarlet Thread: A length of formation inscribed cord meant to be worn around the wrist. Upon breaking, the user is transported up to one kilometer in any direction, and gains a two success bonus to stealth against all attempts to perceive them, remote or otherwise, for one hour. User buffered from harmful landings. 800 Red Stones

Cool gear. Does "transport" here mean teleporting or super fast flight or what? Also, are the talismans equal in their ability to actually execute the transport function? I ask because the Soaring Charm seems flight-based while the Black-White Orb seems a little more conceptual.

Can we get a minor to ask Fatty about high end pills? I'm not sure what all our letter of introduction covered but I assume he likes making money.

Teleporting as we've established. You activate the Talisman and then you're somewhere else the next you know.

It means teleportation. Basically the same principle as what Huang Da did when he escaped our wrath or what we did when we escaped Sun Liling.

Given where our perception was at the time of the Huang Da confrontation his talisman didn't necessarily teleport. I just want to confirm that a "Soaring Charm" with a bird motif that talks about taking damage from landing is not a flight charm.

I'd also be willing to spend more if the more expensive charms are more likely to punch through anti-teleport formations.

Yes, this is expensive, it also basically removes remote viewing as a tool for our rivals when we're doing things we'd most prefer for there to be no witnesses to.

And what is money but something to be used to seize advantage and security?
Can you explain what's with all the consumables? The accessories and escape talismans are solid investments but the consumables I can only see us using when trying to run and we realise they're tracking us but don't want to waste the escape talisman yet.

We can arguably use a consumable after a heist we failed or some such, but we don't need more than one anyway.

Because orders like this tend to require actions, and I'd rather have a reserve for the foreseeable future rather than spend more actions later?
