AM is a combat art though. And yes, that's exactly the kind of reason why training AM with Su Ling or Meizhen makes sense.Well, I think using AM to pierce Su Ling's illusions should be valid training, but I see your point in general.

...Honestly, I kind of wish instead of going off to play music with like one other person in the audience Ling Qi would just go play music in the common square or whatever where everybody could enjoy it. Thus inspiring horrific paranoia in those who have done her wrong, and maybe actually causing the normal Outer Sect kids who have been busting their butts for the last few months to have a good time for once.
Tbh, my opinion is that now that Ling Qi is no longer a noob, and basic advice doesn't do much anymore, we should only be able to train actual combat arts with our friends.
I don't see much reason why doing basic cultivation with them would help much, or how they'd be able to help us with things like EPC. The exception would be Suyin with meridians because of her knowledge of our body from all her poking.
I seem to recall that yrsillar has said that most of our friends besides Meizhen find it a bit weird and potentially excessive. Or something like that.Do we have a sense for how Ling Qi's training regimen compares to the other high ranking acolytes? We know that Su Ling thinks she spends a ridiculous amount on drugs and crystals every week, but do we know how her expenditures stack up against what somebody like Han Jian is doing?
That would be a minor(s)?I really like how the leading plan this week has us touching base with all our friends. Although, can we add in a free [] talk to all our friends about the vassalage thing, see what they think about it?
I think it's only polite to give everyone a headsup, and I'd like to hear all our friends' opinions on it, even if it's probably only Golden Fields and Meizhen that can comment on it meaningfully.
Well, I have something of an insight into the "music" element based on the fluff surrounding the event that had us acquire it.Since we have a special element of music now I feel the need to explore this element. What can it do what are the advantages?
I think @yrsillar missed it, but we should have the option of making a few of the bone scouts without an action. Should probably do that.
@yrsillar Does this give us access to a new cultivation site? I ask this because it seems to have Wind bonuses.
Won't work - we won't have any overflow for FZ because we'll have the spare heart meridians for FZ4 (just not to equip it).
So yeah, meridian week 32 is good - and if we don't do a job this week, we should do it next.
That sets up for Eightfold week 33, and we'll have the meridians to equip everything.
Nice of @yrsillar to let us get that spine meridian with overflow... It is kind of gaming the system tbh given that it allows us to essentially remove the risk from meridian opening actions. I'd be tempted to suggest that the mechanics should really be modified there so that if we are allowed to do this, we should have to do something like "gamble" the overflow. So if, say, we don't get enough overflow on the art we specified to open the meridian we lose it instead of being able to just send it on to qi regardless. That way there'd still be some risk.
So, does anyone know when the qi recharge for AE actually occurs?
@yrsillar does it occur when an enemy receives a wound to their health or does it occur when an enemy gets damaged by an attack?
[X] Plan Find Meridians
Not completely certain we should do Sun Liling scouting, but it could be needed and this has all the minors I want.
It also gets AM4, which is of significant help for scouting.
Deepwood vitality or TRF are very powerful for the worms, I think. makes sure they can last a full turn at the very least. Also, keep in mind that AE1 is mid yellow. it probably caps at AE3 for yellow, meaning it will get significantly more powerful by the time it's capped for yellow.
@yrsillar, offensive/defensive attributes means 'dex', or does it means 'dex + unarmed'?
@yrsillar: So, I don't know if you were ever asked this, but if we had rolled to respond really well when Meizhen kissed us, would it have meant we handled it better, or could it have meant the feelings were reciprocated? Asking mostly to punish myself, if it were the latter, even if I suspect it is the former.
While I suspect Ling Qi is strictly hetero, I struggle to understand it as, while I am more to the heterosexual side of it, I'm actually demisexual. So, for me, the relationship is far more important than the gender for attraction. If I had a close friend that was male who was in love with me, I could return the feelings more than with a physically attractive woman that I didn't know well.
Again, not sure if this is something that has been asked and answered that I just missed among the many thread posts. If it was previously answered, sorry to repeat the question. It's just something I have wondered for a while that I finally decided I would rather know than continue to wonder. (It doesn't help that, as the person that Ling Qi was closest to for so long, I'm getting jealous of how close Meizhen is getting to Cai on Ling Qi's behalf. )
1. already answered. Stacking bonus can get to five in one turn if enough people are hit, and counts stuff like dissonance. It decays after the next turn though, so you need to keep hitting people to keep it.So, I've got a lot of new things to work into my simulations...
@yrsillar a few questions on AE and Breath:
- As has already been asked, what exactly are the conditions for AE's qi recovery and the stacking bonus?
- What are our dice on AE? What stat do we use? Is there any mastery that applies? How do spiritual attacks work dicewise if they aren't using weapons?
- To check: Breath lasts for 4 turns total? Initial attack - tick 1 - tick 2 - tick 3?
- Do Breath's ticks count as an attack since there is a clash there? Would they add a multi-attacker debuff and increase Encircling Winds' buff?
- So the worm's dicepool is dex + 5 + tech? So 14 total? Or are they using another stat?
- Based on the descriptions, my guess would be that Breath interrupts playing, but that Crawling Horror doesn't... Is this correct?
- I assume the armor degradation is durability loss? Because I could also read that as a debuff to armor value.
I don't think that's right actually.
CG only gives us tech dice on the first turn because it's actually a just a buff. It doesn't proc clashes on its own, but we can cast it as a defensive technique, in which case it adds tech dice to our current defensive roll.
After that though, it's just around as a buff - not a technique 'being used'.
Dissonance and AE however are techniques that are actively procing clashes on the enemy. From reading the mechanics section, I would assume that their tech dice would apply.
@yrsillar ?
@yrsillar how does the sound attack from FVM work, exactly? Is it procced from ANY art that we use, as long as we're within 10 meters? Or is it any art that procs an offensive clash?
Even if it's the latter, that still means a large portion of our arts ALSO procs bonus damage from FVM, making us the DPS KING.
@Arkeus
You know what, I'm just going to put this whole thing to bed. @yrsillar does taking these three minor actions:
--[] Minor: You need to speak with Meizhen, about Cai's offer and the future in general
-[] Minor: Find the time for a chat with Guangli, even if he is biased, he's probably the one who knows Cai best
-[] Minor: Spend some time around Cai Renxiang, what does she actually do all day
Somehow overload Ling Qi or give her a penalty to learning about CRX?
Hmm.Rather, it forgoes the need for such things by directly affecting the world through itself.
Thanks for the answers! I wish you luck on your epic quest!
A few elements:I don't see the point of Suling music minor. We just caped FVM, what is it going to help with beyond Social Link ?
Worth noting that our strong Darkness element probably reinforced it a bit. That was not okay. That hurt, actually, reading it. For all Ling Qi has resolved to never be so alone again, that loneliness is integral to her personality and mental/spiritual integrity. Ow.
Plus, I'm very interested in how the Music meridian would influence her personality. It's something to do with emotions and expressing yourself after all.Holy shit, these are amazing. Music Special Element means that anti-Thunder defenses don't work on Ling Qi's music arts, which is godly because music arts aren't popular and very little people are going to bother specifically getting defenses against music when they could get defenses against Thunder and (regular) music both. Especially since Ling Qi doesn't even have to turn regular music arts into using Music element to get the benefits: she just needs to keep FVM, one of her best arts, always equipped.
Meizhen: "Ling Qi, did you HAVE to use worms like in those lurid and most inappropriate novels?"Eww, Meizhan must hate the worms; she's a pure maiden that can't be touched by the filth of base earth!
Sounds rather like a Spirit of Inspiration?I wonder what Gu Xiulan is going to work Linhuo into, though? As a Heaven Spark Fairy, she is a fire-starter at heart, but Xiulan's using her as a fire-eater now. Furthermore, Xiulan wants a boon companion, who will stay by her side always (see: Han Jian, Ling Qi in Xiulan's interlude), and one who will fulfill her ambitions of dominating her home power structure. We see that in how Linhuo encouraged Xiulan to complete her tribulation, so I suppose Linhuo will develop into an enabler-type personality?
I suspect rolling better would have involved signaling Meizhen before she moves in for the kill that she's not good with surprise intimacy.@yrsillar: So, I don't know if you were ever asked this, but if we had rolled to respond really well when Meizhen kissed us, would it have meant we handled it better, or could it have meant the feelings were reciprocated? As far as I can tell it works with any musical, generic ranged arts, or weapon agnostic art. It's not procced from arts. It's a weapon attack, and can be used with any weapon tech that works with musical arts.
At the moment, we have none.
Being left carrying the bag when/if the elder Cai ascends and leaves just the one daughter to be her house.Honestly, the option to be a vassal to CRX, since vassalhood seems inevitable, is so good it sets off my game-balance alarms. But maybe the advantages are just offset by equally stronger enemies?
I seem to recall that yrsillar has said that most of our friends besides Meizhen find it a bit weird and potentially excessive. Or something like that.
Meizhen just think its normal.
Thanks. No, that mechanic is for doubling up on cultivation. It might affect how Ling Qi behaves a bit though, since it shows that she's pretty worked up about it.
Ling Qi: "I knew those novels Xuan Shi was reading must have some techniques in them! Where can I get more?"Meizhen: "Ling Qi, did you HAVE to use worms like in those lurid and most inappropriate novels?"
HYPE!!!
Alas, nothing is ever that simple. The Han Jian action is to acquire Argent Storm, an Argent art that may or may not be decent. The reason to get it this week is so we know what meridians we need to open next week, in order to train it the week after. So why do people want to meet with Han Jian? I get the music and the shaman bag, but the HJ action seems like it could be switched to the Cai action and make everyone happy
Mei isn't as upset about this as she pretendsLing Qi: "I knew those novels Xuan Shi was reading must have some techniques in them! I need read as many of them as possible!"
