Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

Finally got caught up! Unfortunately, now I have to wait a week or two between chapters like everyone else...

Somer's Rock is going to be fun, can't wait to see how everyone will react to Apeiron walking in with his crew. Plus, a lot more groups are in play in BB than were in canon at this point. Uppercrust will be there ostensibly representing the Elite, and I'd be surprised if Accord doesn't at least send an Ambassador. As for who Apeiron will bring, I imagine Lethe will have mixed feeling about tagging along, as she knows that Grue will be present.

In the long run, Somer's Rock will probably matter a lot less than the repair that happened at the end of this chapter. Assuming that the motoroid did end up in Shardspace, that's going to be huge for figuring out the deal with Zion, and maybe even getting rid of the golden man entirely. I'm not exactly sure how that would work though, I haven't read Ward yet.

whether what is shard space? his Noble Phantasm's power? why would it be?
The current location of the motoroid:
'Now Fleet, tell me. Where exactly did the motoroid repair itself?"

Maybe? as he avoided death a lot maybe he is fated to not die yet. or maybe there is no fate involved and he just survived a series of unfortunate events. defying fate sounds cool but without knowing what one's fate is it's of questionable use. what if for example you were fated to live a long a happy life but you defied it and died young and sad? what does defying fate at 10 times the normal rate even look like? is probability fate? other than precogs(maybe) is there anything that counts as fate in worm?
Sorry if someone else has replied, I'm catching up right now. Here's my understanding: Luck is a finite pool for normal people (ie not Servants/Heroic Spirits). Every time you defy "fate," aka survive something that should've killed you, you do so by drawing on your Luck. That's all it is, a survival mechanism. For example, a piece of the roof of a building falls, and nearly hits you in the head, but barely misses. If it was "supposed" to have killed you, your Luck is what would've let you live.

Now, by "should have killed you," that takes into account your personal abilities, so if through training or even just paying more attention you overcome the situation on your own, it either took less or no Luck to do so. Effort still matters, Luck is just that wild card that can nudge you just that little but further when your own efforts aren't enough.

Heroes are often people who "did the impossible," that's why even at E their luck stat is far beyond what a normal person has.

Someone like King Arthur, someone who was in an virtually impossible situation to deal with (infighting between nobles, food crisis because their farming was based on Mystery that was fading, dealing with external threats of the magical kind (giants, dragons, etc), and trying to herd cats in the form if managing the crazy strong and flat out crazy people know as the members of the Round Table), yet still accomplishing amazing feats and letting her people not just survive but thrive for over a decade, gets an A Rank in luck.

Someone like Cu Chulain, on the other hand, never actually overturned any prophecies about him. He was forced to fight and kill his best friend because they were on opposite sides of the war, and his own actions resulted in him fighting and killing what he only realised afterwards was his son. Due to his enemies' trickery, he broke a lot of his oaths (geas) and was weakened to the point he was eventually killed. Despite that, he still accomplished great feats and defended his kindgom valiantly. He has Rank E luck.

Wow, that description of Joe's Servant class and Noble Phantasm had me shook. Excellent description and really drives home that Servants are legends. The capes of this world claim names like Hero and Legend. Apeiron will remind them what they aspire to be.

Also, this is highly munchkinizable. If/when Joe gets the Magitek Mastery perk he can Infuse himself with magic from the Servant system and enable himself to increase those E ranks all the way up to A++ over time. These are also his *base* abilities now, meaning every other perk that increases these now treats his Servant stats as the floor from which to raise up. Does this mean with his mini Kaiju body increasing his strength by 20x, he is now at least 200x stronger...? Or would it be 30x?

About the gender issue, the mods have already spoken and I'm getting a bit tired of this back and forth. I'm a trans woman myself but I'm here to read BCF, talk about BCF, and generally obsess over BCF.

Joe showing up to Somer's Rock with his team implies on some level that they'll need a team-name, right? Anyone have any cool ones? My money's on some variant of Olympus, Olympians, etc. in keeping with Apeiron's ancient-greek theme. Also because it allows Joe to name his volcano base "Mount Olympus" which is fuckin rad.
I love the idea of going with the Olympians.
In the long run, Somer's Rock will probably matter a lot less than the repair that happened at the end of this chapter. The big repair for most people I think will be the fact that all the dust is gone, and perhaps all the M particles too? Not sure. Joe told the PRT he would need to mobilize a lot of drones to get rid of all that stuff, but it just suddenly vanished! Exactly 48:00:00 hours after they were released. So I imagine the Motoroid came back first, then the Dust disappeared, then the M Particles if they did disappear. Shardspace Knight Fleet will be amazing, but mostly just for Data Gathering Purposes, since the [DATA] will let Joe do all sorts of super-science shit.
Then again, Joe is about to confirm that Apeiron is part of a team of capes at Somer's Rock, and as LR has been saying, it's shaping up to be the season finale. It's setting up all the conflicts going forward, and since Joe isn't just gonna get talked down to by Nazis, I'm kinda excited. I doubt Joe is gonna claim territory, but if he wants to prevent a powergrab he may have to, in effect, "claim" the ABB's old territory, "handing it over" to the PRT at a later date, if Director Piggot accepts.

Same. I wish people would stop bringing up the issue, and get back to the cult book club activities we're all here for! Mods have already made their ruling, discussing it does nothing.

Tinker: Reverse Engineering is far superior.
With time and effort it can surpass everything the other Shard Powers can do and was purpose made to compliment other Perks.
Very Much True.
Unfortunatley only M/E was included in V1. Later Versions include the others, although I don't know if they included Bonesaw's Tinker Power.

The noise generator will be useless once the therapist spends X time away from it, where X is the amount of time its effects extend into the past and future. It'll be trivial for the Simurgh or some power like PtV to read his mind and get everything that Apeiron said.
That's what the tie clip is for.
what is shard space?
It's a dimension of sorts collaboratively built by the passengers that allows for weird power shenanigans. It's prominent in Ward the sequel to Worm.
I doubt it. Joe didn't speak like it was a possibility in the discussion in a previous chapter and Lord's previous comments indicate that refueling is not included in the workshop repair fiat.

As for team name why not Celestial Forge?

Fair. Although M Particles aren't fuel, but rather a side-product. In fact I expected them to disappear while the Dust stayed, since that was fuel for the Dust Weaving.

Maybe Celestial Forgers? Celestial Smiths? IDK. Olympians fits the Vibes, but then again to Joe that might be like going with Jesus's Angels, seeing as he not only has perfect Ancient Greek language, but also Ancient Greek culture and religion in his mind.

I can't wait to squee as well. I do hope LordR decides against making Tetra into a Kamui eventually like he has stated before. I rather her remain independent and eventually get a humanoid form factor. Joe does not need super clothes at this point or in the future more than a Tetra being independent and mobile.
That idea was because Tetra wanted something like that. She likes being bonded with him in a fight, and was sad that that wouldn't work the same anymore.

Class name Crafter. Really, I was barely more than a wraith. A scattered legend held loosely around whatever aspects of my own powers had connected with this particular source. As a Heroic Spirit I was among the weakest existences possible, but that didn't change the fact that I was a Heroic Spirit. I had been summoned from the Throne and I was a hero.

That makes little sense. A simple Nursery Rhyme became one of the most powerful Heroic Spirits. An amalgamation of All of the World Evils became something more than a mere Spirit.
I think, Legendary Crafter should be among the best. Especially considering how it's an amalgamation of All of the World Craft(er)s.

Something to keep in mind about the Noble Phantasm is that it probably won't be used in combat without the boost from an active Striker heavily reducing the incurred mana cost.

I was getting the feeling that it's more like Nameless on the Moon Cell. He's a representative of all the nameless crafters, just like Mumei is a representation of all the nameless heroes of justice the people looked up to. There other people who could've been the representative, they were each just chosen to be the "face" basically.

Joe doing all kind of Jojo poses on his chair while talking about his tragic family situation while Dr.Campbell is like: "Yes, yes, I'm listening".
Because it basically happened.
Also, imagine Joe in a tense situation feel a "pull" and being carried away in white flash. When he open his eyes he see Gremlin version on Gudako staring at him. "What?! She says, another trash tier servant instead of my waifu? To the second archive off you go!"

Or it had. At any earlier point I could have gotten swept up in that line of thinking. Diminish every action of my family down to its most inconsequential level, then take the impact it had on me as some kind of character flaw, evidence of personal weakness or worse, a tendency to over inflate minor issues out of some kind of selfishness. That was before my latest power. Before the Well of Urd.

Suffering fueled runecraft. The god Odin achieved that by spending nine days impaled by his spear while hanging from Yggdrasil. My own proficiency was nowhere near the level of a god, but it was there. I had enough suffering to perform the elementary aspects of runecraft, and I knew where it had come from.

The power, completely as a side effect, had allowed me to recognize suffering. I could look at a part of my life and answer my natural inclination to ask 'Was it really that bad?' with a simple 'Yes'. The circumstances of the situation, where the responsibility lay, or any other mitigating factor was secondary to that singular point. The suffering was real. I could hold on to that. Really, it was at a state where I couldn't ignore it. I really can't emphasize enough how important that was to me.
I think that this and the fact his friends agree that his family is toxic, is some of the best revelations Joe came to in this session. The first step of solving a problem is admitting there is a problem, and while your friends and therapist telling you there is a problem is one thing, getting a suffering based superpower that is fueled by your problem is another and it is very hard to deny.

Hopefully the next time his family calls he can hang up and block the number instead of enduring such an emotional beatdown.

Or, and hear me out here, he can use all his magic and skills and memory knowledge that are approaching the levels of conceptual bullshit, to create an artificial Penance Stare. Make them feel all the pain and suffering they put him through. Every. Last. Drop.

For the Rock, I'm expecting Joe, Garment (as his gloves), and Aisha. If he can built realistic looking bodies for Fleet and Survey (or thinks to) then perhaps them as well.

Just waiting for Lisa and the rest of the Undersiders to be like, "Umm.... where did they come from?" Even more so if Lisa picks up on Fleet and Survey's bodies not being natural.

Edit: Just had a fun thought. If he brings that white-noise maker to the meetup, and offers to the others to activate it for security reasons, would that do anything to Coil's shenanigans?

Yes, that is the Nasuverse for you. :V

I would rather not advocate revenge. That said, he could do that for some time (since the nature of memories perk) but it would be out of character as it would remind him of his original powerset before the Celestial Forge replaced it.

I just think think pretending they don't exist would be healthier for Joe. Leviathan comes or the SH9 or whatever, just don't even check on them and consider them dead to you, Joe. They are not your problem anymore. Any contact made for any reason would likely be toxic or turn toxic.

Let's not go into this discussion again please. You can look up WoG for why precog blocking powers won't work on Coil, but to sum it up, it's not being treated as precogniton. Make of that as you will.

I wonder if that's in scope for SSS. I feel like it probably is. That said it would do things if Coil sent a stand-in specifically it would prevent him from advising his stand-in in real time via radio. No precog shenanigans involved. Depending it might also mean precogs can't make any predictions about the meeting which would include Dinah and that would freak out Coil quite badly.

PRT: The Case 69 incident is unprecedented insight into the source of powers. It is classified at the highest levels.
Apeiron: Motoroid zipping around The Firmament and scanning everything.
