Yes? Hence Rei III having all parts of her soul, the Unit 00 part and the Rei II part

Rei II only had the part that went back to lilith, not the part that was stuck in Unit 00

Well assuming the above train of thought is correct, the Rei III would already be the complete soul (encompassing Lilith, Rei I's human soul that was trapped in Unit 00, and Rei II's human soul), so... the only thing that would happen is the compounding of Rei souls? (Rei III, IV, V, VI, etc.) I'm not sure how that would translate to behavior, though, as obviously none of the Reis remember about their past lives.

Now I've got horrible visons of how that went in my head:

Gendo: "So, Rei, I was listening to the old hag go on and on and on about some stupid crap last night, and I got so bored, I kissed her just to get her to stop talking! Man, that old hag is boring! So annoying!"
Rei I, smoking a cigarette: "I know! Such a bitch, amiright? One of these days I'm just gonna walk in and tell her 'Hey, old hag! Everyone thinks you're a bitch! Howdya like them apples?!' Hahahaha!"
Gendo: "Oh, man, you've gotta take a picture when you do that. The look on her face will be to die for! Hahahaha!"
 
Anyway, one knock-on effect I'm running with is Ritsuko being even more afraid of the Evas than she was in canon, now that she's seen Units-01 and -02 apparently responding to each other. She was already cautious around Unit-00. Now she's going to be wary of all of them, and be very, very glad of the binding armor they wear. Hmm... that might make her more cautious about the Unit-03 activation, too... ~plotting, plotting~
 
Why do you think Ritsuko has those nightmares? :p

Flip a coin: I work on Chapter 5, or I work on the climax of my other Eva fic today.

I've got a monster I've been working on for almost 2 years now, that I started my first tour in Afghanistan as a way to kill time.

A Throne of Bayonets is a really, really good, dark, post-3rd Impact fic that really captured the feeling of the series well. (It is also, alas, rather short, just 27k words.) But because this is Eva, it had a rather bleak ending with just the faintest flickers of hope. I thought Shinji and Asuka deserved a happier ending after all they'd been through (post-3rd Impact life managed to go even more downhill for them than before.), so I asked the author (who'd left sequel hooks, but never gotten back to it) if I could write a sequel that might give them one. They said 'sure, go for it', so I did. I didn't really have a plan when I started. I just said 'I'll write, and see where it goes.'

That was 220, 000 words ago. ^_^;;

I've gotten 95% of the way through what I've outlined, and I'm midway through writing the climax fight. I wanted to have it done before I posted any of it, though, so I have yet to put any of it up anywhere. I was working on it fairly steadily until this story jumped in front and demanded I write it. I wrote the first chapter as a one-shot to get the idea out of my head. Then people asked for more. So... here we are.

That one was my first attempt at writing fiction at all, so its a little rough in the first chapters, but I'm pretty happy with how it started flowing later. I might have a bit of editing to do to post it here, however, as there's a couple of NC-17 level scenes.

This is pretty much the weirdest thing I've read all day. What's worse now I have an unshakable mental image of Rei going "LOL Gendo, watch me call that bitch a bitch to her face. YOLO!"

Hey, don't they have a cross sync test coming up right now? Or did that already pass?
 
That's just past (Episode 14). The kiss was Episode 15, and Leliel 16. Next up in canon would be 17, "The Fourth Child", but my Chapter 5 will be in the gap between. So no 4th Child yet.

Damn, that would have been a nice way to explore Ritsuko's newfound fears.

Also, shaking it up a bit could have lovely results. Imagine Asuka and Shinji, in a plug together, pressed into each other in about as intimate situation as possible, and not being able to do anything about it because they're monitored by the entire bridge crew.
