Right, because horribly emotionally unstable teenagers fighting eldritch abominations in god-killing robots powered by the souls of said teenager's mothers isn't bad enough... let's make the pilots pre-schoolers.
Gendo! Stop trying to shove me into the giant Robot with Your dead Wife.
It's creepy, and her soul tastes like Synthetic Rubber, Angst, and Unsweetened Chocolate.

Commas, use them. Otherwise people won't think that it's the 'Unstable Teenagers in the god-killing robots.

That'd be the consignment to Unit-01 for all eternity, complicity in crimes against humanity, and separation from her beloved son respectively.
Also, you do know you're not actually tasting that stuff, right? It's just a wierd... let's call it psychological, quirk from the partially understood synchronization process that may or may not be Yui or the Eva unit attempting to absorb you mind, body, and soul.

To be fair, I don't see anywhere to place that comma that wouldn't completely mangle the sentence.

This is why computer scientists aren't always the biggest fans of natural language. Ambiguity leads to fun. Sometimes that fun is the Dwarf Fortress kind of fun. Which isn't very fun at all.

AND YOU HAVEN'T TOLD US WHO YET. GDI STRYP IT'S BEEN A MONTH NOW.
:D

Well I could tell you, but I could also just let it come up naturally at some point in the story to come. All I've done so far is show it wasn't Maya: She'd have known about Ritsuko's crash, not needed to be told. There's been some guesses that were close to target, some not. If anyone's really that desperate to know, PM me and I'll confirm or deny guesses.
I was wondering, but I want to be respectful about it... but what about Ritsuko's sexual orientation...
for, to me, in the anime it always came across as that 'The Incident' between Ritsuko and Misato was mostly (self-)exploratory, resulting in them both firmly convincing themselves that they are heterosexual after all ('Let's not ever speak of this again'), making Maya's crush on Ritsuko all the more naive and tragic.
Ritsuko was mostly in the "Relationship" with Gendo out of jealousy of Yui, this much is obvious to me, but... was professionalism and self-revulsion the only thing keeping herself distant from Maya, or did she perhaps find her cute underling nothing more than 'Just cute', without any inclination to initiate romance with her?

Geez, this is a difficult question to type both accurately and as respectful as such a subject deserves...
She never really shows one way or the other about Maya. It's ambiguous if that's because she didn't notice, didn't want to notice because she 'had someone' already, wasn't interested in getting involved with a subordinate, or just not into women. I took it as 'bi, but convincing herself she's only into Gendo' for story purposes here, as well as things like below.
I actually ran across someone who did some thoughtful analysis on Ritsuko's orientation, in comic form too no less. Sticking it under a spoiler tag for really freaking long image.
All credit goes to Shadowjack over on the rpg.net forums. He makes insight and creativity a habit.

Edit: My favorite bit from Shadowjack's analysis: "If the only reason a potential relationship doesn't work out is because no one said anything--what's more in the spirit of Evangelion than that? The entire series if a tragedy of missed moments and reclusive silences."
That's an aspect I hadn't considered so far, from an outside perspective. In-story, there's a few hints Ristuko might be bi, but only small ones. But out-of-story, it does make a decent amount of sense that she is, for just what Shadowjack cites: It's more tragic that way.

There's a fair amount of 'Word of God' level stuff in interviews with the Gainax staff that not only are Shinji and Asuka the 'Official Couple', they're deliberately designed to be perfect for each other... just so they can be kept apart by their own flaws. The missed perfect connection is a greater tragedy. If they were just two people who passed in the night, it doesn't stab nearly as deep as it does if they're a perfect match that fails to even begin. So it fits perfectly well that Ritsuko is bi, just to make the failure by silence with Maya hurt more. If she were solely straight, it wouldn't be as bad, just a one-sided crush on her sempai for Maya. If Ritsuko could have responded, though, and it failed to happen because people didn't communicate?

That's Eva.

I put Eldritch Horror in my title for a reason. While I do have problems telling the difference between certain types of Elastic substances, and variations of Cocao flavorings, I do know what angst tastes like.

I have also seen it played in fanfic that Rei has Yui genetic markers for appearance but also has several other people's DNA in the mix making her more a distant genetic cousin on his mother's side than a half-sister.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - making people plug their ears to keep the bullshit out since 1996.

Speaking of bullshit, tried to watch End of Evangelion today.

Again.

I got to roughly 1 hour and 5 minutes before having to switch it off (35 minutes more than my last attempt!). It was either that or throw the computer monitor through the window and scream at it for wasting my time.

Because bugger this bloody movie...

Meanwhile I just had my cousin binge through all of Rebuild, the TV Series, and EoE in under a week... and his mental capabilities are not only unaffected... he loved all of it, calling it a Masterpiece lol. I pointed him in our directed a couple days ago, so I expect him to eventually show up.

I just watched it today for the first time! I posted this over in the Anime Watching Thread:

Just finished End of Evangelion. I...I think I need to watch it again just to try to come to grips with it some more. It was good. Very good. I'm giving it a 9/10 right now. It was honestly a bit underwhelming because I had built it up to be something I was really afraid of watching, but..it was still good. I need to mull it over.

I'm certain that if you had gone in with no inkling whatsoever of what you were in for, your reaction would be different. The moment where Shinji saw what exactly the MP Evas had done to Asuka hit me especially hard. Dear god, that scream...
