They've got a lot of work to do, and only 5 minutes to do it in, unless they break out the external battery pylons that they used for Matarael.

Nah, they just have to have Rei telepathically contact one of the Godlike Reis from an alternate post-EOE Evaverse (heck, going by the "multiverse of infinitely diverse possibilities" theory, there is a Godlike Rei already watching this Evaverse out of curiosity), and have her use cosmic-level quantum magic to aid them.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone.
Dang it, Strunkriidiisk, I was saving that one to post on Christmas Eve! :anger:
Now I'm going to have to find another one.
Can some write an omake of this?
I might, since I'm stuck on the next A&T part. I tried working on it this morning while lying in bed, but all I got was a nighttime cuddle that turned into full bore jumping off the OT3 cliff when Rei and Asuka ended up face to face.

But yes, in case it wasn't explicit enough in the story, Rei is seeing the bonds between people with more than merely human eyes. It's easy for her to see how people truly feel about one another when she's got AT-Vision. So she doesn't need Misato admitting it out loud to see she and Kaji are seriously back together now. That's also part of why she doesn't mind just watching Shinji and Asuka's bond, instead of trying to become part of it. Just watching them is wonderful enough to her eyes.

Seeing some pretty obvious callbacks to ACoS right there, only this time Rei is the one doing it; Kinda wonderful what being reasonable can make for you, really. :p

You had to ruin it. Rei is over here in WAFFland with only the occasional pang of jealousy, and you had to make it weird.

Please do not pressure him. I do not want him to snap out of annoyance with the constant "JUST MAKE IT A SHINASUREI OT3 ALREADY" chanting... even if I did admit beforehand that I do want to see such an ending (and still do, but will respect the author's decision).

That said, @Strypgia, if you do an omake, would you consider my fan-mail idea for that?

That's the first I've said of it, and it was in response to the author writing (though not posting) an Asuka/Rei snip all on his own. It was also a joke.
Yeah, but the problem is that you're the just the newest in a seemingly endless stream of readers who ask the same question when they first start posting in this thread, and sometimes even long after they did so.

Indeed, just as Marq said. And I can't speak for everyone here, but I'm personally starting to find it exceedingly annoying.

Eh, don't worry about it, @BadRoad. I'm not bothered by it at all. I find it encouraging as a sign that I've done a good enough job to make the relationship not only plausible but something I almost have to actively restrain at this point. Compare the difference between Asuka and Rei's canon relationship to this. By the end of canon, Asuka is so hostile to Rei she physically attacks her when Rei tries to offer honest advice, and Rei has no idea how to deal with Asuka's anger but stand there and be slapped.

Here, Asuka is asking Shinji to hold her back from possibly exploding into violent anger on Rei's behalf at Ristuko over hurting someone she considers closer to her than anyone in the world but her lover, openly confesses to feeling love for Rei, and is willing to do almost anything to ensure Rei's safety and happiness, especially since she knows it's mutual! Pretty good for a character arc I never even planned for or expected, no?

In any case, if I cannot lash some sort of canon update together by Friday, I'll see about some omakes.

Then just do it already! If that is how they would behave IC then that's the way it is!
Let your characters behave as they would.
Or make a split here. So we can Choose our own story.

OT3 FTW!

ps. sorry if i sound
aggressive. just really excited about it, i guess.

Essentially this, regardless whatever route it ends up being.

If they do something, it should be because you, the author, think they *would* do such a thing. If you feel that it's more natural for Shinji and Asuka to want to remain exclusive with each other despite Rei loving them both (and them her), then do that. If you feel that it's more natural for them all to love each other equally despite initial awkwardness (and drama), then do that.

Personally speaking, I'd prefer the latter because it's so darn cute and adorable, but I'm hardly going to stop reading if it ends up being resolved (or not) in a different way ;)

Comedy Omake #20 - The Soul Connection
Can some write an omake of this?

It was strange to learn that others had no experience that matched her own. Rei was always aware of her unique status in the world, but having no other precedent than human beings to draw conclusions from, she always started with the assumption that she was like them. To learn how limited their understanding of the world was, how blind they were to the constructs of their very souls and the intricate beauty they created... It had been enlightening, to say the least.

From Misato to Kaji. From Hikari to Touji. From Shinji to Asuka and on to Rei herself, her eyes perceived the strands of gossamer reaching from person to person, connecting them, synchronizing them. Like gravity they pulled men and women into each other's orbits, pulling them in, sometimes even pushing them away, but never leaving them unmoved. And when they were together the information carried by the strands caused their lights to pulse together, filling the space with colorful energy that they could not see or feel.

But Rei could. She drew her hand through the wave of rainbow ether, marveling at the wake it created. Could others do this too? Or was this a property unique to her? After all, to perceive something is to interact with something. And if that something can be interacted with, then, perhaps, it can be manipulated. Rei could see love. Could Rei make love?

Would that not be the greatest gift to be given to humanity? The promotion of affection and kindness? The healing of the wounds in the hearts of men and in the heart of the world? The encouragement of souls to open themselves to one another, to understand and accept? If such a thing could be done, it was surely Rei's duty to be its harbinger into the world.

She passed through the radiant cloud immersing the school playground towards her new dear companion. Kensuke had been among the first to open himself to her. She saw, as he noticed her presence, how the strands connecting them grew stronger, their lights merging in a beautiful bud that simply awaited the right command to bloom into a flower that rivaled Shinji and Asuka's.

She tugged on the string that led to his heart.

Kensuke instantly dropped dead.

In the aftermath of the resulting screaming, crying, and general raising of unholy noise, it occurred to Rei that maybe that wasn't actually love she was seeing, and that maybe messing with things outside of human perception was indeed not a terribly smart thing to do.

"What the FUCK is going on here?"
