Shinji and Asuka rarely went out for fast food. Why would they? Barring Misato, they could make tastier and healthier food at home. If they were going to eat out, it'd have to be to someplace fancy. Or in this case an emergency.
"Stop giving me those dirty looks, I said I was sorry." Misato pleaded with her displeased passengers. It was her night to cook, and it went poorly. Really poorly. Like, setting the kitchen on fire poorly. To make up for the ruined lunch, Misato offered to drive them to an alternative while the burnt kitchen appliances were being replaced.
"In retrospect, I'm surprised it took this long to happen." Shinji mused.
"Grr.... That's the last time I'm gonna make Gurkensalat." Misato grumbled. Asuka's glare intensified and she puffed her cheeks in response.
The drive was mostly silent, an achievement considering Misato's recklessness usually got a rise from one of her tenants. Suddenly it pulled over and a came to a stop.
"We're here!" Misato cheered.
The pilots look out the window and saw a rather small restaurant.
"Borgar Queen?" Asuka read the restaurant's name as if in doubt. "Isn't that just Burger Ki-"
"Totality different!" Misato interrupted.
"Whatever... Come on Shinji, lets get inside and eat something. I'm to hungry to care right now." Wordlessly, shinji nodded, and the three exited Misato's car and headed inside. The interior was a cafe-like design painted with orange walls and subtle red highlights. It was almost exactly like Burger King how a fast-food restaurant was expected to look. The place wasn't that busy as there was only one person getting their order and the group were next in line. But the three were still caught of guard, because of who was serving the meals.
"Thank you for your order. Please come again!" A cheerful reply came from the blue haired cashier.
"Rei!?" The entire group cried.
"Oh, it's surprise to see you all." Rei nonchalantly replied.
"You work here?" Asuka asked.
"Yes I do. I have been working here for quite a while."
"Since when?"
"About 3 weeks after Shinji first arrived in Tokyo-3."
"And you never told us?"
"You never asked." Rei held a soft smile. "Any who, my shift is almost over so if you would like to talk we can do so then, in the mean time..." Rei shifts into a more neutral corporate pose. One clearly honed through years of experience. "... Welcome to Borgar Queen! What would you like to order?"
After a moment of stunned silence, Misato is the first to speak of the group.
"I'll have two number 9s..."
------------
(For the record, the picture of Rei is from one of the possible endings to Rei Ayanami Raising Project. The DS sequel that lets you raise Rei and Asuka. I haven't played it, but it does have an english translation.)
Misato and company were currently in the midst of watching their apartment complex burn to the ground, which wasn't too much of a loss as they were the only occupants of the entire block anyway. "So. Do we even have to ask how this happened?"
"I was literally pouring myself a pot of water. How does this even happen?!"
"Weren't you there?"
"Wark." Pen-Pen remarked, unamused.
"I didn't even get started with that; I was literally filling the pot with water, and it just caughtfire."
"Was the pot water?"
"Asuka, I know what water looks like."
In a rather anti-climatic fashion, the fire simply went out. "Wark."
"Yes, I know I'm lucky to have a pair of Gods to help me out, Pen-Pen."
"Surely you could've helped out as well, Pen-Pen." Pointed out Shinji. "Also being a god and all that."
"Wark."
Said gods returned to the group, Rei snuffing out a small flame on Kaworu's hair. "It will require renovation, but the rest of the complex is safe."
"Misato, did you modify your house in some way, in the past year or so?" Kaworu immediately queried.
To which she furrowed her brow. "Why'd you ask?"
"There is an additional set of plumbing installed in your house, which appeared to link up to a tank underneath the pavement of the carpark."
It took Misato a few seconds, but she eventually realised. "...Shit. I completely forgot about that."
"Forgot about what?"
"Remember when I got really into sake a few years ago? Well, I got a large tank of it plumbed into my house."
The four didn't have any words.
Kaworu's other had words, at least. "That's pretty fuckin' cool."
"You had alcohol running out of your taps and you didn't tell any of us?!"
"Only one tap." Misato clarified. "And you don't like sake anyway!"
"She could have replaced it with beer."
"Don't give her any ideas!"
"You were the one who got sake plumbed into the apartment!"
This sort of argument continued for a short while, as Shinji, the Nephilim, and the Penguin watched on.
"You know, that explains a lot about her cooking."
~ I've been archiving my old omake and I realised it's been a hot minute since my last one, so here you go
So that's where the pic of Asuka eating a borgar one of you had as your profile pic came from. Also, how in the blue hell did Rei learn to go full corporate with that smile without using it once?

To lawfully obtain a copy of Ayanami Raising Project, you'll need to look on eBay or similar, since the original was for Windows in 2001, then the Dreamcast in 2002, then an enhanced re-release (which added Asuka mode) for the PS2 in 2003, then a Nintendo DS port of the PS2 version in 2008.
Footnote: The Dreamcast version was apparently so heavily derived from the Windows version that it requires a mouse and (ideally) keyboard for comfortable play.
You just reminded me of Asuka playing the tree in a school play. I assume that is from RARP too, even though I remember the quality of the pic being rather similar to a photo of a magazine page taken from the 90s.
