Zero chance that she goes off and minds her own business. If she just wanted a peaceful life she'd have already done that.

A thought: Does the ribbon network just increase sensing range, or does it boost Sabrina's control radius too?

First instinct is to box her in, in case this is a rapid movement and/or attack attempt as opposed to a teleport. Second, if the network boosts control range as well, is to go for both of their gems and reel them in.

God, I'm gonna feel pretty bad about this in the end, aren't I.

Well, fuck it. We can talk more when she isn't a threat to the people we care for. Her backstory is no more tragic than Oriko's -- probably much less so, really.

Me voting:

[X] Fight Hijiri. Win. You can talk once she's not a threat.
-[X] Yank her gem immediately.
[X] Simultaneously: headshot Anri.
[X] After: telepathy to Pleiades, Hijiri, Mami, Sayaka: complain that nobody ever wants to just genuinely talk with you about their issues. How the fuck can you be so sure that nobody can do anything to help you, Hijiri? Just how fucking chuuni are you?

Mami tagged Hijiri with a ribbon a while ago.

Let's say Hijiri flies away. Will the Ribbon persist?

[ ] Shield yourself and Mami. Open the roof to let Hijiri go.
-[ ] Telepathy Hijiri: Just go. Don't hurt anybody. Don't steal anything. Go have your peaceful life. We'll deal with Niko.
[ ] If Hijiri does anything other than leaving, use Mami's ribbon for guidance and snipe her. Have someone retrieve her.

[X] Kaizuki

Believe in the cat that believes in you!

Its never wrong to hope that we can save her eventually, but some people aren't yet ready to be saved. We can't help her if she won't let us, so first we have to focus on making sure she sticks around to be helped and can't make it any worse. Just need to find a suitable timeout chair......

How would Madoka feel about

Yeah, no. We gave her extraordinary amounts of slack - enormously more than we did to Oriko or Kirika or Akiko - and she she insisted on hanging herself with it. I'm not particularly inclined to be charitable towards her at all at this point.

If we let her go, she won't leave Niko alone. She just won't. We have no reason to expect her to keep that end of any bargain.

Or, in other words -

[] No more words.
-[] She's still present. Her grief must still be present, even in this state. Apply an absolute lock on her grief's position.
--[] Combine with collapsing portions of the MoF around her into a containment sphere. If successful in preventing teleport, immediately gem her.

Guys, please don't fight Hijiri, we don't even know if she's going to attack us yet. The lightning-izing is Saki's signature fast travel.

The point about her running off to hurt Niko and company is a pertinent one, but we have time to say one more thing to her. If she does run, hunting her down is trivial.

She's not fighting us? News to me. You mean Anri Airi isn't going to fight us? You mean she's not with Anri?

Frankly, even if we don't fight Hijiri, I am alllllll over shooting Anri in the face. She told us Anri was a lunatic.

To put this in the most clear possible terms:

I no longer believe that it is possible to come to terms with Hijiri without a complete situation reset. She has been filed in my mental "gem until later" column. I have no patience for continued half-assed mid-fight pontificating that will mess with the current tactical situation.

If we act immediately, and appropriately, it might (might!) be possible to disable Hijiri before she can teleport away. Talking to her reduces this interval.

If she teleports away, we have to find her in this mess of a city, while dealing with Airi (who she will be supporting either covertly or overtly), while she's trying to hide from us. This will make it significantly more difficult in the short term for us to be able to shove enough therapy at her that she stops making incredibly stupid decisions.

On the off chance she manages to get away entirely, she becomes a long term impediment to our plans, because she's just doubled down on her fuckstupid revenge boner against Niko - the thing she wants "we can't give her".

So no. No. More. Talking.

Interrupt her teleport as efficiently as possible, then gem her as efficiently as possible. She can get therapy later, in an anti-magic box.

I'm honestly not fucking sure how much Airi and Hijiri are legitimately cooperating at this point, but by all accounts Hijiri looks like she's just going to run away right now regardless of whether or not she'll fuck with us later. I don't foresee "Hijiri and Airi try to kill us at the same time" right now.

If we gem Hijiri, I guarantee she will never, EVER open up to us, EVER again. Reminder that learning about the Pleiade's freezer is literally one of the main reasons she decided to kill all of them and not just Niko.

That's Hijiri's fucking fault. If she never opens up to us again because we prevented her from escaping, she deserves to be put in a freezer until we have the time and resources to forcibly sort her out.

We're long past the point of talking, now. No more fucking talking. We disable them now, sort them out later.

Given the themes going on in this quest, I can't see this as anything but the worst possible response we can act on right now.

Yeah, because talking endlessly at Akiko while she obviously set up an ambush for us and called in reinforcements was a great idea. It totally didn't result in us getting nearly ganked (and would have resulted in us getting ganked if Akiko hadn't stupidly underestimated how much of a threat we'd be once we recovered from the ambush).

Gemming her right now is literally the only logical and practical move. Nothing we say will sway her; she's already made up her mind. The only way we can possibly change that is to bargain with her/reason with her from a position of power, once it's clear that she has no chance of escape or getting outside help.

Furthermore, letting her get away here would be betraying our alliance with the Pleiades--we'd be letting a girl who's a major threat to them escape just because we didn't want to potentially upset her.

We have no way of subduing her or preventing her from escaping other than gemming her right here, right now.

[x] "I was also created by someone's wish. Please don't leave!"

This is unlikely to work but worth a shot.

I don't trust Hijiri. If she escapes, she's too big a threat.

I know this isn't exactly canon PMKM, but PMKM is an example of the murderous shit Hijiri can pull off.

I'd love to let Hijiri go, for her to appreciate the gesture and go live a happy life and not hurt or attack anyone again. I heavily doubt she'll see things that way.

.

I have low hopes for Anri. Oriko's the closest canon has to a Social guca. I'd ask her to help Social Anri; if she doesn't feel confident, I'd just Gem Anri for now.

Then we can re group, go home, put Hijiri someone where she can't escape, then reconnect her and try to talk.

[X] Gem Hijiri.

[X] Simultaneously:
-[X] Ask the Pleiades to pick up Hijiri. Explain she tried to escape.
-[X] Ask Mami to guard Hijiri until she's picked up.
-[X] Go face Anri alone.
-[X] Ask Oriko if she could talk Anri down, and what does she need in that case.

[X] Grief armor underlayer., and protect your Gem.

[X] If Oriko answered...
-[X] No: Gem Anri with extreme prejudice.
-[X] Yes: Try to comply if Oriko had any instructions, and buy time for her to arrive.
--[X] Potential actions (Anri):
---[X] Re-introduce yourself. Apologize for earlier.
---[X] Ask about her. Who is she; what does she want; why does she believe Kyuubey.
--[X] Ask Mami to provide sniper support, outside hearing range, just in case.

Okay, let me elaborate.

If we gem Hijiri, not only will she completely give up on us, but also herself. This is a girl who absolutely loses her mind at the mere implication that she's a puppet for people to play with and control, and she targets the Pleiades over the Freezer. Do you understand

Gemming girls is literally turning them into what she's afraid of being existentially. Dolls. Lifeless, human-shaped objects without even the free agency to think for themselves. You're telling her that even her mind can be turned off for not acting the way we want it to.

You're going to fucking destroy her worse than Kyubey ever could. You might as well just fill her Soul Gem with grief as a threat because that's basically what you're advocating we do. Don't fucking gem Hijiri or we have no business claiming to be here to Fix Everything. You're knowingly signing her death warrant after this post.

And I also want to remind everyone that this isn't PMKM Hijiri, and as much as a fuck as she has the potential, all she's actually done is break into Niko's home, harmlessly knock her out, and run off with a privacy device. Anything else was technically Airi, and if she wanted Niko dead she would absolutely 100% be dead. She had the chance.

When she saw us after her, she shot antimagic instead of any of her various murder-blasting spells and ran for her life like a snot-nosed, terrified child.

Hijiri has not shown any legitimately violent or murderous tendencies at all.

[jk] Grief up a lightning rod

[jk] Screw that: make a Grief Tesla Cannon. Fight fire with fire.
-[jk] Pull the trigger and start cackling: "Unlimited! Power!"

Alright, that's the last Star Wars reference I can think of in this situation. Redshirt Army, feel free to continue without me.
"Reads up to date"
Yeah, maybe not right now.

Keep in mind that if we let Hijiri go now, her plan is likely going to escalate beyond of what it was before. We don't need to gem her or anything, although it is a choice if needed, but letting her go is not a good option.

That being said, if we're going to hint to her of Sabrina's (maybe) origins, then we need to do it in a way that it doesn't make it seem like we're desperate for her to not leave. Saying "I was also created by a wish. Please don't leave!" makes it sound like Sabrina's doing whatever it takes to get the situation back under control. We need to say it in a way that makes her know that her status as being a wish creation doesn't validate what she's doing.

[X] "Do you think you're the only person here who was created by a wish to fulfill a purpose? You're not! I know your circumstances suck, I really do, but that's not a reason to make this situation worse when we're here to actually help you."

Something like this is what I'd personally go with, as it gets the point across without making it seem like Sabrina is going to be a doormat for the sake of getting Hijiri to do what she wants. If Hijiri doesn't listen and it comes to fighting, then we can gem her, but only then.

Changing my bandwagon to this until there's better wording, Jarringtoaster is absolutely right.

But also, still, for the love of God don't fucking gem Hijiri you will absolutely kill her.

If you want to talk, you need to either restrain her or let her go first.

[ ] Shield yourself and Mami; open the roof to let Hijiri go.
-[ ] Telepathy Hijiri: Tell her to just go. Apologize. You hoped things would've gone better; you were even excited to find someone like yourself at some point.
