Votecrafting ideas.

Stuff I'm putting in my vote:

[] Thank Madokami.

[] Leave Hijiri in the hugpile.
-[] Semi-smugly. What'd you tell her? As bad as Niko is at expressing it, Niko cares about her.
-[] Take a picture.

[] Ask Saki to toss you that Grief Seed so you can clear it out. Now that Yuuri's confirmed to have the Clear Seed, you want to minimize the chances of one of your allies fighting her at a disadvantage.

Things that I think need discussion:

[] Warn of infohazards

I maintain that this needs to happen in one form or another.

[] Make the case that Airi needs help

The issue here is - what is our case, and what do we explain? Whoever finds Yuuri will find out that she believes the Pleiades killed someone. Do we break that early so they're prepared, or as backup for "Don't listen to her, she's delusional and will say anything to break you"?

[] Confront Hijiri about her giving instructions to Airi

I think that we don't want to be this blatant. However, if someone can come up with good wording for it, I think that a subtle little thing to let her know that we know might be in order. Something like "[] You don't think that she'd tell Yuuri where you are or anything like that. Right, Hijiri?". We could probably guilt her hard right now, with what Niko just said. Or would it be better to let her stew for a while?

[] Thank Madokami.

[] Leave Hijiri in the hugpile.
-[] Help her out if she needs it.

[] Try to Clear Artz Kochen.

[] Privately, Kazumi, Mami.
-[] If you ever ask, ask them to let you deal with Airi in private. You can't explain, but something very bad might happen otherwise.

[] Privately, Hijiri.
-[] Show support for any progress she's made with her problems.
-[] Kindly; ask her to offer any information she's held back. It will only help her in the long run.
-[] If she's on the fence, share what you know (Oriko's visions).

[] Hijiri.
-[] Ask her to help searching for Airi.

[] Privately, Kazumi, Mami.
-[] If you ever ask, ask them to let you deal with Airi in private. You can't explain, but something very bad might happen otherwise.

Mami would be okay with that, I guess. She trusts us ( and maybe doesn't want any more hits in her sanity ).

But Kazumi might start asking questions a lot of us are uncomfortable with answering.
I don't say we Witchbomb her, Mami, us, anyone, right now, but we might need to elaborate.
Maybe "it involves Yuuri's death and is very traumatic"?
... I feel like a particularly dishonest lawyer.

Saki might have more than one grief seed on her.

Onmur's vote seems fine, maybe need to rephrase a touch towards /asking/ for the seed before we just yank an ocean of grief out of it (might distract from hugging? be interesting to see Hijiri react I suppose) , and do think theres ways to probe Kazumi for bomb-status without risk... but really, how could I not? :V

Um, people.
Just had a thought.
A fucking scary one.
Not the immediate concern, but
Please tell me I'm wrong:
Mami found out about Witchbomb. ( Episode 10 )
She went batshit insane instantly, because:
-Kyubey, the only friend she had, was manipulating her all the time ( we told her already. )
-Japanese cultural thingy about souls. ( we told her already. )
-Witchbomb.
This inspired her to kill herself and all her meguca friends, because they would inevitably become monsters and there's nothing she can do about it, so better quick and painless, than a horrible abomination, who will hunt people and other magical girls.

But. What if we find a solution to Witchbomb? De-witchification, that we're working on.
It still, in Mami's eyes, doesn't absolve her of the guilt of having recruited at least a two-digital number of magical girls. Many of them would have become Witches, and then given over to Incubators.
The reason for murder is gone
But the reason for suicide
Wat do?
Or tell me I'm wrong or something.

The reason for murder is gone
But the reason for suicide
...should be gone via Sabrina.

We keep giving her a reason to live. If she wants some sort of penance for all the girls she recruited, some ways to forgive herself, she can help us in
  1. Keeping existing meguca from witching out (via clear seeds/seed alternatives)
  2. Helping in our efforts/research in Dewitchification
  3. Spreading 1 & 2 in a global scale

Yeah, thanks.
I didn't want to start my day with a cup of fresh despair.

For the most part I agree with what Onmur has, though it is important Sabrina explicitly asks for Arzt Kochen/Yuuri (if necessary by claiming Kochen or all of Saki's Grief Seeds would be best for another Clear Seed). Sabrina should also make it clear to Hijiri if she needs help Sabrina will provide, don't want Sabrina removing her only to find out Hijiri is just bad at processing this. Sabrina should explain at least a little regarding why she wants to potentially handle Anri by herself, like being less intimidating the smaller the group. Sabrina could also first offer some knowledge herself to Hijiri, so the "If you're holding anything back" could instead be rephrased "Told you more about me, so tell me more about you".

On a similar line, Sabrina should ask Hijiri what exactly happened whether than asking Niko. I also think Sabrina should offer to let Hijiri come with her team, if she doesn't feel ready to hunt alongside the Pleiades. Regarding "Why we should help Anri", I still think a "Not So Different / One Bad Day" kind of approach would be the quickest to get everyone to empathize with Anri. Because, frankly, everyone there have all done pretty messed up things in other universes/timelines (I'm pretty sure Homura's Revenge!Sayaka straight up wanted to kill or at least seriously injure Homura). The whole Sendai mess really is similar to now though (girl loses close friend to other Magi putting her down, the discovery of which sends her into a rage wanting them to suffer or outright die in the name of vengeance).

Hmm... Maybe we should check with Kazumi if the Pleiades have been working on anything recently? Kyubey generally doesn't like it when Meguca try being problematic, so figuring out if Hijiri & Anri were spurred on by normal operating procedure or "yeah eliminate them please, they're trying to impede energy gain" might be relevant. Speaking of, straight up asking Kyubey to point out how a more efficient system could be made shouldn't be difficult. For one they're probably trying to improve efficiency anyways, and they must understand "Turning your citizens into feral monsters that could extinct your race" is the kind of thing that'll get emotional species to plot their demise.

[q] Thank Madokami out loud

Idle thought: Was Michiru giving up cleansing for the rest of the team a thing that only happened after she finds out about the witch thing, or because she is just a very self-sacrificing type of person? And is my memory correct in that she was already hiding how much grief she had? Or was that an omake?

[q] shout as loud as you can:
"Thanks, Mom! Uh, I mean, Momoka, er, Madoka. Madokami. Thanks!"

Yes, you remember correctly. As for why edit: ( she does it now, because, yeah, we've discussed Kazumi Magica canon )
Look upon this thread
Look upon it, and know torment
We don't know, so right now it's WMG territory.

She does it because of the Witchbomb, which is why I was worried she was already possibly bombed earlier when we first met her. It's just this is way too volatile of a situation to test if she is or not, and failure is disastrous.

There's a lot of things that we can wait to deal with until after Anri is dealt with

For one, just knowing the Arzt seed is around is enough. We don't need to do anything with it yet.

Since Anri wished to "Be Yuuri" which lets her flawlessly impersonate people, there's actually a good chance Anri could be feeling Yuuri's suffering. Be kind of awkward if Sabrina only cleared Yuuri's Seed afterward and discovered doing so literally makes Anri easier to deal with. Even if doing so doesn't literally calm her down, Sabrina would be sparing Yuuri significant pain and Anri would likely feel better knowing that. Plus, better to avoid a "Sorry, I was high on grief and Kyubey ate the Seed before I could reach you".

When I say "Try to clear Artz Kochen", I expect Sabrinapilot Firn to interpret that in a non-dumb light. :p

Asking for it is the logical thing, though we still probably should make an excuse, lest this become less of a quest and more of a straight up fanfic. Just not sure what excuse we're going with.

Making excuses about Airi might help; we can't really explain; problem is that if we make excuses, we'd end up lying and something might go wrong later. If we say we want to go there alone so as to not intimidate Airi, we'd need to then explain why we can't go with, say, Mami.

The honest thing is saying we can't explain, and trust. It works with Mami, and I'm hoping Mami's word will convince Kazumi.

EDIT: Also, I'm hoping someone else will start the votes this time around.

Okay, Onmur.
You're on.

[X] Thank Momokami.

[X] Gauge situation.
-[X] Offer Hijiri to help extract her from the hugpile only if the hugpile remains undisrupted afterwards.
--[X] We don't have a good phone. Ask Mami to take pictures instead.

[X] From here onwards, refer to Yuuri Witch only as ALL CAPS. At least, inside your head.
-[X] When ( if ) hugpile ends, ask Saki and Kazumi to clear ALL CAPS. Elaborate, that your knowledge and Grief Sense offer insight on the nature of the Witch. You heavily suspect that having this Seed specifically will be helpful.

[X] Privately, Hijiri:
-[X] Don't ask what happened. Unless Niko or Kanna decide to share, it's not your business.
-[X] Be supportive, remain hopeful that some progress was made.
-[X] Kindly ask to share any information she might've withheld: say that Airi is suffering, too, and you'd like to help her if you can.

146 words, used Onmur's template as, well, a template.
Edit: yeah, I know it's half shitposting and jokevotes.
Frankly, I expect someone more experienced than me to come and make something better out of this, so I'll have a bandwagon to strap on.
Or make their own vote, I guess. I'm rather serious about the second part, though. DO NOT DISRUPT TEH HUGPILE.

[X] Thank Madokami

[X] Gauge situation, offer to extract Hijiri if desired, delicately remove if so
-[X] Privately, politely offer to listen if Hijiri wants to explain what happened
-[X] Regardless, be supportive and hopeful

[X] Ask Saki for her Grief Seeds, explain you were examining all of them with intention to make another Clear Seed
-[X] Cleanse Arzt Kochen

[X] Explain to everyone why you want to save Anri: Though you've never felt pain like her, you know how easily anyone could end up like her. You're honestly not sure how you'd handle losing one of your friends, but you do know you'd want someone there to help you.

[X] Privately, Kazumi & Mami: Later on, you might ask to talk with Anri privately. You don't want to upset her, nor to let her upset them.

[X] Offer for Hijiri to search with you, she knows Anri best and you're committed to saving Anri.

I do call Dokashenanigans on the Seed being around.

Kazumi said she met Airi months ago.
Two possibilities occur: First, Asuka Yuuri did remain a magical girl long enough to save a number of people and fight multiple witches. She might have just witched out sometime last week. Which could explain Oriko's certainty of her death if she saw it happen with little warning or the immediate result. (Though it's notable that discussion of Asuka could also do so.)

Even so, I'd think Oriko at that point would have warned us if she'd had a chance to do so. (Though we didn't initially show her Anri, Asuka, or Hijiri, just the Saints and the Sojous.)

Alternatively, it's possible a familiar got away during the Saint's fight with her, especially if they were rushing to save people or similar.

After all, Asuka did witch out, if not in, than at least quite near an eating contest. Depending on the exact timing and circumstances she could easily have drawn people in with her. Though one imagines that requires and implies not only that she was defeated very shortly after hatching but also that a magical girl from the saint was either near enough to be pulled in with her, or outright saw her witch out.

... And Kazumi does love food.

Make a clear seed, then, when we're handing it back, hesitate and say something like "Um. This is going to sound weird. Hang on to that one? I, uh, want to try to talk to that witch at some point."
I'm slightly wary of making a clear seed with the intention of dewitching later (at least, more than we have to) when we don't know what the potential pitfalls of the process are.

Since Anri wished to "Be Yuuri" which lets her flawlessly impersonate people, there's actually a good chance Anri could be feeling Yuuri's suffering.

You keep bringing this up, but I guarantee this is not the case. Sabrina almost feeling a Witch's pain almost filled up her Soul Gem instantly. It turns out when you feel grief it creates grief, and Airi can function as a Magical Girl.

Wishes work by giving abilities based on wording and/or intent, and Wishes for even non-Madokas can still easily create things ex nihilo. In addition, for Magical Girls like Sayaka, their powers are disproportionately strong compared to their Wish (aka "Heal one hand" equals "Heal anyone at all super fast"). Thus if Anri does have a connection her powers would handle it. Plus it would explain how she's still raging so much... But I also acknowledge there's no way to confirm prior to encountering her. So overall, it would make sense but even if that isn't true Yuuri would still be secure & spared her suffering.

It is entirely possible that Yuuri's Seed has been in possession of the Pleiades for a while, and simple has been passed over when using Seeds for cleansing due to random chance. In that case, I call Dokashenanigans on those chances coming to be.

The shortage of Seeds, though, would make this possibility rather minuscule.

It's a pity the timeline of Kazumi Magica is so hazy.

All I can say is that it was after Michiru's witch out, but the time in between then an canon is long enough for the Saints to make 13 Kazumi clones, one after the other failed.

Also, since I'm here, two things to comment. I realized earlier that I didn't remember the part of the manga where Kazumi saves Yuuri, which was referenced earlier in PMAS.

I found this was part of a two page special, and I can't find it anywhere.

The other thing is something... uh, silly.

There's some points where the Pleiades are shown to pose, or do something as group solely for the purpose of looking cool in page, even if it doesn't really make sense in story.

Of those moments, the time they save Airi from Yuuri's witch takes the cake.

Yes, it is exactly as you would expect...

The Pleiades come flying in riding huge fucking arrows which stab the Witch all over. Well, actually, barring some sillier magics, Umika couldn't have flied in on the thing, since she's on the side of the arrow that's pierced through.

Can you just imagine how this scene came to be?

Like:

One Airi Anri, worried about her friend, Asuka Yuuri, who had failed to appear at a contest she was expected in, walked around the Barrier she found herself in while searching for her.

"Yuuri, please reply..." she muttered to herself as she once more tried to contact her friend on the phone.

When suddenly a sizzling sound behind her caused to turn around-

"Wah!?"

Airi's startled yell was lost on the gigantic needle which attacked her...!

A staccatto of piercing sounds - in front of Airi's disbelieving eyes, a series of enormous arrows flew in to stab the syringe monster from all sides.

What was more, a group of girls had arrived, either riding or carrying the arrows in some fashion.

As the monster died-

Wait, back up.

Let's look behind scenes.

"Come on!" yelled Saki to the rest of the group. "We need to save that girl before the Witch kills her!"

"Hold it!" called the fluffy haired Mirai. "We can't just go in and save her!" At her friends' inquisitive stares, she elaborated. "We need to do it in style," she explained, "it's what Kazumi would have wanted."

The other five girls looked at each other, a shadow flickering through their eyes.

"You're right," said Kaoru. "That would be Kazumi's will."

"Well, we should hurry up," said Umika, pointing, "before the Witch kills the girl."

The rest of the Saints startled and looked where their friend pointed, and surely, the Witch could be seen, slowly stalking after the lost girl, who was too busy staring at her phone to notice it.

"Ah-ah, what do we do, nyan?!" yelled Satomi.

Umika frowned. "We could maybe cast a joint magic spell?"

"We did that last time," Saki shook her head.

"We could all use our finisher attacks, one after the other!" proposed Kaoru.

"The Witch would die before we finish showing off," denied Saki once again.

A snap of fingers brough the group's attention to Niko, the blonde having observed silently until then.

"I got it!" she said with enthusiasm that wasn't common in her, "we can shoot six giant arrows at the Witch-"

"-And ride them until they hit the Witch!?" Mirai finished the thought. Somehow.

"Yeah!" nodded Niko, smiling softly.

The rest of the Pleiades stared, considering the idea for a moment.

"Hell yes, that sounds awesome!" agreed Kaoru, followed by a series of exclamations and nods from all the other girls.

Immediately, they got to work.

"Can you make the arrows?" asked Saki, to which Niko nodded. "Good, we need-"

"To hurry up," intejected Satomi, "the girl's got around thirty seconds before the Witch fillets her."

"I don't think that's the right word," frowned Umika.

"Ah!" yelled Kaoru, hitting her fist against her palm. "Someone needs to protect the girl!"

"Great, thanks for volunteering, Kaoru," nodded Saki, causing Kaoru's shoulders to slump a little, "that means we need one less arrow. How's that going, Niko?"

"I got two down," the blonde muttered, making gestures with her hands; the ground under her feet peeled apart and followed her movements, coalescing into a long, cilindrical shape, which slowly became a gigantic arrow's shaft.

"Well, hurry up!" insisted Kaoru. "The Witch's almost on the girl!"

"I'm working as fast as I can!" protested Niko.

"Well, work faster!" yelled the orange haired girl, looking back and forth between the lost girl and her friend.

Niko frowned, eyes not leaving her work. "Do you know how hard is to make these things aerodynamic!?" she countered as she finished another one of the arrows.

"It was your idea!"

"That doesn't make this easier!"

"We don't have much time," interruped Saki, "if you can't do it, Niko, we'll have to do something else."

"No, no!" the science-girl shook her head, "I got this!"

"M-maybe we should skip the threatics..." muttered Satomi, watching as the Witch approached the unknown girl.

"Shut the hell up, I got this!" The Pleiades startled at Niko's uncharasteristically emotional retort.

Then as one, bits and pieces of the Barrier came loose and drifted up to her hands, quickly taking the shape of two more of the arrows; she passed one to Mirai, the others being picked up by the other girls, sans Kaoru.

"OK, we're ready!" said Saki.

"The girl's about to die," commented Umika.

"You'll be directing the arrows!" yelled Saki to Niko, who nodded curtly with a "right!".

The girls quickly posed while holding onto the their respective projectiles. "Should we say a witty one line-" Satomi started to ask, to be interruped by Saki once more.

"No time!"

And indeed, the lost girl was turning around, a startled, fearful exclamation escaping her lips as she beheld the Syringe Witch.

"Niko, shoot!"

Wasting no more time, the blonde snapped her hands out-

The giant arrows leaped into the air fast, each of the Pleiades -sans Kaoru, who too a huge leap herself- holding on for dear life.

In a matter of a second, and in defiance to physics, the magical girls adjusted their positions mid flight; Saki held onto her arrow with just one hand, her feet pointed to land on the Witch; Mirai hugged onto hers, perilously close to the pointy tip; Satomi crouched on her arrow's fletching like a cat; Niko lied down on hers, striking a pose; Umika simply chose to sit on hers.

Then, as Kaoru landed in front of the lost girl, holding her protectively in an embrace, the other five Pleiades arrived in their enormous projectiles, turning the Witch into a pincushion.

The Witch died instantly, a plethora of sizzling and cracking sounds signaling her Barrier breaking down, being drawn into a Seed.

'OK everyone, play it cool,' instructed Saki through telepathy.

The Pleiades, slightly shaking with excitement, did their best to look aloof. Someone, they weren't sure who, said some comforting words to the scared almost-victim, who said something nobody really caught.

"It's best if you forget about this," said Kaoru enigmatically.

"Let's go," Saki walked away without looking back.

"Ah, wait..."

But the would-be-victim wasn't done. "Thank you so much..." she said earnestly "... For saving me."

The Pleiades hesitated, still trying to maintain their cool facade.

'Shit, someone say something!' ordered Saki.

"Be careful of..." muttered Niko, turning to also walk away, "... dark alleys and Witch's kisses."

'That's the best you could come up with?!' screamed Umika telepathically.

'It's enigmatic... and stuff!' defended herself Niko.

'I'll teach you about enigmatic one liners!' Umika grit her teeth.

'Your horns are showing,' pointed out Satomi.

'Shit,' swore Umika, hurrying up the pace.

"Well..." Mirai turned back as the Pleiades were exiting the alleway, "see you."

A minute later, completely ignorant of Kyuubey's machinations down where they left the girl, the six Pleiades gathered in a circle on a random roof a block away.

"Well..." said Saki, "... I think that went OK."

The others nodded, sighing with some relief.

"Yeah, it was fine."

"Could use some more work."

"Yeah, with the one liners."

"We should have some more plans prepared-"

"-So we don't have to make them up on the spot."

"Yeah."

"But it went OK."

"OK, good job, team!"

The Pleiades Saints went back home, proud in the knowledge they had saved an innocent life that day.
