[X][MED] Rear Admiral Leonard McCoy

[][GBZ] blank

So apparently the battle of Ixaria was only back in 2315... tracting that Yamada vote while I consider further.

Important. We need to save our Explorer Corps crew so that we can crew both the Ambassador and the Enterprise with EC crew.

[X][NAME1] Discovery
[X][NAME2] Liberator
[X][NAME3] Timekeeper
[X][NAME4] Frontier

The Discovery is in honor of the current television show. The Liberator is the Orion name. The Timekeeper is the Gaeni name, after a Gaeni ship in an @ClawClawBite omake.

And the Frontier because this is our final Excelsior and the Final Frontier. Also it's a great Starfleet ship name!

Check out my GBZ vote, everyone. I admit it's a little picking her out of obscurity, but I think she's actually an interesting choice! Lots of the exact experience we need in the post, but a fresh perspective.

Was voting off of incorrect information.

I don't like the name liberator.

Here's my go at it:

[X][NAME2] Dawn
[X][NAME3] Warden
[X][NAME4] Tranquility

McCoy's bonus is not actually that great. Assuming he sticks around for a decade that's a SINGLE unit of crew of each type.

That's minuscule.

Voting for him anyway because McCoy.

@Briefvoice made his case and it was a good one. I can't honestly think of anyone better than McCoy for VAdm of Medical. I can't honestly imagine letting him slip by as a rear admiral. He is one of the giants of Starfleet. On a more practical side, given the rising cost of academy development any method of crew intake should be looked at carefully.

Yamada should do well in GBZ command given her history, but I don't really have any comment on her beyond that.

On a different note, those Cardassian faces when we launch four excelsiors all at once. What a last hurrah!

McCoy is fine, but I like promoting our ships. Neither bonus is very big at all though.

[X][GBZ] Gorac Crogan

Sure. I'd love to hear a tellarite giving reports. We sent him to a border zone command specifically so he would be ready for Rear Admiral. It's not like Ichigo is a bad choice, just want this more.

There is also the option of paying PP for an EC recruitment drive this Snakepit. If you did want to push that option, then I'd recommend CREW4 to put to the EC, and we'd be cutting it close on our margin for casualties. I'm not going to vote for it at the moment, but I am considering it, and it deserves mention.

Not mad keen on Discovery, let's save some names for our later explorer classes. Discovery feels like it should be an Explorer Corps name. Timekeeper is also kind of weak. On the other hand, building our last block of Excelsiors without a USS Lakota would make me sad. All that said, it's just ship names.

McCoy's bonus is pretty miniscule, but this one is not. Blooding ships gives us significant bonuses to their operation, and while we can acquire crew from many sources experience boosts are much harder to come by.

As of the 2012 Rat Race, she was promoted to commodore in the position of Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Starfleet Command. Before that, she was Captain of the Excelsior during the Licori war and fought under Thuir in the Ixaria system.

A battletested commodore ready for promotion to Rear Admiral who has extensive experience coordinating lots of ships due to her time as Deputy CoS in Ops.

Unfortunately, this can't be accurate. Ixaria happened in 2315. Therefore Ichigo either can't have captained the Excelsior or he can't have fought at Ixaria. Possibly, he captained the Excelsior as a commodore? I doubt it's possible to reconcile, though, seems Oneiros just forgot about his promotion when he listed the Excelsior's captain on the order of battle.

Part of the problem with Emancipator is we have a USS Emancipation already.

e: Looking at the omake, I'm personally okay with Zarayet. They're right that the literal thousand years between the two is enough time, and it acknowledges that we can move past Orion history. Plus, Zarayet seems fairly distinctive for those people who didn't like alien ship names.

We could also save up EC for more FYM Ambassadors in 2321-2325 construction wave.

Digs through ye olde omake... how about USS Emancipator? Lol.
We already have a Renaissance named Emancipation.
