Personally, I'll be sticking with Efficient Cruise, because while our remaining Excaliburs are awesome I don't see us needing to group them into task forces with a Federation leader any time soon. The task forces the Federations are going to lead in practice will be made up of Mirandas... who certainly don't have quads, and I'll bet quite a bit won't have sprint.
Point of order:

Every ship we have built has Sprint, going back to the first Stingray in the 22nd century
The Archer-class is only 0.2 slower than the Newton at max warp, and it also had a max cruise setting
And its a cargo carrier with Cruise nacelles

The Mirandas may not have quad nacelles, but they are still going to be Warp 8 ships
They'll be much faster than their predecessors
Even the Attenborough was running around with warp at 6.2/7/8.2

[X] Cruise Nacelles (Efficient Cruise: Warp 6.8 -> 7) (Mass: 220kt -> 260kt) [Cost: 67]

Remember people we've been getting less and less subtle hints to not just build the most expensive ship just because it has the highest performance, gotta make some cuts somewhere.

It may not be a Thunderchild but we can at least call it a Chonkolungma.

Against my expectations, the Quads don't give any boost to Efficient Cruise or Max Warp, so they're a little underwhelming. Cruise is the best of the remaining options, and suit its peacetime patrol duties perfectly (the extra volume patrolled per month is significant when our fleet size is so limited). But quads are admittedly perfect for its intended wartime/emergency role.

I'll be...well, content is a strong word, but I'll be fine with either of these, I think.

I just like quad nacelles and we have done them before and the results where good.. also fleet anchor get

At the moment this is effectively anti-sprint voting, and when I wake up I'll do more thinking.

Not every ship we've built has sprint configuration, which should have been the obvious interpretation of what I just wrote.
My apologies, but it wasnt obvious to me

Anyway, I went back and checked, and we've been offering Sprint Configurations since Project Brahe/Curiosity, which was launched back in 2165
Miranda will probaby offer the Sprint Configuration as well during the design phase, and Im betting that it gets it or the vanilla balanced configuration

Here's a chart of the warp coil time-to-failure as the materials decay, from maximum cruise to maximum warp.

Not sure if Im reading the graph right, but is that total lifetime hours at sprint, or just total time during the ongoing episode?
I assume its Option 1, but Id prefer to confirm

Two Hour Moratorium, Please
She's a beautiful chonk, and in light of all of the speed calcs/showcases we did before this showing the advantages of a higher maximum cruise there's only one choice I can make in good conscience. To say nothing of the mass this well net us!

[X] Quad Nacelles (Maximum Cruise: Warp 7 -> 7.4) (Mass: 220kt -> 300kt) [Cost: 79]

[X] Quad Nacelles (Maximum Cruise: Warp 7 -> 7.4) (Mass: 220kt -> 300kt) [Cost: 79]

I am worried about the difference in sprint speeds and would like to know if that is important because I might change my vote.

[X] Cruise Nacelles (Efficient Cruise: Warp 6.8 -> 7) (Mass: 220kt -> 260kt) [Cost: 67]

Has a small taskforce/flotilla leader and has patrol has its main mission this makes most sense its efficient warp is equal to the existing designs max.

[X] Quad Nacelles (Maximum Cruise: Warp 7 -> 7.4) (Mass: 220kt -> 300kt) [Cost: 79]

I want to note for the record that I hope we can stick enough impulse engines on this thing to give it 'Very High' maneuverability. The idea of 300 tons of spaceship dancing like a Bird of Prey is still an appealing (and amusing) one to me.

It might not always be able to force engagements, but it'll get where it's going first, and be an absolute unit once it's there.

I still want an emergency response ship, and this is the best for that.
