Pitching Some Names!
[ ] UFS Atlatl, after the Mesoamercian Spear-Throwing tool
[ ] UFS Sharanga, named for The Celestial Bow of Vishnu
[ ] UFS Ushaan-Tor, Named for The Andorian ice mining tool and Ritual Weapon.
Oooh, I like these. Ushaan-Tor is a great choice for the novelty of deliberately invoking the multispecies polity that the Federation is, and what better way to do that than naming a well-designed class of ship after an Andorian cultural icon?

Or a Vulcan one, I suppose.

[X] UFS Lirpa. For the Vulcan ceremonial weapon.

@Sayle Can we at least get one of the ships of the class named after the Vulcan ship that helped save Earth from the Romulan cobalt nukes?

I like the nonhuman naming here for the class name ship, and also ceremonial weapons are a cool theme; we can have UFS Athame and UFS Vajra among the follow-on builds.

[ ] UFS Selachii. For Earth's sharks.
This is just BEGGING for confusion between Project Soyuz (the Selachii-class) and Project Selachii (the Skate-class).

Counting all the split votes, Lirpa and Selachii are neck-and-neck.

I doubt anyone outside of Starfleet R&D refers to the ships by their original design project name, and given that's one of the default names on offer they don't seem too concerned about any confusion. If anything it's more of a nod towards this being a bigger, meaner successor to the Skate-class.
