Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

  • [X] Thank you everyone for this great award which I did not expect to achieve for years to come. It was already an incredible honor to be nominated and compete alongside five amazing and incredibly talented stars, to win it is simply incredible. What makes this night even more great is that the award is due to my portrayal of Conan, my favorite literary character and hero. As my family can testify, growing up having a Conan novel in hand was a common sight, and many days were spent engaging in the fantastic world of the Hyborian Age. Following Conan's adventures and rise is one of my favorite childhood memories, so to share his story with the world through the great art of film was already a wonderful feat, but to play the character and give due justice to Howard's vision is a great honor, and I'm grateful to receive a reward for such tonight.
--[X] However, this award would not be possible without a long list of people who I must thank. To Steven Spielberg, one of the best directors in film, without his direction and leadership this film would have not only not been as great, but never crossed the finish line, thanks for sticking with me Steve. To all the cast and crew of Conan, with whom each role played a pivotal part in the final film and without their participation I likely wouldn't have this award. My beloved wife Carrie, the guiding light and love of my life who was pregnant with our first child while I was off swinging swords in the desert. Carrie, you're my greatest inspiration and I'm so happy to share my journey with you. My best friend George Lucas who co-founded the best studio in town seven years ago, the magic and movies we've made together have been a great journey. My wonderful children Mary, Sarah and Joseph. It's been my greatest honor and joy to be your father for the past two years and I look forward to the many years we have to come. My parents, for having always supported my dream from the beginning, love you Mom and Dad. To Robert Howard, for creating the greatest series of books ever. Last and never least, my fans who have supported me from my first days, your continued support always means the world to me and it's my great pleasure to continue making great art for you. Thank you everyone. We win these!
[X] "I'm humbly thankful that I was recognized by the Academy. I'm glad that the envious old boy's club were able to see past any potential reluctance on their part."

Not sure about using a bit of slang that won't be used for another 40 years but thems the breaks.

Since I posted after a silly vote, I figured to end the sincerity with just a minor bit of silliness that could be attributed to enthusiasm and nothing that would outright offend the Academy. Plus while it is very ahead of its time in a Back to the Future style introduction, it's at least nothing too out there like Bruce calling the Academy a bunch of Sussy Bakas and congratulating Lucasfilms on being Barack to get the based dub after Bruce yeeted the competition. Also if we haven't done so already, we enter Bruce's journey into memehood. He and Carrie are gamers after all.

Bruce: Okay maybe you guys aren't ready for that one yet. But your kids are going to love it.

Hopefully we get more oscars next time. For now, I'm wondering if other actors or directors will finally try and approach us for more movies. It just seems like we are limiting ourselves when we can only use our stable of directors.

They will actually.

They are also going to be part of the action plan votes…

Kinda.

I call it a random director/producer wants money and they ask you for it.

I was actually planning on recruiting Ron Howard this year since he's explicitly quitting Happy Days this season so he can transition fully into directing. Should hopefully be easy since we already got the links with American Graffiti and he's worked with Bruce and George before to know their good men and not believe the bullshit.

Calling the vote:

Yes I know there is a tie.

I'm just going to roll the dice to see who wins.

1 is for Hitchcock Tribute.
2 is for Kaiser's Write in
D2 => 2
By the way @Magoose can you give me a little help with the budget needed for this?

I am guessing that $10-20 millon would be enough...
@Magoose I have had an idea for an investment that while it is not going to give us basically any profit, it will be to be pretty funny... Can you tell me if this is possible and how much money we would need to invest to get it done?

[] Bruce O'Brian's Glorius Gallery of Bootleg Films: After Robin brought home the suggestively titled "The Tramps And The Planet War" to watch after your weekly DnD session you got an idea so stupid that everyone laughed their asses off and beg you to actually bring it to fruition... So that is how this museum was conceived, which will be dedicated to immortalizing the awfully hilarious string of knockoffs and rip-offs from Hollywood movies that have been produced throughout the whole world, including masterpieces like the Russian Winnie the Pooh, The Korean King Kong, The Turkish James Bond and so forth... The exposition will not only include all the merchandising acquired (mostly through smugglers), the film itself via VHS or film reels, and the info about the film itself and the movie it imitates... The best part is that with every ticket is included a pass to see one of these bootlegs in a small Cineplex under the museum (the films rotate regularly)

By the way, I am terrible at naming things, so any suggestion in that regard for the name of this "Museum" would be welcome...

Part of why I made the sincere tribute was so that we wouldn't piss off the Academy and deny our friends Oscars. For all they don't like us, they still indirectly rewarded Lucasfilms by giving Francis and John an Oscar spree, thus adding prestige and hype to Dune and Red Dawn. While George and Bruce might not place high value, our friends like Martin or Steve do and I don't want to screw them over. Also I really wanted to boost if any way for Empire to sweep the Oscars for next year. If we don't get Best Director or Picture for that I'm fully on board with scorched Earth and trolls.

Marketing Talk: Shelf Life
... Merch Rolls now will have a x2 factor... for the next merch roll.

Which is Empire. :V

But I will also add this: Bruce's Idea for a language learning TV show is... going to make waves among the whole... Dreamworks Staff. Mostly becuase they think he's insane.

But they all are, and decided that, if he wants to, we can do it. :V
MCAU: The Mighty Avengers: [ Series 1: Season 1 | Superhero Epic / Action Adventure ]
The Plan is in motion, and you can produce the Animated Series...

All of them. But not at the same time, because dammit man, that would be insane.:V

Turn 77 (May 1980)
Turn 77 (May 1980)

You took a deep breath and looked at the many people in the audience, and honestly, you could tell a lot of them did not want you to be there. And that, was fine, you could deal with all that crap because it meant that others would not care.

And you got everything you wanted. So honestly… You were fine with that.

"Thank you everyone for this great award which I did not expect to achieve for years to come." At that, you could see disgust from several Universal directors who were honestly sick of it. But again, you didn't care. They were shocked and mad that you were taking this with grace, with a smile, and with tons of… other stuff.

"It was already an incredible honor to be nominated and compete alongside five amazing and incredibly talented stars, to win it is simply incredible. And that was the straw that seemed to break the spell of the annoyance and the hatred. How could they hate someone who had such a dear and devoted love to something that he had known his entire life?

Cause to you, Conan was a very… interesting and important sight to you. And the fact you gave it your all, to dedicate it… was a sight to behold.

And there were some cheers and hollers at that. Seems you were winning the crowd over.

"However, this award would not be possible without a long list of people who I must thank. My beloved wife Carrie, the guiding light and love of my life who was pregnant with our first child while I was off swinging swords in the desert. "My best friend George Lucas who co-founded the best studio in town seven years ago, the magic and movies we've made together have been a great journey. My wonderful children Mary, Sarah and Joseph. The Reaction To The Speech (Everyone Else):D100 => 92

And as you took the Oscar, and held it up in your hand… you could tell something was shifting.

Maybe it was the fact that you were saying something incredible.

Bruce The Goose… was not the arrogant, unbridled, rich asshole whom everyone thought he was.

He was just like them, another actor who just happened to make it big… with a love for film, and his collection of people he called a family.

And while you gained the respect of your peers and coworkers… something told you that this was the last Oscar that you would win for a very very long time.

Which was a shame. You were about to knock their socks off.

I think we did a good enough job , we have the people's support and we got an Oscar. Besides, if we continue giving excellent movies and receive nothing in return, they are going to notice something 's up.

We might be able to make our own Oscar's when they collapse afterwards.

Well, I think the many different options here will keep us quite busy. However, I will give a suggestion we may take, up to you guys.

Let's try and buy/license the Gamera franchise. Let's revive it before Toho revives the Godzilla Franchise and make millions as trailblazers while they are the ones who will be copying us.

What do you think?

Can we make our own Oscars Now guys it would scare the heads there and also lead to it collapsing as we ban those that try to cheat and also we literally make the world VOTE which one they like

[]Being Better: You are going to be better at the whole Media thing. DC: 60

Narratively this is a good choice now. Following his legal war on the media and arrest warrants for most of the older Reporters after the car chase tot he hospital it is likely it will be newbie reporters who have only seen Bruce in movies or at the Oscars.

The New reporters are likely to expect him to be reasonable, as that is there screen experience of him, and will not go to insane and unprofessional lengths to get stories or pictures.

Bruce in turn will find it easier to be reasonable back because they are also more likely to be digging into the things they are interested in that brought them to Hollywood, acting and story questions, rather than personal questions the reporters could ask any celebrity anywhere else.

I don't think we should do it this turn or anything, but I think at some point we should try and lobby for some kind of early ADA(Americans with Disabilities Act). It would probably be a bit of a tougher sell on it's own just because of where the attitude and general perceptions are at this point, so I think because of all the work we've done with and for veterans and how we've helped massively shift perceptions of veterans in the country, I think we should frame it under the lens of focusing on helping disabled veterans and then expanding from there. Either that or having the actual laws apply to all disabled peoples, but that the way that it's publicly marketed is towards veterans, or something else along those lines. Of course, it's not strictly necessary, but I think it would make it easier for people to accept and to then move from there.

The Reaction To The Speech (The Academy):D100 => 12

Bruh, the Academy hates Technoblade, the absolute losers. Now I wonder if we went with the Hitchcock option and the Academy fucking loved it while the rest of Hollywood and America wasn't such a fan.

Well that stinks that we likely won't win another Oscar, but at least we gained a lot more friends in Hollywood and if it was televised, America continues to see us as their beloved golden goose, the hero of Hollywood and all around nice guy. Massive PR win and this act will probably gain us a lot of soft power and connections than otherwise. If nothing else, this will probably mean that if Empire gets no Oscars that LA will riot and burn the Academy to the ground.

--[X] Polaroid, $250,000,000. Use 250 million of the warchest to approach Polaroid and offer a buyout into the greater Lucasfilms company. George has the amazing vision and foresight for the future of cameras with his digital technology and Polaroid has the infrastructure and branding to help George build his camera Empire. To seal the deal, network with Polaroid Chairman and co-founder Edwin Land to gain his support for Polaroid's new path forward.

So first off we distribute Empire and see the release of the new GOAT. Meet with Sam Rami and support what I believe to be Evil Dead. Catch up with Mike about the Universal case. Meet with George for his digital camera. Oversee the release of Cyberpunk 2013. Help Marvel with its debts and endear the company to their new overlords.

Support Todd at his graduation and see what his future holds, maybe joining Lucasfilms. Have fun playing Cyberpunk and a nice way to get some fluff. Some Carrie fluff and from here probably get an idea where the O'Brian family is headed in the near future. Mary fluff to help her with her genius and sehpherd her in the right direction. Meet with Brandon and see what idea he has. Catch up with Clint and see what kind of Western he wants to make, and finally get rid of the media malus.

Now would be a good time to buy a camera/tech companies because now they can't decline and go to universal.

I would wait for next turn so we can see first what George has done with his digital camera and see if it would be better to build an in-house company like THX and Skywalker Sound or use George's camera as incentive for the camera companies later to accept a purcahse and get super profitable.
