[X] Two Nacelles (Warp 3.6, 15 -> 23 Industry)

Again, there is no reason for this ship to handily outpace its main escort, the Stingray-class. And experimental technology is best tested on a much less expensive platform or in peacetime, not with a big chunk of industrial output badly needed for the war at risk. I'd be happy to trial a three-nacelle, arrowhead shaped successor to the Stingray-class later but taking a risk of total failure with this project is in no way justified.

We're still got several very important systems to resolve on this ship. Phase cannon numbers and placement, computer cores, torpedo bays... and we're very probably going to need some serious computer core(s) to run all the weapons at peak effeciency.

Also, as has been mentioned many times, this has a decent enough cruise and sprint, and we do have an industry budget we don't want to completely blow after having just finished laying out primary hull and deflector.

The problem with three nacelles is not only is that experimental but all our weapon options are gonna be prototypes and we will need a fuckton on this beast. Furthermore this is basically a war emergency design and we dont want to be playing around with anything that could explode in our faces.

Yeah, this thing doesn't need to be faster than its escorts. Two nacelles gives it a good enough cruising speed. And the suggestion that this thing could explode if we do three nacelles and mission kill the ship before it ever even sees combat is terrifying.

we cant afford the months needed to get an experimental ship working, id rather it be slow.

I've gone over my reasons for voting for this earlier in thread (in short, saves more industry budget to arm this thing to the gills, can still cruise with its most probable escorts, not as likely to be temperamental as the three nacelle option, less risk of power shortages trying to run at speed than the quad nacelle design - while we haven't been told that's a risk, I'll point out this would be the first time any UE ship has tried to run with more than two nacelles - and also the lower mass = potentially better sublight maneuverability mentioned by others).

nooooo... the boring options winning, why?

Well I guess there's always the next ship, its a quest, not the end of the world. ¯\__(ツ)__/¯

I think the UES Pimp Hand is fine to cruise like a Cadillac Eldorado from the 70s-80s. It doesn't need to be a Ferrari.

I'm sorry I must vote for the goofy dreadnought option. It is probably not actually a good choice but in this case I must stick with the classic "stick a third nacelle on" design.

We should go with the 2 nacelles for 3 reasons one it won't have a chance to blow up on us, two it's already fast enough, and three the industry we save on the macelles can go to more dakka and their is never enough dakka

Both of these have significant upsides with reasonable downsides. The three nacelle option just seems to be adding unnecessary risk.

I.. ;_; Well. I just can't. Sorry, Yoyodyne. Maybe next time.

Eh.... well.... I guess this will either be splitting the difference or splitting the ship. YOLO.
