[X] Three Nacelles (Warp 3.8, 15 -> 27 Industry) [Experimental]

[X] Four Nacelles (Warp 4, 15 -> 31 Industry)

Either one tbh, Two nacelles isn't even worth considering.

Either or, I think going for 2 is just kneecapping our ship's potential.

I'm a liar, I can't stomach spending 16 Industry on this.

RNGesus, take the wheel you have the conn

[X] Two Nacelles (Warp 3.6, 15 -> 23 Industry)

There is no reason to expend more resources to make it a bunch faster than its escorts since its only going to move as fast as its slowest escort barring crazy WEP sprints. Think of it like a Standard type Battleship, its not here to win races, its here to slug shit out and fuck shit up.

2 Nacelles is only 10% slower than a refitted stingray.
There's no reason a DN needs to go faster than it's lightest escorts, and a 10% reduction in cruising speed is pretty negligible even in the event Sayle insists that Stingrays were always faster than actually listed.

Warp speeds are exponential so it's more than a 10% difference that the whole fleet has to slow down to stay with the slowest ship.

Usually I'd be all for pushing the boundaries but we have absolutely no legacy ship's that fill this roll to fall back on if things get fucky. I'd rather have a functional if unexceptional design still able to fulfill the desired capabilities rather than something untested and sub par.

Considering where things are in this quest at this point, I think it'd be a good idea for all votes to have mechanical summaries like this one.

If we're going to build a dreadnought, then we should build a proper dreadnought.

[ ] Seven Nacelles (Warp 4.2 Warp 0, 15 -> 43 Industry)

Excuse me, I'm being told by those cowards at Yoyodyne that this "will definitely explode" and is "too crazy even for us". We'll revisit this for the next Stingray refit.

The only mentioned downside is the cost to build. My expectation is that given ship numbers, we're looking at the difference between a Fast DN Fleet consisting of 3 DN, 6 HC and 15 LC, versus a Slow DN Fleet of… 3 DN, 6 HC and 16 LC. I'd rather make sure our strongest, most survivable ship is also the fastest.

Absolutely no need to outrace our escorts. It'll be a long while before we see a Warp 6 or 7 engine come down the line, and this is a wartime emergency build. We should absolutely not be blowing no-longer-post-scarcity industrial capacity on excess performance that will be constrained by her escorts and will delay delivery time and quantity.

[ ] 28 Nacelles

28 Nacelles. YOU DIDN'T WANNA LEAVE IT TO CHANCE, HUH? DID YOU FEEL ANGER? HATE? I KNOW YOU EXPLODED THE PROTOTYPE WHY WON'T YOU SAY IT?
