Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

We do have the Back to the Future Script now...:evil2:
Unfortunately, they don't enter production until Dec. 1980, but since the company implodes in late 1982, it's not a long wait.

Bonus points, their main factory was in Northern Ireland, but as an enterprising individual I don't see why we couldn't have it moved into the Republic of Ireland if we own more than just a controlling share, revitalize some areas of Ireland that haven't been doing so well in light of the Famine and Troubles...and eventually one in Detroit, bring life back there too, while we at it.

[EDIT: Stand corrected, I did forget about the prototype models that've been out since 1976, so there's still a chance for us to do it now...]

I am 100% for all of this. As well as in favor of buying something like Commodore like you suggested earlier(I like playing tall).

Honestly not a fan of Apple, would rather have us invest either into Linux or an international company (recommend Razer or Samsung), buy out a company that will go bankrupt (Commodore, Gateway, etc.), and/or create our own computer company (as an outgrowth of Lucasfilm), as by and large they do not make quality products, but by and large luxury products that target artists and the poor, and overall plays nasty with other software.
Well with Apple we have three main reasons to get them...
  • They are at this point the ones with the most advanced computers besides Arpanet
  • With Apple we get both Steve Bozniak (one of the best computer engineer of all time) and Steve Jobs (and yeah, he was a fucking asshole, but he had great ideas for products and was a great salesman)
  • We have an IC reason to buy them, and we can buy them pretty cheaply (their IPO was $102 millions)
I am 100% for all of this. As well as in favor of buying something like Commodore like you suggested earlier(I like playing tall).
And I am firmly against buying companies in bankruptcy... It is true that we can buy them very cheaply, and we may eventually find a diamond in the rough, but in 99% of the cases we would only getting an obsolete company in which talent has already fled and a damaged brand.

But besides all that...I want us to invest into, and later buy out [when it self-implodes], the DeLorean Motor Company, revamping their cars into a far more quality product and, eventually, hybrid and electric cars [when the scientists we pay figure it out, hopefully in the '90s]
Despite being extremely iconic due to Back to the Future, Delorean made cars which were pretty awful...

[X] Plan Hoist Thine Enemies On Their Own Petard

We keep on doing "A Charitable Heart" a lot, we really should go into buying companys or at least a lot of there shares

Need to ask what an appropriate investment into these companies would be, because I honestly have no sense of scale. Figure we can slowly acquire these over the next few years.

[] Investments: You want to invest your hard-earned cash into something that you feel will be a good return on investment. And as well as diversify your assets DC: 0 (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to invest in)
-[] Commodore International [ -$- ]: Computer Electronics, access to Canadian markets.
-[] Craftsman [ -$- ]: Home equipment and tools, American company; sells to the Military Exchange stores.
-[] DeLorean Motor Company [ -$- ]: Car manufactory, potential to later invest in hybrid & electric cars.
-[] Kodak [ -$- ]: Get into the (personal) camera market, American company. [Note: See if they can make our digital cameras personal]
-[] Nintendo [ -$- ]: Videogames, access to Japanese markets.
-[] Samsung Electronics [ -$- ]: Electronics, access to Korean markets.
-[] Stihl [ -$- ]: Consumer landscaping equipment, access to German markets.
-[] Nerf [ -$- ]: Toy company. [Note: See if our toy company can purchase this]
--[] Super Soaker [ -$- ]: Unavailable until 1989.
-[] Stratasys [ -$- ]: Unavailable until 1989, creators of the 3D Printer that all modern ones are based on. Useful for propmaking and maybe...

This is largely before that point in time that they've declared bankruptcy, with DeLorean's was the drug case that he got acquitted on (police entrapment- still an addict, tho) that hasn't happened yet, and Commodore was largely the result of their salesmen's really shitty treatment of their suppliers.

I've already addressed that...

I still stand by us going for Atari instead of Nintendo and leaving them for either their independence or for Disney, since they are already closely tied with Disney.
Atari is currently losing all of their talent due to poor treatment. While it is still salvageable, we are gonna have to put effort to pull it out of it's downward spiral that will inevitably kill the power of it's brand, through their future Pac-Man game and the infamous ET game.

Forgot about that...might be easier to just raid their corpse, then, and buy out everything in the aftermath, incorporating it into LucasArts.

We've been over this before, but I literally don't care. I want us to buy Atari and keep it alive as a major video game company. It may not be the smartest decision, but I can't say that I really care and I'm fine with needing to put time and effort into keeping it alive.

In which case the sooner the better. Because it still has it's reputation. And as far as the game flood, we could mitigate the effect on customers by implementing a sort of seal of approval system to help people pick out the gems contained in the flood that if I remember correctly, is less than a year away.

"If my three-year old can tell your idea is dumb, what do you think everyone else will think?"

"I-"

"And enough with the powdered droughts, that's how you get...ants...that's not powdered sugar, is it?"

"..."

"..."

"...it is not bossman."

"...all of you, managers and above, get the fuck out of my company."

"You want to skip QA testing? Because it's already finished?! I know I am not a game designer, but looking at this plan, it looks like releasing a fully unedited movie BUT WORSE! We aren't making plates, chairs, or TOWLS. We are making entertainment, stuff like board games, books, movies! Stuff that can't be measured simply by whenever or not it's done at the most basic meaning of the word!"

Hey Magoose, how's the Gym doing? Like, from a financial standpoint, given it's been almost three years since it opened.
