How would Mathilde react if Aksel came to her tomorrow and asked for complete written copies of all of the lore and secrets of the Grey Order?

/jk: How good would be be at making sure the rest of the Order would not find out and would he be willing to trade :V

Seriously though do not ask for the secrets of the literal mystery cult guys, not only would they not be willing to hand it to us, they are most likely not even able to because they are not written down.

"Are you kidding? I don't have all the lore and secrets of the Grey Order. There's this contingent memory trick that is the coolest shit ever but which is locked down super hard, and even the Lords and Ladies Magister don't know the process by which our leader is selected. I'd tell you to come back once I'm Magister Matriarch of my Order, but to be totally honest I'm not convinced I'd have clearance even if I were literally in charge."

@Boney Would taking lessons on scouting from the air from the Dwarven Gyrocopter pilots with the Receive Training action serve towards improving our Scouting skill? And separate but relatedly, would the use of this skill in the Waystones mapping actions we want to take be sufficient to justify it as a WEBMAT action if we bring along the character we'll later be mapping with?

No. Completely different skillsets.

No. Mapping Waystones with someone who can spot the magical energies requires only the vaguest idea of how a compass works.

Something that just came to mind - someone suggested Eike tagging along with Kazador's throng while they hunted Greenskins, as a practical martial lesson. Would this also have a chance of advancing Eike's Waaaghbane? Her understanding of Waaagh is purely theoretical so far, so seeing Waaagh energies in person could help, right? Though I'm not sure if the Greenskins Kazador fights have a noticable Waaagh field, I think it requires a lot of "organized" Greenskins or something?

I'd say there's a chance she could improve or even complete her waaaghbane skill, but we shouldn't expect it and treat it as a nice bonus if it does. The main thing she'd be learning is rangering and dwarf culture stuff (which is still worth doing).

Kazador puts a lot of effort into making sure his local Greenskins don't organize enough into a major threat, but Waaagh-vir was said to function predictably enough that it should be good practice.

Would also give her some practice on applying Mathilde's visual Windsight advice to her Wind-tuition (while on her own)

[ ] Enter into negotiations with the Druchii delegation to Laurelorn
The Druchii have proffered magical knowledge and advance information on Karond Kar corsair movements in exchange for information on and samples of interesting creatures and phenomena of the Old World, but all kinds of other deals could be negotiated.

I really want to do this action next turn. I really feel it could benefit Mathilde and the Empire as a whole to do it, and I don't think the price the druuchi are asking for "samples of interesting creatures and phenomena of the Old World" is too much. It's also an excellent opportunity of getting more woldbuilding from a Druchii perspective which I find interesting.

Sending Eike to learn Politicking from Anton could be both useful for her and amusing:

"How to find outrageous success with only 8 Diplomacy: Notes from a Master"

I'm mainly worried that we would give them something we think is harmless but it turns out they can make something very useful out of.

I have no real desire to trade with them. The only action I could be convinced to do is ambushing slavers.

Now now, he made his greatest successes when he was at 4 diplomacy.

Who needs great stats when Ranald loves you?

the unsaid truth of the Druchii, the reason why they can do horrible things to people and people keep on making deals with them?

They are very, very good at keeping the people they do horrible things to and the people they make deals with from being in the same room.

And the deals are legitimately good deals... for you, if you're the people they are making deals with.

their basically Nike/Apple/Nestlé

edit: that said, I'm super tempted. (which is how you know Boeny wrote the Druhii well.)

Doesn't Anton III serve on a wolfship?

Edit:

The same can also be said for us. Something they think is harmless for us could turn up to be very useful in our hands, and even more when we use it to kill Druchii in the Elfication.

"Haha look how dumb the monkeys are we had to teach them how to use hammers"

Meanwhile:

"Wow these hammerfeet pair so well with our chiselhands, let's go stomp some chaos"

And we're more likely to fight the Druchii in general than we are to fight any Druchii who the knowledge we trade reaches.

Also, some of what we trade is likely to reach them eventually anyway, like Waaaghbane.

Personally doing some limited trading with them seems fine. We are still not the main hunting grounds of the druchii and I doubt one conversation with somewhat unimportant delegates will change that.

We might accidentally fuck over someone else, but that just kinda happens in international politics. And we certainly will try not to.

Something else to consider is that we're far more likely to share useful knowledge with other people who can use it whereas the Druichi we trade knowledge with is likely to hoard it to get an advantage over their peers.

If we teach one Sorceress Waaaghbane she's very likely to get it to herself to make herself better at enslaving orcs and goblins than her rivals.

By contrast, if we buy a bunch of Indic books on Ulgu they stole, we're likely to share them with the entire Grey College.

I think I'd be fine with trading with the Druuchi. Like yeah, empowering the state of Naggarond is bad, but empowering the Empire is at least equally good, so with a "fair" trade we'd be net neutral - and we'd of course be trying not to make particularly fair trades.

And of course, whilst we'd happily leverage anything we get from said trades for the betterment of the Empire as a whole, I daresay the Druuchi we choose to deal with will happily put their own ambitions before maximising the benefits to their state. So with a "fair" trade I'd argue we'd come out ahead.

The real question is how far ahead we'd come out, and how that balances against the opportunity cost of every other action we might be taking instead. Writing off the Druuchi trade as probably being a net negative seems foolish, but saying that it's not as valuable as the other actions it's in contention with seems perfectly valid, to me.

The Druchii are seeking novelties and luxuries, yes? So how much do you think they'll pay for a copy of Mathilde's romance collection? It currently has a street value of 750 GC, but we have some really obscure stuff that the Druchii won't be able to access easily.

Romance +11 - Extensive Imperial / Bretonnian / Dwarven / Extensive Eonir / Extensive Druchii / Extensive and Obscure Skaven
Overly Vulgar Romance +4 - Druchii / Eonir / Extensive Skaven

Voting in turns works by plan format. You'd need it to look something like this for the tally to pick it up:
[-] Plan Name that begins with the word plan
-[-] Action 1
-[-] Action 2
-[-] Action 3
-[-] Action 4
-[-] Action 5
-[-] EIC Action
-[-] KAU Action
-[-] Eike Action(s)

I imagine wholesome skaven romance would be something really alien to the Druchii and go for a lot lol.
