Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

This is the same argument I had with my coworkers today. You don't need a brain to enjoy Pacific Rim. It's Mecha vs Kaiju. My monkey brain enjoys this type of violence.
Pacific rim is even easier to enjoy as it combines two things most people like big mecha and big monster the fact it's the two of them just having a slugfest makes it even better.

So who wants a random dice roll about a certain event that will in no way effect...

The future.

Disney: D100 => 64

Um... Considering all thats happened... An Average Roll is an improvement. :V

Hmmm...Looks like the Disney family are keeping the House of Mouse and staved off a hostile takeover while they fixed the worst of the issues with parks and movies are returning steady profits. I guess this means that Disney is back to chugging along its OTL path, which is for the best all things considering. I don't really want to destroy the Mouse until the Rennaisance ends and Mike is no longer CEO, although if Star Wars launches a golden age of Lucasflims domination, maybe he might not want to jump ship.

This is a pretty great outcome. We proved to Toho that we can handle their golden child and flagship property with love and respect and Toho is finally starting to see that foreign markets can be successfully breached and they don't need to be so insular in making movies. We should probably get Lady Snowblood II and the next Godzilla when we get the chance. Also I'm confident Universal and the others won't get far because unlike them, Lucasflims treats Toho as an equal rather than a tool and we respect the culture.

I know what you mean. I just saw Pacific Rim again 3 days ago, and despite watching it for the 4th time, and realizing that it does ahve some flaws, I couldn't help but enjoy it from beginning to end! I didn't care that it was mindless violence for the sake of mindless violence! It has Giant Robots fighting Kaiju! What more do you need!!!

It also helped that this movie was a return to form in many ways for the Godzilla franchise. Previous entries had leaned too much into a format that used more comedy, or trying to make Godzilla more into a hero, or even trying to reimagine the formula, not understanding that the formula of "Giant Monster fights another Giant Monster" did not need anything else. This movie went back to the basics in that way.

By the way @Magoose , I'll go for this option:

[]Everyone brought their A Game (+30 to Chemistry and SP during production of Star Wars)

At the very least we got Mifune who was George's true first pick, and Mifune as Obi-wan is going to do wonders for Asian representation in cinema, not to mention whoever plays a young Obi-wan.

I'm mainly a lurker, but if you're talking about potential Asian actors what about South Korean Actors? There are some that are currently achieving worldwide fame in RL but would be relatively fresh faced just in time for Phantom Menace.

While i personally don't actually follow the South Korean Acting scene closely, there is one actor that i know of: Jung Woo-sung - Wikipedia

He's apparently 50 right now and is 2 years younger then Ewan, and most impressively his face has barely aged. In terms of action scenes, i mainly remember watching him in a Korean Western: The Good, The Bad and The Weird where he did some impressive trick shots.

Alan’s Deal
Alan's Deal:

You were with Mike at the Office, and that was perhaps the only good thing that you could really say about the whole thing. There were quite a few things that were here, but you knew that Mike was going to be instrumental in helping out with many things about to happen.

Yet you wanted to listen with the metaphorical devil on your shoulder this time. George wasn't here to be an angel. And honestly, you didn't want him to be here for this.

"Alright Alan. We're here, and we're waiting on that deal." You said.

Alan was waiting, but he was also taking in the room, trying to find the correct words that he needed. But then he just sighed. "Well, seems I won't be able to win this one in the way I desire."

"How so?" Mike asked.

Alan leaned in. "Well there is always the simple fact that the strike has left me with almost no options to work with, the entire film industry is shut down except for the studio that is run by mavericks, who think they know better. And honestly, with that kind of arrogance…" There was a smile. "I wouldn't bet against it."

"Meaning?" You asked.

"I'll cut to the chase then." Alan then leaned back. "My company has a few scripts, and we have been trying to gather a certain amount of people under contract to make them. We don't have money, we don't have time, and now we don't have other studios to turn to to give ourselves leverage."

"Win-win," Mike muttered. "So what is the deal?"

Alan sighed. "We need twenty million dollars to produce our films, and we are offering. 30% of the gross on all the films, producer credits, all that award bait-"

"Make it 50," Mike said. "We don't need to lose in this affair. And what about rights to merchendising and advertising."

"That might not be your call to make." Alan turned to face you.

That was why he wanted you to be here, instead of just facing off against Mike alone. Damn.

What do you do?:

[]Let Mike Work: You're going to let Mike make the moves here, as you don't know how to do this.

[]Make a counteroffer (Linetail your offer below this one)

[]Accept Alan's Offer: Something tells you that this is going to work out.

AN: enjoy.

[X]Let Mike Work: You're going to let Mike make the moves here, as you don't know how to do this.

At this point in time, I've decided to just follow through with the classic "In Mike we Trust".

Bring it Magose 🎲!

Watch me cry in the corner when they screw us over.

EDIT Choice:
[X]Make a counteroffer (Linetail your offer below this one)
-[X]Tell Mike to go easy on Alan: Let Mike handle this, but privately tell him not to be too harsh on Alan. Get a good deal, but don't burn this bridge.

Honestly, I'm hesitant to pick Mike's option because I'm concerned that it might do some damage to our relationship with Alan, particularly if he specifically wanted us there to temper Mike. I think we should choose to make a counter offer while trying to work our way to a ~40% cut, or at least tell Mike to do so. That way we get good profits but also aren't commiting highway robbery here.

Can we vote:

[X]Tell Mike to go easy on Alan: Let Mike handle this, but privately tell him not to be too harsh on Alan. Get a good deal, but don't burn this bridge.

This is a business deal not a coffee chat and we have a commanding positions so lets take the best terms possible, and if we must we can renegotiate later.

Just to be an arse have this:

[X] 40% gross, no movie comes out before Star Wars, and right of first refusal on all projects for the next 20 years

This is why we brought Mike into the company. Let the man do his job.
The last thing we want is to undermine him now.

The age old question, to let Mike cook or not.
