Learning to fly a Gyrocopter seems like one of those things to delegate to an actual pilot, though it is unclear to me what the mechanical effect of having a dedicated pilot would be.
We need a Human (or Halfling) pilot to have the Gyro on standby at virtually all times. But such a pilot would be vulnerable to having their minds, souls or bodies messed with between or during flight as an attack or act of sabotage on Mathilde/WEB-MAT. So a pilot with magical training and ability is preferable. The options boil down to Mathilde herself, a member of WEB-MAT (with functioning eyes), Adela who is into engineering and adventuring with Mathilde, or a new Perpetual Apprentice of any College of Magic that's introduced into the story for exactly this purpose.
I am also not super invested in the book selection, was just curious how it was handled by the thread.
By my understanding there's two types of book priorities. There's books people want because they give directly applicable knowledge and a +X bonus to actions that they expect we'll take in the following turn (or one after that) and there's books people want Mathilde to have sooner rather than later for more general reasons, like because it contains knowledge they want Mathilde to be exposed to or because they think it is the kind of stuff that a library like ours should have. Usually the former type wins votes and when there is nothing pressing then whatever got high on the tally last time around is likely to get bought.
The "Backfill" option is a new one that exists for three turns now and hasn't been taken yet. That's the option for anyone who doesn't care about getting specific books in any given turn, because it gives the largest amount, but doesn't allow for control and can't get us books on topics we don't already have books on. On a purely mechanical it increases +X boni we already have access to (and therefore evidently care about to some degree) while on a narrative level it makes the Library actually be extensive and worth visiting on all the subjects it covers instead of risking scattershot that forces scholars to travel between it and other libraries for a truly comprehensive picture.
She wouldn't be part of WEB-MAT. She would be a pilot. We could probably spend actions to work with her on something, but it wouldn't be a WEB-MAT action.
Small nitpick: She would not be part of WEB-MAT's research staff that Mathilde directs on a turn by turn basis. She would be part of WEB-MAT's wider staff and have her salary in that regard taken care of by the Colleges.
I used to have an ex-catholic flatmate who was convinced I ate fish, despite being vegetarian, because "fish are not meat." Trying to explain to her that yes, fish are meat and I don't eat them was an uphill struggle.
To be fair, pescetarians who call themselves vegetarians exist even outside Christianity.

Also in the RPG the GM secretly rolls the 1d10 the first time you get a mutation, so you've got no idea what your max limit of mutations is—did he roll a 1? A 10? Nobody knows! Better stay below your TB in mutations just in case!

Also a TB of 5 is very high—the human average is 3, and the dwarf average is 4.

In the classic warhammer TB 5 is indeed a pretty high score, reserved mostly for monsters and really tough characters. In the RPG it is much less rare. With career advances to stats basically any human adventurer will achieve TB 4 (everyone and their mother has T+10% in their advancement scheme) and a lot of melee fighting careers will eventually reach TB 5. With better-than-average starting stat, melee career focused on staying power and +5 Toughness talent you can reach TB 6 (7 for dwarfs) without mutations, magic or anything else of this sort (TB 8 in extreme cases, like Daemon Slayers). Good luck finding such specimens in the wargame!

They have a vested interest at stopping the guys who have them listed as Future Collateral Damage along with all their friends and family.
Criminals cheat at the game and occasionally murder another player. Chaos wants to set fire to the game board, the game pieces, and everybody playing it, and then subject the building it's being played in to concentrated anti-tank fire.

A brief recap, in case someone is wondering about the vote flip but not enough to read how it happened, word of Boney is that Warrior of Fog does not apply here at all, whereas Night Prowler coin is expected to pull overtime on patrols, relevant posts here and here.

The major application for Night Prowler that I see being possible here is "herding" Alberich: if the Taalite patrols are concentrated in various areas, Mathilde (and Regimand, using his general Grey sneakiness) can plug the gaps and hopefully mousetrap Alberich as he dodges the Longshanks, since he would focus on avoiding the manhunt and try to take routes where he wouldn't be noticed. What seems like sparsely-populated space with nobody in it can sprout a Grey Wizard out of nowhere, and that probably wins the day for us.

Seems more like it will do basically nothing if Mathilde actually does patrol, considering it would make sense to use her Shadowsteed in that scenario which would nullify it. So basically it would come into play if she picks an area she thinks he's likely to pass by and prepares to ambush him there.

In which case, why choose the entire city to roll the dice in rather than a choke point like the tunnels?

This is a strategy that feels neat sure. But seems astonishingly unlikely to actually do much when you consider the size of the city he has to work with, along with the issue we have no idea where in it he's starting from. And that only two possibles zones to bait could be made.

I also just don't think it's what Mathilde is going to do with that option, it straight out says she's going to patrol, not set up a mouse trap. She doesn't even have authority to alter patrol patterns.

So there is a tie and both options have a benefit and downside. The Longshanks has the coin meaning if Mathilde finds him she will get a free hit. Downsize is she has to roll to find him. The Hunter lord is she should hear what happens and be able to act as a quick reaction force. Downside is she is reacting.
 
I feel like being on the ground with the longshanks is also likely to build our dammerlichter rep.

Here's my reason for staying with the Hunter Lord—if we try to anticipate where he goes, and we're wrong, we're going to be way out of position and will be slow to get to his actual location. If we stay with the Hunter Lord however, we'll be able to jump to the correct position from a central observation point.

Counterpoint: If the right spot is the hunting lodge because he pulled a smart move and went for the replacement option, no one will be in position.
 
I do think the people that mentioned the problems with Hunter Lord do have a point. Alberich seems to have both Musk and Hypnotic Gaze, and it's pretty likely he has the Lore of Slaanesh which further has other manipulation spells like Acquiescence (paralyse someone with a touch as they smile mindlessly) and Golden Torrent (yellow beam that does the same but higher casting value and indefinite duration until dispelled. The ingredient for the spell is an ounce of urine. Make of that what you will). Possibly the worst one though, is Flesh Puppet. I won't divulge the exact details because I doubt Mathilde has them, but suffice to say that you can't exactly trust the word of those who have come into contact with Alberich if he's a caster.

Personally, I think it adds some spice to the conflict to have him subvert our agents though. We invited all these people to get involved, so the natural consequence is more points of failure as he has more targets to claim.
 
I mean at the end of the day we can only be in one place at one time so while the central positioning has the issue that he might enchant our allies that still requires magic and it is something they can resist. 'Being somewhere else' by contrast requires him to have legs, a minimal amount of luck or skill and nothing will impede him, unless one posits that the Taalites can take him on their own with no help from Mathilde.
 
The thing is no matter what Alberich has to go through some agents to get to his target. Now the thing is Longshanks is patrolling and hoping to get to him right away. If Mathilde finds him she has a great chance to alpha strike him to death. Hunter lord agains is waiting till things go wrong and than going after him. But maybe the witch hunters will surprise me and kill a obviously mutant man who has the backing of a chaos god.
 
I think assuming the nonmagical forces we called up will be completely bypassed isn't really worth considering for either of the leading options. Personally I don't think he can, but it's irrelevant either way. If he can he's almost certainly left days ago and we should vote to head to the spa.

Er... left where? Keep in mind we can see from the threat of the ritual that he is still in the city. We just do not have time to narrow it down in the days we have left. Mind we will have time after he kills the next one, which is part of the reason why I am not arguing that hard right now.

Our last update on that was weeks ago. If as is being suggested, he can simply whammy his way past nonmagical opposition, it would have made perfect sense for him to have done it once it was clear there was a massive manhunt brewing for him, rather than waiting to do said whammying at the last possible moment.

It was not weeks ago it was one week ago, also if he did run the gauntlet early then what? Hide under Alric's nose and hope he does not notice? Albericht has a bolthole, of some kind in the city, he cannot arbitrarily make one just as good at the spa through whatever protections are on there.

The reason to attack at the last moment would be because every moment he is above ground he risks being swarmed by... everyone now that there is a manhunt and they know his face. He can both be able to handle patrols and not want to be out there until he must so that he spends the least time he can out of hiding.
