Definitely separate schisms. There is very little connecting the Norse and Chaos Dwarf schisms. The Norse Dwarves were cut off from the Karaz Ankor around -5500 IC at the start of the Great Incursion as the Underway passages weren't complete enough for movement between the holds and they were isolated as a result. The Chaos Dwarves fell to Hashut around -3900 IC, around 500 years after the end of the Chaos incursion after a lengthy siege by chaotic forces. The source, outcome, time frame and cultural frame work of both schisms are entirely different and couldn't realistically be counted as the same schism.
I had the chronology wrong too, then, I though the Chaos Dwarfs happened before the Norse Dwarfs.

Tbh, I don't even think the Norse Dwarfs can be called a schism. More of a Splintering, due to it's unintentional nature.

There were apparently cultural tensions before then, with the Norse dwarves moving that far north so they could experiment with runecraft in a high magic environment in a way the southern holds disapproved of.

[x] Pay a visit to your fief, to see if anything has changed. It probably hasn't.

At this point I do not think anyone, even the dwarfs actually have a solid read on what the politics of the Karaz Ankor in the days before the Second Chaos Incursion looked like. I do not care how obsessive they are, no one is going to have solid historical records over that span of time for something that ephemeral.

That said intentional or no there was a schism. They no longer answered to the same political hierarchy.

To be fair, Pan made drugs. That doesn't mean she does them.
Angels appreciate alliteration ;)

Turn 24, in the year 2481.5. This was about three and a half years since the last time we were there, and it's now been about five and a half years. Personally, my preferred rate of visitation is "once every five years or so," so I'm gonna keep voting for it until it wins.
Can I convince you to wait until we have our tricked-out gyrocarriage? Their reaction to Sir Weber arriving in style should be entertaining.

You know, I don't have a problem with the social action but I don't understand why it's happening now.

Thorek is going to show up and... what? Have a look around and then leave again? We haven't yet finished gathering everybody or taken the action to have the big meeting where everyone throws their Waystone knowledge in the pot. I'm not at all clear what Thorek is actually going to do in Tor Lithanel! Is it just a show that "yes, we actually have Runelord support" to build confidence?

Huh... they did not have Snorri Klausson, then.
/undwarf
Snorri would have been one of those Dwarfs. Radicals by their nature.

Maybe there's an argument to be made that the Runesmiths Guild is the way it is today because all/if not a majority of their most radical members probably went north and when they got cut off the argument for the rest of the Realms very quickly shifted because there wasn't as even a split as there is in something like the Engineers Guild.

Course that's all speculation on my part.

Would have made Norse Dwarf integration even MORE fun if it succeeded beyond just what happened in Canon. Two wholly different Runesmiths Guilds, one forged by the most radical Members who made the trek north and ones forged by those who remained combining and dealing with millennia of cultural drift and changes in practice!

Too bad they all died :^(

You assume the dwarf runelord is going to take cues from what must to him look like a child, a child savant true, but still absurdly young. It could be that he is going to go right to the nearest waytree and start pocking it.

Turn it around. I expect he's always busy and has no time to waste, so he would want to show up when everything has been prepared for him to begin work and not before. I mean we don't even have a workshop space for him or a guide to take him to waytrees and answer whatever questions he wants to ask.

Would he actually assume we could make a workshop to his specifications? From what we understand of dwarfs they want to make their own workshops, Kragg certainly did in K8P.

The elves of Laurelorn probably know how big a deal a Runelord is, being a secular, religious, and craft leader all rolled into one. High Priest, Guild Master, and grandmaster of runesmithing.

He's also centuries old, which may mean that the elves respect him more off the bat than they would Mathilde. I wouldn't count on it, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he's welcomed as a state dignitary, and those who might be his peers, High Priests and Archmages, come to welcome him. Or at least look at him.

Thorek is obvious.
Qrech hasn't had story presence in ages and proud skaven is cool.
Belegar is a friend and I want to look more at the side of loremastery we ignored totally.
Middenland to keep up on weird elf situations.
The architects because floorplans floorplans floorplans.
Schmoozing with our hosts is important.

Edit: I have been convinced that Belegar is not time-sensitive.

Apologies if this has been asked since the update, I only have a limited time to go through the thread today, but I find myself missing Panoramia. I assume we don't have altogether that much to talk about to justify a social action, but she is very nice and was really helpful for Johann so I wanted to check in.

Generally social actions have to involve some action for the GM to write about. Just checking in can be assumed to be happening in the background I think.
