On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

No more bloody commissions for a while please. I think we have had enough of those for now. This is the second turn where we have no actions to spare because we are making common items with no story to speak of and all because we want the priesthood of the healer goddess to be armored. Admirable and all but favor aside does this really need Snori?

I'm very much against accepting the commission. Any of them. We already have a full plate and I want to do some more metal research.

I'd put the runes of holding and repair on hold too, as we are giving those out, so others can research those too.

Are people actually intending to do five straight turns of just research? Because from what I can tell most of the commission plans put forward so far only plan to complete about a turn to a turn and a half of commissions over the five turn time period from turns forty-three to forty-seven.

Like even with a theoretical commission or two with overkill accounted for that's pretty heavily skewed in research's favor to the point where it evens out the commissions to research action ratio from doing all the cult commissions it even allows us to complete all the important research such as Eltharin, Akazit, Odd Places, and The Secrets of Light.

I am, at least.

We have an oath to figure out runic prosthetic eyes, preferably asap. We may have combat incoming. And we want T5 metal at some point or other, which will likely involve alchemy and eltharin in the process. It's going to take awhile.

Eyes would be done, alchemy and eltharin would be done, we'd clear off a bit of extra research from elsewhere and would still have the action flexibility needed to go on campaign. Plus in the long run, we should also be net positive from the cult action so long as its standing nine/ten rewards are as good as the standing nine/ten rewards from other people, places, and institutions although the other commissions not so much but they are more interesting so at least they have that going for them.

In the near future, we would need to just complete the defenses of the tunnels under our workshop/satellite town. Other than that, maybe get the last of Yorri's spot investigated. We honestly have had that for 4 centuries now😅.

Rest of it should be used to get the T5 Gromril and prolly a few of the really good materials down. If the Suneater Brain goes good, we might be able to set up a new Mythic Item. That would be better than any basic commission we can pick up.

And I am totally behind getting the Gromrilklad thing, but after the revised rewards are clear so that we don't have a effort/result mismatch. I guess it won't just disappear next turn even if we tell them about our plans.

Still, the situation had meant Lord Thuringar and many of the settlement's elders had come to her looking for a commission or two. In turn she'd been pumping out more and more Runic equipment. She hadn't lowered her prices in response, it was simply something she expected herself to be capable of.
@soulcake
This should be "...hadn't raised her prices in response..." since increased demand for a product corresponds to a higher price, not a lower one.

Or daughteru decided that given increased amount of commissions, she may price them at lower point without endangering her trial. And for why would she do that, it is because she wants to help this starting settlement as her Master once did

Then that would have made her not changing the price a negative instead of a positive.

The implication I got was that a lowered price implied her mass production would lead to less quality. And like Snorri, she didn't make 3 mediocre axes for one good axe, she made three good axes in the time of one good axe from someone else.

I interpret "...it was simply something she expected herself to be capable of" to roughly mean 'sure there's more work but it's not anything a capable runesmith couldn't handle. raising prices at such a simple thing would be admitting defeat.'

I have to ask: Why is Otrek already dying when Snorri is so much older than him and is still going strong? Is Otrek so grievously wounded that he cant sustain his life anymore? Or is it something about runecraft that extends a dwarf's life like Kragg the Grim?

Runesmiths live for much much longer than other dwarfs on the average.
