I'm sort of curious what the careers of our co-apprentices look like. Are we "winning" as court wizard to a dwarfhold, wielder of the staff of mistery, one of the minds behind the honest-to-gods Eye of Gazul, dammerlichteriter, and so on and so forth?

Shallow sort of thought and judgement to make, feel free to ignore me.

Phew, nice that all the bad rolls got tanked by the paper. Though it'll be funny if in the future people look back and are like "We only gave this a pity favor jot? How little we knew..."

I was about to ask for a Regimand and Melkoth option under 'Fellow Wizards' until I saw right at the bottom
- Melkoth and Regimand will be attending Duckling Club.
:D
But I kind of still want more. Preen over library! Introduce Mathilde's Master to Kragg! See if Belegar has a "This is getting out of hand. Now there are two three of them!" reaction to something the Grey Wizards get up to. Possibly show off 'primary source' if they're cleared for that.

What few historical records there are agree that Mourkhain was founded by the Lodringen tribe, so why were they commemorating a Nehekharan King on their coinage? Did they take in Nehekharan refugees? Did Alcadizzar escape the fate of his homeland and spend time in Mourkhain? You put the matter aside as something to investigate in the unlikely event you ever have more time than you have things to do.

Well always nice to see an update before I go to bed! I'll vote when I wake up of course so good night to you all! Also @BoneyM I admire your dedication to naming so many of Setra's titles(But not all of them) and find it absolutely hilarious so please never stop doing so!

As for romance. Johann is willing to wheel in frozen warbosses for us. Anton is willing to rules-lawyer that nobody ever said a wizard couldn't be a knight. Cython invited themselves on a second date at our house. Roswita writes dissertations on how you can hurt vampires with taxes.

And Panoramia... - e x p a n d s - p l a n t - , I guess.

Imagine them without any romance; who do you want getting more words on the screen? Johann already gets a lot. The thread likes him. Anton gets almost none, sadly; proximity is a factor. We love poking the dragon, and as a new relation there's still a lot of interest in the thread for them. The quest keeps going back to Sylvania to help Roswita out.

I like most of them, but Johann is looking like a likely pick, and likely to reciprocate.
I thought Ranald was a fairly young god all things considered?
Fancy deception god probably has a new face from time to time. His military advisor is Alith Anar, though, so if all the trickster gods are just doing hot-seat gameplay and constantly switching out nobody would ever notice.

This is probably what my initial vote will look like

[ ] [ROMANCE] The Ice Dragon of Karag Zilfin

I like how this romance would feel, a romance of mind and magic, a dance of light and shadow.

[ ] Eike Hochschild, to get to know your future business partner.

We really should get to know the kid given how much influence she sis going to have over the EIC eventually.

[ ] Sir Ruprecht Wulfhart, leader of the frontier town of Ulrikadrin.

If we are going to Hell with the man the least we can do is catch up with him

[ ] Stirland, to see for yourself how the war against Sylvania is progressing.

Curious how this is going, and hopeful we will get to see the end of it before setting off north.

This is sometimes referred to as Earthbound Magic as small amounts of it can be drawn out of almost any mundane object, and this undifferentiated magical energy is believed to be what allows for witches, hedge wizards, the Hedgewise, and Elementalists to create magics that don't align with the Teclisean model.
... I wonder if this is related to what Dwarf Runes do and how they work?
It's also believed to power the Runes of the Dwarves, which take in whatever Wind is available and somehow break it down into undifferentiated magic, which would be believed impossible to do in large quantities if the Dwarves weren't so clearly doing it.
Hah! The very next sentence...
Using one Wind to manipulate another is a fairly well-established idea, albeit in the form of Necromancy. What about using a Wind to manipulate itself? Can a larger spell create localized Skywalk at enough of a distance to keep the small amount of energy from being influenced by the much larger amount that the spell as a whole would be made of?
Huh, weird thought. Using the Wind to manipulate itself. I don't think anybody had brought up that sort of idea before. After all, why would you bring it up? Isn't all magic-usage, the manipulation of a Wind, after all? But hmm.

Wonder what using Ulgu to manipulate Earthbound magics would result in.
By the end of it you've got it down to eleven concatenated symbols and you're no longer entirely sure why it works.
\o/ Yay!
and you're no longer entirely sure why it works.
Erm. 😅
That last one causes an itch of familiarity at the back of your mind and it takes you some time to realize why, and upon comparing the Nehekharan coins depicting Alcadizzar to the Mourkhainian ones with the unknown face, you find they're as identical as the quality of the coinage could reasonably permit.
Huh, I wonder how that happened? Did Alcadizzar get turned undead, as backlash from being at ground zero of the ritual of Nagash's that he was disrupting? Did somebody possess his corpse? Or bodyjack him? Did somebody raise him from the dead? Or is it just a descendant who looks almost like him? Or did they get a huge cache of Alcadizzar coins and decide to use them? Weird.
Apart from the odd sense of familiarity that the Nehekharan coins depicting a hooded snake cause you, the rest of the cataloguing is uneventful
Ulgu? Ranald?
Any victors from the below will trigger a subvote for how you'll spend time with them. Choosing once of these will represent a first tentative expression of romantic interest.
One? Or something?

For the social vote: is picking Qrech, to see how his collegiate studies have been going, a viable choice?

Well that looks promising. Using Ulgu to cast skywalk a step removed. Thereby using Ulgu 'tong' on Ulgu.

Thats a good sign for potentially being able to do it with other winds.

@Garlak

It was brought up earlier in the thread as a idea to precursor test if ulgu tongs was theoretically viable.

[ ] [ROMANCE] Baron Anton Kiesinger II
Box of genuine shadows!
[ ] Kasmir, to see how he's keeping himself busy in Sylvania.
it's been too long since we talked with Kasmir.
[ ] Eike Hochschild, to get to know your future business partner.
Let's make sure she doesn't only learn from her grandma.
[ ] Pay a visit to your fief, to see if anything has changed. It probably hasn't.
Let's see what our steward has been up to, I doubt it's been nothing if only because the option is there :)

My preference is still with Panoramia. She's the one that gets Mathilde, she's fun to hang out with, and I think that she has the best chance of keeping up with Mathilde in the very long term both professionally and personally.

I know that some people think that Panoramia is "no fun" or something, but I see it very differently. Imagine that your primary source of amusement was telling really, really awful puns. Now imagine that nobody ever got them. It'd suck, right? Never getting the payoff. Panoramia doesn't just get the pun, she makes a production out of groaning and chasing Mathilde with a newspaper. She's not actually angry! She's actually quite amused! But she knows that Mathilde needs people to acknowledge her genius and she's willing to play along because it's fun.

Look at how sad Mathilde was when nobody got the "Staff of Mistery" pun:
"Behold," you say proudly, "the Staff of Mistery!"

The other Wizards regard the proferred staff politely. "What's the mystery?" Hubert asks.

"Whether Shard Dragons are really dragons or not, I suppose," you say, waggling it a bit.

"That's some really intricate runework," Maximilian says. "May I?"
She didn't gloat about the pun at all. Panoramia regularly saves Mathilde from the disappointment of her genius going unacknowledged.

Secondarily, Cython.

I rarely return here because this thread moves darn fast at times but uh:
[ ] Kasmir, to see how he's keeping himself busy in Sylvania.
Can I implore you folks to go and visit Kasmir after all these times? He's the last of the Old Council that we haven't met - whose options are given anyway - yet and we left him out of the social loop last turn.

Can we get options to social the dragon without romance? I would like to interact with the dragon more, but I don't want to go down the dragon romance route. Right now, it seems like we're forced to do romance just to meet with it.

It's entirely possible but I don't recall it just now. Do you remember what or where those suggestions were?
Did someone say "do you remember a couple of posts from a few weeks ago?"
--Belegar, to discuss the state of the Karag Dum Expedition
(Its people, its route, the locations, the Kislev Ice Witches, maybe mention Asarnil too?)
--Belegar, to discuss about the Northern Dwarves and the Expedition.

How about this? Rather than lock on the expedition make it a conversation about his "distant cousins" (no familiar tie). After all we are going in a rescue mission (at least in Mathilde's mind aka the Thread) so it should be reasonable to be curious about them.
1) Speaking with Belegar about how he feels now that Karak Eight Peaks is fully reclaimed and now that there isn't a Karak-wiping Waaagh coming to erase all of his victories.

He is no longer the beggar-king, but truly and completely victorious and vindicated.

I feel we the readers have got short-changed for such a scene of Belegar's catharsis, with the completion of the crown only a tantalizing glimpse of such a scene.

(Belegar's Crown also gave him increased strength, has it changed him.in other ways that he has and hasn't noticed?)

2) Belegar's current important plans/ambitions.

Most of his life, he was either preparing for the reconquest expeditions, actually being on them and leading them, and finally struggling to complete the reclamation.

Now what?

3) Belegar marriage and family. How is his clan holding up? Is he planning to marry? Does he have some dilemmas regarding marriage?

4) Belegar and non-dawi

His private thoughts on halflings, Undumgi, Ulrikadrin? It is one thing to be in the same army on a campaign, and a completely another to live as neighbours for years.

EDIT: I remembered one other option.

5) Belegar and his dawi supporters:

Minor Dawi holds compromised their personal defences just to give him enough siege weapons for the expedition.
Other New Dwarf Holds also supported him, Barak Varr did as well.
Karak Azul both vowed to never be cut off again, fought and bled alongside him multiple times, even when faced with potential extinction from Birdmuncha Waaagh, gave him massive amounts of steel for free.
Kragg swore to die before letting K8P fall and elected to stay there.

How does he fall about it all, especially as a contrast to KaK actions? Did he offer restitution to some of them (the minor dwarf holds e.g.)

What is his relationship to other non-KaK Dwarfs?
*breezes back out to work on his social turn effortpost*
