I really want a follow-up with Panoramia after that conversation. Should be fun to read.

I'm just so disappointed in Panoramia here. Sure, it might sound intimidating, but aren't some of her worst agricultural problems with orc spores? You know who probably hates orc spores and would be totally into purging them in their entirety from this Karak? That's right, it's Gazul. Not only does Mathilde want to help out with her problems, Mathilde has gotten a god to come help with her problems. Just incinerate the most problematic fields with light-devouring divine shadowflames, and then crop yields will be way better after replanting. Everyone is pitching in to make this work.

And she says no. Such timidity. Such rudeness. She brings shame upon her College.

[X] DUCK: Adela's interested in mechanics, see if anyone you can introduce her to would be willing to teach her.
[x] DUCK: Johann's investigation into the ratling gun has hit a wall. See if you can help.

It would be a sin for Grey Wizard to have an obviously fortified entrance.

[X] DUCK: Johann's investigation into the ratling gun has hit a wall. See if you can help.
[X] DUCK: Help Johann try to raise his new rat-wolf pups. With Wolf, if he's willing.

I want him helping on our own backlog of Skaven weaponry soon.

Given that the Steel Rod is inarguably part of the tower and that it stretches from the top of the tower to the bottom of the mountain we can probably now argue that our tower is the tallest tower in the world. Ulthuan included.
The really really impressive thing that's kinda understated about all this is that it is all one mountain sized Steel Rod.

The dwarves literally seem to have made a giant pole of steel as tall as a mountain.

Ah, silly me. Now I know why I was feeling underwhelmed at what Kragg had done. I was expecting some sort of esoteric addition, when I forgot that the statement was literally to amplify the effects, ergo empower what it already did.

It sounds silly, but I feel better now.

Partially because it's interesting and something she can do on her own time, partially because I want us to run after her with a different proposition only for her to assume the worst and keep running.

Yeah, she's off the waifu list for me. At least plant a test field!

(@Fanhunter696, be advised that your vote was misformatted; it needs to be "Bath Room", not just "Bath", to be counted in the correct bucket.)

Let's remember that Adela came here to earn the right to learn engineering through her own merits. And she has just proven her worth in open battle against orcs on the reclamation.

The Adela action isn't something new, it's just speeding up the inevitable, as that's precisely the very action she traveled all the way to the edge of civilization to do.

Otoh, pups grow fast, and the backlog should be trimmed at every opportunity, especially when the results hold incredible potential by themselves.

They're doing their best to make it logistically harder for Mathilde to peace out with all her stuff a decade or two from now haha.

"Well I was gonna just enchant the tower and fly it off to Lustria, but given it's literally anchored to the ground I guess I can stick around..."

We just have to figure out how to make a mountain fly.

How are literal flames of Dwarf Underworld and Gazul potentially playing at a world scariest doorman to the Tower anything but esoteric effects?

Karak Azul, aka the hold founded and named for its iron mines, does not fuck around.

Three thousand years of unending stockpiling tally up to an "Yes" amount of steel.

[Teacher quality: 65]

[Enchantment fundamentals: Learning, Req 60, 12+26+15(teacher)+10(Enchanter)=63.]

Hmm, if we get a +15 for an above-average rolled teacher, it might be better to just build our Favor back up and buy a powerstone for study in our +20 bonus Tower of Doom instead of going to the College for instruction in the art.

There is no other choice really.

To be fair, Powerstone stuff I would say is absolutely "In-House study" material. It's too capable of causing headaches to let outside the College's walls.

Just like how we almost certainly cannot risk learning Battle Magic outside the College.

(That being said, hoo fucking boy, even learning Battle Magic is very much an "All hands on deck, deploy all resources" thing. DC 100 for the easiest one to learn, and it was basically 50/50 about a Miscast. It's safer now but still, yeah, you don't fuck around with Battle Magic and Smoke and Mirrors alone opens up enormous new vistas in Mathilde's ability to ruin people's day)

@BoneyM

I guess higher Magic ratings would reduce the DC of successfully casting Battle Magic?

I mean, if Magic itself agrees the mountain counts, who's to say no?

Changed my mind on the vault. Our possessions should be fine until next turn when we excavate more rooms. More important that in the six months until then Mathilde gets easy access to baths.
