So we know a lttle more than before, but I honestly have more questions now. I mean it could be that her sister was conned by a fake grief manipulator and witched out due to that and that's why she's hunting them down like this, but we'd really need more information, that we're unlikely to get at the moment, since she just attacked us.
She raises a hand and twists it, and you feel the magic surging, but- nothing. Rionna's scowl deepens. Outside your interdiction bubble, Mami stiffens ever so slightly, alert and tense.
She also did something Mami was able to notice even outside of the bubble.

It's aliiiiiive!

On a more serious note, my biggest question is whether Rionnnnnnna tried to shade us or if she tried to mind-control us into letting her go. One of those is much worse than the other, though neither are what I would call "friendly action."

Edit: and it looks like I missed Firn's post. Silly me.

Now we know what motivates Rionna.

Vengeance and hatred.

We know that Rionna is capable of mind-controlling still-living people and will use it on people who are just talking to her.

She is every inch the unrepentant killer she revealed herself to be when she bragged about ripping people's souls out kicking and screaming.

So, who is going to try to continue to excuse her actions?

Alright, show's over. She outright attacked us.

[ ] Vaporize Rionna. Avoid direct soul contact if possible. Try to keep her gem intact if possible.
[ ] Contact Mami, request timestop ASAP.
[ ] Discuss the situation in timestop with Homura, Mami, and Sayaka.
I think it's quicker to get timestop than vaporize (or engaging at all) Riona. And worse, Riona may realize if we do the latter and react accordingly (and I believe she'll react faster than us)

[ ] Call Mami for an emergency timestop meeting.
[ ] On timestop, make sure the whole group (Homura, Mami and Sayaka) is in the meeting
[ ] Discuss the situation in timestop with Homura, Mami, and Sayaka.

We are not in combat.

Yes, Riona feels cornered by the privacy bubble and tried to use magic to get out. She didn't try to kill us, nor actually hurt us.

She shouldn't have tried to use magic like that, much less in a tense situation, but she didn't try to hurt us. She didn't attack us in such a way.

Reprehensible, yes, hostile enemy action, no.

What Riona tried to do is not nice, not good, and horrible and morally wrong in many people's views, but for her, she's just tried to get out.

Just like for normal people in a normal world, the mind is a sanctuarry, yet if someone could read minds, most people would feel horribly offended, but for that person, reading minds is the normal thing, is what they are.

Riona is a reclusive soul controller, and using jedi mind tricks to deal with Social might very well be something she just does because it's natural to her.

It's not right.

It's also not enemy action. Do not blow up. Do not apply your own morality wholesale over her actions without question, don't do what she does.

We can use this. We can argue that she did wrong and needs to compensate for it - at least, that she's proved herself too dangerous to go around freely. We can keep her confined, her trying to use magic on us is actually a helpful thing! It gives us ammunition, social ammunition.

Use this.

It's aliiiiiive!

These are great, dude. Thank you! I've added them to the fanart index.

And that said - no, she didn't try to turn you into a Shade. That would have been, uh. More noticeable.

In our inevitable Time-stop meeting, should we include Oriko and Kirika? We 100% need to have Homu, Mumi, and Seikyuu, but I'm far less sure about O and K.

Preeeetty sure Rionna just tried to mind control us. Which means the gloves come off - we're in a combat scenario, and that means no more diplomacy.

So she tried to mind-control us, but all she tried to mind-control us to do is *letting her go*? Rather than say "kill yourself" or "become my slave"?

No, "the gloves come off" still feels to me as if we're trying to find an excuse to attack her, when such is NOT yet necessary, and it has instead just been proven by her failure to NOT be necessary. When she just finally opened up a bit to us.

We should definitely warn her, however, that if she even attempts to mind-control us again, THEN the gloves will come off. She will have to *negotiate* for her departure, not mind-control us into it.

Dudes just end the meeting and let her go on her merry way. Just because everything can be fixed doesn't mean everything can be fixed in a single day or we're the ones who can fix it.

[X]Barring a means of storming the afterlife, you're right. Most I can do right now is give you a means to punish the architect instead of the pawns.
-[x]If you didn't know, KB does what it does to stave off the heat death of the universe, with the suffering caused by the witch transformation leading to immense energy yields. It is the only thing KB can be said to care about. Mass production of my power means no more witches. Ever.

We let her go

We have nothing for her, she has nothing for us, and i don't want to deal with her territory or the fallout of gemming her

I'm not trying to say she hasn't done bad things. Simply that dealing with her at this point is something I don't want to do

Well shit. If Mura thinks I'm overreacting, I probably am.

But... even if we do release her, surely we can't just "let her go on her merry way"? At the very least we need to warn her away from doing more mind-whammy shit to anyone else in Mitakihara, right?

Tentative direction I want to go:

[] Promise to ler her go soon.
-[] Because you're sick of this meeting, of her. Not because she's asking.

[] But first:
-[] Call her out. On everything. Trying to use magic on you, threatening you, baiting you, arriving unnanounced, everything.
-[] Get her to agree to concessions, as many as you can get:
--[] Priority: Arrange another meeting before she leaves (morning?).
--[] She'll stay confined within this room for the duration of her stay.
--[] She'll answer questions, now or at that later meeting:
---[] What does our Soul look like?
---[] What can she tell us about Clear Seeds, after studying them.
---[] Consult on Wish Rejection (Oriko; maybe also Kyouko).
---[] Check the Feather?
---[] How the fuck is her name spelled.

[] Once Riona agrees to everything you can get her to, warn her to behave and dismiss the Privacy Sphere.

[] Hold back the Mami hugs.
[] Get out. Timestop meeting. Mami hugs.
[] Get Sayaka, Oriko and Kirika. This is important.
[] Ask Kirika to make Anti Magic Enchantments for our group's use.
[] Explain everything that can be explained about what just happened.

We might want a timestop meeting, and then I'd like Kirika to use that non-time to make us some Anti Magic Enchants.

So... if this was no-powers AU, it looks like she did the equivalent of trying to shove past us to get out the door. Maybe shoving forcefully to leave us on our ass if we weren't metaphorically braced. Now, certainly shoving is not nice, and definitely rather rude, but shoving us in this case is probably not indicative that she shoves people all the time.

Everyone, keep in mind this is a story.

And the person writing it had Sabrina just not even react to Riona's attempt. Riona's magic wasn't described as an instant action we couldn't react to.

It was something we didn't need to react to. We're safe from it. This is how the scene reads to me.

She also did something Mami was able to notice even outside of the bubble.
Mami is awesome.

My problem ith letting her go is the backlash we'd get from our friends. I can't really see Sayaka being, well, apathetic about the Riona buisness, not to mention Mumi and Homu. I still think a timestop meeting is the way to may, and we can try and convince everyone to let her go.

If we can convince the others, then I'd be on board with coming back to deal with her once we have more of an orginazation, more partners, and actually can help her.

We're opening her up it bit, does need a warning before letting her go to sleep for the day/night until the next day.
About the time stop meeting do we need Sayaka for it? She may be better but her perspective is black and white.

[] Get Sayaka, Oriko and Kirika. This is important.
We should bring in Tsuruya, she would have ideas in how to handle Riona's type of hated considering her experience.
