Or the part where Grey Wizards are forbidden from meddling in Empire politics outside of the effects of knifing highly placed Chaos cultists/spies/mundane traitors/Lahmians/vampire agents?
If Mathilde weren't allowed to become countess or markgraf she wouldn't be getting offered those jobs. Start with "Mathilde is allowed to become a high ranking aristocrat" and figure out why, rather than "Mathilde isn't allowed to become a high ranking aristocrat" and figure out why thread participants think she is.

I think the Articles state that loyalty to the Empire is above loyalty to the Order, so if the assassinations do benefit the Empire as a whole, the Grey Order has no standing to criticize those actions.

Well, then. That was a fun read, with quite a few ups and a couple of downs.

Excellent quest, @BoneyM. Just spent the last month reading through the thread and I've thoroughly enjoyed reading about Mathilde's exploits in the Empire and Karak Eight Peaks. I especially liked the way you've kept the title of the quest relevant to Mathilde without it being overbearing. The character interactions have all been wonderful to read, and while I'm not as bothered about the romance part as others, I think it's been handled very tastefully so far.

Ah, and the lore building! *chef's kiss* One of my favourite parts of these quests is the exploration of the lore.

The pace of this thread has also given me nostalgic flashbacks to the Paths of Civilization thread, albeit with less salt mines and boat discussions :V

Well Mathilde actually has the expertise and resources to actually have a good chance to cleanse the land. She also would have access to the waystone sun Sylvania which would she would technically be in charge of. Also it seems fitting for her to finish what her dead first boss wanted to do.
Still vampires. Still work to be done. We are a Stirlander by birth, so we have a grudge. And, it's in the relative neighborhood, so we're not going to lose touch entirely with everyone we know now, but we will get back in touch with other people from earlier in the quest.
Ehhh.

Mathilde lived more of her adult life outside of Stirland than in. And on resources and knowledge, that also applies to all the other job oppprtunities.

So consider me not convinced. Seems like it would be too much.

Eh, Kasimir seems to already have that handled. Also seems too minor when Ranald is right there. Really interesting lore though, I agree.

[X] The Waystone Project
Dorf Quest! It's huge in terms of potential. And probably required efforts.

[X] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks
Wandering troublestabber upping Belebro's prestige.

[X] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland
Noice. I like the dramatic irony involved in this choice. The no inheritance part would usually be a con, but Mathilde lacks a dynastic heir, and this seems unlikely to change.

[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred
Ranaldite Emperor go!

I would like to note that talking to wood elves for the waystone project, even if they are the wrong sort, would probably offer some insight into the whole Gods in weird places thing. Or maybe even what we saw at Karag Dum...

For me personally, the only thing interesting in any of the Stirland/Sylvania choices would be getting our Sunken Palace back. And we can't even get that in the Sylvania side unless we find/make another one, which just would not be the same.
