I might have found a teensy tiny inconsistency.
Priestess Fidelia (Esmerelda),

Chaplain Kasmir Heinz (Stirland),
One cleric has their god's name in brackets, the other their current place of employment.
Swamp Town, being number 4, will definitely be an option in the ensuing poll vote. Loremaster-at-Large, number 7, is much more dicey. So if people vote for Swamp Town on the theory of 'even if I wouldn't actually choose it, I want to spend time and wordcount learning about it' and it ends up cutting off my boring yet practical preference from the running, I'd be real sad.
I'm pretty damn sure that even if Loremaster-At-Large doesn't get investigated now, BoneyM will not say something along the lines of "too little too late" if we want to vote for it as our job after all.
Why are you inventing a scenario where Mathilde inexplicably does this with no research, no prep time, and no assistance, and then coming to me to complain that your suspension of disbelief clashes with this scenario that you have invented entirely by yourself?
Because you (perhaps jokingly?) said " Adoption or sperm donor. Research complete." and I might have taken that too literally, to the point that I started imagining what it means for Imperial culture for it to be considered that obvious and simple.

Fidelia was in the employ of the Cult of Esmerelda, Kasmir was in the employ of Stirland.

I don't know if you've been caught up in myths about Victorian era ignorance or what, but people IRL have known how sex works since forever, and the Empire has an extremely mainstream fertility cult, a bunch of regional cults dedicated entirely to the subject of reproduction and womanhood, and the Jade College. And "how do I get baby without technically doing the sex" is not a difficult question.

While it's entirely possible it would still be on the vote list, I find it highly implausible that it'll fail to get enough votes to investigate and then, with no further evidence, become the top choice.

And honestly I'd be disappointed if that happened, it would feel like absolute peak "mystery-box"ing

To use an example, Belegar wasn't ever going to win the Romance vote, but he extra definitely wasn't going to win the Romance vote after Pan and Mathilde got an adorable dinner date and hike.

'A lot of people' has so far just been, like, one person as far as I can tell. :V

Personally I'm hoping for pretty much the opposite, and that options like Tutor and Swamp Town are only so popular because people are curious about what they actually are rather than because so many want to actually do them.

But yes, there's likely to be some kind of shuffle either way. Just look at how the romance vote shifted after the 'first dates'.

The thing is that we won´t know until Boney gives us some more information... Maybe the Swamp Town or the Ranald High Priestess is so interesting that the vote completely shifts... Or not, but we can´t know until we actually get a better description of the job.

but being the 'average' favourite and being the final winner is a very different thing.
Remember that the final vote will also be using approval voting.
Yes, the vote definitely can still change. That's the whole point of the two step voting. But Waystone research is a clear favorite and if I had to bet money I would bet on it.

Depends on the choice. Like, if we were to decide to become a countess or baroness with an inheritable title, I don't see how investigating that first would yield information that we will miss out on or that would have affected our decision when we at the same time did choose to investigate the Markgraf option. I also think that there's little info in the Border Princess option that would have to do without or that would suprise us in a way that makes us regret our choice.

while i don't feel like options will go away.

I think the narrative will be effected.

An easy example will be the difference of votes between Edgelord and Count of Sylvania.

I would not be surprised if Mathy talks about the jobs to Rose, Mathy is going to blatantly show that while Markgraf has gotten her interest, she barely cares about the inheritable titles.

which I imagine will an relief for Rose as Markgraf's are always a gamble for sitting rulers.

I thought Elf Batman was Eltharion the Grim, leader of Yvresse?
They're pretty close in attitude but, for me, Alith Anar being a guerilla-ninja kind of gives him an edge.

Edit:
I'm tempted to compare him to Arrowverse-Arrow because his arrows hit like siege ballistae but I cannot take CW content seriously.
Eltharion is more...like if Goblin Slayer had a sensei.

This vote and the romance vote don't quite share a structure and I expect that the writing goals will also be different. During all the first not-quite-dates BoneyM was deliberately writing pleasant events with lots of characterization and flavor that at the same time were supposed to have as little actual romantic feelings forced into them as possible, to allow for maximum retroactive truth and player agency. Here on the other hand what we get will be the only thing we get before having to make a final decision. So I expect BoneyM to weight the content of the coming chapters more heavily towards actual pros and cons and broad and actionable information.

I was specifically addressing the Loremaster-at-Large option. The overlap between Sylvania options makes a meaningful difference because if we get info on one we inherently get info on both.

The Border Princess option could have all sorts of surprises. For starters: Do we need to politic with the current inhabitants or kill them? If politicking is the order of the day how many lords, counts, princes etc. will we be dealing with?

What level of support would Barak Varr actually offer (some think it'll just be that we can spend cash and favour with them for construction, others that we'll be getting a throng and/or a stipend) and in exchange for what level of control?

Well. It's surprising how high a vote being a spymaster again is getting.

[X] Sinecure
The first possibility, of course, is that you accept the current status quo as a reward for your hard work, rather than a deficiency to be addressed. Belegar will keep finding ways to make use of your talents, and you'll have time and resources enough for your pet projects, as well as still being on hand should something go drastically wrong and need correcting.

[X] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks
Or you could push Belegar to continue sending you afield. He does want to continue to enhance the stature of Karak Eight Peaks in the Karaz Ankor, and what better way to do that than for you to travel it and solve all their strangest problems? It would also mean getting to see every corner of the Dwarven world and encounter all the strangest phenomenon it would have to offer.

[X] Ambassador-at-Large to the Karaz Ankor
An Ambassador is appointed to a single polity, whereas an Ambassador-at-Large has broader rights for many more places. In this case, for the entire Karaz Ankor. A prestigious and important position, and one that might be a stepping stone into even greater positions within the administrative infrastructure of the Empire. You may not be quite as diplomatic as other candidates might be, but you pride yourself on your understanding of Dwarves and your reputation amongst them is, to put it mildly, rather good.

[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred
Though the offer came through the Chamberlain of the Imperial House, this has Heidi's fingerprints all over it. You're not sure if the offer is for exactly what it says or as a cover for beings her catspaw as she plays politics, but either way it would be a position extremely close to the levers of power, and one that would let you have a huge amount of influence over the likely future Emperor.

[X] Governor-General of Swamp Town
This one is an oddity. The others, you can follow the logic as to why it was offered to you, specifically. But why Swamp Town? Are things there so drastic they need a powerful Wizard to get it under control? Is something particularly magical going on there? Has it become a haven for Black Magisters? Whatever the case, if you want mysteries and adventure, there's few places like the New World for encountering both on a regular basis.

[X] Ranaldian High Priest of Kislev
Another one from Heidi, this one more directly. This is a wheel you set in motion yourself, and perhaps it's suitable that you follow it through to the end, resolve the grudge between Ranald and the Gods of Kislev, and establish the worship of your oldest friend in a new land. You did leave quite a few mysteries behind in and around Kislev that you'd quite like to get to the bottom of, and it would be fun to have the undeniable right to attend future Grand Conclaves.

[X] Research Sabbatical
You can't deny that your research projects have been piling up, and it might be nice to take some time off to concentrate on getting through those. But it would mean no immediate challenges to keep you engaged, no employer resources to draw on, and no payroll to keep the Wizards you've gotten used to working with around and focused.

Regarding Lustria, In canon are there any references to Dwarfs outside of the old world? In Total War there is a minor Dwarf faction in the mountains based upon an ambiguous map label, but I've heard nothing other than that.
Bit late, but here's this Word of Boney from a while back. It's not quite full Warhammer canon IIRC but it should apply for this quest, at least.
Kind of a shame it's not Sotek's Spine, but on the other hand, if it was Sotek's Spine there'd be a much greater chance of it having unfriendly encounters with the Dwarves there (if there are Dwarves there.)
The Karaz Ankor had a colony there during their Golden Age, but it's not been heard of since then.

Prioritizing those with options to keep up with the girlfriend.

Can I also get a tldr on why people want to go to stirland again?

This seems to me to be the most boring of the options available.

Well Mathilde actually has the expertise and resources to actually have a good chance to cleanse the land. She also would have access to the waystones in Sylvania which would she would technically be in charge of. Also it seems fitting for her to finish what her dead first boss wanted to do.

Still vampires. Still work to be done. We are a Stirlander by birth, so we have a grudge. And, it's in the relative neighborhood, so we're not going to lose touch entirely with everyone we know now, but we will get back in touch with other people from earlier in the quest.
