Really don't think we could use the spell on ourselves unless we'd like to be paralyzed for a week.
That's why I called it a start. The goal would be figuring out how to do the intangibility seperate from the paralysis or light weakness, and applicable to ourselves. Obviously the effect isn't explicitly tied to either—with neither being present in both of the spells—so it should theoretically be isolatable.

Then again, it's magic, so I don't know. Just to be sure, @BoneyM is trying to create a less limited intangibility spell viable?

Not without a trait or similar to build upon.

So we're deciding on using Rite of Way through mountain passes right now?

Yes.

As someone that is not so very knowledgeable of Warhammer flora and fauna I would like to ask to anyone who knows, what creatures or plants are native to this area?

This is off the edge of the map. As far as I know this part of the world has never been covered in any canon materials. All that can be said is it's north of the intersection of the World's Edge Mountains and the Mountains of Mourn, and very close to the Chaos Wastes, which ticks three separate boxes in the checklist of things that make sensible people nervous and daring people excited.

The Kurgan can move further per day than the Expedition even with RoW, and vastly outnumber us. And I'd say it's quite likely that the Chaos-worshipping tribes are likely to be very attached to their Chaos Artifact, and will be more than willing to commit copious violence to retrieve it if they have a target. Any scenario where stealth fails is likely to be a scramble at best and a clusterfuck for absolutely everybody on the expedition at worst. We should really try for stealth here.
Fine we can use stealth I have no problem with that but we can still bring him along as backup in case Stealth fails after all it never hurts to have a backup plan in case your original plan fails.

I would argue very strongly in favour of doing at least 2x Rite of Way - remember that Gotrek was very concerned about what the mountainous terrain might do to the wagons, that we no longer have the engineers to properly fix the wagons if they break, and that we're about to go through mountain passes.

I do have to say I'm also incredibly horny for the idea of developing a version of Substance of Shadow where Mathilde doesn't explode if there's a light on the other side of a door.
Oh, yes, being able to rip out and experiment with just part of the Mocker of Death spell in order to try and make an easier-to-use Substance of Shadow? That would be very very tempting.

... Unfortunately, I have no idea if that would be at all viable or possible. Since, well, all Substance of Shadow does is make you or a touched target incorporeal, and has requirements and limitations to it.

Getting a spell that's "basically like Substance of Shadow -- except not invisible and you can't become intangible to air as well -- but easier to cast and doesn't expire under light"? That seems... a bit ambitious or greedy. Then again, maybe it could be possible for Mathilde only, due to it being a personal spell Mastery and thus a personal way of casting. So. Something that Mathilde can do, but which can't make its way onto the General Ulgu Spell List.

I suppose there's always some variety of chaos gribblies given our proximity to the Chaos Wastes, but I'm not sure we'd find anything stable enough to bring back to the colleges?

Eh, I'm not too interested in the action either way.

Oh, right. Forgot that requirement in my excitement.

Yeah hard agree. Two is a minimum here and three is absolutely justifiable. Especially if we're also heisting (which seems to be the current consensus), since coming back from said heist to find the Expedition is even temporarily stalled out due to a breakdown would have a hair-raising potential for complications.

I guess that adage of "A certain danger is more daunting than an uncertain danger" expressed in the update holds true. :V The mountain passes really scare us.

Last time around, though...
[*] Use Rite of Way to ease the ascent
[*] Investigate the 'Windfall' with the Light Wizards
[*] Journeyman Cyrston von Danling
[*] Sir Ruprecht Wulfhart the Younger
We only used one usage of Rite of Way.

Of course we only had one choice of using it, but still. Of course, that then changed once we entered the plateau/steppes/whatever, and it went into that "1-3 usages" presentation. Once was enough before, once can be enough now.

Everyone's focussing on the new mastery and planning the heist, but I'd just like to call attention to this clutch save by Max:

"Paper," you say, and Max only hesitates for a second before fishing a notepad out of his pockets and passing it to you with a quill.

Dude is ready to start writing at any given moment, and that deserves respect.

[ ] Attempt to steal the Chaos artefact with Ljiljana

And Hubert. And Johann. Have the three of them cause a distraction and escape while we steal the cup, then use the rest of the actions to RoW and hope we don't get caught up by too huge a force.

Though you have to wonder if the risk to the expedition is worth the addition of Lililjana. Sucks that we don't know much about her capabilities.

We were on the road, then. We used RoW for the ascent due to the increased grade.

There's no road from here until Kislev.

2x Rite Of Way and stealing the cup definitely, then I'll likely approval vote for both Ljiljan and Khole for reasons previously stated.

While Intangible might be the least useful of the masteries for the immediate situation, I'm pretty happy with it on a more narrative level. Recall that it was only a few months ago that Mathilde chain-casted Substance of Shadow over 300 times in a row, and now she's doing something similar (though easier, due to less time constraints and an easier spell) with Mockery of Death, so it makes a lot of sense to get a blending of them.

... Even if I kind of wish there was a Moockery of Death option on that list that makes her way better at casting it on cows, specifically. :V

If you want any team that isn't Mathilde and Ljiljana, use the custom vote format below that one.

Ok is the chalice in the chaos wastes or Steppes? Because where it is determines who we can bring with us.

The most likely candidate at this stage is held by the Kul in the Chaos Wastes.
