Realm of Katarina the Ice Queen?
Well, Katarina predates Frozen by like, 30 years.

(She postdates the Hans Christian Anderson novel The Snow Queen, the original source for Frozen, by about 150)

(Oh god, I just realized, if Kislev gets into Total Warhammer 3, there will 100% be Frozen references. Katarina is going to have a voiceline saying "Let it go")

I'd like Mathilde to have a more-or-less complete reference library for each of the movers and shakers of the Old World. Ulthuan, in particular, we should strive to get a more complete understanding of prior to our eventual trip.
I don't know if book on different topics stack, but it seems like we should get books on Nagarythe specifically.

We really need to find a good way to extend our life. It is so annoying dealing with Dwarfs when you only expect to live a hundred years.
I was under the impression that the solution to this is "old age is for people who don't know Master Jade Wizards" -- and that we're far more likely to die on the end of a skaven, greenskin, beastman, or Chaos Monster melee weapon than at Age's slow scythe anyway.

I suppose the really frustration is that it is going to be a least 30 years before they start thinking of us as reliable.

Nah, we're pretty good on that score already.
(Kragg) looks at you seriously, or as seriously as one can when both parties are lying on their back in a crawlspace and looking sideways at each other. "You're a reliable sort, more so than some Dwarves I've known.
The problem is the Zhuf we wield (as it wields us)... that'll never be seen as reliable.
But the source of your power is unfettered and whimsical. It's why you've power despite barely entering your fourth decade, and it's why you've been able to do as much as you've done. But-" he looks to the lantern that flickers uneasily in his grip, and then to your shadow cast by his lantern, or what little he can see of it as it peaks out from behind you, hiding from the Runelord's scrutiny. "It's betrayed you in the past, and it will in the future."

Is there a list of runes that you've already approved or disapproved of? I have some ideas a but I'd rather not make constant suggestions that you've already said no to just a frustrate the shit out of you.

As a rule of thumb, physical effects are fine, mental effects are not. There's some evidence that mental runes might be able to apply to non-Dwarves, but that has a sample size of a single event and there's a huge amount of variables that would need locking down before you should feel at all comfortable entrusting Mathlide's brainmeats to it.

The City-States of Tilea +4 - Extensive Imperial / Extensive Dwarven
The Empire of Man +7 - Extensive and Esoteric Imperial / Extensive Dwarven
The Kingdom of Bretonnia +6 - Extensive Imperial / Extensive Bretonnian / Extensive Dwarven
The Kingdom of Kislev +4 - Extensive Imperial / Extensive Dwarven

The Karaz Ankor +9 - Extensive and Esoteric Imperial / Extensive Bretonnian / Extensive Dwarven

The Asrai of Athel Loren +4 - Extensive Imperial / Extensive Dwarven
The Eonir of Laurelorn +7 - Extensive and Esoteric Imperial / Extensive Dwarven
The Ten Kingdoms of Ulthuan +6 - Extensive Imperial / Extensive Bretonnian / Extensive Dwarven
Incluiding Tilea but not Estalia? Wow, that's definitely a grudging.

Considering the number of favors, Time bullshit allowing for rerolls on both the turn and combat level?

Wouldn't bet on getting much if any general probability manipulators anyways. Even a literal divine relic of a god of luck grants +20 twice to an action.

That's probably peak for universal do everything better boosts.

@Redshirt Army I think you should choose Antiquarian Imperial over Extensive Dwarven. Reikspiel can be understood by all Imperials, all Bretonnians, and many dwarfs, while Khazalid can be understood by all dwarves and very few else. I think it'd be better to lean harder into Imperial books even as it'll exclude some dwarf readers. I most strongly believe this for the books meant for traders, as dwarf traders are especially likely to know Reikspiel.

Geography
The Old World +6 - Extensive Imperial / Extensive Bretonnian / Extensive Dwarven

Araby +4 - Extensive Imperial / Extensive Dwarven
Cathay +6 - Imperial / Extensive and Esoteric Cathayan (T)
Ind +4 - Extensive Imperial / Extensive Dwarven

The Dark Lands +3 - Imperial / Extensive Dwarven
Dragon Isles +1 - Dwarven
Mountains of Mourn +3 - Imperial / Extensive Dwarven

Most of this category will probably get filled out as things come up - I could see us shifting to Lustrian info if a trip there started to seem more likely, for example. But for our current purposes, the main thing I'd like to see is a more broad reference section on Old World geography, some Imperial writings on Cathay to put the translated documents into context, and some references on the primary areas the K8P trading route will be headed.
To help trade, buying books on the Dark Lands is vital, much more important than Ind and Cathay for silk road trade. The Dark Lands are easily the most dangerous part of the journey and the place where extra knowledge of the land will be most helpful and contribute the most to survival of the caravan.

Reroĺls exist. Dwarves explicitly have a rune of luck. There is also the familiar power which is incredible as well.

Thank you very much, Redshirt, I've bookmarked that so that if I ever need to fill out a proposed library buy because there isn't something obvious to spend our stipend on, I have a reference guide.

I'm off to bed, so in the event that there is an update and the moratorium ends before I'm up, here is the post I made recently with a possible outline for our next turn. Details can be filled in by the night shift as they see fit, but I think that the basic plan of Dictate Khazalid/Serenity half the Imperial/three flexible personal actions is sound.

(My personal preference for Mathilde's flex actions, barring surprise new options, would be Investigate We communication/AV research/Practical diplo class, but do as thou wilt.)
The idea of a night shift for this thread really amuses me.

Equipment ideas: Get one rune that dumps an assload of aqshy to flash-blind anyone with Magesight and another rune that cuts out our mage-sight out for a fraction of a second. Fire them at the same time and we selectively fuck up exactly the most dangerous people on the battlefield. Or send a signal to anyone with mage-sight within five miles, which'd also be surprisingly useful!

Rune is banned for being blasphemy to Ranald. Familiar...well nobody wants to risk obsession
I would risk obsession! And not just because I need people Mathilde cares about greatly to push her towards necromancy!

It's not like it's make much of a difference for this thread...

(I also wouldn't mind blasphemy against Ranald for well documented reasons, even if luck is a particularly dull version of it)

Yes, to varying extents. When you boil it down, the CK2-style council is just a formalized set of titles and spheres for the uppermost level of a chain of command, and it's not an uncommon idea. A Steward-equivalent might instead be called a Bursar or a Vicar or a Paymaster or a Purser or a Master of Coin or a CFO.
Just putting this out there. One day we should be the Bursar of the Grey College. Then the College has to worry about fish jumping on the boat not us.

I mean... we've got the stewardship for it. The problem is that we're more likely to be the outright matriarch, if not Supreme Matriarch, and thus be the Leader of the college... or technically the Empire's Learning advisor.

"What's the plan from here," you ask, as he seems to be a little more sure of what he's saying, and you hope that means he's come to terms with it. "Jade College?"

"No point turning back on gilding," he says, holding a hand up to touch his blindfold. "It would be years before the Chamon fades enough for another Wind to heal the damage. Once the scarring is complete, I can attempt it again. I've got enough savings for a second attempt once the failed batch is salvaged. Assuming it succeeds, it will be like it never went wrong."
Is this 'excess Chamon'- presumably an aftereffect of the failed Gilding procedure, rather than just being a Gold Wizard- is that what stopped Mathilde being able to just heal the damage to Johanns eyes with a charge from the Seed?

In which case, would it be able to heal the eyes if the 'excess Chamon' was brought down to whatever Johanns regular levels are?
