One solution for becoming E.C: Convince a childless E.C to adopt Mathilde, then wait for them to die.

Not sure if it would work but hey, if it's stupid but it works it ain't stupid.

The Empire might not recognize adoptees as being able to inherit titles. I don't know the setting well enough to say.

I wonder how much favors it would take to setup a Wizard-Runelord collaboration project.

If K8P was still ongoing I would be pushing for us to get the Agshy Fireball magic item. Make sabotage much easier as you can go in, drop fireballs, and leave.

So last post of the night for me.

I've had this voice in my head for what Kragg sounds like in this thread since he first showed up, but couldn't really figure out where I got it from.

It's Orrn, Orrn from LOL is Kragg voice actor.

Didn't tell me it doesn't work, the stuff near the end about him grumbling about the bases craftwork has old Dwarf all over it.

Are people worried about not having enough Dwarf Favor? Assuming we weather the Waaagh* fine, our Dwarf Favor coming out of this will be yes. I mean, what else do we really need from them? A wizard's staff ( possibly even collaboration with people Runelord's don't normally collaborate with, a couple new towers, some training with all things gunpowder... what else?

*actually a pretty big assumption. I feel like people might be counting their eggs before they hatch here.

So what's the rationale for people thinking it's a reasonable idea to try to gank Eshin's sorcerer? It seems like an unnecessarily risky proposition.

I think it is 12 for a Runelord and 12 for a Lord magister separately, assuming no synergy or special interest from either.
10 each:
  • Getting a Journeyman/Magister/Lord Magister of a specific College/with a specific spell to come assist with a specific question/project/calamity
2/5/10 per six months. This is assuming they have no interest in the topic and will receive none of the credit (or blame) for whatever it is you're trying to do.

Much better matchup for us than any of the other hero units other than maybe the stormvermin. Attacking Sleek while he's got a posse around him is suicide, which is why Eshin hasn't been able to manage it. 1v3ing assassins sounds like risky business. We haven't even seen Eshin's leader, which bodes poorly. But a sorcerer shouldn't be too bad, because our belt makes us a great magekiller. I imagine the modal combat between the two of us goes something like this:
We spot each other at about the same time.
He Skitterleaps backwards to get range on us.
He casts a battle magic spell on us while we're coming at him or casting a spell of our own.
Spellburner does its thing.
We Smoke&Mirrors into melee while he's screaming in pain and remove his head from his shoulders.

Having taken a look at the Lore of Stealth, I'm not too worried about what he might have in store for us. We're him, but better.

As for why we're attacking Eshin at all: because they were winning prior to Sparklebutt entering the equation. We want their fight to be as close as even as possible so that 1) neither side breaks and runs from a clearly hopeless battle, but rather clings on as long as possible in the hopes of eking out a victory 2) mopping up the survivors is less painful.

Naruto battle, I guess? We're both Wizard Ninjas, but Mathilde is better at anti-wizard ninja-ing, so we'd sort of have an advantage, and they've only got the one caster, so if we take them out they become a lot more vulnerable to magical solutions.

(I just want to see Mathilde and the Sorcerer throw a big flurry of magical knives at each other and then teleport into melee for a kunai duel or something, like out of one of our Nipponese Romance Novels.)

It just seems completely pointless, either Eshin wins and takes off, or Mors wins and we kill them once they walk into our fortifications. Why bother risking ourself at all?

We want to kill both of them.

we're storming this place with the dorfs once they are sufficiently weakened to minimize casualties.

So we want them to grind each other to pieces.

Neither of these are certain. Eshin could stick around and wage asymmetrical warfare hell upon us and Mors could see we've taken the Trench, turn right around, leave the Karak and be a thorn in our side for years to come. Our best bet is letting them grind each other down and then come in to kill the winner.

The problem is letting a vengeance target run away if we can actually get them, King-Bro has gotten a lot of problems just helping moruder live before, even when it was just to use them as a buffer and was planning to kill them later anyways.

Actually letting Eshin get away when we could have got them, but didn't because it was easier would brake his heart.
