We could wait until the Skaven heroes are dead, and then we go talk to the dragon.
That might be possible but is in no way guaranteed:
You might be able to move on to one of the other options after, depending on how events unfold.
I'd rather take the guaranteed "open dialogue with the dragon so we can establish non-hostility, bond over how skaven are just, like, the worst, and warn it about the waaagh coming this way."
But ... if dragon diplomancing goes wrong we're pretty fucked. Also, the dragon is fighting Eshin, and we may or may not look like Eshin... so i'm all for not risking accidentally being splattered.
Given that Mathilde's narration said that she thought she could approach it between packs of skaven, I assume she has a better plan than "sneak up while wrapped in Ulgu and get taken for an Eshin assassin."

Or you could use this opportunity to reach out to the dragon. Anyone approaching it in its lair will be at a disadvantage from the cold and from being within its place of power, but Karag Yar could serve as neutral ground to open a dialogue with it. And it shouldn't be hard to approach it as it goes from one group of Skaven to another.
I like to imagine that this would involve Mathilde predicting the way the dragon will travel and setting up on the route there. Maybe with a nice carpet, a comfortable chair, and a bottle of wine. Or a booth of some sort.

I know we probably won't be as lucky as last time, but I hope the stealth and spell books are still in there somewhere.

I fear Mathilde may have a small Eshin-looting addiction.

Are Albino Skaven a specific sign of the Horned Rat's favour or something, or just traditional?

Whilst this could be a Councillor, some crazy pseudo-Greyseer or some other crazy dangerous power play, it's equally possible some Skaven with a bit too big of a head gathered together all the albino Skaven near him and tried making his own mimicry of a Greyseer honour guard, because of course he's that important.

Not necessarily true, but just as devils advocate, let's not crazy tunnel vision on us having a Councillor or something equally big here before we know for sure.

Honestly, I'd rather like to kill that Eshin Sorcerer. It is the most terrifying known hostile in the area, and we only get one alpha-strike before we are noticed....

Assuming they are not already aware of us, I suppose.

Buttt.... Best chance to say "Hi"?

I can not give up that opportunity.

[ ] Parlay with the dragon.

I'm choosing this knowing full well 'and then you were eaten by a dragon' is a very possible outcome when dealing with a pissed-off dragon with only 10 diplomacy and no relevant traits.

but I'm too curious.

hmm. if these albinos are in fact gnawdwell's, and he got taken out, that means nurglitch probably bit it too. Which can only be a good thing.

perhaps, but consider: divinely stealing clan mors
I mean, that sounds like something we should even attempt only if we have a much better personal understanding of the divine, have correctly arranged circumstances to give it some... metaphysical weight, and don't have a pretty immediately pressing responsibilities to tens of thousands of people. Not something we should just yolo into because there happen to be hostile desperate skaven nearby.

Honestly, I think either parlaying with the dragon or looting should be our aim. Like the update says this is probably the best chance we have of catching the dragon out of its literal seat of power, putting us on something at least approaching equal footing, at least territory wise. And the timing would be fortuitous; allowing us to possibly set up a cordon to prevent skaven from either side escaping with minimal risk of entering into conflict with the dragon itself and possibly forming an alliance of convenience for the incoming orcs.

On the other hand this is probably the best chance we have at actually getting our hands on skaven magical lore. The Eshin sorcerer and assassins are thoroughly distracted and both sides are extremely depleted with enormously reduces our risk, meanwhile the other threats are being mopped up (we hope). Actually getting info on skaven magic could be nearly as big a deal as the paper we wrote on our Waaaghbane knowledge.

I agree with the assessment that the most likely explanation is that Gnawdwell bit it, and Sleek as the highest ranking Mors survivor inherited his guard, by Gnawdwell's orders of course.

The former indicates they're aligned with Ulthuan, the latter is neutral.
I'm also pretty sure that Emperor's are more powerful than star dragons as a result of being older than them. From what I remember, Ulthuan's Star Dragon breed are descended from an ancient dragon that settled there and made friends with the Elves.

In the tabletop the Emperor's have higher stats than Star's so them being the exact same thing with different names seem suspect.

I probably favour parley with the dragon, it's less of a sure thing than looting.
We've not achieved what we have this day by playing conservatively, and the Eshin loot probably isn't going anywhere in the next hour unless they sweep the field.

I super want to loot Eshin, but I am more willing to gamble that all the stuff will still be intact later than I am that the dragon will still be in relatively neutral ground later.

Woke up, found all the elves are perverts now. Left, found a nice quiet mountain full of shiny to lair in.
Woke up, found the nice quiet mountain not at all quiet and full of Skaven.

Fuck that shit.
I'm now imagining the dragon growing a beard and grumbling with the Longbeards about how things were much better back in the day.

So the negotiation with skaven is out on account of several factors, some of them including trusting skaven to keep their end of the deal and not coming back with an army later, and our poor Belebro getting even hecking more bonkers, because active negotations is just, whoosh. I am very interested in talking with the dragon and determining its exact attitude. Either we manage to talk out ceasefire for duration of shit going down, or at least find out if its likely to try and ice us all the moment its done with Skaven. Thats probably the most useful bit of intel. I don ´t think we are going to get anything more useful from looting the Eshin, and if we wanted sorcery, we should have gone for Skryre. We already got books from Eshin that we haven ´t even translated yet, and tbh, finding out the dragons attitude could save lot more lives right now. Really hoping the lootbox craze stays at downlow.
