there is a good argument that Kazador's traits make him a better leader then us, so 'sow-terror' is a smart choice.

my only worry is that with some much of our fighting force below if the Orcs burst out above we are shit out of luck.

While a painfully average role means the assault onto the fortified position was merely a good success rather than a route I do notice something.

This not only demonstrates Mathilde's understanding of Skaven tactics and psychology, knowing that the Stormvermin are elite forces who among Skaven are known to be uncharacteristically bold and disciplined, what she just pulled is eerily similar to tactics of the Skaven themselves.
She allowed Izor to hide and shelter the more elite Angrund, both concealing the point of the spear till the last moment and also, in something of a cold equation, letting the more expendable Izor take the brunt of artillery and missile fire.
It's not quite the same, she didn't treat the Izor Dwarves like cannon fodder like the Skaven to their Slaverats and Clanrats by any means, and it's not like Skaven have a complete monopoly on tactics like that so I might be grasping at straws, but the thought did strike me.
Yep.

Even the best commanders (and while Mathilde is pretty good, I'm not necessarily saying we're one of them) need to be willing to accept the near absolute guarantee of some deaths before they can work on minimizing how many there are.

This is precisely what the besiegers are worst at though? Attacking the tunnels is going to inevitably involve a ton of melee combat, and pavise crossbowmen aren't generally very good at that. Plus, the ranges are going to be generally short enough that their shields aren't going to be nearly as much as an advantage as they were in the initial assault.
Yeah, we should save the besiegers for the orcs. There will be countless orcs to fight soon enough.

We should definitely scout Yar Next turn, so we can see if we can wipe the survivor out completely while they are starving and disorganized. This turn, we should scout Rhyn and see if we can direct the Waagh at Yar.

Yeah, the moment to assault Karag Yar would be the very instant someone wins, but before they have a chance to eat the loser. Right when they're coming off the Musk of Battle + Black Hunger steroid but before they've recovered their strength.

Drazh Waaagh is my concern mostly because at this point it's the only real threat to us left with the Skaven grinding themselves down to the bone.
I'm honestly much more worried about the Rhyn orcs right now after thinking about it more. If they attack the under-caldera or any of our other positions they could do a lot of damage. I don't think it will happen this turn but I think it might happen next turn and I want to scout so we can prepare.

I love it when our enemies kill each other. I say we consolidate while waiting for more battles to play out. The skaven battle should keep going for a little longer and the green skins will keep. We should still scout both fights and the army coming from the north

Definitely. Hopefully they are still occupied by a thousand hungry trolls, but its always good to check.

I'm thinking that the best use of the Besiegers might be for ythem to occupy the recently vacated More defensive positions. They won't be at their best in the trench, and they should be pretty effective if one of the other factions goes for the caldera.

In other news, I wonder what Morsquest is like right now. I imagine them debating options and tactics for the Eshin fight while a single poster keeps talking about how they haven't gotten any updates about the Caldera in two turns.

After thinking about it, I think I want to Lead From The Front. We have useful insights and bonuses that Kazador, for all his Thunderhorn prowess, cannot replicate -- our knowledge of skaven tactics should at the very least help out narratively, even if numberswise he still beats us. Fighting alone, we can cause devastation, but as part of a spearpoint with an army behind us, we can open the door for a complete dominance of the enemy. Substance of Shadow+Smoke&Mirrors->Universal Confusion+Smoke&Mirrors back will let Azul's crossbows just dunk all over the skaven forces, and with Branalhune we can help Kazador double-team any skaven heroes that show up. We're the invading force, which means that the fight is wherever our army is, and so that's where we want to be helping the most.

Also, we're gonna get a shitload of Dwarf Favour. Leading From The Front is, like, their thing.

Maybe they will maybe they won't after all they've already been in a fight so it's possible they won't leave there mountain.

I wonder what the ducklings are up to right now.

Somehow, Max has still not gotten to shoot anyone.

Honestly, I hope Johann took off for Zilfin the minute the battle started. The noxious gasses and whatnot probably won't bother him, and this is potentially a huge opportunity to loot Skryre equipment (assuming he's quick enough to avoid the Dragon)

Before I go to bed I am going to put forward again like I have been for the past couple of turns the need to scout out Karag Ziflin to find out what the Dragon is doing right now.

It is the strongest single entity here, and strongest faction bar none but the Karak Drazh Waaagh. If it decides to waltz out everyone's plans matter not a single whit because it can just bull through them with its Hysh and sheer size.

It'd rather suck if we had all these nice gifts and then a Dragon we didn't know was coming happened to them.
