Somewhere in that town-turned-battlefield is Brother Kasmir. Leave Van Hal's side. Find him. Sigmar will heal Van Hal.

Well that was both Awesome and Horrible. So Warhammer in a nut shell.

Counting this turn's vote is popular, I see.

We were gifted an estate along with the title, I'm pretty sure it would be inheritable. Now if you'll excuse me I need to figure out how we can make our Smoke Knight branch family of the Count of Stirland a reality.
An estate was a requirement for being a Knight, to maintain the horse, arms and armour. The knighting update made no mention of Mathildes' 'line' one way or the other. Who knows how fantasy Empire ones work, but Knighthood is traditionally something you strive to achieve.

With her shadow steed she'll at least be able to cover more ground and get him back more quickly, hopefully in time.

The fact that there was a dynasty vote would imply it is a hereditary title.
- The Dynasty voting will be separate to the Plan.
The quote is at the end of this update.

Provided she does not reopen her wounds in the process, get caught in combat or gets her way back blocked off by skellies.

Going out for Kasmir is not an outright trap option, but it definitely has alot of possible failure points.

Well no, landed knighthood historically was pretty commonly inherited.

[X] By Van Hal's side. Whatever happens.
Wanted to run out and grab the priest, but arguments regarding our own injuries swayed me.

Gosh, that escalated quickly.

Here's hoping we get a trait out of surviving that melee against all odds.

@BoneyM Three questions:
  1. Where the fuck were our Greatswords? (Please take the phrasing as IC)
  2. I get that we were fucked over by rolls. But what happened from a Watsonian point of view? Didn't our forward charge and all the Dwarfen melee proceed in front of us? And Dwarfs aren't known for speed either.
  3. Can we vote for write-ins? I don't mean to micro-manage, but stuff like taking only limited command or going out to delegate stuff before going back in are things that aren't clear if they would be done anyway. Specific

The examination of how everything went to hell will take place in coming updates. And as others have said, the items listed are what would happen in Van Hal's absence anyway.

Given this, the return of dwarves and the talk before the charge, I'm thinking that the battle went as follows:
1. Knights of Morr took the gates.
2. Second wave and Gustav reinforced them (I guess that's where Markus was?), waiting for dwarves. Skeleton hordes started to push back.
3. Dwarves went into town to take high spots and towers, as per plan based on Magnus's teachings.
4. Mathilde and Van Hal charged into gates just as skeleton hordeshit started to get real.
5. Something cut us off from not only fourth wave but from the remains of second wave as well. Maybe some magical terror?
6. We fought waves of skeleton fighters (no archers, thankfully), until dwarves took the walls and cared to notice the whole debacle.

This is near enough to spot on. The plan is based on trying to keep the advantage of undead tirelessness from telling. The Knights charged the gate to form a hole, the second wave ran to the gate to reinforce it and relieve the knights, the dwarves (slower but more tireless) form a third wave to reinforce the second and take the walls, and the fourth wave advances in number and at a march so they arrive in overwhelming numbers and ready for combat, pushing past the beachhead in the gate and into the town.

At least, that was the plan. It very much did not survive first contact with the enemy. How it broke down will be examined in-character.

Imagine if there had actually been some magic-related terror effect keeping everyone away until the dwarves broke through, and it turns out the entire time we just hadn't noticed through the haze of red as we fought to protect the Count.

Even if no such effect occurred, undead are naturally scary. Taking the Brave trait in chargen has had a huge influence on Mathilde's character, second only to being a wizard.

So on a side note @BoneyM if we eventually do have a child would it be possible for us to turn our Noble House into the sort of thing that raises it's members to become bodyguards and agents of the Count of Stirland?

As the founder of House Weber you can turn it into anything you please; the knighthood won't be handed down, but knighting the eldest children of landed knights is very common if they become a squire or otherwise enter the service of Stirland, and either way the coat of arms and estate would be.

"Skeleton's broke again," is the input from the seated figure.
"FOOLISH MORTAL! Why hath thou summoned...The Dreaded Necromancer Von Hoth-Leyn?"
"Yes, hello. This is elector countess Van Carstein. I ordered a skeleton from you a while ago, and it doesn't seem to be working. It's just kinda standing there."
"Very well, I shall answer thy inquiry, but answer me first these questions three! What sort of skeleton be it?"
"Uh. I think It's a 1056 Stirlander with bronze weaponry and a regular hexcore Dhar animator"
"Hmmm...Now answer me my second question, ye puny worm! Hast thou attempted...TURNING IT OFF AND ON AGAIN???"
"Uh. No. Hold on...Okay, I turned off and on again. And now my skeleton's got this kinda blue glow. And it's started giving off sparks. Is it supposed to do that?"
"By Nagash! The dreaded Blu-Skrin of Death! 'tis worse than I ever could have dreaded! Cast ye out thy skeleton! For, it hath been curs'd with a mighty ill! Also, all warranties are void once the product has been removed from the coffin, terms and services apply. Thank you for summoning Dreaded Necromancer Von Hoth-Leyn."

I still consider my greatest strength to be setting a character's foundation.

Her starting traits were my work, weren't they?

Holy shit. This is the biggest trainwreck I've ever seen. Double crit fail, MC is half dead and our boss got butchered.

Alright, also what is the policy when it comes to adopting someone into a house and also the policy of Counts having mistresses?

So if anybody is still undecided I figured I might as well weigh in on what might be the themes of the various choices alongside a few pros/cons.
[ ] By Van Hal's side. Whatever happens.
This has Mathilde standing watch over Van Hal, and is the type of loyalty that'd see her take on whatever dammed souls emerge from the shadows of Sylvania for small kindness of allowing her liege to die as he lived a man. It might give her a trait that provides bonuses to fighting alongside those of the Van Hal bloodline, and/or undertaking personal missions in their name.
[ ] A battle still rages. Throw yourself into it.
This would make use of the awe the Stirlander soldiers were showing to Mathilde to rally them, but will probably give her the wrathful trait, and does nothing to fix Van Hal's circumstance.
[ ] Somewhere in that town-turned-battlefield is Brother Kasmir. Leave Van Hal's side. Find him. Sigmar will heal Van Hal.
This has Mathilde working to fix the problem of Van Hal circumstances, and will improve the morale of whatever Stirlander soldiers she encounters so long as she stays up, but is absolutely a risky decision.

Given it has Mathilde ending with the belief that Sigmar will heal Van Hal she'll probably be frantically repeating whatever hymns, or verses she can recall that are associated with Sigmar, and her deeper connection would increase the odds of him hearing the prayers of one of his children who isn't ordained, but at the end of the day anything happening depends on whether, or not Ranald has Mathilde's back.
[ ] The plan exists independently of Van Hal; if necessary, it will outlive him. Take command.
This has Mathilde valuing the cause over Van Hal personally. It would probably clamps down on any panic occurring from their leader going down, and get everyone doing what they know they should be doing, but either due to the chaos, or panic among the ranks might not be going on.
