I am pleasantly surprised that the Seviroscope brainstorming is going so well, and even moreso that Eike managed to contribute to it.
Which idea should be pursued? The Auditory Seviroscope would require practice to learn to interpret its results, but would be portable, would give a constant stream of information, and would be relatively simple to make. The Visual Seviroscope would be expensive, bulky, complex, and only capable of taking a snapshot at a time, but would allow for a highly-detailed and easily-understood visual representation of the Winds.
If we want Runesmiths to be able to look at Bok we probably want high details, don't we? And being bulky and expensive is less of an issue when dwarves are paying for it. An auditory Seviroscope could be better for Mathilde's idea of magic sirens, but is that really what we're after?

I think that a mounted knight would be a lot more generally useful.

We can deploy it in situations where summoning a giant spider would cause a problem with troops or civilians. For example, if we're operating in a city as when we slab that Everchosen candidate, we can have a knight pre-summoned and acting as a body guard in a way we can't with a spider. We can also have it join units of cavalry usefully reinforce them much more easily.

Simply being able to disguise it as a human widens the range of scenarios it can be used.

It also has hands, which could be beneficial sometimes.

What form should Mathilde impose on the Rider in Red? For most mount-and-rider designs this would be an aesthetic choice, but may influence how the spell is perceived by others. A dramatically different shape may have new advantages and drawbacks.
Uhm... The Dämmerlichtreitter? There could (is most likely to) be some interference between it and the nascent Kami that we inadvertently created, but it might be for the better?

Visual seems like it would be more useful to Kragg, and Auditory is more useful to people in general. Honestly, I can see the worth in developing both.

@Boney is there anything stopping us from trying to make one, and then moving on to the other at a later point?

----
If we can do both, I'd prefer to make the high-end detailed model, on the slim chance that we might learn something from doing so that would improve the Auditory model in the long run.

Also because I want to make Kragg's present more than I want to make a warning system for villages, though in part that is because such a system needs a trained operator.

Though there is the question of if the end result would look like it's made of Shadows. Might not be so easy to convince anyone they're human.

I doubt we'll have fine enough control over the entity to even have it out and about regularily, never mind keeping it contained enough for it to be abel to pretend to be a body guard. From what I understand we should only summon the entity to kill our enemies, as is its nature.

I mean, you don't see the Golds keeping a Golden Hound on a leash as a Guard Dog, they only bring them out to rip and tear.

So I'm gonna be a little boring and advocate for a knight, or at least a wraith, rather than a spider, for the simple reason that a knight's just kind of more convenient for what we want here. This bad boy's for when we want something loud and deadly in a fight, and while a giant spider's nothing to scoff at, it just wouldn't have the same potential for a destructive charge, I feel.

That aside, I don't really have a particular opinion for its form, though I do hope that whatever it is we'll be able to keep a little bit of the ulgu vibe, though. Maybe smoke leaking from out of its armour? Shadows clinging tightly to its shell? Who knows.

I think trying to make it look like Mathilde on a horse (not necessarily the legend though that would be fine, but just a copy of Mathilde on her horse) would be the most useful while being quite thematic to Ulgu. @Alratan is right I think that hands would be useful.
