-- Ideally we'd want something relevant to the foundation, but in leiu of that... per White Dwarf 389 (UK), pg. 69, Ulgu is able to create the spell "Ranald's Mischief", where "Using a small silver mirror, the wizard switches an ability of one of his allies with that of one of his enemies." I have no clue if this is actually a good idea or not, but I thought it might be funny if in this timeline, Horstmann's Speculum was a joint Ulgu/Hysh windherder project. :V

It's a fun enough idea that I'll allow it.

...Is that a valid action, @Boney?

You can 'pay' for the Elfcation with actions from two consecutive turns, but no Coin shenanigans. The Coin setting in effect when Mathilde goes on Elfcation will remain in effect for the entire duration of it.

it's a simple plan, Drop orbs, then fuck off to Elfland before anyone can ask questions.

for the full Mathy experience.

anyone can play with this plan as long as they keep the 'drop orbs then run away to the Elfcation' aspect

I'm going to bed.

I mean I don't hate it, but frankly as far as Elfcation goes, I think a lot of people are delaying with no plan of when to do it, and a time at which we have only one action for the main body of the project is as good a time as I can see. I also don't really think that this is anywhere as guaranteed as you're making it out to be? But if there are major AP gains by splitting it, I'd be interested to see a plan which starts the project this year, but doesn't complete it.
If we can't even wait for grabbing the low hanging fruits of personal power, we're leaving shenanigans on the table I tells ya.

More seriously - this is basically the single most personally dangerous action on our horizon. We have legacy-defining things to wrap up that won't happen at all if we aren't the ones to do it, and we have an immediate path to getting another trump card for Mathilde to play.

I look forward to the elfcation myself, but when we're ready to do it, we'll make the time for it. This is not the golden opportunity we're looking for to go punching druchii.

Here's my quick and dirty turn plan for people to start poking at:

[-] Plan Redshirt v1.61803
-[-] MAX: Study: Books and rubbings from an Asur explorer of Lustria and the Southlands
-[-] JOHANN: Hunt an apparition (Whispering Darkness)
-[-] EGRIMM: Windherding (Stat-Swapping Mirror :V )

-[-] Attempt to bring a non-Order magical tradition into the Waystone Project (Damsels)
--[-] COIN: The Father

-[-] Waystone: Foundation (Fuckin' Everyone)

-[-] SERENITY: Write a paper: Windfall Observations, with Egrimm as Primary Author
-[-] EIC: Negotiate and plan a magical route through the Schadensumpf to allow for easier trade with the Eonir without compromising their defences.
-[-] EIC: Insert agents into a particular province, cult, company, or institution to start gathering their secrets. (Nordland)
-[-] KAU: Begin copying the full corpus of a Partner Library. (Grand University of Nuln)

-[-] Eike Actions: EIC Agents in Nordland, Waystone Foundation
-[-] Eike Study: Sounds

My reasoning:
- It's been long enough, it's time to do apparition binding.
-- Johann can come along and help us, and I want to bind the Whispering Darkness, since it seems more congruent with our themes and we can probably stack the Staff of Mistery and Warrior of Fog traits to get something truly incredible.
- Windherding has also been neglected, and brushing up on how to get multiple different winds to play together well is going to be especially important when it comes to setting up the Foundation.
-- Ideally we'd want something relevant to the foundation, but in leiu of that... per White Dwarf 389 (UK), pg. 69, Ulgu is able to create the spell "Ranald's Mischief", where "Using a small silver mirror, the wizard switches an ability of one of his allies with that of one of his enemies." -Everyone on the Foundation because, duh?
-Extra EIC action to infiltrate Nordland, to make sure we have an eye on things and to give Eike a practical lesson alongside the Hochlander
-- If I get the inspiration for it maybe I'll write up another Hochlander omake installment where he gives Eike advice?
I have a gripe with bringing Brettonia in on it which is mostly COIN-economy based:

I feel like the coin of the Father would be more efficient if we paired the action up with investigating the Forest of Shadows nexuses. Since then we have both the investigation of The Lady, and the guaranteed trust of the Forest of Shadows Hedgewise (and Haletha herself since we'll be stomping around Her territory.)

Father plan proposal

[ ] Attempt to bring a non-Order magical tradition into the Waystone Project (Betonnian Damsels)
[ ] Waystone: Nexuses(Forest of Shadows)
[ ] Waystone: Foundation (Elrisse, Tochter, Aksel, Hatalath, Cadaeth, Sarvoi, Thorek, Niedzwenka, Zlata, Damsel?)

[ ] MAX: Study: Books and rubbings from an Asur explorer of Lustria and the Southlands
[ ] JOHANN: Hunt an apparition (Rider in Red)
[ ] EGRIMM: Attempt a Windherder enchantment with Egrimm: (Cloak of Flashy Escapes, Shadowcloak/Dazzling Brightness)

either
[ ] EIC: Insert agents into a particular province, cult, company, or institution to start gathering their secrets. (Ulric)
[ ] EIC: Negotiate and plan a magical route through the Schadensumpf to allow for easier trade with the Eonir without compromising their defences

[ ] Seek the publishing contacts to start acquiring large amounts of books from a nearby realm (Bretonnia)
would we have enough personal involvement that The Father would trigger on this? (if The Lady is a daughter)

[ ] Eike Actions: Brettonia negotiations, Books and rubbings, Windfall Observations, EIC
[ ] Eike Study: something intrigue
[ ] SERENITY: Write a paper: Windfall Observations, with Egrimm as Primary Author
[ ] The Father

-[ ] Eike Actions: Kurgan Weapons, Lustrian Rubbings, Capturing an Apparition
-[ ] Eike Study: Figure out the politics going on inside the Cult of Ulric and write a detailed report about it.
-[ ] The Gambler: Eike Study

I think given the outstanding progress the Waystone Project as had so far we can focus on going all in on the foundation and using the time to clear our some stuff we had stashed away plus finish both the AV actions and finally capture an Apparition. I'm undecided if should copy Nuln's university immediately or cut our teeth in the Mootland library instead, but If I post this plan I'd likely put on Nuln just because everyone else is doing it.

I am throwing Eike to the metaphorical wolves here, but what better way to test what she has learned then an actual real mission? It gives us sime real information about her approach and so her strengths and weaknesses plus it gives her some real field experience. I'm putting the Gambler on it for more protection and/or better results, depending on how the rolls shake out.

Plus we wanted to know about what's going on in the Cult of Ulric but never have enough time for it. That's what apprentices are for, right?

Ooooh but I am excited for the elfcation, where else could we find someone powerful enough in the lore of smug for us to best than Ulthuan. Let the smugoff, BEGIN

The plan looks generally okay, and I didn't expect the awesome mirror idea to be approved but now that it has I needs it, but theres one major hurdle that may or may not be personal to me. As someone who really wants to do a Father turn, I really want multiple actions in that turn to be applicable under the Father. I want a full Father turn badly enough that I'm willing to delay it rather than settle for using that face on one action. Also Eike on just sounds etc etc.
Father plan proposal
This is more like it and I'm willing to throw it an approval. Couple suggestions I have no idea if they're workable: Kislev is said to be hard to get into for traders and a Father turn would be the perfect opportunity to get in through the cult of Kalita, though since it's competing with two other popular EIC actions idk if it's worth going full throttle. Eike on four actions feels like a lot, maybe remove the negotiations? Finally Brettonia is noted to not have many BOOK worth pursuing so I don't know how valuable that KAU action is, especially considering that whatever libraries are there might be full of worshippers of gods other than the Lady.
I mean I don't hate it, but frankly as far as Elfcation goes, I think a lot of people are delaying with no plan of when to do it,
...
EDIT: Also, if someone else has a plan which doesn't do it, can they state when they would want to do it?
@picklepikkl has been building momentum for doing it on our next overwork turn 44. That's when I'm planning to do it also, as that's when we'll have had the opportunity to get cash and get swole and be done with the cool shit currently on the docket.

-Everyone on the Foundation because, duh?
It's not exactly a duh. The Foundation needs to be able to store the Winds and the disciplines of Hedgecraft, Ice Magic and Hag Witch Magic don't involve either directly touching the Winds (like all our other humans and all our elves) or taming them into a different energy (Thorek and rune magic). Aksel, Zlata and Niedzwenka might have some experience with them, certaintly, but they don't base their magics around them.

That's why there was some talk of using a second action to spread the tributaries to Kislev using the tributary team - Kislev really really needs to lower their ambient magic, and Zlata and Niedzwenka both in particular would know enough of Kislev politically that they would be a great asset.

I mean I don't hate it, but frankly as far as Elfcation goes, I think a lot of people are delaying with no plan of when to do it, and a time at which we have only one action for the main body of the project is as good a time as I can see. On the contrary, there's some very concrete plans to do it on Turn 44 because that's when we'd have Overwork available, and if all goes well by that point we may already have a working waystone prototype.

And with the way people are talking about buying stuff in Lothern, delaying stuff further would just mean getting some more money before going there.

It's a fun enough idea that I'll allow it.
It feels like trying to imitate a Calamity spell would be quite a step up from trying to combine Relatively Simple spells. Would it be preliminary research on how to make it possible at all, or on how do it outside of combat?

Normally I generally agree with your plans, but this time I really disagree with a lot of pieces here:

Windherding: Last time Mathilde tried Windherding, she gained an Arcane Mark. And that was with a rather simple enchantment idea! I don't want to do Windherding again without the Gambler to try to counteract bad luck, and certainly hnt for something so much more difficult and complicated when we haven't even succeeded at W8idherding action yet!

Damsels: X Can't Give It To Us. Not anymore. We're too close to reaching the major milestone in the waystone project of making our first working prototype.

Eike on Sounds: I won't repeat myself, so to keep it short, I strongly object to making Eike put her nose to the spell study grindstone for the third turn in a row. Let's have her do some Grey training instead of constant Spell training.

No Liminal Realm: I don't want to delay our progress on finally finishing up AV. Now's a really good time to use the Gambler on the Liminal Realm action so we can finally finally finish out the AV action/research tree next turn with the Morbs.

1000% improvement. (obviously if the red rider swap is a no-go for Red, i'll change the name.

Even if they have literal zero use in figuring out how the Elven Foundation works (which I doubt since the Waystones in general seem to rely heavily on sympathetic principles and the Ice Witches might know more about the internals) they're still useful for potentially providing replacements using their own paradigm. Especially Aksel, since he made an Enchament to manipulate Dhar just last turn.

I'd really like Elfcation after we've fully done AV and done the Apparition binding as well.

Otherwise it sort of feels like we'd be interrupting research at an awkward time.

I'm going to be honest, I really, really dislike the whole red rider/nazgul thing.

I can't explain why I dislike it so much, but I just feel that the other apparitions are much better candidates for Mathilde's style.
its absolutely fair to have a preference.

but i have no idea how you can say its not Mathys style.

she is the bloody Twilight rider, riding around on a shadow horse, with a big sword is the thing she is most known for.

riding at the head of a group of shadow horseman with big ass swords could not be more her style if she tried.
