What happened to them?

Ranald created a whole-ass island out of nothing in order to save a single drowning man. This island is Sartosa, the pirate capital, and Jack O' the Sea is either the man Ranald saved or Ranald himself, depending on who you ask. Either way, they are two of the most important gods on Sartosa (the other big one being Manann, who was really upset that Ranald put land into his ocean and had to be bribed with all of the pirate gold to not drown everyone involved).

Go big, or go home. And hey, look at it like this - if we do die here because of this, dying from BOOK-induced hubris is possibly the most fitting end Mathilde could possibly have. :V

Here's hoping Johann gets to show off his Grungi Priest taught punching skills, flying metal orb murder bot staff, and/or sweet new Lazer arm!!!

From my understanding, there's no feathered Lizardmen, so that's also an unfortunately missed opportunity to go off on a funny tangent.

I think that people are forgetting something from the character sheet, Mathilde doesn't need a roll for scouting defences :
Unseen: Unless specifically on the lookout for magical infiltration, active defences are no obstacle to you. +2 Intrigue.
This trait means that as long as the Strigoi hasn't setup any magical ways of detecting intruders, the Cheat option is completely free of risks to Mathilde. The only way I can see an Intrigue roll even happening, is if it was smart enough to usurp any leftover Von Carstein magical protections on the tunnels and that seems extremely unlikely.

The vampire will have some time to get ready, but our side becomes exponentially more dangerous with info on the ennemy and Ghouls are very suceptible to the kind of magical terror a Grey wizard can cause, if an opportunity presents itself.

The cheating here is marching in with an Iron Breaker throng and three wizardly fellows. Gambling our neck against vampires can be fun, but what information could we acquire that would change our tactics away from rolling in with a throng and three wizardly fellows and obliterating them?

If we're 'scouting' in order to kill what we find, that's basically just doing the assault ourselves, which is doable, but has always had hairiness waiting in the wings. We brought all the backup because that was a surer bet than doing it ourselves, didn't we?

you nod as you look around the newly-illuminated room and frown at what you find.

"This looks like a Morrite crypt," Tarni says as she enters behind you, her tone unsure.

"We've breached a tomb?" Thori asks, alarmed, as he does likewise.
Bit unclear on what Thori is "doing likewise" here because the immediately preceding sentence is Tarni speaking in an unsure tone. Could be tweaked to presumably follow Mathilde's cue of looking around the room.
